They were thousands less than the other quotes so I decided to have them replace my floors. They were very responsive and did an excellent job.

Dominion Carpet, not to be confused with Dominion Floors, were great. They gave the best estimate of 4 companies that I called in the NoVA area. There team was on time, worked fast and on budget and they did a great job. Finished product looks great. Now, we just need to get that place rented! ;-) Would highly recommend them to anyone. Our experience with them was very positive. I was happy with their work. They were there on time. They cleaned up after themselves. I did have to call them to put on the last coat of polyurethane. After I called and talked to them, they came right over. It is not an issue. They were very professional and did their work well.

1) Did a good job on the carpet replacement 2) Did a terrible job on the kitchen floor. It took 6 days instead of 3 days, the team did not show up until 11 or 12 in the morning, so they did not work full days. Left epoxy grout on surface of tiles; glue on the baseboards; irregular shoe molding; tiles not meeting underneath dishwasher or step down to sun-room. Had to constantly stay on top of them and they still did an extremely poor job, even telling us the floor is supposed to look this way. Would never use this company again, other than for carpeting installation.

The sales person was very responsive and was came out to measure and prepare an estimate. She also brought samples with her and we were able to get a very close match to the floors already in the apartment. I worked with the sales person to schedule the installation of the flooring. It went pretty smoothly. The only glitch was the installers forgot to secure the sliding closet doors, but came back the following day to fix the problem. At first the floors squeaked but the problem seems to have resolved itself and the flooring is beautiful.

Overall the work was satisfactory. There are some overflow finish spots on the floor and they did not drape the doors as promised resulting in sanding dust in adjoining rooms.

We had pulled old carpet up out of the bedrooms and the floors were scratched and stained. We had pulled 1950s spindle type room dividers demarcating the foyer from the living room and that left unfinished spots on the wood floors underneath in the living room. We were certainly impressed with the finished product: every stain and scratch was gone and you would never have known that the room dividers were there! The workers showed up on time and completed the work in a professional and timely manner. We are so happy with the finished floors that we will be scheduling this company in the near future to refinish the master bedroom floor, the only remaining wood floor in the house. It is passable for moving purposes but the refinished floors look so much better that we will do them even though we really don't have to. Can't speak for anything else this company does, but we would certainly recommend them for wood floor refinishing.

Joey was great to work with to get what I wanted. Flooring was delivered on Friday morning; installation began Monday morning. Three installers worked like mad to finish in one day -- nearly 11 hours with no lunch time and few breaks. The job was overall well done. There are a few spots where we need to use some wood putty, and, as expected, there is massive dust and clean up to do after. But the guys cleaned up the big stuff, leaving only small slivers and dust. I am especially pleased with the staircase. A very good job in an area where careful measuring and planning is needed. They moved the big furniture (we took care of the smaller stuff). Overall, I am very pleased with the work ethic and the finished product.

We bought a deal from Angie; provider contacted me immediately, set up a time to come and measure, arrived when they said they would, were very polite and efficient. I suggested a date to begin work, which was acceptable to all. They sent me a photograph of a contract, which I thought was somewhat strange. But I had questions about how the costs were calculated on the contract, since that document had no measurements of our rooms attached, only the final square footage, and the square footage in the contract was a figure different from the one I had come up with, based on my own measurements. I also had no idea how the costs of the shoe molding, based on linear feet, was determined. It took me two Emails and a phone call before I got my answer, but I did, and all questions were resolved to my satisfaction. Workers showed up on time and worked hard and competently over three days. Our floors look great. My only concerns were the cleanup; the dust barrier they put up over our door had significant gaps in it and was not very effective; they opened up the windows in our rooms, but left the screens in place, which filled up with dust, and now must also be cleaned. And they left a trail of dust on our sidewalk and simply ignored it; I had to go out with a broom and leaf blower to clean it up so visitors would not track it into our house. I told them that, if they did a good job, I would talk to them about redoing the rest of our hardwood floors, and--even more difficult--two rooms with pine floors. I think they did a good job and, with minor improvements, it could have been a great job. I will be contacting them again about other work. UPDATE: I called them about additional floor refinishing; representative came by promptly, gave me an estimate that was transparent, and I accepted it. When I relayed my concerns about the cleanup in the previous job, he apologized for his workers, promised to take it up with them, expressed dismay that I had to take my valuable time to clean up after their work, and reduced my bill for our future project to compensate me for doing what they should have done in the first place. I think this was not only responsive, but fair, and it appears to me to reflect the kind of company they are. ADDITIONAL UPDATE: I called them to refinish the pine floors of the upstairs of our house. They came, sanded & applied the first coat of polyurethane, but the sanding was uneven, with lines across the floor in several places. I called to inform them; they said my satisfaction was the most important thing to them. They send someone out to check the floor, who agreed with me. Although it took an additional week for us to get back on their schedule, they sent another team out, resanded and refinished the floors, and now they look just great. This is clearly a company that stands behind their work, and I will use them yet again for the floors on the main level of our house.

