Description of Work: I had Michael and Sons provide the following services: |1) Replaced my water heater |2) Replaced our boiler for our home heating system |3) Installed a liner in the chimney |They were very professional and addressed all issues. They included pulling a permit for their work and next step is for an inspector to come by and check their work. The only thing I notice about this company is the frequent suggestions on other work they think should be done. A little bit aggressive on that point. I had to ask them pointed questions on whether I really needed to do the other things they recommended. So I felt conflicted since I had to rely on their judgement.

Description of Work: HVAC/Heat pump Removal and Replacement. The Heating and Cooling team was excellent to work with. I also had some restoration and mold removal work done in the utility room and tried to use Michael and Sons Restoration group, but they were non-responsive and difficult to work with for a quote. I used a different vendor for the restoration work and everything worked out well. I did not rate lower since the HVAC group was so good and I did not use the Restoration group.

Description of Work: Provided check-up of gas boiler and changed out thermostats to a digital version

Description of Work: Replaced a toilet which I had purchased elsewhere.

Description of Work: Requested an estimate on running a gas line in order to convert my electric cook top to a gas cook. Individual responding wore booties whenever he walked across our hardwood floors and carpeting. Was very professional and pointed out another deficiency (evidence of a leaking pipe at our water heater) that I had never noticed that will required action in the near future.

Description of Work: The Company arrived on time, wore covering over shoes as to not get my carpets dirty. They fixed my leak and found another leak that was also fixed. They went through the house and checked all the plumbing and gave me an estimate on repairs. No pressure to have them done. |Very professional, will use again if needed.

Description of Work: Replaced three toilets. Told the Service Technicial when he came out to give estimate that it was important that the 3 fixtures be the same. Technician never measured the clearance with the vanity counter in bathroom, and then discovered he could not install the "Comfort Height" model that had been selected. Installed a different Kohler fixture and told us if we had a problem we could call the office. Office blames the problem on the vanity...not that the technician should have measured to begin with. So we ended up paying a premium price for a lousy job.

Description of Work: Two handy men from Michael & Son Services Inc. removed the old grout and replaced it in my master bathroom. They cleaned up after themselves so well that all I had to do was a quick wipe to remove any dust that escaped them before putting everything back. The only problem I had with this provider was scheduling. I was ill the first time they were to come out and we kept playing telephone tag trying to reschedule -- I thought they were supposed to be here on a certain day and they had no record of me talking to anyone to schedule that day. Eventually, we got on the same page and the work was done very well.

Description of Work: Air conditioning wasn't working. They replaced a fused and everything was good. The representative was nice and as a courtesy he checked my hot water heater. He provided me with information on the future on both systems and what I should be thinking about. | |I would say the experience went well.

Description of Work: I have used Michael&Son on numerous occasions, both for heating and plumbing services. The prices may be on the "high side", but the quality and response time of the service (I feel) were well worth the cost; that was by the way, was given in at advance.

Description of Work: had a clogged kitchen drain.....they said it would be almost $400 to fix....it took the serviceman exactly 28 minutes to unclog the drain (that included laying out tarps and draining water from the sink). |I called the supervisor and said NO WAY. He argued that "they charge the same thing, no matter how hard it is or how long it takes". I told him that was great for someone that had a problem that was difficult to fix and took a long time, but for a simple clogged drain, it was RIDICULOUS. He asked me what I would pay, I gave them $200, which is what I had payed a few years before in NYC. Won't ever use them again. Cost "by the job" is one thing, but charging the same for 28 min. or 4 hours is absurd.

Description of Work: They put new attic stairs in my upstairs hallway, they fixed two pea traps |under my bathroom sinks. They were punctual, they were polite, they layed |out tarps and put protective things on their shoes. It took them a couple of hours but when they were done I was pleased and would definitely use them |in the future if I needed them.

Description of Work: They cleaned the air conditioning system.Took advanyage of my wife being alone in the house and overcharged beyond imsginstion. Furthermuore, the service rep. did not want to leave a receipt upon completion. A receipt was mailed to us after several weeks and only subsequent to our repeated requests on the phone. | |On a previous occasion, I contracted M & S for a minnor task of changing a ceilling light cover. The price was OK, but he wanted to undertake an additional task of inspecting all the electrical outlets for over $1,500. I declined. He then suggedted that this work was highly recimmended for a fire safety. In one of the review sites, I noticed a similar complaint about getting an additional project offer. Is the technician getting an incentive reward for securing an additional pptoject? | |I now need a plumber service for our toilets. But I would definitely avoid this contractor. In this connection,I would appreciate receing your recommendation.
