It went very well. Haywood, the technician, was polite and professional. He worked quickly and answered all our questions.

This company obviously spends a lot of money on its answering service; each of the 7-8 times I called, the operators were very friendly and professional. However, that only served to drag out the ordeal. The initial Michael and Sons technician misdiagnosed the problem as far more serious collapsed pipeline; I waited another four days for his supervisor to join him in appraising the problem. I was then promised a work plan and budget in 1-2 days. I spent the next 6 days waiting and calling and receiving empty assurances that someone would get back to me. After I noted that Michael and Sons hadn't charged me even for the initial visits, I cut my losses and moved on. I lost $1000 in rental income from my patient renters. Eventually, All Plumbing fixed the problem (snaking and flushing a 140-foot pipe) in two days. This is the first time I've taken the time to give such an appraisal, but I would keep looking--or call All Plumbing in Arlington.

Things were good until one bad apple shows up. I have been using Michael & Son since May this year and spent nearly 10k. I think most of us would agree. Their prices are higher than in most places. And you asked, why do I keep them around? That's because of their people. I like most of them except the restoration manager, Mathew Sober. Close your door and run if he shows up to give you an estimation. My toilet was flooded, water leaked through my garage ceiling. And of coz, I called Michael & Son. They sent Mathew (Restoration Manager), who gave me an estimation and said he would send a technician out to cut a hole on my ceiling, dry it, and send others to cover the hole withheld, stating that I have to pay for someone to cover the hole. It's no brainer to me that you cut, you fix, and you put it back. Who would know the estimation did not include the last step if he didn't clarify to me. I called that misleading, sneaky, dishonestly.... So, I called him on his cell. He was rude. He first argued. He told me that he said we never discussed it. Honestly, I couldn't even believe that he is the manager. What kind of role model is he to his people? Sad for the company. That's no point for me to speak to him, so I emailed the company. Maurice Noori returned my email, sounded very caring, friendly like he was going to the right thing, held his employee accountable for a mistake he made, and took care of his loyal customer. I saw the light at the end of the tunnel. But this morning, we connected. He said the price for rebuilding the ceiling (the mess they made) was 800, and he can give me 500. Honestly, I am not sure if I were clear enough or just thought $300 would help cover the price I had to pay. I explained it to him again.. sadly.. he didn't even care if they lose me as a customer. Sigh, a sad day for Michael & Son. They choose to cover up for their mistake instead of making things right. This review is not just about this dishonestly, but also how sloppy the job was complete this time. They are not what they advertised; they don't empathize when things are not done right. My ceiling is not a cover-up, but they had tapes and staples in it. The plaster and paint got peeled off when the technician tries to remove it. I do understand many recommended this place coz I would too if I have to write a review a month again. My point is they WILL NOT take care of you when things went south. They would do anything or say anything to cover their mistake. So, is this a place you can trust?! :) It's your call. Also, I found a company that will close the whole and repaints my whole garage ceiling for only $345. So Michael and Son, where is that $800 come from. But, I do want to THANK the plumber employees who i encountered before and did a great job.

They have been excellent and I have used them several times a year for Heating and AC needs and for other needs. I have never had any problems with them and I would recommend them as well.

I will start by saying their customer service representatives are always very polite and kind on the phone and have been the only good part of my experience with this company. I called them initially in April to get my standby generator in working order. 7 months later and over 2k spent it still has the same problem it had at the start. They don't seem to actually know how to fix it which seems strange as it's their job. They just kept throwing services at it and charging me. To make matters worse when I finally got the electrical department manager on the phone he was rude, accusatory, unhelpful and downright mean, then hung up the phone on me. I work in customer service and I would never speak to someone the way this man spoke to me, especially when his company has been unable to do the job they were hired to do and still has charged me. Worse, I called back to speak to an operations manager in the customer service center which went direct to voicemail. 5 days later still no answer. Worst customer service experience in my life. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY FOR ANY JOB.

Technician did not complete all items on the annual electrical inspection checklist. He was only here actually doing something for like maybe 12 - 14 minutes max. No way he could do that kind of inspection in that short of a time. Also.. he gave me a ridiculously high quote ($525+) to concrete a new light post and light. Only materials that would have been required was a bag of sackcrete. No wiring, just hooking up existing wire to new light and putting a post in an existing hole. I will not hire these guys again next year. I will go local to Crozet VA electricians.

