This is a hard review to write. I honestly do not like to complain, but I think an honest review should be posted. For the most part, the employees are responsive and professional. My main complaint with the employees I had interaction with (5-6 installers, a manager, and several support personnel) was that one of the installers lied to me and the other didn't think my wife was worth informing her what was going on with the project. Here is what happened: 1. During installation of our attic HVAC unit, the installer had to rip out the molding around the access. Not a big deal on the surface, but it indicates poor planning and the demolition work was not detailed prior to the installation. During the installation, no mention of ripping out the molding was mentioned to my wife who was home at the time. On the positive side, the installer was awesome. When I came home he had been killing himself in the heat all day in the attic and didn't complain. He even took the time to show me how to troubleshoot the unit and some general information about it. Very nice guy. He just didn't want to tell my wife he was ripping out the molding around the attic access and was just going to just slap some insulation on the hole to seal it up. 2. For some reason the other installer on the outside decided to just epoxy on the decal to the unit. It didn't look good. Not "I paid $9500 for this unit" good, just a nameplate pasted on the unit. My wife thinks she heard the upstairs guy chewing the outside guy out about how bad it looks. 3. The outside installer also decided to detach the NOVEC power do-hicky and just leave it on the ground. No real explanation. Nobody told me it was out there, I just found it when they were packing up. I assume it is some kind of remote regulator. When I asked him he said I didn't need it. 4. I specifically wrote in to the contract that I would want a smart wifi thermostat of my own purchase installed. I even went as far to email ME Flow with a picture of the connections and the make and model of the thermostat I bought. The gentlemen who installed the unit inside was not able to install it and installed a temporary one. "Kudos" to him for making it work and I appreciate that, but I had to schedule another appointment for somebody else to come out to install the thermostat. The point is that I had contacted ME Flow about it before the installation and it wasn't accomplished. Another installer came out a week later to install the correct thermostat. 5. The gentlemen who was the inside installer did an excellent job sealing up the HOLE in my son's room that was the attic access. He said a carpenter from ME FLow would have to come out and fix the access. I waited a day and no one called me to schedule so I called and a carpenter came out. He did an okay job. Nice guy, but he didn't finish the job and I never heard back to finish the repair and there was no follow-up from ME Flow to finish the job after three weeks. I decided I didn't feel like scheduling another appointment for somebody else to come out. Eventually another carpenter had to come out to finish the repair when the unit stopped working three months later. 6. The system stopped working on a Friday afternoon about three months after it was installed. A BRAND NEW SYSTEM stopped working. Stuff happens, but what made me mad was when the technician came out he basically said that a valve was clogged and they didn't have the part. So I live in DC and no part is available? We had to contact the manager and another technician came out with the part and a "cleaner". So the first technician lied to my face and had to have someone else finish the job. After doing some additional research online, it is a known problem with American Standard air conditioners that the coils have a rust inhibitor that can clog the valve in question. The first step is to use a "cleaner" per similar service bulletins, but I knew it wouldn't last. 7. Wait for it... The brand new system stopped working a week later. This time the technician came out same day, but they didn't have the part in stock and it had to be overnighted (the same part they supposedly had seven days prior). Problem is it was on a Friday so we had a relatively sleepless, humid weekend with the windows open until they fixed it on the following Monday. The company is responsive to phone calls and they are relatively competent, I wouldn't use them again. I feel like it was my job to keep contacting them to have them finish the work. Now I wonder if I have a lemon for an HVAC and a company that will have employees lie to me and make me wait for repairs.

I’m sorry you had to write this review. I thought we had resolved the issues back in September when you contacted us. Unfortunately, the problem you were experiencing with your new HVAC system was identified as a problem most HVAC manufacturers and contractors were dealing with. This was due to a problem with the manufacturer of the compressor used in most heating and cooling equipment. You did identify the problem with your online research but the problem was not specific to the American Standard brand. While we were at your home, the manufacturer’s required corrective action was performed to fix the problem and to maintain your warranty --injecting an additive into the system and to let system run. Unfortunately, some systems responded immediately to the additive and started working without out any further issues but some had to have the valve replaced at a later date. Your system should be operating without any further problems. I do apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you.

