Did fine. Responsive, quality work. Donnell supervised and pitched in when needed. All around good work and would recommend. I will use them again.

They did a good job. I think for my size yard they were a little high, but other than that they did ok. I did have them back at the end of Winter, and they cut down our fig tree for some reason. They offered to replace it, but for the life of me I still can't figure out why they did that.

J & J is very responsive and polite. They are professional, and their work was very good. They cleaned up all debris. It seemed expensive, though.

I was worried because we closed on our house and the new owners wanted the leaves picked up before settlement. It was thanksgiving week and they came out to do the major job and did a follow up the morning of the settlement, and the new owners and I thought they did an outstanding job. I was amazed at their professionalism and customer service, while a couple landscapers didn't even bothered to call back which I am fine with now. They did a great job and were reasonable in price for the size of the yard.

Donnell Jones arrived promptly for the estimate appointment and then provided information for the lawn maintenance as well as the estimate for the french drain and gravel installation. I had several questions which were answered by both Donnell as well as James Derrington, the President of J&J, and Maggie Modlin. Once those were answered, we went ahead and had the work done. This is a small thing, but given that I didn't know when the work would be done or the details of what installing a French drain were, I was surprised that I had to make the call to Miss Utility rather than J&J Landscape making the call. As a result, when faced with questions like whether or not there would be blasting, I had to say I don't know. I would think that the company would make the call given that they know the scheduling of the work as well as details on equipment being used, etc. Once that call was made, the work began. Weather didn't cooperate so we had some delays. Another thing that did catch me off guard is that when I had the estimate appointment, I mentioned that we had boulders in our yard and I pointed them out as one of reasons we couldn't grow grass and had ponding. I was surprised to find out after the work began that J&J was surprised by the boulders and that this would cost me extra. I asked for the estimate and once received, went ahead with the work. The work proceeded and the result is quite nice. I am pleasued at how nice our backyard looks and received good instructions in terms of watering the new sod. We've since had rain and not experienced the problems we had in the past with ponding. The maintenance work done with the weeding and trimming was terrific and our yard looks better than it has in years. The work under the deck to weed and lay the gravel is also well done. So all in all, despite the two hiccups, I would definitely recommend J&J Landscape.

They were responsive. THey addressed any issues we had with the project. They always dealt with us fairly. The work took about 2 weeks to complete.

Compared to other landscapers, the price was lower, but the quality high. We have recieved complements from our neighbors on how nice our yard looks. The work was done professionally and quickly. Our front yard looks great, especially with the new stone retaining wall and plants. The back yard was also done well and the stone patio is perfect for BBQs and our pets.

We purchased the $899 deal in thinking we could have a small patio installed. The response we received from the project manager was that the work would include clearing our yard of debris and prepping for the patio. However, my husband and I have already cleared all debris from our yard, and it only took us about an hour. We thought that with three guys for eight hours, that we would get a lot more work than clearing debris and prepping the area. The company quoted us an additional ~$3500 to install the patio - and that was with cheap pavers. We received a much better quote and with better quality pavers from another company. This deal may be good for someone with a big yard and a lot of simple work, but it is not the deal we thought it would be. The company responded relatively quickly and had friendly employees; however, we just feel a little misled.

Recently bought a property that needed major landscaping work. Asked three companies to bid on the project. James who is the president of the company came by himself to take a look around and give me an estimate. I was a bit concerned that the president of the company is coming to take a look at the job wondering how big the company might be, but to my surprise when they started the work, it was an army of people and equipment and they did the job on time, very clean and very professional. James gave me a proposal first and then on his own asked if he could come back and take a second look around the property to see if he can save me some money and he actually did. This was not because I told him he was more expensive or anything, it was just second look at the job as he had ideas to save me time and money. The first project was done on time and since then I have done three other projects with him all of which have been done on time and with great care. The man cares about his reputation and it shows.

This was an Angie's List coupon. There was a little miscommunication in the beginning in that J&J didn't realize that I had bought this and they thought I wanted weeding and trimming (which I didn't care about), so they had gone out and given me an estimate. It was quickly cleared up after a phone call. Donnell was friendly once I finally got a hold of him. I told Donnell I was off for the week since I wanted to be there when they came (and do some other house catch-up things). They (3 guys) did arrive on a morning without notice, but it all worked out in the end. They worked really hard and got pretty much everything I needed to do done. It seems that landscaping businesses are fairly expensive in the nova/dc area, but with the quality of work they did, I would definitely use them again. However, I'll probably wait for another Angie's List deal (which, by the way, I feel is going the "Groupon scam" way).

