Homm Certified Painting Systems

We hired Homm to paint our exterior to include iron railings and small deck. We went with Homm based on their quote along with their reviews - both through Angie's List customers and a personal friend who used them. They did an excellent job and we were thoroughly satisfied. All communication with Andres (the owner) was prompt and curteous. The crew showed up both days on time and was very efficient. They addressed every issue we had to include circling back and applying extra coats of paint to our front door, since the original black color bled through a little bit.

It went very well and quickly. They did a great job and cleaned up well.

We were SO impressed! Their price was unbeatable - we paid around $1750 for everything (and we have a lot of cabinets). It was such a great deal that a few people had told us it was too good to be true. Our cabinets and walls turned out perfect! The team were finished within a day and a half, which we thought was extremely quick considering they had to paint 20 cabinet doors with 2 coats. Andres was very responsive and accommodating throughout the process. We are already planning to use Hömm again for our next project.

I wish there were more companies like Hӧmm in this area. They are among the very best of those I’ve had work on my properties in Northern Virginia over nearly 20 years. They did an excellent job of making our house look new again and pay unparalleled attention to customer satisfaction. Andres Matheu, the owner, came to assess our job. He gave an estimate for the siding work, stating that the actual cost would be based on time and materials. He provided options for repainting or stripping and staining the siding. While it was more expensive, we opted for returning the house to its original stained finish. After resolving the details of the contract, the crew arrived to work on June 28. This was a big project spanning 4 weeks during the summer of 2016. The workers generally arrived between 8am and 9am and worked until 5pm or 6pm or even later during the final stages of the project. The crew of about 3-6 (depending on the day) was courteous and hard-working. The foreman, Roger Ilovares, clearly communicated any issues as the project progressed and was dedicated to my satisfaction as a customer. As the job began, I kept approximate count of worker hours to understand what the project was costing. When I received an accounting different from my own from the owner and expressed concern, I was provided with a daily report of hours worked at the end of each work day from there on. (It turned out I was not always aware of the size the crew each day.) The project did cost substantially more than the original estimate, but that was in large part due to our choice of a lighter stain color than Andres had in mind when estimating the project cost. The lighter color required finer and more extensive attention to preparing the surface of the cedar siding for stain. We were warned of this trade-off before choosing the stain color. After we received the final invoice, the crew returned for a morning to finish installing screens, clean up the grounds and attend to miscellaneous details including installing new flood light bulbs for us while they were up on the ladders. Based on my experience, I can highly recommend Hӧmm for any exterior painting, carpentry and/or staining project. While the cost of our project was higher than expected, it was worth the extra money to achieve the superior results Hӧmm delivered. Thank you Andres, Roger and everyone else at Hӧmm.

Excellent! I am 100% satisfied with my experience with Hömm Certified Painting Systems. The price was lower than many others from whom I got bids, the workmanship was outstanding, and the customer interface with both the owner Andres and the foreman Roger was first rate. The rest of the crew were also highly professional throughout the process. I had zero negative issues, zero surprises (except good ones) and they went out of their way to ensure we were satisfied with various specific steps in the process throughout the job. I'd hire them again in a heartbeat!

Excellent! Everything went smoothly from start to finish; crew was professional, friendly, and flexible. The house looks amazing with the new fresh look and color. We have been in our house for 7 years and finally have the ability to start to make some improvements. The painting job done by Homm is a great start! We are very happy, as well as our neighbors, with the results.

It went very well. 3 crew members arrived on time in the morning. They know what they are doing. They spent 3 days to paint my house. My house looked beautiful after painting. My neighbor was impressed. He came to me asking for the phone number. I happily provided.

Great work from start to finish. Andres is a perfectionist. When he surveyed the job he insisted that the whole contiguous ceiling area should be painted after the repair work (not just spot painting of the repairs). I fretted about the cost, but he said he would give me a good price and was as good as his word. The crew arrived on time, did excellent work and cleaned up after themselves. The ceiling looks just great again.

We are extremely pleased with Hömm Certified's work on our home. Andres Matheu arrived at the scheduled time for an estimate on painting the exterior of our house that hadn't been painted in well over 35 years--lots of loose paint. He walked around the house with me, confirming all that we needed/wanted done, and he answered all of my questions. (As promised, he emailed our estimate the very next day.) He was very friendly and professional, and I never felt pressured to accept their services. Of the three estimators I had talked to, Andres was the only one who suggested the possibility of lead paint, and he told me the extra charge if our trim were to test positive. (Our trim did test positive, and the crew took precautions by suiting up, wearing masks, and surrounding the house with a wide swath of plastic to catch all of the loose paint from scraping.) The hard-working crew arrived on time each morning and worked steadily throughout the day. Walter, the crew chief (I think), kept me informed of what was being done and let me know at the end of each day when they were ready to leave and asked if I had questions. The crew was very respectful of the grounds and cleaned up each day when they were through. They taped up anything that needed protection (AC lines, flood lights, exhaust pipes), so the finished job looked very crisp and clean. They even took off the house numbers and repainted them before replacing. At the end of the project, as well as at the end of each day, the grounds were left spotless. Walter also replaced a piece of rotted wood that was a bit tricky because of its unusual design, but it came out beautifully--my husband commented that it was exactly as he wanted! True professionals. Thanks so much Andres, Walter, and crew. We'll definitely request your services again when we paint our interior!

it was great. The staff were experienced and helpful. The estimating process was clear and detailed. The price as competitive with other vendors considering the size of our house I had a reasonable idea of how much it would cost before we started. The work was pristine. The painters had to paint over 40, 12-pane windows. The work was meticulous. When we realized at the end of the process that we had forgotten to add two walk-in closets, there was no problem. They even helped empty them out. I will recommend Homm to anyone who asks.

