Angie's' List does give the providers a chance to respond to reviews from their customers; that would be a fair practice if the provider has the integrity to accept his/her share of responsibility for a job poorly done. That is not the case for Andre or Homm Painters. His response essentially called me a liar after I reported how his crew left the job. His crew left a large white hazy smear of white paint on a mauve colored wall; they also left very sloppy globs of paint on the windows of the french doors they had painted. His response stated that the sloppy paint was not left by his crew as I had reported, but there from a previous job. It is infuriating that he would answer my compliant this way, even after he came to the house and to see the job, actually removing the paint his crew left on the window with his fingernail - which is the litmus test for new paint. It is equally infuriating that he could respond to my complaint on Angies list by calling me a liar, and I have no other recourse to respond to that. I still have the pictures, Mr. Homm. And even more incriminating, the room has not been re-painted since your crew had been there, so I also still have the white paint smear on the mauve wall that they left - which is thankfully hidden behind a couch. I could take a picture of that, too - I wonder how you would try to call me a liar about that? Would you say I just put it there because of sour grapes, maybe? Or I am trying to sabotage you? Angies List is supposed to be reference for consumers like me to find a reputable provider, but somehow you have figured out how to thwart that goal. Shame on you, as a provider, and shame on you as a businessman. My rating for your company has gone from a D to an F because of your lack of honesty and integrity by calling me a liar, and your inability to accept and make amends for a job poorly done. My initial review was as follows: Initially, the interaction with the owner, Andre, was very pleasant, and he seemed to be very accommodating. His crew arrived on time the day of the painting. I had ordered the paints to color match to the existing color and picked them up myself before the crew had arrived to save them time. I supplied pizza for the crew for lunch, and they took several breaks over the course of the day, which was fine with me as long as the job was done right. The problem was that the job was not done right. It was about the sloppiest painting job I have ever had done. The crew worked right up to the end of the day (despite all the breaks), and unfortunately I did not have a chance to closely inspect the work before they had gone. As I moved the furniture back into place, I noticed there was a fairly large spot of white haze on the bottom of one of the living room walls, right near the entrance way to the room. It looked as though the painter might have inadvertently gotten some white paint on the wall and tried to clean it without repainting the wall. The trim around the grids on the windows and the french doors were left with quite a bit of overpaint onto the windows around the grids, along with some drips and spots. It was especially bad on the glass doors going into the sunroom, with sloppy lines everywhere and a large paint smudge on one of the panes. The crew seemed to have no concern about the quality of the job being done or fixing obvious errors. This in itself was bad enough, but when I contacted the owner about these issues, he tried to turn it around on me and suggest that I didn't know what I was talking about, and if there was any excess paint on the glass surfaces, it was there before his crew had painted. I was pretty angry that he would not take responsibility for such a poorly done job, so I sent him a picture of the interior french door showing how sloppy they left it. He sent me an email stating that his crew would be back the next morning at 9 am to inspect the job. I immediately called him and told him that I could not take another day off of work, so that was unacceptable - and at that point I was ready to just scrape the excess paint off myself and just never use them again. He continued to argue with me about the condition of the job - going so far as to say that he wouldn't believe me unless he inspected the job himself to see if the paint could be scraped off with a fingernail (a test of fresh paint vs paint that had been sitting a long time). I wanted him to come and see how his crew had left it, so agreed to let him come and see for himself - he said the only time he had available was that evening at 5pm. It was already 4:15, and I work in DC, so I hastily closed up projects and ran out the door in order to accommodate him. I arrived home at 5:05 - after fighting traffic. Andre DID NOT ARRIVE UNTIL 6:30 PM, citing traffic -- failing to observe that I had just dealt with the same traffic and managed to get there close to the agreed time. I had tried calling his cell phone as it got later and later during this waiting time, but he never answered, and never had the decency to try to contact me. In the end, he reluctantly agreed that the job was done very poorly, and he would talk to his crew. I really didn't want to take the time off to let them come back and fix it - I had already put too much effort into this and it was easier for me to just scrape the excess paint off the windows myself. I bought the initial deal through an Angie's list Big Deal, and still owed him $860 for painting 2 rooms. The poorly done job by his crew was bad, but the lack of courtesy and the aggravation caused by the owner when I was dissatisfied was just totally unacceptable. He offered to take $40 off the bill - wow - that was barely enough to cover the wine and ibuprofen I needed after dealing with Andre and Homm Painters - but I took the discount anyway. I will add as a footnote that I did go through Angie's List to find this company - a Big Deal purchase no less. I was very surprised that they were considered a "highly rated" company - they certainly did not live up to that rating in my experience.

