My husband has used them for a long time. We don't have to usually wait and we know who is going to come. He always does a good job and their pricing is pretty fair.
Description of Work: They have installed our tankless water heater. They also disconnected our gas dryer when we were remodeling our laundry room. They also redid our electrical panel. They do maintenance on our HVAC system as well.

It went very well. We have used them for several years and we are pleased with their service. We've used then for electrical, plumbing and air conditioning and we've had success with all those things. They are very reliable and they do quality work. We've never had any issues. If anything wasn't right, they've corrected it right away without any hassle. One time they didn't even charge for minor electrical work. They have done a very good job with anything we've had them do. We would recommend them. They do good service even if they might charge a little extra.
Description of Work: We use John C Flood of Virginia for our plumbing and electrical work. They were last here to service the air conditioning unit.

Very well. It was hard to find a contractor to come out on a Sunday, but the technician came out within a couple hours of the trouble call. He was very pleasant and explained what he was looking at and why. It turned out to be a sticking gas valve that kept the water heater from turning on. He got it running again for us and showed us what to do if it stops working again before we can get a new valve installed, which he will quote for us during the week and set up a time to replace.

MY WIFE NOTIFIED J.C FLOOD BECAUSE OF A CLOGGED BATHROOM WITH WATER BACKING UP THE TOILET,SHOWER AND SINK ON 24 OCT 2013 AND THE PRICE WAS $579. SHE CALLED J.C FLOOD ON 05 NOV 2013 FOR THE SAME PROBLEM IN THE SAME AREA ON 05 NOV 2013 AND THE PRICE WAS $400 ADDITIONAL COST. SHE PAYED BY CHECK ON THE SECOND VISIT WHICH I STOPPED PAYMENT UNTIL I COULD TALK TO THE COMPANY ABOUT THE ADDITIONAL CHARGES I FELT SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN ACCESSED. THREE CALLS WERE MADE AND I WAS PROMISED A RETURN PHONE CALL ABOUT MY COMPLAINT. I'M STILL WAITING FOR THOSE RETURN CALLS. ON 17 FEB 2014 I CALLED THE CORPORATE OFFICE AND SPOKE WITH " MO". WE TALKED ABOUT THE SITUATION AND COULD NOT AGREE ON REMOVING THE ADDITIONAL CHARGES. I INFORMED MR. "MO" THAT HE LEFT ME NO OTHER CHOICE BUT TO TAKE THE MATTER TO COURT. AT THAT POINT IN OUR CONVERSATION HE RESORTED TO PROFANITY AND SAID THAT MY PROBLEM WOULD HAVE NEVER OCCURED. IF I KNEW HOW TO WIPE MY BOTTOM. I AM FURIOUS AND INTEND TO DEFINITELY TAKE THIS TO COURT. SINCE A COMPROMISE COULD NOT BE ACHIEVED. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE PHONE CALL. I PAID THE $400 PLUS $60 FOR BAD-CHECK AND COLLECTION FEES WITH INTENTIONS OF GETTING MY MONEY BACK IN COURT. IT IS AMAZING THAT THEY ARE STILL IN BUSINESS WITH THIS TYPE OF CUSTOMER SERVICE. I RATE THEM A NEGATIVE 10 TO THE TENTH POWER.

Response from John C. Flood - Virginia
[Member name removed] - My name is Chris Thompson and I am the Marketing/Public Relations Manager for John C. Flood and I was recently made aware of your unsatisfactory experience with us. We certainly don't like to have customers come away with bad experiences. I did a little digging and it sounds like there was an issue with the flushing of disposable baby/sanitary wipes, which has been flagged as a major problem for stopping up sewage lines. We posted an article on our website back in November 2013 noting national news stations running segments on the growing issues with disposable wipes and the increasing problems being caused to sewer lines. It sounds like that may be the primary issue in this case. Here is a snippet from the article: Exercise care when disposing of wipe products "Many companies, including Charmin and Up & Up, advertise that their wipes can be thrown in the toilet after use. But after performing a test on several brands to determine how easily they dissolve in water, the source found that only one company, Cottonelle, produced wipes that actually deteriorated. The easiest way to avoid these problems is to toss your used wipes in the garbage or recycling instead of down the toilet." We hope we could come to an agreement on this issue so both parties involved can walk away without any additional issues. Kind regards, Chris Thompson