I contacted ME flow after we had a previous contractor install a new modulating condensing boiler and water heater. After two years of working with our previous contractor our NEW boiler never worked correctly. It was locking out due to low water and air in the radiators in some areas of the house causing some rooms to never get warm. After two years of working with our previous contractor, we decided it was time to have another set of eyes on our boiler. We contacted several companies, many of which did not even take the time to examine our system and boiler without telling us that the problem was old pipes and radiators and we would need to take everything out of the house and install new pipes and radiators to fix the problem. We knew Rodney and his team were the right people for the job when he first came into my home and spent 1-1/2 hours checking the boiler diagnostics and checking our radiators and pipes. His conclusion was that the boiler was not installed correctly, first of which was the boiler was overheating because the outside intake and exhaust were too close together. The second thing he noticed was that a switch that our previous contractor replaced was the wrong part and was too high voltage for our boiler. With additional adjustments to the boiler system and adding an expansion tank, aligning the pipe work the previous contractor installed to help reduce air bubbles and adding a dirt eliminator onto the line to ensure that the water going into the boiler is free of particles...this project was a major overhaul from our original installation. Because the work was done in the summer, Rodney personally just returned this fall to check on the boiler to make sure everything was running smoothly. We have been so happy with Rodney and his team that we signed up for a service contract to ensure that our boiler will be maintained and serviced bi-yearly. Thanks Rodney and team!

We like them a whole lot. They are really great. I talked to all of the staff, they are very helpful. The guy who gave us a quote spent a lot of time with us going over the different options. He wasn't kind of hardselling us on anything. We liked them a lot. The other company quoted us $4400 or $5000. They were fantastic!

We are very happy with the service provided by M.E. Flow. We had initially called them for a repair to our system, but ultimately decided to go with a replacement based on the age of our system and the potential need for costly repairs in the future. From a sales perspective, we were provided a good range of options and our sales rep answered our numerous questions in a clear and concise fashion. We didn't feel pressured to make a decision or spend more than we wanted to. On the installation side of things, the individuals performing the work were fantastic. They arrived on time (actually a little early), were friendly and courteous, kept the areas where they worked clean, and were remarkably quiet given the work they were doing. It all seemed to move like clockwork. When they finished we received a full walk through on the work they had done along with operating instructions. We would definitely recommend this business to others.

Our heat pump died and, with it our air conditioning, on a Sunday when the temperature was a humid 90. I called ME Flow and they were able to get a technician named Dustin out to our home surprisingly quickly. He was very polite and genial, put on booties, and got right to work. He worked quickly and efficiently, found the problem (a short in wiring) and fixed the problem. We are very pleased with the service we received.

Have used ME FLOW in the past and will continue to do so. Always respond quickly, on time with technicians who know what they are doing. Our A.C. would work for a couple of hours and then shut itself off. Josh, the technician , came out and quickly determined the Freon was leaking. Gave us options on what to do ie; repair, replace, without pressuring us.

What I do like about ME Flow is how easy it is to get someone out to the house and how quickly they work. However, the past two times they have been to my house - I felt like they look at you and try to decide how much they can charge you rather than strive to charge a fair price. Today the valve replacement took him about 20 minutes and cost me nearly $300. A few weeks ago, $231 to stick a snake down the shower drain. Plumbers know they have you in a vulnerable place and know you can't comparison shop. I am an accountant and understand what overhead is and the need to cover costs other than pay and benefits, but next time I am calling someone else.

I had had one or to others and they were right there in the middle. They came out when they said they would. They came out as quickly as they could. They removed it in one day and installed it back the same day. We didn’t have any problems initially. We then incurred one. I contacted them and they came out the very next day and looked at it. It needed a new mother board and they got a new mother board as quickly as they could. They had it working so that we weren’t suffering. It was in the summer and they did get the air conditioner work. It worked out very well. I am using them for warranty service contract. They were very good.

We've used them about 3 or 4 different times. They're perfect. They're a great company to work with. We use them all the time. What stands out is their service, their recommendations. I think they have good prices and they respond quickly. It's a super company to work with. I called the service manager because I thought they should have replaced it the first time instead of repairing it and they were super, they gave me my money back and made the whole thing right. They're a super company. I think they're cheaper than most people around. I was super impressed with their company. Right now, that would be the only person we would call.