I called to schedule an estimate and Andres answered the phone. We scheduled an estimate date and he arrived on time. Andres took notes on what we wanted and emailed us an estimate within two days and we scheduled the work. Due to their volume of work we waited approximately three weeks to get the job started. It was scheduled to be a two-day job and it was - both days the crew arrived promptly at the specified time and cleaned up everything at the end of each day. Andres cheecked in with them multiple times during the day and even called me directly for clarification on the bathroom. This crew did the best "prep" work I have ever seen. From fixing any sort of irregularity in the walls and/or ceiling to having to apply a coat of primer, the surfaces were perfect for the actual painting. The painting went without incident and we are extremly pleased with the result.

Based on recommendations we found on Angie's List, we asked three contractors to provide cost estimates for painting the exterior of our shingled house. Andres Mathieu, the head of Homms, came himself, examined the exterior very carefully and described in detail how his team would proceed with the power-washing, repairs and painting (actually, staining) of the house: the process, the materials, and the timing. Homm's estimate was in the middle of the three bids, but was the more reasonable of the bids that promised the highest quality job. All of the painters and powerwashers were polite, pleasant, efficient and professional, but the team's lead carpenter, Roger, deserves special mention. When Andres gave us the estimate, he had advised us that a carpenter would look at the all of the wood and the shutters and that the carpenter's charges for lumber, materials and labor would be in addition to the estimate, at a published rate. Roger balanced cost and quality considerations as we discussed how to replace or repair deteriorating wood in trim or railings. As a result of Roger's expertise, we now have railings and trim that won't need to be replaced every few years, as we have had to do in the past. We had several questions for Andres in the course of the week, and found that he always responded within the day. He remained accessible and responsive even after the job was completed. The Homm's team did exactly what Andres had described, and did it to perfection. The staining is uniform and reached into the interstices between shingles, the edges where the shingles meet woodwork are perfect, plants near the house were gently tied back so that the painters could access the house, and no mess was left behind on any day nor at the end of the job. In sum, the whole experience was pleasant and calm, and the product is top-notch. And we have a two-year limited warranty should a relevant problem develop. We recommend Homms most highly.

They arrived early but were friendly. It took me a while to explain my color pattern. Fortunately, I did have a few photographs to show them so that they could conceptualize what I wanted. Last week, my dinner quest commented on how terrific the new color pattern in the kitchen looked and it has been over a year. When I finally get the floor done, things will really look good.

i purchased the coupon deal from Homm painting. I was overall disappointed with the misleading way the coupon terms were defined. For instance, it advertised for an entire room. Yet the ceiling wasn't covered nor doors or trims of closets and windows. Basically, you get just the hamburger and no bun or fixings. It was nickel and dime'ing approach which I didn't care for since in the end it cost me way more than another non coupon vendor. Then on top of it they had painting mishaps not to be expected from professional painters. They got paint on clothing item in bedroom, paint on curtains, and in other places that I had to point out to them to fix. They also missed an entire section of one room. Also, they misjudged the time of the job. Clearly more than a day but only scheduled for one day. Thus, they left my house without getting the job done and no plan in place to finish the next day. This left my house in a shambles. Lastly, the lead person was rude to me and arrogant and condescending.

