Family Prestige Garage Doors

On Sunday, 8 Jun 2014, we opened our garage door and it stuck in the 1/2 way position due to a tension cable snap. Our garage door opener was installed in 1996, so we knew the lifespan was close to an end and thought we probably needed a new system. After reviewing reports on Angie's List, we decided to call Family Prestige Garage Doors, LLC. We called them after work Mon, 9 Jun (approximately 3pm) and were told they could have a technician to our home between 4 and 5 pm that same afternoon, and they did! At 4 p.m. a technician arrived, assessed the repairs, gave us an estimate (very resonable- $366) and proceeded to repair the garage door, never pressuring us to buy a new system (motor). Because of 18 yrs of wear and tear we agreed to replace the seized pulleys, cables, springs, and rollers on the door. We bought the Angie's list member discount coupon for $75 (equal to $150 in labor and repairs) so total cost to us was $441. The garage door is now very quiet when it opens. The technician showed us where to apply lubricant every 3-6 months. And we have the original motor operating with reduced tension when opening and closing (will probably last another 2-3 yrs??), plus, a 1 yr warranty on labor and the springs. When the garage door opener motor eventually dies, we will definitely call and quot;Family Prestige Garage Doors, LLCand quot; for replacement (est $525), and we will buy the proper sized system this time. The technician pointed out that the system currently in place is made for a 7 ft door while ours is an 8 ft. The proper sized system will retract far enough into the garage to eliminate the 1 ft overhang we currently have. This has not been an issue for us as the car we park in the garage is small; however, it could be an issue should we decide to sell the house in the future. We cannot praise this company enough for their immediate response, courtesy, professionalism, honesty and expertise. Our tech has been repairing garage doors for 7 yrs, and knew his trade. We are so glad we called company! We highly recommend and quot;Family Prestige Garage Doors, LLCand quot;.

The inspection and tune up went very well. During this, a decent sized crack was found in the top panel of the garage door. Since we were selling the house, it made sense to replace that panel with a new one, so we took the recommendation to replace it. The panel came in and the date that was set aside to install it came, and during that time the installers mentioned that they had forgotten to paint it before bringing it, so they would not be able to install it that day. The service was good with the exception of the delay, but it made an impression.

Family Prestige called me back quickly and came out early in the day in order to fit me in and install my new garage door opener on time. They we fantastic I would recommend them and I will use them again. Their pricing was reasonable.

A little confusion in making contact to schedule appointment as they were engaged in a big job. After that everything went great. Punctual, polite, efficient. Door has worked well ever since.

Family Prestige sent out a repairman the same day I called, literally within hours. The work he did was excellent and he explained all steps to us when we asked. The door now opens and closes smoothly and we are in no danger of it falling or stopping mid-way due to old (30 years!), worn springs. He was professional, skilled, and even honored the Angie's List discount of $75. While he said he couldn't do the actual programming of the door remotes and wall console, he also saved us a long call on the Genie tech support line by showing us a few simple things. Door is good as new - and it opens!!!!

He fixed my door so it would work properly. I am planning for him to do more work for me.

The service team showed up 30 minutes ahead of schedule and performed the job in a timely manner. We went over what needed to be accomplished,. We had one door that would not go up fully and would not close. The doors were installed in 1985. We have had service in the past and had replaced the units and springs. We had a service call in the fall of 2013 which did not fix our problem. The service person pointed out that all of the rollers should have been replaced several years ago. He then gave me a detailed estimate of the work to be performed. Additionally, I opted to have security cables installed to protect our automobiles in the event of a spring failure. The doors now function perfectly with no noise. I could immediately tell the difference as the doors now operate very smoothly. We used a $75 Angie coupon which reduced the total bill by $150. The company has a one warranty on their work, whereas our previous company only had a 90 day warranty.

Gentleman who installed new garage door opener were very efficient and courteous. Even though it was a long weekend they scheduled the installation at my request. They arrived on time and knew what they were doing. I would definitely use them again for my garage door repairs in future.

It took him 2 minutes and he taught me how to do it for next time. He also tightened up a few bolts and looked the system over quickly at no charge.

The work progressed very well. Jose and his tech did a very good job installing the new unit. They were very professional and courteous. I would recommend them to anyone needing garage door repair.

Very good experience. Took a few days to schedule initial visit to determine problem with garage door, but the initial visit went well with the problem quickly diagnosed (garage door opener wasn't working due to older springs and cables). They suggested various alternatives in different price ranges, but since we were already considering replacing our very old garage door we opted for that solution. Received a reasonable estimate during the initial service call and scheduled appointment for replacement of door a few days later. The work was performed quickly and we had no problems. Very happy with our replacement door.

My coupon did not work for this deal. However they did work with me on the garage door tune up price.

He did a very nice job. We think it wasn't perfect though. The price was great because we took advantage of one of the big deals. The experience wasn't a detailed one.

I called to take advantage of the deal they have offered of $150 worth of service for $75. I explained that I wanted a tune up and service on my existing garage doors (adjust rails, lube, replace rollers, tighten bolts and screws, etc.). They said this service usually costs $125. I said good because I was going to purchase their $150 for $75 deal and that should cover it. They said and quot;NOand quot;, that deal is only if you want to replace the doors, springs, etc. that usually cost $200 or more. The $150 can be applied toward that cost but not toward a tune up that only costs $125. In other words, unless you expect to spend well in excess of the $150 you can not get this deal. There is nothing in the write up that states that condition. I think that their deal is no deal, just a come on. I would not use them if this is an example of their honesty.

I called Family Prestige Garage Doors two weeks ago about replacing my 20 year old wooded garage door. They sent out a representative that weekend to provide me a quote for the door. They also provided me a separate quote for the opener, since mine was over 20 years old. This took approximately an hour. I called them back a week later and we scheduled the installation for the following weekend. The installers showed up early for the appointment and got straight to work. The installation went smoothly and the new door and opener work like a charm. They installer went over how the new opener works and set up my new keyless entry pad. The entire process took only 3-4 hours. I could not be happier with the work.

They arrived promptly with 2 technicians. They worked efficiently and communicated with me the entire time. I watched them because I was genuinely interested in what they were doing, and they were happy to explain everything to me. While they had come to replace a faulty garage door opener, I asked them to and quot;tune upand quot; the other garage door, which they did without complaint. They walked me through the invoice and showed me exactly where my Angie's List discount showed up. I was very satisfied with their work and plan to work with them in the future.

Provider indicated that our rollers were in poor condition on our garage door and further that our spring was not the correct one ofr our unit, which was one of the reasons we were having a problem. I did not expect to have a $350 bill for what I thought was a simple repair, but I will say that the garage door is performing better than it ever has before, so I think more was wrong with it than I knew. These guys did a great job and I was very pleased.

These are consummate professionals that I will recommend!

My experience was good and I felt they did a good job. We were happy with them and their service. Scheduling was good and they came on time for the appointment.

The only thing that bothered me, which I have read in other review,s in the response time. I was given a 2 hour window in which I left work to be home at the beginning of the window. No one showed up by the end of the window time. When I called I was told they are on their way. They had to stop for supplies... I really think the scheduling could be improved. Other than that, I was very pleased with the professionalism of the service and the product.

Did a great job. Cost was as expected. Would use again.

Well, we had been experiencing the pad inside had not been operational. When the guys checked it, it was working. But we were insisting that it wasn't working properly and asked to look at it again. He did and tightened the something on the back. It seems to be working now. We were appreciative that he looked at it one last time before the job was considered completed.

All went as expected; would recommend.
