They arrived within 2 hours, took a few minutes to figure out the problem because the leak was just a slow drip, but once he did, he had the part on the truck and was able to fix it. From the time I called to the time it was fixed was 3 hours. It was great, they got it done for a VERY reasonable price for an emergency call (total 189 parts and labor), and was done before I needed to leave for my trip.
Description of Work: Woke up to my hot water heater having leaked a ton of water onto my floor and even into the next room. Ended up being a leaky pressure relief valve. I was going out of two at 3pm, so I needed it fixed ASAP.

I have a two year service contract with them. They are very good people. The service contract price is very reasonable. If you have to call them because something else goes wrong in the house if you have a service contract you get a discount and don't have to pay for the diagnostic service. Their responsiveness is very good. They will call or email usually an hour ahead before the technician arrives.
Description of Work: I use John C Flood for heating and air conditioning. They come twice a year to make sure the heat pump and furnace are working correctly. They also service the house humidifier in the winter time. Once a year they also check my water heater.

Luke the JC Flood service tech called ahead and arrived on time. He did a once over of the boiler and checked out the zone controller and found that two of the zones were reversed and straightened them out. He was very thorough and gave some advice on the boiler and its care. The call was covered under warranty which made me happy.
Description of Work: Had what seemed to be a problem with a recently installed zone controller for a new boiler. It appeared to be indicating the status on the wrong zones. There also seemed to be a problem with the boiler "short-cycling".

I have dealt with several service technicians. They have all been very responsive, thorough, and professional. I'm especially happy with the plumbing work because I've had poor experiences with some other firms.
Description of Work: I have an annual service contract with John C. Flood. They visit twice a year to check my furnace and A/C. I have also used them for plumbing problems when those occur -- most recently to repair a faulty water line and then to fix a pinhole leak.

They were wonderful to have. My plumber said they have been around awhile. The issues were the yard was left a mess. I thought they were suppose to fix that but they are not. The guy stayed really late on a Friday. They came out right away. The price was high but I think that is what it is. They came on the weekend.

There are two John C Flood Companies. We used the one in Maryland and Virginia. Not the one in Washington, DC. We have a service contract with them. If we ever have a problem we go to them for the problem and then we have a long term maintenance contract with them. They do like twice a year checks, spring and fall. I am sure on the long term maintenance contract the price of the maintenance calls are included in the price.
Description of Work: We had a furnace problem in the winter and they were out for that.

Our AC unit (HVAC) went down and we called John C Flood to get an estimate. The man was polite but full of crap.. Frankly I think he saw 'female' and thought 'easy mark'. He tried to tell us the unit was beyond its years (its only 5 years old), that the repairs he wanted to do (failed condensor fan motor, fan blade, 45+5 dual capacitor) were absolutely needed and would cost 1800.00 to 2000.00. HOWEVER, he could not guarantee the repairs would work. Then suggested we buy a new unit saying it would cost between 6000.00 - 10,000.00. He was very convincing, saying it made more since to buy a new one over throwing money at the older unit. Seriously, do they send their repairman to classes on how to get the most money out of the customer?? We thanked him politely and sent him away. After a sweltering August night without AC, we called Sears. Their repairman came out, took a quick looked at the unit.. (literally 2 minutes)... and replaced one Motor Run Capacitor ($50.00) and had the unit up and running again. We will not be calling John C Flood again... ever. If you deal with this company, ALWAYS GET A SECOND OPINION. Avoid being over-charged or bamboozled into buying more than you need. UPDATE: Since posting John C Flood has called twice, the first time they called to apologize and they refunded the fee charged for consultation on fixing the AC. The second time the actual repairman called and he also apologized for any misunderstandings. Will we use them in the future? I do not believe so. This isn't the first time we've used their company and felt like we were being fleeced by the end. (emergency repairs to pipes etc). I think we just finally had enough.

This Fujitsu h/ac system is a bear to maintain, and periodically I have to have Flood come out to fix something that has worn out or gone wrong. This time a part needed to be replaced; it was ordered quickly; within a week the part arrived; and Shane came out to do the repair. All is working well. Good service.

Provider tested, and eliminated several points of failure before identifying the leak (bathtub drain). *Tech was very courteous, and professional, knew how to troubleshoot. *Tech was on time, and asked appropriate questions before starting work. *Cost was reasonable *Tech spent a good amount of time testing the new pipes and drain to confirm that we would not have any future issues. Overall, I am very happy with my experience using John C Flood, and that they were able to accommodate my Sunday request without any issues.