I live in a large condo development and ME Flow provides the contracted HVAC maintenance for the entire development. On Saturday, February 14, I began to hear an awful sound from the furnace. Early (7:00-ish) Sunday, I called ME Flow and left a non-emergency message about the noise and expected them to call me Monday morning. While I was at church, a technician, Aaron, came to my unit (luckily my brother and niece were there) and checked things out. (He happened to be in my building, ON MY FLOOR with another call and stopped by. They did call but I did not get the message until he had come and gone.) What good luck for me. There was a major problem with the blower, so Aaron left an estimate. I called their office as soon as I returned home, and they said they would come Monday morning. Considering the frigid temperatures, I'm glad I called on the weekend to start things. Monday, Truong came and verified the diagnosis. He recommended replacing the system (as had Aaron, though I'd not spoken to him). After some thought, I decided to do that since the system was nearing the end of its normal life expectancy. I decided to add a humidifier since the air in my condo was dry, and also an air cleaner because of the dust. I was able to continue to use the system in spite of the noisy motor (with my fingers crossed) until they could come to install the new unit. With the snow we got on Monday and Tuesday, installation could not happen on Tuesday. But Wednesday morning, before 8:30 a.m., two technicians (Richard and Juan) arrived to install the new equipment. They put drop cloths throughout their path to the HVAC closet and used booties to cover their shoes, too. They were very efficient and polite. I did not even notice when they removed the old unit and I was in sight of the hall! They had to get new "metal" (ducts attached to the inside air handler) and even with that "delay," they were completely done in less than 8 hours (minus time for a break). Before they left, Richard showed me all the new equipment and answered my many questions. He also showed me the new thermostat that is included with the new system. I really appreciated their thoroughness. In addition, earlier in the day (Wednesday), the installation manager stopped by to check up on things (sorry, I cannot remember his name!). He spent a good amount of time discussing filters (type to use, frequency of change,etc.), weak airflow to some rooms, the pros/cons of duct cleaning, and gave me some hints to allow more heat to go to my niece's room, and the possibility of a rebate from Dominion Resources (not able because of unit size). I appreciated his kindness in helping me understand all of these issues.

We woke up on a cold Saturday morning to a 62 degree house, though the heat was set on 70. It would not budge higher than 64 during the day. Our furnace had been short-cycling whenever the temperature dropped below 25 or so for a while now, especially when it was cold and windy. Called ME Flow as the temperature was supposed to drop into the teens, with heavy winds, and a wind chill falling below zero degrees for the next several days. They are located near us and had good reviews here. Luckily they had someone available to come out on a Saturday. They arrived within a half hour, diagnosed the problem quickly...the furnace was overheating rapidly and shutting down when it was cold due to a filthy motor and coils. So the colder it was outside, the more the furnace would overheat, and the colder our house would get. The previous owners of this house had a large dog. They also had a cat that spent a lot of time the laundry room with the furnace (there was a cat door leading in). Over the years, turns out that cat/dog hair, and a clear lack of replacing filters regularly, had led to serious dust and fur buildup. It was nasty. The tech, Fabian, recommended replacing the motor and cleaning the coils. Unfortunately, that involved the labor-intensive task of taking apart much of the unit to get at these items. He walked us through every step, showed us the mess that was inside both before and after pulling the motor/coils. It didn't take a trained eye to see the motor was covered in filth and needed to be replaced. Same with the coils. With the cold temps coming, and with two small kids at home, Fabian said he could complete the job that day. We were thankful for that. Four hours later we had a new motor, clean motor housing and inside of the furnace, and clean coils. That night the temps went below zero with the windchill and winds gusting to 50 mph. Our heat was set on 70 and the whole house stayed right there. Prior to this service our upstairs rooms would generally have temps 5 to 6 degrees below the actual heat setting. After, the upstairs rooms were the same as the downstairs where the thermostat is located. It was like we had a brand new furnace. The next day, same thing, house is warmer than it's ever been and we actually are setting the temperature at 68 since it's running so efficiently. Furnace is running less and keeping our home warmer. Can't say enough good things about ME Flow's service and the tech, Fabian. Without them coming out that day, our house would likely have dipped into the 50s at night. Professional service, great explanation of the work to be done (really appreciated them being so deliberate about that), all on a Saturday emergency call. We'll be calling them again next time we have a plumbing or heating problem.

A couple of years ago we expressed our displeasure to the customer relations department and they were very apologetic, but we feel their efforts at "customer satisfaction" were cursory at best.
Description of Work: We were clients of MEFlow for years. They replaced many high-ticket items, such as A/C, water heater, furnace and kitchen fixtures. Afterwards, it seemed to us that they took no pride in their work. In our opinion it seemed that when there were issues the first thing they were interested in was the cost of repair. In the case of a $750 kitchen faucet that began leaking after a year they ruled out simple, inexpensive repair and told us that the entire fixture couldn't be fixed and had to be replaced and never mentioned any warranty. I think Flow charged us a fee merely to make a call to check on their own previous work. Whatever goodwill we'd developed over the years has evaporated.

