Julio arrived promptly and was very courteous. He diagnosed and explained the problem clearly. This company charges using a notebook of standard charges for each task; parts were not priced separately. The job took just over three hours and cost a bit over $900. Perhaps knowing this was Angie's list, Julio emphasized he's worked for Kane for twenty years. All in all though, a very positive experience. Would use them again.

The job turned out to be quite easy and Brandon was done in about 20 minutes. He put down a protective mat while working, wore booties over his shoes and cleaned up when he was done, even taking the packaging trash with him.
Description of Work: I needed to have an extension pipe and new shower head put on in my main bath shower. It is a simple job to replace the shower head myself, but I was unsure about replacing the extension pipe and called Kramer and Sons.

We discovered roots in our sewer line and contacted several companies, 4 of which gave us estimates. Kramer & Sons was the only company to offer a repair option versus replacing the whole system. After speaking with them, they were able to start the next day and finished within a few hours. The placed a camera down the pipe to ensure everything was done correctly. Not only was their option more practical it was also only a fraction of the price of their competitors!

The problem of not being able to shut off the shower occurred on Thursday and Kramer was contacted. They were able to show up the next day. After inspecting the problem I was shown a pay chart which included the fix of my problem with price. I agreed to pay the price. The problem was fixed professionally for the price shown up front. I personally think that the price was on the high side but since I was told up front and the job was done correctly, I do recommend Kramer for their fair and well done service.
Description of Work: A leaking shower valve was replaced. The valve could not be shut off any more, it had a mixing cartridge and no direct shut off. The water to the entire house had to be shut off to replace the value. After replacement, the shower valve was caulked and works fine.

THey were professional and prompt. I really liked the way they answered the phones, I had a good feeling about them. They might have been expensive, but I felt like they did a good job. I knew I wouldn't have to worry about my hot water heater for a while. Their quality seems good so far.

I called the company and they scheduled a technician out for the next day. The office called the same day to verify I was home and sent the plumber over. The plumber, Brandon was very friendly, he quoted the price from his price list and completed the task. He protected the floor, wore covers on his shoes to protect our floors and made sure the area was cleaned up as he left.
Description of Work: We had a leak in the toilet in the master bath. The plumber that came out pulled the toilet and replaced the wax ring, the floor bolts and reseated the toilet.

I called for an appointment and got same day service which was wonderful! Jose came to do the job and the first thing he did when entering my home was put booties on over his shoes as not track dirt, etc on my floors - I applaud contractors who do this without our asking to do so. He was very courteous and honest and professional. He did the work and even made suggestions of pipes that should be replaced at some point as they are showing wear and their mere age could cause them to leak, but offered to come back to discuss that work when my husband could be there as well as it would be a time consuming job that would require cutting the house water off for the duration of the work. I will definitely have them come back out to do this work when we are ready - good preventative maintenance!

The technician, Julio, was great. They were super responsive. They were here within an of my call. I didn't know there would be $178 diagnostic cost. The service fee was fine but the diagnostic cost seemed high. I didn't compare the price with other companies though. Other than the price, they were great and I would recommend them hands down. He was very honest.

I had a low water pressure problem at my address and called Kramer and Sons for help based on their service area and very high ratings on Angie's List gave them a call. From the dispatcher to the technician who came to my house, everyone was courteous, helpful, and knowledgeable in all areas relating to my problem. It was made very clear to me when I called how much the service call would cost, and also that all work is on a per job, not a per hour basis, which is great! When the technician arrived (within the timeframe that was given), he was in uniform, and ready to go to work from the moment he stepped on the property. He quickly measured and assessed the water pressure at all fixtures on my property and recognized early on that the problem was a lack of proper water pressure coming in from the town water line to my home, and that my plumbing system was in great shape. With that, he not only gave me a great write up to take to the town public works department, but the dispatcher also sent me a link to the state code showing the requirement for water pressure coming into my home! I was completely satisfied with Kramer and Sons and would highly recommend them to anyone based on this initial experience.
Description of Work: Checked my entire plumbing system from top-to-bottom to find and correct the cause of a low water pressure problem at my new house.

I took care of my neighbor's cat while they were away. Easter Sunday morning, I walked into their powder room to wash my hands and "squished" across the floor. The toilet was "running" and leaking from the supply tube. The shut-off value would not close, so I jury-rigged the float to continually empty the toilet, which prevented further flooding. After reviewing Angie's List, I called Kramer's Monday morning (9 am). I not only received a price quote right then (they price per type of job), they told me they could come between 10 and noon that day. At 10:20, they met me at my neighbor's door. They worked quickly and professionally, covering their shoes, explaining what they were doing as they went, and checking their work (which is warranted for a year) 3 times before they left to make sure there were no further leaks. Nice, nice work. Now the bad news - plumbing is expensive! But that cannot be helped. At least this company has a reasonable service call charge.

The waste pipe/trap for our kitchen sink had corroded and wet the entire area below the sink. A call was placed late Sunday evening. We received a call back around 0730 the following day, letting us know that a plumber will be coming by later in the morning. (She called again to let us know when the plumber was on his way.) The plumber, Nick B., came by right at the beginning of the window given. He placed his "booties" on, heard our story, and surveyed the damage, which turned out to be not as bad as I thought. He gave us options regarding pipe replacement as well as a referral for a clean-up company in case we ended up with mold. (He also gave us tips regarding mold prevention and what not to use to unclog a sink.) His demeanor was pleasant, professional, and he got rave reviews from my visiting in-laws. The work was completed in a reasonable amount of time and there was no remaining mess (due to the booties and a drop cloth that protected the work area).
Description of Work: The plumber cut out the old chrome-plated trap and installed a new PVC trap and adaptor to the copper drain line. He also checked for any leaks.