It went extremely well. Dale was on time, knowledgeable, and professional. No complaints.
Description of Work: Home under contract. Home inspector noted HVAC unit opening at bottom needed a cover. Tech (Dale Gunn) was very knowledgeable and explained that the louvered door acted as a grill and that the opening noted (return air to unit) was not to be covered or obstructed. Wrote up same. Was very knowledgeable and professional. Highly recommend.

I was in Florida and got a call from my cat sitter stating that there was water all over the floor. So I scheduled a flight home as soon as possible and contact John C Flood to get an appointment scheduled as soon as possible, while still in Florida. They were able to scheduled me for an appointment as soon as I got back in town. So I was scheduled for the appointment immediately. They were able to solve the problems. I was very happy with the work. Their prices are reasonable and I will definitely be using this company for my future service needs.

We use them for all our plumbing and they are really good. We use them for our plumbing, electrical and also air conditioning and heating. They are a family company and they have been around for a very long time and they give really good service. If you have the service contract, they come that very day or if they are very late -the next day; same thing for the heating and air conditioning. They are always very professional. They always get the job done and their price is very competitive. If anything is not right, they will gladly come back and fix it. We have been using them for over ten years and we have never had a complaint against them.

After calling 3 other services on the *day before Thanksgiving* and being told "not till Monday". Had almost given up hope. My call to John C. Flood saved the day. I explained the catastrophe (pump not working, pit overflowing, and pipe joint burst) I was told that one of their plumbers had just finished a job and was about 20 minutes away. In 20 minutes, the door bell rang and Victor (Dr. Vic) introduced himself. He surveyed the problem and gave me a couple of options from most preferred, long term fix, to something that would get me through the weekend. I went for the long term fix. He got the pipe cleared, installed the new check valve and in the process, made the whole installation much cleaner than before (fewer joints and fewer rubber connections). Very pleased with Victor's work and would request him by name if I need future plumbing work done.

The provider made a mess of an entire room. He laid down papers but the gunk was everywhere. I am still finding it on the upper cabinets and the cabinet where the drain was snaked is ruined - he never cleaned up his mess. The issue needed additional attention - the plumber said that someone from the company would call the next morning to schedule a follow up. Never heard a peep - and we are four days after that promise was made.

Selecting JC Flood to install our new AC and Furnace then writing this review are no-brainers. From the very start JC Flood provided exceptional service. The sales Associate, Jake Hailsip, was very accommodating in extending his day to meet with us to discuss our options. Before leaving we had two excellent quotes that better than those of two other companies. After some final negotiation we had an exceptionally cost effective approach to replace not only the failed AC but also the aged furnace. Jake and the schedulers were then able to work our installation in before the end of the following heat wave week. The installation team was exceptionally competent, professional and polite. They arrived on time, finished on schedule, cleaned up everything and left us very satisfied. We look forward to years of having JC Flood come out to perform their inspections and preventative maintenance.

As always, the technician sent by John C. Flood was very knowledgeable. Their office called in advance when their technician was on the way. He arrived within the scheduled time window. He identified the problem quickly and fixed it. Then he did additional diagnostic work to make sure there was not a less-visible second problem. He even removed the exhaust duct from the boiler so he could look inside the chimney and make sure the air flow was unobstructed. That duct is in an inconvenient spot, surrounded by piping. Removing the duct was hard but he just did it. Replacing the duct was harder but he just did that, too (and there were no leftover screws!). Most of the cost of the service was covered by the maintenance contract. That saved us money. Also, after several years of service by this company, I would note that they are very thorough. At the same time they have been frugal. Different technicians servicing the heat and the cooling systems have discussed frankly whether a certain part needed to be replaced NOW or maybe later, and possible consequences of that decision. Our AC is an older system but they have kept it working longer than we have a right to hope. I have been very happy with this company.
Description of Work: We have had a maintenance contract with John C. Flood for several years. They provide annual service for our heating system (boiler with radiant heat) and air conditioning. There were some surprisingly cool days in May where we needed a little heat. When we had no heat one evening we called for non-emergency service under the contract. Their very knowledgeable technician arrived first thing the next morning. He quickly identified the problem and resolved it.

They came within 24 hours of my call (faster than other providers could provide). Showed up within service window. Quick identification of the problem, and replacement of thermostat. They were selling a thermostat on and quot;specialand quot;, but when I compared to online price, it turned out their thermostat on special was more expensive. After some convincing and haggling with the front office, they gave me a good discount, so I was satisfied. Technician also gave me some personal tips on how to approach fixing a bum electrical outlet in my house.
