Family Prestige Garage Doors

As we were moving into our newly purchased home, we discovered that the garage door opener was not working properly. A tug here and a tug there later we apparently broke an important piece on the motor chain that was needed to open and close the garage door. We first called our home warranty insurance to see if they covered fixing the door. After an in-depth conversation with the home warranty representative that included having us looking at the instructions for installing a garage door opener, we were given the option of paying $75 to have a service provider tell us whether the home warranty covered the specific broken piece. If it did not, we still would have to pay the $75 and whatever costs were associated with fixing the garage door opener out of pocket. We declined that very enticing offer and instead called Family Prestige Garage Doors' emergency line and left a message. The next day they called and came over to conduct a personal inspection. Without making us feel we were being pressured, Jose Luis, calmly explained what we needed and why we needed it. We agreed to have him install a new opener and have not looked back ever since. Garage door pulley and cables broke on Sunday. Called and scheduled an appointment for Tuesday morning as it wasn't an emergency. They arrived early and talked me through the repairs needed to fix the garage door well with a needed tune-up. Replaced most of the hardware, springs, safety cables. Was very impressed with their service and "can-fix" attitude for my older wooden garage door. Will not hesitate to call them again for repair, tune-up or eventually when the old door needs replacing.

The guys from Family Prestige were great. One of my two garage doors wasn't working -- whirring sound in the overhead unit suggested something was wrong with the motor. I called on a Wednesday to see if someone could come out Friday or Saturday. We set up an appointment for Saturday afternoon between 1-3pm. Because of bad local traffic that day (Cherry Blossom season), the guys were a little bit late, arriving at 3:30, but they were courteous upon arrival and were in and out in about 45 minutes. They showed me the part that needed replacing and answered all of my questions. The garage door works fine now, and with the Angie's List deal, I saved $75 and paid $159 for the repair. All in all, a very pleasant and painless experience.

Luis and a partner showed up exactly on time at the beginning of the 2 hrs block of time that I was told to expect them. Luis diagnosed the problem quickly and told me the bad news. My springs needed to be replaced. Since it would take a while to order the older type of spring system on my garage door, he recommended installing a new spring and pulley system. He did everything quickly and was done in about 1 hour. As a precaution, he "secured" the door with an extra set of cables in case the spring broke in the future. He showed me how to check my other door for a broken spring as the older system did have have the spring visible. Overall, I'm happy with the service provided. My only gripe is that his partner who helped lubricate different part of the door could have done a better job. Luis did some lubrication himself but he was on a ladder and was next to the part being lubricated. His partner lubricated while standing on the ground, trying to lubricate parts that were 8 ft up. His aim was not that great and I felt that a lot of the lubricant ended up on my garage wall.

The overall job was well done but the chain tension was not within manufacturer's specification. Rather than call then back I adjusted myself.

We used Family Prestige Garage Doors for a tune up on our two garage doors. They were incredibly professional and thorough and spent the time walking me through the issues and repairs. One of the doors was slightly bent and they re-enforced the door with a metal beam and included that with the service at no extra charge. I would highly recommend them for their work.

I think the whole job was under an hour. There was a possibility that we might have to but a new door but now we don't have to do that. It was a freezing day but the guys didn't even complain, they just worked through and had fixed it and gone in under an hour. Our garage door used to be pretty loud when we opened and closed it, and now it's pretty quiet. It's shockingly wonderful. I think Angie's List is a great resource to find great garage door people. The only thing that annoyed me was that they put a sticker on my wall. I didn't want it there because we had just redone our garage and had it professionally painted, and they put a sticker on our wall and when I took it off it took off some of the paint. So that was the only one thing that really annoyed me. I understand what they're trying to do, but it's not their garage to mark up. But otherwise, they were great.

I spoke with them on Wednesday, and had an appointment for Saturday morning. The job was done quickly and accurately. I would recommend Family Prestige to anyone. Thanks!

The repair job went well. Jose was very informative and provided helpfu tips and realistic advise about my repair options. The repair crew was prompt, courteous, and did a great job. I would definitely use them again for garage door services.

They came on time, performed the inspection and recommended the most cost-effective way to fix the problem, and tuned the garage door to my satisfaction.

They showed up 5 minutes early and quickly gave me a rundown of the problem. My garage door was jumping out of the rails every time it opened. I was given the option to replace other parts and was given the cost of doing each as well as the urgency for each replacement. The work was done within an hour and I was also shown how to spot any future problems. Great service and will definitely use again!