The HVAC service was excellent. I called and they were at the house within two hours. He did a great job and spent time explaining issues to me. I will continue to use them on a service contract. The estimator for the repair was also prompt, but he was rude and was dismissive of my questions. I also requested an electronic copy of the estimate, which he promised, but had to call two additional times to get it. I scheduled an appointment and confirmed the business day before to ensure checking time. The contractor was suppose to arrive between 730 and 930, but I was told I was the first customer so expect an early arrival. I called the company at 915 and told that he was still 45 minutes out. He arrived at approximately 1015. I was promised a camera to check the pipes, but was told that it was on another job. They did bring the camera, but it took an extra 45 minutes. They were missing one PVC joint and went to get it, but then realized it was the wrong size and had to get another pipe. The two men were very good, apologized and did excellent work, but the job was not finished until 1:15. I had expected the job to be done no later than 10:30. They did do an extra repair of the toilet at no cost. If you have extra time to wait, they are a good company. What was frustrating for me was that I thought I had clearly expressed my need for an early morning appointment, I could have scheduled any day, and they told me that all was set, but it seemed like a bait and switch with the scheduling.
Description of Work: I used John C Flood for two jobs: a service contract for HVAC and to repair a frozen sewer pipe that is on the outside of the house.

We were extremely satisfied with the punctuality and professionalism of the plumbers and will definitely use them again.
Description of Work: We had a pipe leaking in the garage Friday evening. We called John C. Flood on Saturday morning and a plumber arrived late morning. He was able to diagnose the problem and fix the leak. He then snaked the drain from the kitchen sink. The company came back on Monday morning to again snake the drain with a longer rod.

The company did an excellent job. Dan Mayo (the point of contact for this job) was very professional, positive, and great to work with from beginning to end. Provided me a very good price and he went the extra mile to work with us on some additional considerations in for which he found a way to avoid having to damage some landscaping where the lateral had to come into the basement underground (something that the other companies I got a quote from said could not be avoided). They were very timely, and Dan kept me apprised of the status throughout the entire project. When some unforeseen challenges came up (due to the rockiness of the ground they were having to bore through), they worked through them in excellent fashion. Their use of a remote controlled directional boring tool kept the amount of grass that got dug up to an absolute minimum. At the end, the crew did a very good job replacing the dirt in the few places the grass did get dug up (as required because of the long distance involved from the street to our house), and then laying down grass seed plus protective covering... I'm very glad I went with JC Flood for this job. Thank You ! John P.

Out of all the other plumbers I have called, they are the most consistent on getting back with me and showing up. I think some things seem a little pricey, but I don't really have knowledge in what plumbing costs. If there is a problem, they come right back to check and fix the issues. I renew with an annual contract and I get 10% off the bill. They also place paper covers over their shoes before entering the home.

Discovered the leak around 10 a.m.and called John C. Floor who had someone here in about 90 minutes. The technician--Harry--replaced the elbow--and was in and out in about 40 minutes. He was professional and courteous. The price included Angie's list discount. I would use them again for other plumbing issues.

They wired it so that the ac worked during generator use. The generator does not have enough power to run the ac. Also, the battery exploded after three years and two months. (Of course, warranty expired at three years.) During the Derecho, the generator failed. I called them. They came and changed the oil and filter. Still broken. It was only then that I found out that they are only certified to install and do minor service....no repairs. Would have been nice if I had been told that. Why would I have called them during the Derecho, if I knew they couldn't fix it???? I told them about the wiring needing to be rewired. It took me one full year to get the check to cover the rewiring. For regular ac and heat, they are expensive, but do good work. For generators, go to someone who is certified to do repairs.
Description of Work: Had them as heater and ac checkup folks for 20 years. Also had new heating system put in. All that went fine. The trouble started when I had them install a $6,000 generator.

The plumber came within the time frame established. The plumber, Damon, was courteous, friendly and quite professional. He really knew what he was doing and carefully explained each step that he was taking and what the problem was. I didn't ask him to actually fix the problem (a leak around the floor of the bathtub) because I already had scheduled workers to come to my house the next day to work on other things. This firm was exactly what I was looking for since the previous plumbing company I used turned out to be a nightmare!

We have been very pleased with John C. Flood of Virginia. We have a service contract that covers plumbing and HVAC. (The service contract costs $250 annually, and that partially explains the modest cost for this service visit. ) In this instance, Damon, one of the company's plumbers, quickly fixed the problem with our Insinkerator and offered us some helpful advice about the plumbing in our house.

I wouldn't use anybody else because they're very thorough and they fix it the first time. You don't have to call them back. They're very, very good. I think the price is pretty reasonable for the area, what they do, and as thorough as they are. Things that I don't even ask for like when they redid part of the heating ventilation system, he put in a nicer thermostat for me. It's just something they do. I call and they say if they can't do it today, they'll be here tomorrow morning and they're here.

The technician arrived on time. He did a thorough inspection of the furnace - this was an annual checkup. He also repaired a pipe attached to my Aprilaire that was leaking. He explained everything to me and was very pleasant. I decided to get an annual maintenance package that would cover both the furnace and air conditioning system. The cost seemed reasonable. I originally used Flood with a Groupon 1-2 years ago and have used them since then. I appreciate the way that the technicians inspect what they're supposed to and don't try to sell me additional services - nor do they bad mouth previous service people.
