Homm Certified Painting Systems

I purchased two discount coupons for labor charges for the painting of two interior rooms from Angie's list at $120 each, and then contacted Homm to make arrangements for the work to be done. Andres Matheu got back in touch with me immediately and arranged a time to come to my home to see what needed to be done. We discussed the work and the colors of paint I wanted. One of the bedroom walls had some significant cracks in the plaster and the bathroom needed significant prep work on the ceiling. Andres explained that it would take approximately three hours of work in order to repair the cracks, nail pops, holes, and areas where some drywall tape had dried out. We agreed that $105 was a fair charge for this extra work. The only other charge would be for the paint I wanted. Andres was able to arrange a date quickly. The Homm painters did all of the repair work in the morning and the painting in the afternoon. They were efficient and professional, and cleaned up both rooms completely after their work was done. I was very pleased with the job they did. Last year, a neighbor was looking for painters to completely repaint the exterior of her home. She had three companies make bids on the work, but chose Homm after I recommended them. They had the most reasonable bid and did a fabulous job. She would also recommend them highly.

From the very beginning working with Homm was terrific. He showed up on time and was very professional. Unlike the two other companies who showed up they did not try to upsell us doing additional work. In fact, my wife asked about our deck and Andrews said there wasn't worth paying him to work on it. He also suggested some creative solutions to some other issues. Andres gave us notice via phone and email about the start date and alerted us to a slight delay in the job due to weather (perfectly acceptable). He called at the end of each day to alert us how the job went. For work that he felt he couldn't do or shouldn't do as it might cause more damage, he removed that from the bill. I also have to say that their price was far lower than the other two proposals. Indeed, that almost scared us off because it seemed to good to be true. We took a chance and everything came out great. Could not have been a more pleasant and seemless experience. I would definitely use them again.

The painters were on time, polite, cooperative and always cleaned up as they went along. They were professional in their work, whether it be caulking, sanding, priming, carpentry and painting. I give them ALL STARS.

The owner was very conscientious in getting back to me after I contacted him (based on Angie's List rating) and set up a time to meet me and go over the job. We both recognized that the extent of carpentry work could not be fully assessed until some boards were removed, so in the estimate this was to be billed for time and materials. Got a comprehensive proposal which fully specified the work and the cost (and estimated cost of carpentry repair) within a day of meeting. Since the company was very busy as a result of its high Angie's List rating, the work could not commence for several weeks. However, when advised that I was having an event at the end of June, Homm went the extra mile and got its crew over at the beginning of the last week of June. The crew worked very hard and continuously for three days. Since I was home I could see the level of care and craftsmanship, as well as the extent of the dry rot that was uncovered. I was very impressed with the professionalism of the owner, his foremen and the workmen. They did an outstanding job. The cost was somewhat more than estimated, but reasonable considering the extent of extra carpentry required as a result of the dry rot. I am very satisfied with the results and my house looked great for the big event.

I requested an estimate for a simple re-painting of my small portico. Homm's proposed service was much more than i requested involving power grinding down the cement stoop/steps, and the resulting quote was double other contractor's estimates. i'm sure their service would have provided a result closer to a restoration, and would have been impressive, but it wasnt in the cards this year.

They were very business-like and punctual. Their workmanship was neat, clean, and looked great when finished.

I was very impressed and pleased with Homm. Andres was professional at all times. He and his foreman were all well spoken and clearly communicated what would be required to accomplish the job at hand. I had three estimates from Grade A Angie's List painters. Homm came in with the lowest estimate AND delivered a high quality paint job. I wouldn't hesitate a moment to call upon Homm again and would recommend them to anyone looking for a painter.