Went very well. The work was for a rental property and they handled that added complication very well. Tenant called and said the garage door opener wasn't working, a spring had broke. I called the company, explained the situation, they gave me a verbal estimate, and were ready to come out right away. I provided my billing info with a cap, identified I was an AngiesList member so they added the discount to the file info, and I asked they coordinate a date & time with the tenant which they did. They contacted me before and after the site visit, sent me copies of the invoice and were very pleasant to work with overall. I asked the tenant for feedback about the company rep and how the visit went so I would know if I should use them in the future...Tenant had only good things to say so that was a plus. They will be in my "rolodex" for any future issues.

I called at 8:30 AM Monday for help with a garage door that broken over the weekend. After a few questions, Jose booked an appointment for the same day between 12-2 PM. Louis and another repairman arrived at noon, identified and explained the problems and presented me with repair options, There was no pressure or hard sell. They had all the parts on their truck and were done by 2:15 PM. They inspected the motor of the electric opener and told me that it was 20 years old, working fine but probably near the end of its life. They did not try to sell me another one but only reminded me how to use the manual release and open for the door and to call them when the motor stops working. I plan to use them when I need help again with the garage doors. They gave me 10% discount for being an Angie's List member.

We thought we needed our garage door repaired because it would not remain closed. When the technician Lewis, came out, he examined the garage door thoroughly. He explained that we only needed a minor adjustment which was very simple. My husband felt that Lewis was trustworthy in his diagnosis. We would definitely hire this company again.

They finished their work less than an hour and even tuned up the door to make it smoother, quieter, and better sealed at no extra charge. I hope I never need the garage door repaired again, but if it does happen or if I ever want a new garage door, they will be the first business I call.

I was very pleased with the technicians and work performed. The technicians arrived within the promised time window. They were professional, efficient and left no mess. Their maintenance to the actual door (not the opener) resolved the problems with opening the door via the opener. I had thought the problem was with the opener since I felt manual operation wasn't too difficult but lead technician (Louis) recommended working on the door rather than than replacing the opener. That was a valuable recommendation. He indicated that since the opener was several years old, it could go out an any time but it did not have to be replaced now since the door maintenance resolved this issues. After the work, the garage door was incredibly quiet. I don't remember it ever being so quiet in the 10 years that I have owned the house. With the company's Angie's List Member discount the price was very reasonable.

A mostly good experience. Knocked down to a 'B' from 'A' only because of one bad experience. I purchased a $75 for $150 deal for Family Prestige and set up an appt to replace a broken garage door spring and fix some related damage to the door itself. Everything was pretty straightforward - I called for an appt, they came at the scheduled time and quickly replaced the spring and put in a new brace for the door to fix the damage caused by the mechanism trying to pull the door with no spring. The price was very reasonable and I would recommend them, though with one caveat. Without asking, the tech placed a large advertisement sticker near the door opener switch. I don't consider my garage to be a billboard, and would have said no had the tech asked me first. Further, the sticker was impossible to just peel off - I had to scrape it off and then repaint the area. I really didn't appreciate having to waste my time doing this - the tech should not be putting stickers up without asking. I hope the company stops this practice, as I was happy with everything else. If you do use this company, make sure you tell the tech ahead of time to not put up any stickers.

I had called around and everyone was quoting 1000 dollars, and they were able to help me for around 700. They were excellent, and came over 2 days after I initially called and did excellent work. They were on time, here before 8 (which was when the appoint was).

The 20 year old door hasn't operated better in many years. Items suggested for replacement seemed reasonable and were performed very expeditiously.

It went well. He was prompt and very thorough. I called him because my double garage doors were creaking and got off track periodically. I was concerned that someone may be injured if it fell. One door wouldnt come down all the way and that left enough space for small creatures to enter the garage. The repairman listened patiently, explained what he was going to do and what needed to be done. He provided me with options. He also showed me all the parts that were replaced. At some points, I actually watched to see what was being done. He was fine with that. When he left, the garage doors were opening and closing quietly and coming all the way down to the ground. He also gave information on when I may want to replace the motors on the garages (not necessary at this point).

The company was prompt and thorough in coming to my home, providing a written estimate, explaining the various options available, taking precise measurements of our garage, and making sure I understood everything up front before we made the decision to accept their estimate. I had to pay a deposit for them to order a custom fitted door for our garage. They called me when they received my deposit check in the mail, which I appreciated. When they picked up the custom ordered door, they called me with sincere apologies to tell me that the door was not as ordered (it was uninsulated, and we had ordered insulated) and that it would take about two weeks for the corrected order to be ready. They were so kind and apologetic about this delay. Then we rescheduled the installation. They called the day before to confirm, arrived when they said they would, and after installing the new door and opener, they made sure I understood how everything worked before they left. It has been over a month now and the door is working well. We are pleased with the company's sincerity and professionalism and would recommend them to others looking for new garage doors and openers.