The entire process from start to finish went very smoothly. I spoke on a couple of occasions with the owner/plumbing manager. He was always available and very helpful. He took the time to answer my questions. About the work itself, the job involved digging up the soil above the pipe, excavating the old pipe, and replacing it with new PVC pipe. All told, the job took slightly more than 2 days. The crew put down a big tarp so that the mound of soil wouldn't dirty the yard. At the end of the job, all the soil was put back, grass seed and hay were laid down on the dug up area, and all the job-related debris (including an old, rusty chain lnk fence) was carried away. We had some decorative stones that lined the sidewalk near the digging site that the crew even moved and neatly placed off to the side for us. Compared with dealing with a few other average-quality (at best) and unnecessarily expensive plumbing firms in the area, working with Kramer & Sons was a dream. I would highly recommend to others in need of replacing a home drain line and will contact them in the future for our home's plumbing needs.
Description of Work: Kramer & Sons was one of three plumbing firms we contacted for bids to dig up, remove, and replace our home's old terra-cotta main drain line that was cracked and filled with lots of tree roots. Our drain line was filled with so many roots that is was a problem just doing a basic load of laundry. Kramer & Sons provided by far the most well-prepared and competitive estimate and it was an easy choice to pick them to do the work.

I called to ask how much a pressure regulator valve would cost to replace. The receptionist was very pleasant but said she didn't know and I would need to have a plumber come out to assess to give an estimate which was $50. She was able to accommodate a visit on the same day within a 4 hour window. The plumber did show up within that time and was very professional but said the PRV replacement was a standard price of $502. If I had known that to start off with, I would have called for more estimates. If there is a standard fee, then the receptionist should be able to give a quote over the phone. I feel I wasted $50 and my time waiting for them because they are about $100 over some of the other plumbers on the list.

Excellent. I've used Kramer Plumbing at least three times, and they are consistently professional. They show up promptly, take care in protecting the work area and then clean up, and communicate clearly about the work to be done. The certainty of their up front pricing for the work to be done reduces anxiety. This particular job, however, I thought would be more complicated and expensive than the relatively simple jobs before. So before hiring them for this job, I joined Angie's List to check references, just to be certain about my decision. The excellent Angie's List references matched up with my prior experience, so I called them again. I'm glad I did.

Kramer & Sons responded very quickly (within 2 hrs.) of my service call. I was informed up front that a service call to provide an estimate would be $49. The estimate provided was $1855.18 for installation of a new water heater. I considered the estimate much too high. I payed the $49 and continued to call other plumbers. I had to call 10 or so plumbers to find one that would replace it the same day (about 4 hours after Kramer left). They gave me a preliminay estimate of about $1000, and I ended up paying $1158.20 and that included a drain pan that was not part of the initial esitmate.

Kramer came out to give us an estimate for the work on a Friday (cost $50). He measured and took pictures of the unit and the closet the water heater is housed in. On early Monday morning I received a written estimate over email. I scheduled the replacement for the following morning. They arrived on time (actually about 15 minutes early) and laid down drop clothes through the condo to the water heater. He ended up having to move a gas line, which was not previously anticipated. This resulted in the replacement taking 1.5 hrs longer than planned but they stuck to their cost estimate and did not add any charges. The water heater has been working great for the two months since the replacement.
Description of Work: Replaced the gas water heater in the closet on the porch of our condo. The water heater is also has a secondary loop with provides heat for the condo.

Repair went well. We were out of town and a neighbor let the plumber into the house. He called and explained what they were doing and completed the job in a single visit leaving a clean work site. Two men and two hours of work was billed at about $600, which seems high but probably worth it given the circumstances.

The plumber arrived at about 8:15am (time frame was 8-9am). He put on booties over his shoes when entering the house, which I appreciated. He checked out the problem and gave me an estimate. I agreed to the work and he started. He showed me the old pipe and how it was corroded. We also looked at the line going down through the basement level. The work took about 6 hours, which was about an hour longer than he had expected. When he finished, he showed me the new pipe under the sink and in the basement. The plumber was professional and courteous through the whole job.
Description of Work: The waste pipe from my kitchen sink to the drain (basement) was leaking/corroded all along the horizontal line. It was (likely) the original galvanized steel pipe in the house, the plumber told me. The length of pipe from the kitchen (first floor) down to the basement was replaced with PVC pipe.

We unwittingly put potato skins down our kitchen drain on Thanksgiving, creating a mini-disaster (completely clogged drain, plus back-up in our only bathroom sink...and a house-full of guests!). We survived clean-up without using the sink and called Kramer that night to get a regular service call the next day. They called at 8:00 am on Friday and scheduled us for that morning. They called 20 minutes before arrival, as promised. Our technician, Scott, was courteous, methodical, explained everything before proceeding with the work (including detailed costs), thorough, clean and effective.

Came on schedule and finished quickly. Wore shoe covers to prevent tracking dirt. I decided to use Kramer's part instead of a repair part I had received from the kitchen and bath store, in order to get full warranty on work. Also gave me advice on replacing leaking kitchen faucet, but did not repair because did not have parts on truck. (I was able to get part from local distributor and do it myself.)