During the first walk around the house, Andres Matheu, was attentive to our concerns. His proposal noted these concerns, and they were passed on the the foreman and crew. He was open to detailed discussion of the primer and paint to be used on the various surfaces. As the work progressed, communication with the foreman was good; he encouraged questions. The crew devoted considerable time and effort to scraping and preparing the surfaces prior to painting them. The crew arrived on time every morning, and cleaned up at the end of every day. Damage to shrubs and plants was minimal. The house looks great. Best experience with a painting contractor ever. Would use them again and recommend them to others.

From the time of the initial estimate in May through the completion of the project in July, I found Homm Certified Painting Systems to be a highly professional and responsive service provider. The work crew arrived on the scheduled date and was punctual, courteous, industrious and highly competent. They carefully prepared surfaces by scraping and sanding loose paint, primed bare wood and applied two coats of a premium paint. During the work they protected necessary adjacent areas and were careful of plantings. Upon completion of the work, their cleanup of the area was especially noteworthy.

They were timely in preparing an estimate for this work and their price was very competitive with the other estimates we received for this job. They were easy to contact and promptly returned messages. They showed up on the scheduled date to start painting. The quality of the painting was excellent and they completely cleanup up the job site. There were no paint spills or drops on the adjoining deck.

Andres was prompt and professional in all his dealings with me. He answered all my questions as we walked around the house. He was never pushy, but did make suggestions when I asked or looked like I didn't have a clue. Ultimately, we went another direction only because we got a killer unbeatable deal. I would happily recommend Andres and Homm to anyone looking to do interior painting.

Andres came out to determine the scope of the work. I appreciate that details of the work to be completed were listed in the contract agreement. Walter and his crew were neat and careful and did an excellent job overall. They were accommodating, working around concerns of our immediate neighbor. Walter was quite open to feedback and takes pride in doing a good job. Andres communicated regularly through the entire process. Overall, everyone was professional. It was a good experience and I am very pleased with the outcome. I will not hesitate to call on Homm again, and highly recommend them.

Homm's owner spent considerable time meeting with us to understand everything we wanted done and to advise on approaches to doing it. He gave us a thorough and accurate estimate. The crew showed up on time and did an excellent job cleaning up every day. The outside work was power washing and painting our brick house and all trim; also some carpentry. All was done very well and with attention to detail. We also had several rooms painted inside the house - also excellent work. We plan to use this company again.

All was done as promised - on time and smoothly. They work very hard and independently, only asking for direction when needed.

Great crew. Always on time. Nice and clean. Very helpful crew and owner is great - he came by on day 1 to check on the progress of the job. Everything was very professional and I'm hoping to hire them again to paint other rooms in my house and next spring, hire them to paint the outside of my house.

A crew of 7 painters did the work. Because there were so many of them, they are in many rooms at the same time. It's nice to get the work done quickly, but it's a real pain to have wet paint absolutely everywhere. The paint job itself is very good. This is the first time I have ever had my house painted, and not ended up with windows painted shut. Apparently if you know what you're doing, this is possible. They were very careful to cover everything, including the pendant lights in the kitchen to avoid drips. They were also careful not to break the glass covers on the lights, which was important to us as there is no way to get replacement glass covers. There are very few drips, none that I have seen on the carpet. Some of the attendant services were not as great. Shades were taken down to paint window frames then reinstalled incorrectly. They did return promptly to correct the issue. Some picture hangers that were supposed to be left in place were removed and holes filled. This means we have to reinstall shelves that are very hard to level. They were happy to return our boxes to the rooms in which their contents belonged, but unfortunately they got some of it wrong, and we didn't discover that until after they had left. Obviously we were not going to all them back to move boxes. It was just unfortunate. They were also willing to move furniture to a different spot in the room rather than just putting it back where it came from. This was very appreciated by a couple of geezers who can't lift heavy things anymore. We definitely got the impression that they were rushing through our job, perhaps because it was Thanksgiving week. It was very inconvenient to have them stay until about 7p.m. on their first day of painting. It would have been nice to be warned that they would be here late.

This was a huge job that spanned several weeks. due to the scope of the job and impacts of weather. Homm worked with me to assess the effectiveness of the process I wanted and that they could deliver with test areas on the house. Once the process was mutually approved, the process began. The team was on time, courteous and knowledgeable. I was given status reports on a regular basis. Progress was at a good pace, considering the weather. The final step of staining was initiated with a test patch on the house for proper color match. Once approved, the staining stage went forward on a timely manner. Final steps of trim painting, touch up and clean up was all complete and in the expected timeframe. The final cost was below the estimate and within our expectations. A job well done.

The estimate was prepared carefully and promptly. It was one of three estimates--not the lowest or highest. The painting team, 4 to 6 at any one time, showed up promptly and worked steadily through most of two days. I was extremely impressed with the care the painters took to protect the furniture and floor. They answered all questions patiently and carefully throughout the work. I've contracted with several painting firms over the years and have never had a more positive experience: this crew was extremely professional -- no amateurs in this crew! I took time to inspect all the painted surfaces, carrying a shop light. (Painters must hate this!). They did an excellent job. I would recommend them without hesitation.