Homm was by far the best priced for the interior painting work and beat two other A rated companies in the bidding for the job. The quality of work was excellent as was their punctuality. Homm's quality on the exterior work was again excellent. However, they have an extremely confusing bid proposal form where the amount shown as the "total" may not actually be the total for the job. In my case, what Homm did, after the work was done and after I paid them the "total" listed on the proposal, was to send me an email and another invoice which almost doubled the original total. Absent this unpleasant episode, I would easily have given Homm an A rating for the quality of their work and for their pricing. I would just strongly recommend that, when dealing with Homm, you specifically confirm in writing what the total for the project will be. I was originally going to shorten my response, but since Homm apparently enjoys arguing with its customers, I am changing my review to give them a D rating. In this country "total" means "total" and a customer should not be mislead and have to do "simple arithmetic" to find out the real total is double the amount of a total on a form. The $1,502 amount appeared at the very bottom of the form the contractor describes and there is positively no reason that the real total could not have been put in that line to avoid such unnecessary confusion . The explanation provided is absurd and the statement that a settlement was offered to unfairly cut a bill borders on defamation and is false. No one should have to put up with this kind of outrageous behavior from a contractor .

My overall experience has been good and mostly excellent. Since the estimate provided is $900 and this is the first vendor I have called to ever re-stain our deck I feel the need to get a 2nd estimate from another vendor. The estimator was very knowledgeable. There is still a very good chance that I will award the work to this company.

They did a good job. They did two coats of paint on the trim, but they painted both coats right away instead of letting the first coat dry. Otherwise, they did a good job. They were neat, clean, and no mess was left. They showed up when they were supposed to and did everything we agreed for them to do.

They were excellent and did a great job. Everything was cleaned up and they did a top-quality job for us. They also made some recommendations about other areas we’re considering to paint as well, and we’ll probably work with them for that job.

They were great to work with! I was pleased with their service; they did a very good job and were very professional. The owner and his brother did additional work for us at an incredibly reasonable price. The job they did was beautiful!

I liked them in every aspect! They were thorough, professional, friendly, and met all of our expectations. They used high quality materials and answered all of our questions well. They did have to come back to repair some work on the window sills, but they did that without any problems.

I had a problem with the representative that came out. I could not get an answer about the price structure. The crew tried to get me to have more work done by them at a reduced rate privately. The designer seemed to be imperious initially, and I don’t intend to use them again.

It turned out very well. They were responsive & came out when I needed them. They didn't make a mess & cleaned up after themselves. The paint itself looked like quality product & the finished the product looked professional. Well see how it holds up over the heat of the summer.

We were very happy with Andres and his crew. They were on time, clean, and responded to our requests to touch up or clean something they had missed. We were painting our home to get it ready to put on the market, so everything was painted in a neutral color, including the kitche cabinets. Compared to other painters, we felt their estimate was quite reasonable, and they finished the work in two days (we have a three-level town house). We would definitely use them again.

Excellent work at an outstanding price.

The company was prompt and professional with their estimate. They told me it would be extra for the ceilings and trim, which I was ok with. I also had some broken and missing molding that they agreed to repair for an additional cost. They did a nice job on the painting. The molding work was ot as good as the pieces they put on fell off soon after.

