Family Prestige Garage Doors

All work was performed satisfactorily. I was advised of future action that I might need to take with respect to my garage door: however, there was no overt pressure to purchase a new door. I was however warned of consequences should the garage door break from its current support structures (house was built in 1974, and it is assumed that the doors are the age of the house).

They were very helpful in accommodating appointments due to my disability and sickness. They gave additional bids for work needed in the garage to widen the bays.

I'd hire Family Prestige again.

The technician showed up on time and assessed my problems. He made recommendations and gave me a cost estimate, He then proceeded to make the repairs in a professional manner. I was very pleased with his work.

They were on time, professional, and quiet. They did one little extra thing for us and fixed the amount of energy used to lift the door. They did just a little tweak but it made a big difference for us.

I let them do it for the convenience, and they did a good job, but next time I would shop around. I would still let them give me an estimate, but I would compare.|

They called me right after I bought the big deal, and I told them that I wanted to wait till spring. They were very flexible and told me to call when I'm ready.

It turned out good with Family Prestige Garage Doors. It worked out fine. It's a rental property so I don't have the quick presumability to be in contact directly with them but they did the job and the last time I went, when I spoke with the owner to the phone everything was professional.

I called late on Saturday afternoon, so I was not optimistic about getting someone to come that day without exorbitant charges for after-hours service. Of the 4-5 companies I tried to contact, I was only able to speak with a human being at two. The quote I was given by Family Prestige was roughly the same as the other company I spoke with, but Family Prestige didn't tack on any extra charges for after-hours or same-day service. So, based on the good reviews here, I decided to proceed. As promised, two men from Family Prestige showed up 2.5 hrs later. They quickly got to work, confirmed that the gear assembly was the problem, and replaced that. So, my urgent issue was taken care of pretty quickly. After doing that, they continued tweaking the garage door -- tightening the springs, adjusting the door excursion, and even shifting the metal frame -- until the door operated more smoothly and quietly than it ever had since I purchased the house. They then gave me a quote for my other problem, replacing an oversized bottom seal and replacing torn weatherstripping on my other garage door. The quote seemed reasonable, so I asked them to go ahead. They completed that work quickly as well and then, just as on the other side, tweaked that garage door as well. There was still some residual squeaking on that door, and they showed me that two of the pulleys on that side were loose and were making noise. That was a quick and easy fix ($20), so I had them replace those pulleys as well. When they were done with that side, it also operated better than ever. They did tell me that I would probably need to have the springs, rollers, and other pulleys replaced on both doors pretty soon, but there was no pressure or sales pitch. I should also mention that there was no pressure at all about the pulley replacements I described above; I was told that they were making noise, but it was completely up to me whether to replace them or not. When all was said and done, the cost was exactly as quoted beforehand, plus an extra Angie's List discount, and overall I felt the cost to be reasonable for the work performed. They worked quickly (the whole thing took a little over an hour), but I did not feel that they rushed at all, and they really went above and beyond in making sure that both garage doors were functioning as smoothly as possible; in fact, most of their time was spent on these 'extras'. They came exactly when they said they would, and they didn't charge extra for coming on Saturday. And they cleaned up after themselves when they were done. So what's not to like? I would definitely use this company again, and I would not hesitate to recommend it to others.

I used this company after buying a couple of Amazon Local vouchers, although I did check them out on Angie's before making the purchase. Scheduling was simple and the job went well. The work was performed on time and as specified and both doors work well, now.

They showed up on time and explained everything that they were going to do on the job. They were very professional. When the work was completed they explained how everything worked. They did a lot of work and the garage is now running great!. I would hire them again and would not hesitate to recommend them.

Jose, the owner, was very accommodating and was able to send a crew to my house within a couple of hours of my first call. The technician was extremely knowledgeable and not only replaced the broken coil with a stronger, more efficient one, but also replaced a worn out seal from the bottom of the door at no additional cost. I will definitely use this company again.