STAY AS FAR AWAY AS YOU CAN FROM THEM!!! Where do I begin? I’ll just stick with the main issue in that I had a drip coming from the shower. I called Michael and sons. They damaged my shower trim kit from the tools they used to remove the handle. After that, they didn’t identify the proper shower cartridge for my shower. They told me it was Kohler and that they didn’t have the part. Spent over 3 hours looking for the part, and was unsuccessful in finding it. I got back home, looked at the shower trim kit (based off advice we got at Ferguson) to see if we could identify who the manufactured was and it was a DANZE. Why didn’t their plumber do that!? Just be careful when using them as they have been very rude and shady towards me when coming to a resolution for them messing up. Below are the followup communications--his & mine--after my initial email to Mr. Basim, President of Michael & Son Services: Mr. Basim: First, prior to receiving your reply-email, I got a hostile and rude, call from Mr. Maurice Noori attempting to address the issues I wrote directly to you about in my email. Please click, download and listen to the call: Mauice Noori's Unsolicited Phone Call to Me. He was not cc’ed in my email to you, so why did you forward him the email and allow him to call me? And, especially since I told you that another customer reported a nightmare experience with Mr. Maurice Noori. I now see what she means. You've made matters worst. Second, before seeing your email I called your company to ascertain if I could speak with a supervisor to have Mr. Noori cease contacting me and I was referred to Ms. Sina Fisher. I emailed her all the background including your email to me—which I noticed while talking to he—as well as Mr. Noori’s email that he sent after he’d called me. Ms. Fisher turned out to be just a rude and curt as Mr. Noori. She attempted to distort the contents of my email to you and the reason for which I was transferred to amongst many other things she stated, “. . . that’s $100 that you did not have and did not pay.” Please click, download and listen to the call with her: Phone call with Sina Fisher of Michael & Sons. Both are your employees, representing you and your company. These are customer consequences of my dealing with your company. I hope other companies don’t treat or talk to their customers in this manner and I’ll certainly warn my family, neighbors and friends not to fall prey. Third, you stated, “We are glad to offer you a discount on services for the inconvenience” and I will have my team process a refund for $100 for the last visit. Mr. Basim, if you read my email to you, then you’d notice that I did not pay because your employee didn’t do the work for which he was hired and did not come prepared so I lost money because of that by having to take leave from my job; so I requested to reimbursed for my “time” that was wasted, a discount on your services does not replenish the leave I had to take because of the negligence of your employee. Time is money as you well know. Further your statement(s) as seems to imply that you will credit my account $100; is that correct? If so, then that’s a credit back to you; that does not benefit me at all, especially considering I’ll not utilize your company again as all faith is now lost. Also, Mr. Noori stated your company does not reimburse for my lost time (listen to his call). And, as I said Ms. Fisher added, “ . . that’s $100 that you did not have and did not pay.” Again, these are my customer consequences of dealing with your company. Fourth, you stated below, “you are welcome to send us the bill from a contractor of you choosing” and Mr. Noori thereafter contradicted you, “The customer can have a contractor come give an ESTIMATE for repair. We will then review this ESTIMATE and either approve for work to be done.” Essentially you say to send you the bill and Mr. Noori and Ms. Fisher contradict you the Michael & Son President. I will submit a bill to “you” reflecting the repairs my door. I’m still requesting of you to be reimbursed for my time that wasted and not in the form of an account credit. I’m requesting that Mr. Maurice Noori never make contact with me again as well as Ms. Sina Fisher. Please reply email and advise how these issues may be resolved because as have been proven, you as the President say one thing and your employees refute you. While the customer service folks you speak to are fantastic, it's almost impossible to actually GET any service from their technicians. We had a late night call a year ago...kept calling them back through the evening trying to figure out where their technician was who we were told was "on the way." This time, had an appointment window of 12-2...no show at 2 so called, was assured he just finished with an emergency on the job before ours and he was on his way. Then called back after to see just far he was now hadn't even left yet and had to return to office in Columbia before coming to us. I explained our frustration with the lack and wrong info given, but said we rescheduled for today. Window was 2-4pm...guess what happened at 4pm. Was told the tech had an emergency at the job before ours, but we were next. No thank you. Either this technician lousy and has emergencies at every job or you severely overbook and just hope folks won't notice or will a random "emergency" as an excuse every time. Had someone contacted us to give us a heads-up, we may have been more understanding. However, this company clearly doesn't believe in communicating with the customer (customer service 101.) The only reason I gave them a D instead of an F is because I never got to SEE their work, but this doesn't give me much confidence in their workmanship either. Do not recommend.

The worse customer service I have ever received. They are extremely over priced, charging $325+ to remove a toilet and another $325 to put it back. Come to find out it was not the toilet. I called another company to come in and they actually located leak from neighboring unit. I tried to tell customer service and second plumber from Micheal & Son and they both accused us of installing toilet incorrectly; even after the toilet was removed and water still leaked; instead of listening and investigating they issue continued to tell me it was because of the toilet. Customer service rep on numerous interactions was rude, nast, poor attitude, and accusatory; to the point I am reaching out to CEO of company. I tried to reach a manger over rep several times and each time I was rerouted to an assistant or given a hard time. I would not recommend anyone to use this company after my experience.

Description of Work: First of all they charge $69 to come out to give a quote .Tech showed up didn’t know what he was there for .Took a look at my wiring and said he was not comfortable working with that type of box but another tech that he works with could.He said he would have his dispatch call me to schedule the other tech for my quote.They never called back had my work done by another company a big job that they could have had if they would have sent a qualified tech.Very happy with the other company Mr.Electric of Gastonia did great work.

Here is an example of the sloppy work done by Michael & Son. The electric panel work looks like it was completed by a fourth grade child and I'm still not sure why they left live exposed electrical wires. I'm positive there work will not pass inspect so I will have to get a real electrician to fix the sub par work which I paid thousands of dollars to Michael & Son.

Plumber didn't follow what his employer said was expected of him re. Covid exposure. No mask, shoe coverings, 6 ft distancing In my opinion, very expensive considering it was a simple one-for-one replacements and I was providing all the hardware (sink, faucet, et al)