I had read good reviews of Homm, and had high expectations, but was rather disappointed with their work. While they did a very good job of patching areas that needed it, and the place looks considerably better than it did before the paint job, their work was sloppier than I had expected and the communication was inconsistent at best. When I inspected the paint job, I found more drops of paint spilled than I had expected. It is not that there were paint drops on every surface, but paint drops were left on the carpet, hardwood floor, brick (both inside and outside the house), kitchen counter-top, kitchen sink, kitchen faucet . . .you name it, more than likely there were at least two or three drops of paint there. For there to be as many drops as there were, they must have been working too quickly to notice the spills, or did not spend enough time to carefully inspect their work afterwards. While they were responsive to my complaints about the drops to a large extent -- they cleaned up the spots I pointed out to them on the last day of their work as best they could, I continued to find paint drippings for several days afterward. They say they use dropcloths, but I don't see how there could have been so much paint spilled if they had used them consistently. For such a highly-rated painting company, it was a surprisingly messy paint job. We asked that they "spot prime" areas in the basement walls to cover up stains, and this was specified in the contract, but the stains bled through the paint anyway, and the small can of primer was essentially full-- meaning they didn't prime in any meaningful way. Apparently "spot prime" meant something different to them than it did to us. And, in one room, we asked them just to touch up an area that had been painted 12 months earlier, but they failed to tell us in advance that the sheen of the touched up area would not match the rest of the wall, nor did they tell us after the job was done that it looked odd. Did they think we would not notice? When I asked Andres about it afterwards, he did explain that the eggshell sheen could not be touched up and blend in perfectly with the existing paint, but why couldn't he have explained all that in advance? If we had known about that earlier, we could have made a decision to paint the entire wall. When painting the windows, they specified on the contract the color would be "match white". But the color painted did not match the wall color, and when I asked him about the meaning of the term "match white," he said "match white" meant it would match the color previously on the window. But it did not, as there was a different color there previously. All the windows were now painted the same white color. It does not look bad that way, but couldn't they have been a bit more clear that they were going to do this? And the majority of the windows they painted were painted shut. You would think that professional painters would know not to do this, or would un-stick the windows after the paint had dried. . I would have liked to have given them a better review, and in some areas they painted, I would be happy to give them a grade of B, but there were just too many paint drips and other problems to overlook, and that is the reason for the poor review. Homm was a bit less expensive than some others, but after their work, we had to replace the paint-stained carpet, hire a cleaning crew to clean off the paint drippings, and hire a handyman to un-stick the windows they painted shut, so it ended up costing more than other painters. I cannot understand the many glowing reviews -- Maybe Homm has several crews, and we got their B-level crew?

I needed to have the exterior completed and the deck repaired and refinished in a fairly short time period. Andres worked with me to make sure that it got done. He kept me informed at all times about the scheduling and the progress. The result was a beautiful almost new deck and a great painting job on the rest of the exterior that needed painting. The interior work was equally great and completed much more quickly that I anticipated. In addition, they cleaned up thoroughly there were virtually no drops or smears of paint anywhere. Painters I have used in the past have left little drops and smears all over. When they finished with the dining room. I really didn't like the color and Roger, the team supervisor, worked with me to select a new color. This involved getting two samples and painting patches for me to review and then repainting the entire room. This was done cheerfully and quickly. They still finished all of the work in two days. The house looks beautiful and I would highly recommend Homm and Andres and Roger.

The owner met with us and measured the rooms, then listened to what we wanted to do. We had a color wheel and so already had our colors picked out. The owner clearly articulated that he understood what we wanted to do, and scheduled the work for about a week later. The crew arrived on-time and was professional and courteous. They took their time and did a solid prep job before painting.

Went great. I called them and they showed up and did the work.

The exterior and trim on our townhouse (plus the wrought iron) was painted. They performed the work in a timely and professional manner. The outcome looks great!

Andre came out to give a quote on the exterior of our townhome. I described what he and my neighbor wanted and he talked with my neighbor, as well. After he gave us a quote, we compared with the other quotes we received, and not only was the work comparable, if not better detailed than the others, their price was outstanding. Homm estimated the amount of time it would take, and then scheduled the date to do the painting with my neighbor and me. I took the day off to supervise, but I really didn't need to. The workers showed up on time, along with the supervisor and knew exactly what needed to be done. Andre came about midday to check to see how things were progressing, and I pointed out a few spots I wanted looked at. They even came back and repainted my gate, even though I realized it was actually a good job (after it dried). They handled some additions added by my neighbor easily. The cleaned up, and everything looked great at the end. The billing was easy, and I was very impressed with the process from beginning to end. For the interior, Andre came out again and measured the area I needed. He offered some advice on the paint scheme and what areas needed paint (he had some great advice). He quickly followed up with an quote, and then scheduled the date (he came in at the amount I had in mind). Homm's worker came and took care of all of the painting (there was one mistake which required some additional paint, but he quickly pointed out - and truthfully, the mistake was my own fault, as I changed my mind at the last minute). It took a little longer than I expected, but I realized I had under estimated how much time it would have taken. Again, I was very impressed with Homm, and the results were great.