Andres Matheu responded promptly to my request for an estimate for painting the non-brick exteriors of my brick home: an add-on room, porch, trim, and rear stairs. There was a bit of a delay in being able to schedule the actual work, which finally occurred while I was out of town. Nevertheless, Homm Certified Painting Systems did a great job, leaving the items they painted looking like new. It was great to come home from vacation and find my house looking so good. Two of our Neutra house numbers were damaged during painting, but Mr. Matheu ordered replacements and had them installed at company expense. I would not hesitate to hire this company for my future painting needs, and strongly recommend them.

The Homm painters arrived promptly on Wednesday at 8:30..maybe a few minutes early and immediately set to work with their assigned tasks. Each day showed a lot of progress and by the end of the third day all the work was completed to my satisfaction.

I did have Andres come out and he gave me a nice proposal to do the work. I was ready to hire them. I thought the price was good and Andres did seem very detail oriented and knowledgeable. I was ready to call them and have the work done. I decided to read the proposal in detail first. I was very disappointed to see that in the quote they would only put ONE coat of paint on the ceiling, doors, and trim. I was skeptical of this because the home that I purchased is a foreclosure and it has odors, stains, smells, etc. I just was not comfortable with one coat going on the trim and ceiling. All the other quotes that I got were for 2 coats on the trim and ceiling too so in that respect the one coat seemed substandard. The original price was around 5k and they gave me a Angie's coupon discount of around 11 percent. The discount was about 500. However if I wanted to have the two coats put on the ceiling, doors,trim- they wanted to charge me a surcharge of 480. It just did not really work for me for this specific project. The surcharge made the quote higher than the other quotes I got and the willingness to not be thorough made me skeptical. I probably might would consider them for other jobs but for this job it just was not a fit. The one coat of paint on the ceiling just did not work for me. I think someone had smoked in here prior and I really wanted all of that covered up and gotten rid of so to speak. I cannot imagine spending $4,500 and still smelling smoke and such when just one more coat of paint on the ceiling would have fixed it. Who knows maybe the one coat would have been fine but I'm just not in a gambling mood or willing to risk it. But hey that is just me, I can understand that others might be willing to risk it. The entire process with them was nice and they were very professional but unfortunately it was just not a fit for this specific project. I am sure that they would do great work for other projects. Read the fine print, that is my lesson here.

Price quote was better than competitors. On time and on schedule. Quality was a bit off though (stray paint on glass & doorknob, etc)

After several bids we decided they had they offered the best price and we did ot regret our decision to use them. Overall the crew did a great job! They were on time and finished the job quickly. I highly recommend using them.

He showed up when he said he would. He set up the estimate right away when we contacted him. He will be starting the work for us in a few weeks.

They are the best painting people in the whole world. They are so professional. The covered the floor. They covered everything. They moved all the heavy stuff. They cleaned the wood work, windowsill before they paint. They also wiped it after to make sure it is clean. The color that I chose for my living room and dining room was bright. They stopped after a couple of walls after having a look at it. They asked if that was the exact color that I wanted before they continued to finish it. We have gotten so many compliments on their work. The wood work looks gorgeous. The man who supervised the job was also in decorating. I would grade them highly across the board. I would absolute use them in the future.

They were fine. I have no strong opinion for or against them, but I would consider using them again.

Excellent service. Estimate and color consultation handled professionally with clear communication. Foreman and team completed three-day job in two days with superb results.

Initially, Mr. Matheu came out to see the rooms to better estimate the cost of the service. Later, we received the proposed cost to do the job. We agreed on a date and the colors via email. The painters arrived at 8:00 am (on time) on the agreed upon date a few weeks later. They painted all day, did a great job, cleaned up their stuff, and we paid them upon completion of the job. I indicated the price was fair, because It seemed expensive. But then again, I dont know what this type of service should cost and since i did not want to paint myself , I'm sure I paid for that convenience. At the beginning of the job before any paint ever touched a wall, I made sure everyone was clear on what paint color went where and periodically checked on the work. All went well, and I am very pleased. I would definitely recommend/ use their service again.

