Luis was amazing to work with. I will definitely be using them again for additional projects at my house. Luis met with me to discuss ideas for my front steps/walkway. He gave me a detailed drawing of the work, photos of what I can expect, and called me to continually update me on the progress of work. The workers themselves were very nice and very professional. They cleaned up everyday.

Great job cleaning up after major renovation that had "trashed" the exterior. Trimmed, weeded, and mulched all beds. Yard looks as good as the house now.

I'd wanted to extend the paver patio in our small backyard for some time, but my husband was hesitant due to the costs and concern about how it would look. The patio that J & J laid and the very reasonable price have both of us smiling. We did have a bit of miscommunication on the start date for this project, primarily due to weather unpredictability, but after the first day we got the schedule sorted out and work went smoothly. I particularly want to commend Donnell, who was our contact with he company. He responded quickly to questions and concerns, and visited the job site regularly while the crew was working. Overall the new patio took slightly under a week to lay. While the area being paved was relatively small, the yard sloped greatly and it took extra effort to level the yard and create a step down to an existing door in the fence. The crew did a beautiful job of tying in existing flower borders through the use of a pea gravel border. They also carefully cut pavers to fit neatly around the A/C unit, existing stairs and drain pipe. They also extended the pavers about a foot under a bump out, making for a clean break between the pavers and the dirt area under the bump out. In a kind gesture, Donnell and the crew removed a very large holly tree from our front yard as well, at no extra cost. I'd wanted to remove the evil plant for as long as we've lived in the house because of its tendency to scratch me, but hadn't for that same reason. I will be forever grateful for this.

We have been using J&J this year for our annual lawn maintenance program. They have taken good care of our lawn and our grass looks great. They come out five times a year to apply various fertilizers. They are great about calling us ahead of time so we can unlock our back gate for them. We also had them do one time work replacing a few boxwood bushes that had died. The crew worked quickly and professionally and the new bushes look great. Wouldn't hesitate to use them next season!

J & J Landscaping Management, Inc based in Alexandria Virginia performed the entire job in a very professional manner with each of our concerns addressed. It was incredibly easy to contact Luis by cell phone or text, making the whole process pleasurable. We would recommend their services without reservation. Luis worked with us every step of the way - including a very professional initial diagram to help work out any concerns we had about the aesthetics of the job. Well done! We look forward to having them come back to do additional work in the future.

It wasn't as good. The ferns that they were going to provide was a good deal, but a lot of things that I thought were going to be included weren't. I thought it was very expensive, I felt it was a little misleading. The quality was good and I had a difficult time trying to get a hold of them. The pricing was difficult, I only used them because of the deal.

The crew of three came right on time and they worked hard and weeded out most of the weed in the back yard by the end of the day and came the next morning to finish one hour they were supposed to perform and did a great job. However, the weeds they took out came back in a month after the rain and became really difficult to kill completely. I assume it was not their fault because the weeds were planted by our former tenant and we do not really know what they were and have no idea how to kill them all.

I worked with Donnell and he was very helpful and cooperative. The crew showed up on time, worked hard, and did a good job.

The team showed up at 8am ready to work and within hours I could see a huge difference. They worked hard all day, got to areas we weren't sure there would be time to reach, and cleaned up professionally. They were friendly, polite, and professional. I would use them again in heartbeat!

Before they began, the backyard was full of debris, had no plants and was not properly graded. Workers were on time, were polite and the work was done very well. It has been two months since they did the work and the backyard is a living, breathing beautiful area now. Everything with this company went so well -- from the initial consultation with Donnel, to the scheduling, and the actual work -- I hired them back to do my front yard and will use their services in the future.

Great! I had them clean up my yard last year and did so again this year. They were pretty flexible with what I wanted to get done and was able to discuss it with Donnell and why I wanted the shrubs pruned to where the ground was clear. Basically, i wanted it to have a neat look. I liked that they listened to what I wanted and also applied their expertise to make it look great!