The entire process was wonderful! I decided to get three quotes for a general clean up off my patio. My patio was overgrown and out of control, and a very unappealing place to relax. J&J was very responsive to my request for a quote, the gentleman who did the inspection was prompt and profession; and he engaged in a discussion to understand my needs. Also, the quote for services was sent out with 3 hours of our meeting. The admin staff was also wonderful to work with at J&J, very communicative about the services and keep me in the loop. The team that was sent out was quick and efficient, and they removed all of the debris! And as a condo dweller, the less trash/debris I have to manage, the better! My patio is once again a happy place! I will definitely use J&J in the future!

Very responsive to the request of using the Angie's List Deal. We got an immediate response to the e-mail with the contact person for someone to come see the work to be done. Donnell came out and scheduled the work as soon as we were able to do it as we were in the middle of a large renovation. They cleared a very weed tangled yard, trimmed some trees and bushes, leaving us a very nice yard which we now still enjoy!

The service was good. I did not call them for awhile, but once I did call them, they came out within a couple of weeks. There were no extra charges to the Big Deal. They worked hard and got the job done in the amount of time. I was not sure if it was going to fit in the amount of time I purchased, but they got everything done in the amount of time.

The estimate was done in a timely manner and was very thorough. All interactions with the company were professional. The quality of the work is outstanding. It is clear that the work was done with thought and care, and not rushed. The plants are all good quality and work performed exactly as agreed.

J & J did an absolutely phenomenal job with the planning and installation of this driveway! After conducting hours of research online, I rolled the dice and contacted J&J, and was pleased when Jamie, the owner of the company, came out on the same day to walk the property and provide an overview of how he thought the project should look. As I have minimal experience in landscape design, I relied on Jamie for his best advice, and I am SO GLAD I did! A few days after he walked the property, he sent me a professional, detailed estimate of the work to be performed. In addition, he set a proposed work start date, which he stuck to. Moreover, while he estimated the job would take two days to complete, I was as pleased as punch to come home from work on the day the work started (a Friday) to find all the work was finished! Before, during, and after, Jamie was always reachable by e-mail or phone and was always pleasant to interact with. I highly recommend him and his company. My wife and I are already saving for our next project--a flagstone patio--and will most certainly hire Jamie to do the work. As a new Old Town resident, I am happy to have an awesome landscape company in my Rolodex.

I contacted J&J on behalf of our Swim and Tennis Club to obtain a quote for the services listed above - one of three services contacted to replace a provider whose work had slipped over the years. J&J had great ratings and was very responsive - James Darrington, an owner, met me at our club and patiently walked the entire property with me as I explained what we were looking for. At my request he prepared a basic lawn maintenance estimate and three additional estimates for capital improvement projects that we were considering. All very professionally bid, and all very competitive. In some cases his estimates were literally half of that of other bidders - far enough below that I questioned what we would get for the money. Ultimately our board chose J&J and we could not be happier. A series of long spring rains put all the landscapers behind around the time our club was due to open, but James ensured his crew completed our spring cleanup the day before we were due to open, an even completed an additional brush removal task (not part of the original quote) that our on-site manager directed (unbeknownst to me) without a complaint or additional bill. WELL ABOVE AND BEYOND our contract and hugely appreciated. We are on our third month with J&J and have thoroughly enjoyed every contact with James, and his friendly office staff. A well-run, affordable, quality-focused service that I'd hire again in a minute.

They responded and gave us a quote quickly. They quoted $550. We went with somebody else because we got a better price on that. It was not a set time; they just said they would come as soon as they could.

On time, every time. Highly recommend. We come home on Friday evening and the place looks great.

They were very professional, and did a nice job. They missed mulching a tree saucer and a few Holy trees. When I informed them, they apologized and sent someone to finish that week. I am very satisfied with their work.

Everything went perfectly once again. We've used J&J a few times now and have always been pleased. Jamie came out to talk through our options on a few little projects we wanted taken care of and promptly provided an estimate (I think the same day...if not then the next day). We asked for one update to the project and he promptly provided an updated price. Communication regarding start date was also excellent. Also, after the price had been settled I called Jamie back and noted that one corner of the yard was about to be converted to a play area for our young boys and asked that his guys pay particular attention in that area. He made sure it was taken care of. It looks great and I have no concerns about my kids' safety. J&J is very professional, does excellent work, uses great materials, and is very easy to work with.