They finished the work in the specified time, and left the place clean. We would recommend them to anybody.

I could not be more satisfied with Homm. Their painters were fast, very efficient and did tremendous quality work. Our house now looks fabulous because of the quality work they did. Mr. Matheiu also helped us with color matching to select the right wall colors to match our new window treatments. His color selections were absolutely perfect. The walls look fantastic with our new window treatments. We will definitely be using Homm again. Our house will need to be fully painted on the exterior in the spring of 2012. While I always competitively shop prices and capabilities, I'm sure I will be using Homm again. Mr. Matheiu is very professional in his work, and his team of painters follow his example. Because it rained on the first day, we were fortunate to have two teams painting our rooms. They worked fast, were always polite and made every effort to accomodate any touch-up changes I wanted.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal coupon for $565 to have three rooms painted. Andres made an appointment to come to my house to measure and plan for the job. My coupon covered the painting for my living room, home office, and hallway ? and then I paid extra for the foyer (with high ceiling), stairways, and another hallway, as well as for the paint itself. Andres made helpful suggestions for paint type and colors, as I was having difficulty making a decision. Because of my work commitments, I needed to postpone the work and Andres was very gracious about that. In the interim, he promptly returned my calls and emails, and scheduled the work at a time convenient to both of us. The day of the job, Omar and his two associates arrived on time, and Omar walked around with me reviewing the details of the job they would do. They moved the furniture, and covered everything. They prepped before painting, caulking gaps on trim and repairing cracks and holes in the walls. Andres stopped by in the afternoon to see how everything was going. They finished all the painting in one day ? two coats of paint, cleaned up and moved furniture back in place. They even cleaned out the basement set-tub after washing their brushes, and swept my front sidewalk! They were very professional and I am pleased with their service.

They did a very good job, except one thing I asked them not to do, they did that. I have a window in the back, covered in the plastic to protect from the rain and I asked them not to step on that, which he didn't, but one of the other members stepped on it and broke it. When it rained, the rain water came inside the basement. I received 4 bids and they quoted a low price, though they were not the lowest. They did a good job in painting and I will use them in future, though it caused me a lot of grief in getting the water cleared from the basement.

I found them on Angie's List and received a 10% Angie's List discount from them. They were very responsive and easy to deal with despite the rainy weather this fall. The quality of their work is good. I had got a lot of quotes and theirs was a good quote. I figured that the cost would grow, and it did grow, but I think that I still got value for what I got done. I would use them again.

We had used Homm before during some repairs we had to make during Snowmaggedon and they had done a great job then. Andres came out and did the estimate immediately, at it was very reasonable. They took longer to schedule than I would have liked (4 weeks from estimate) and actually had to push the schedule out a week. However, when they came to do the work it was great, very professional. There was a miscommunication on paint finish that I attribute to myself. Overall they did a great job and would not hesistate to recommend them or use them again.

They were neat and clean. They did the work exactly as they said they would. They did a beautiful job. They charged me exactly what we discussed.

HOMM Painting has my ABSOLUTE HIGHEST POSSIBLE ENDORSEMENT! I used to dread searching for contractors because it was so hard to find credible data on contractors. Angie's list has all but eliminated that fear. I chose Homm for an estimate because of the terrific ratings they received and I was not disappointed. In fact, I was estactic. Andres Matheu was responsive and professional through every step of the process. His estimate was thorough and the price was the best I have seen for painting ... ever. His crew showed up on time, finished on time and did an outstanding job. During the job their was a question about one of the paints I supplied and Andres called me on my cell and got it taken care of completely. There is no question that I will use HOMM for all my painting needs in the future and I will recommend them enthusiastically to anyone who will listen.