Everything that you read about Donnell Jones in Angie's List Reviews is true! He is punctual, professional and knowledgeable. The crew was also very professional and did a great job cleaning up the overgrown yard of the home we just purchased--the newly defined and mulched flower beds look 100% better. We enjoyed working with Donnell and crew so much that signed up for J&J's annual lawn service, and are excited to see what our grass will look like next spring/summer.

Scheduling was professional and timely. Donnel Jones Operations Manager was professional and knowledgeable. The work was accomplished and the results were excellent They missed mulch around two trees on the edge of my yard, but when notified they immediately resolved the problem.

There was a three man crew to perform the work. The work which mostly involved digging a trench in hard soil seemed very hard. However, the men kept working despite the hard labor and finished what I needed to have done and cleaned up everything afterward.

J&J was absolutely fantastic. Donnell came out to our house a few weeks ago to give an estimate - he was punctual (early even!), polite, and had lots of good advice. The work J&J ultimately did came in to exactly what was quoted. The day work was set to begin, Donnell came out early before we left for work, so that we could discuss some last minute changes. The previous owner of our house had over-planted the yard, so there were flowers, shrubs, and weeds everywhere--including on top of each other. The J&J team removed out all of the plant material we didn't want, discovered and restored brick edging that had been covered over, moved existing plants to better locations, trimmed back trees and shrubs, and just did an overall amazing job. Our yard and back patio look so much cleaner and more appealing than they did before. When James, the owner, emailed with the final bill, I asked if it would be possible for his guys to come out and establish a cut edge along our front walkway. It was done the same afternoon. We highly recommend J&J and look forward to working with them again in the future.

Over the winter of 2014 we moved into a single family home in northern VA with a good sized lawn and hedges / bed areas. Due to work / travel schedule we knew we would need to look to a landscaping company to refresh the look of the property and provide regular turf management. In years past I had used a patchwork of different providers on different seasons at our previous residence (also Northern VA), and wanted to find one company that could do all the components under one contract. I contacted four different companies to provide estimates. In looking at the estimates, it seemed to me that J and J had really looked at the property, and made good recommendations for work based on our property, type of hedges and trees, and current condition of the lawn and bed areas. Some of the other estimates looked more cookie cutter, and in communicating with the various providers over phone / email I further got the sense that J and J had provided and estimate that best matched the needs of the property. So far, J and J has competed a Spring Cleanup consisting of weed and leaf removal, pruning, mulching, and establishing a dug edge to define turf from bed areas. They are also mowing weekly and operating a fertilization / weed control schedule. The Spring Cleanup was a good sized job, and we are really happy with the results. Their crew was out for three days at our property and did an outstanding job. They hand-dug the edge area between the turf and bed areas, and it looks great. The pruning and mulching has made a big improvement on the hedges / shrubs. I have had the opportunity to communicate with Mr. Jones, their operations manager who completed the estimate and has been the primary point of contact, Mr. Derrington, who founded J and J, and the crew who came to our home to do the Spring Cleanup. They have all been knowledgeable, responsive, and professional. Mr. Jones in particular has been really helpful in setting up the work specific to the needs of the property. If you are looking for a comprehensive landscaping company that can do regular mowing, a fertilization / weeding program, and landscaping, and want to support a local northern VA business, from our experience we 100% recommend J and J.

J&J team is one of the most professional teams that I have seen. They staged the work into phases to make sure step by step the outdoor living area is build step by step without damaging the areas around it and then started to planting process that took over 3 weeks (They did take their time which was nice). They did finish everything in time and exceeded my expectation. I will certainly hire them to do more work in the near future.

Luis is extremely creative with his design. His reliable, artistic, hard-working team implemented an amazing stacked stone fire pit, flagstone patio, several sets of stone steps, retaining walls, a gaming bed, lighting, and more. J&J's prices are reasonable (we got several estimates) and they are willing to work within your budget. Their work is detail-oriented, and the team is reliable, hard working, and pleasant. They were perfectionists with their craft and went above and beyond to make us happy. Also, they started when they said they would and completed the project on-time and within budget. It was great. They knew it wasn't going to take the full 8 hours so they provided mulch and debris removal for free of charge. They were really good. Scheduling was easy.