Jose answered when I called and was super friendly. I called rather late in the day, but said he could have a crew out to the house the very next day. They arrived early and he immediately knew the problem. It was an extremely cold day; they worked quickly and efficiently and left no mess. I was truly pleased with the entire interaction with Jose and his company. They were very respectful and got it done quickly and for a reasonable price. I would definitely use their company again!

Great company and my installer was an amazing guy! Knew that we had a budget since we were selling the house and was so helpful. He ended up coming back 3 times to do work and now the garage door works great. If you ever need someone to work on your garage door don't go anywhere else! They will not try and sell you a brand new system like many other companies tried. They will work with what you have and give you best options for it to run for a while. Very satisfied customer good luck and I know you will keep getting business.

The door is working. They did the job nicely.

Family Prestige Garage Doors in Alexandria, Virginia removed a Genie garage door opener and metal track and installed a Liftmaster 8557 3/4 horsepower belt drive Elite Series garage door opener with new continuous/single piece metal track. Installed Liftmaster 880LM Smart Control Panel (has a motion detector which turns garage lights on, and has an LED screen which indicates time, inside garage temperature and system diagnostics) and adjusted garage door opening and closing. Ordered 16' x 7' steel Clopay 4050 steel 3-layer garage doors (outside steel, foam insulation, and steel inside. (Note: Clopay is the only garage door manufacturer that has earned the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval.) Two business days later, Family Prestige Doors returned to my home and removed the old garage door and metal tracks. 3 workers repaired holes in the walls and ceiling (from the previous garage door installation) and very professionally installed 2and quot; x 8and quot; pine framing on all 3 sides of the garage door frame and installed wood framing to support the end of the garage door opener metal track. They installed the new garage door, and installed a metal spring to neutralize the door's weight, and verified correct garage door operation. The 3-1/4 hours' of the above installation was OUTSTANDING in every respect. Cleanup from the work was great. They paid attention to every suggestion I had. I could not be more pleased at the Professional installation of our 2-car garage door and garage door opener. I took pictures of the previous 2006 garage door installation which created 1' x 1' holes in the sheetrock at the left and right top of the garage door in its down position, holes in the ceiling, and a 2and quot; strip across the top of the door. Note the extraordinary professional framing repairs and hole patching ... a real bonus to our home. I purchased on the web an Angies List deal for $75 to give me $175 of garage door service. Family Prestige Garage Doors ended up giving me $515.00 Off their normal installation prices. Note: During outside temperatures that went down to 22 degrees with 40 mph winds on 3/12/2014, the garage temperature was 64 degrees in the morning .... the insulated Clopay garage doors worked well!

They came right out and did the work. He said he also shortened something but it's still making a lot noise. I wish the work would have worked out better.

Project was more complicated than I thought - had to deal with additional parts and services.

I really like this company. They are very professional and work hard to please the owner. They came by the day I called because they were in the area and were just going to check to see if it was their previous work that needed repairing. He was able to figure out it was the motor quickly, and had let me know when he serviced my spring system before that we would probably need a new motor soon (it was very old). He gave me a great deal and was very good to us since we were already in his customer base. He was able to take care of the repair on the spot which was a bonus for me. I highly recommend this company. I really like that I was not pushed to buy the new motor back in October, but was able to use it for 6 more months. I don't think I will need repairs for a long time, but I will call them if i do.

I have an old, but very large detached garage that opens manually. Except it had stopped opening because one spring had broker and a couple of rollers had fallen off. I did not want to spend a lot of money but did need to get it working so I could use the garage for storage. Family Prestige Garage Doors had the parts on the truck and were able to fix the door. It works fine now.

Update 4-20-15: Again, this company was great to work with. They were efficient, friendly, and got everything done quickly. I continue to believe this is a great company to do business with, and I will be using them again if I need more assistance with my garage doors. Jose did a good job. They got it done in the time period that they stated, they cleaned up after themselves, and they were really nice. I didn't feel pressure to buy things that I didn't need and Jose was really concerned with giving me what I needed but not more than I needed. I would absolutely recommend them to others, and already have done so.

Showed up on time with a two man team, told me what they were going to do, did the work, and made some recommendations for other services. Very professional and friendly and no pressure on the up-sell services they offered. Would recommend and use again.