I reviewed your property service history, and see you’ve been a loyal customer for many years, so I’m very disappointed to read your review. According to our records, a Moen kitchen faucet was installed in January of 2013. We warranty our parts and labor for one year, but unfortunately, that warranty expired over a year ago. However, the manufacturer offers a lifetime warranty on their faucets, and you can contact them directly for a replacement. It’s unclear whether our technician informed you of that option, but he did list several prices for various replacement options on the service ticket -- including an option to install a customer supplied faucet. It appears he did not feel that a faucet repair would be sufficient. Had the faucet still be under the M.E. Flow warranty, or had you chosen to have a replacement or repair done at that time, the diagnostic fee/trip charge would have been waived. If you have any further questions on this matter, please contact our office and ask to speak to the Alexandria area plumbing manager. I hope you will continue to choose M.E. They did nice job cleaning up -- but my god the whole thing looks like my grandma did this work -- not a professional!! Exposed wires everywhere and wires crossing loose and I was very unhappy about the way it looked. Update 1/14/2015 -- the company is sending someone out to fix the problems identified.

All work was completed although it took about a week for everything to complete: they pretty much came every other day to do work. I had to call each time asking when and what time they were coming to do the work. Overall quality was great and price was competitive. I would probably recommend them.
Description of Work: Replace boiler and replaced air bleeder in one of the baseboards.

While gathering prices for a new install, I found that ME Flow's estimate was very reasonable for a new high efficiency heat pump and air handler, and their salesperson (Glen) was able to answer all of my questions. The installation was somewhat complicated with the age of my townhouse and strict HOA rules about placement. The install team took the time to make sure everything was right and kept me informed of what they planned to do. In order to insert new cable for the heat pump, it was necessary to cut into the drywall on two levels of my unit. However, once the cable was in, they had a carpenter fix all of my drywall and repaint - you can't even tell that any cuts were made. Great job to the folks at ME Flow for the install, and I'm amazed by how quiet the new unit is. I would highly recommend this company.

My air conditioner stopped working on Friday July 18 and I called ME Flow because they had installed my costly American Standard heat pump/air conditioning unit in 2006. The technician was punctual. He said he had tried to solve the problem by the most inexpensive means possible, but was unsuccessful. He said I needed a new compressor which was almost the entire unit. When I expressed dismay, as the unit was only 8 years old, he said he would see if it was under warranty. It was, but the cost of shipping the part from the manufacturer, labor, and replacement of the cooling agent would be $1400, However, the cost would be reduced to $1200 if I paid extra for an inspection ME Flow would conduct in the fall. I agreed to that. The technician said it would take 3-5 days for the compressor to arrive after it was ordered from American Standard. I paid $155 for the visit. The compressor was supposedly ordered on Monday, July 21. Meanwhile, because of the heat and humidity, I spent a number of nights at a relative's home. As of Tuesday July 29, eight days after the order was placed with American Standard, the compressor had still not been delivered to ME Flow. An ME Flow employee said it was on a truck from Texas and he believed it would arrive on Friday August 1. I said that was unacceptable. I had been without my heat pump for two weeks and I was having guests the weekend of Aug 2. It had to be fixed no later than Saturday morning Aug 2. At that point, I was so frustrated and had so little faith in ME Flow I found another local HVAC company through Angie's List. The technician was punctual, courteous and professional. He diagnosed the problem, installed needed parts he had on his truck, and got the system working. The cost was $150. I cancelled the compressor with ME Flow and told them why. To his credit, the ME Flow employee offered to refund the $155 they charged me for their faulty diagnosis. I saved myself over $1,000 and can't see why I would ever use ME Flow again.

That was good. Very reasonably priced, very punctual and much better than the company I had used before. What stands out the most about them is that when I called, they were more than happy to come out and help and they didn’t give any attitude. Sometimes the plumbers and the ac guys act like they are too busy for you, but these guys were not like that. They were eager to help.
Description of Work: They came out and took a look at my air conditioner. It was tripping the power and the thermostat was turning on and off. He came out and took a look, figured out the problem and fixed it. It took him about an hour.

I will highly recommend them. They were very professional and I was very impressed with their service. They have actually gone out here several times. I got them from Angie’s List. They repaired some leaks and installed some faucets in the past.