They were a little difficult to work with. I mainly dealt with Sam and he was at first great to work with then after the sale, he kind of disappeared. The crew was always late to arrive for the job. They messed up the walls and had to re-touch it with paint and the finished product did not look well blended. They did a good job of blending new hardwood in but other parts you could tell were not done well. I have a wood vent and now it is stuck to the floor because of the way they stained the floors. The carpet was over all done well. They left some of the moldings out and I had to put them back and some of the carpet could have been stretched more.

Good job. Install runners-first no show, then the substitute did a sloppy job. Buff and polish two rooms - truly bad job - no difference before and after

They were very patient and calm. They did a wonderful job. Very good, extremely economical compared to other companies I had looked at and they were very professional. It's older wood in our home that you don't want to mess with too much, and you want to trust whose working on it and they made it look absolutely beautiful!

The guys were very nice and took care with our things. The work was beautifully done. It took three days, but our 1955 floors look brand new. The only negative is that there is a mark that I wanted them to come back to check on. Someone was supposed to come out and didn't show up. I have not called back because we just got busy with the holidays. I gave them an A rating because the work was well done, the value was great, and the customer service had been very good up to that last interaction. I am confident based on my prior conversations with them, that once we connect the issue will be resolved. Ultimately, I would recommend them.

They put the wrong stain on floor. The exact one I DIDN'T want! Very uneven appearance of floors. Late always. Only Spanish speaking workers. Took twice as long to complete cause of the screw up with the stain. Got stain all over carpet, baseboards and dust all over everything. Was told they would tape and drape to control dust and protect the furniture from sanding dust. They didn't do that. I forced them to tape because they got stain all over carpet after first day. They acted like it was a big hassle to do that. Weren't even apologetic. Was promised they would tape and drape by salesman. Salesman stopped returning my calls and emails after the screw ups began. He was very quick to respond in the beginning. I felt really screwed by this company to be honest. A lot of promises to make me happy. Couldn't wait to get them out of my house. They never even offered to have the stained carpet professionally cleaned after they stained it. When they left, they even left stained handprints on my powder room, front and bathroom door and washed materials out in food sink, staining it, not my utility sink! Duh! Don't used them. The low price isn't worth it after you have to repaint baseboards and clean carpets. No common sense!

The estimate was great--Joey is very polite, on time, and knowledgable. There was a Big Deal going on, so the estimate was way lower than two others, but that was gravy after talking to Joey. He made me feel comfortable with the services we'd be receiving. The kids and I were out of the house, leaving the husband home to monitor the progress. Because the family was absent, we chose to use oil poly and opted for a third coat, though two coats is the "standard". As my husband left to meet us on vacation, he noted that the floors did not look right--they really weren't finished. Yes, there was poly on them, but it wasn't right. A neighbor confirmed this assessment. I was able to reach Joey throughout the process (seriously, he was very nice!) and convinced him that I had to take the word of husband and neighbor--couldn't he go see how the floors looked? Well, he and the owner came and looked at the floors and offered to coat the floors with an additional layer or poly free of charge. I'm glad that they did this because both my husband and neighbor agree that the floors now look finished. This is definitely a plus--they did ensure that the overall finish was right. So, why the B overall? Well, it's all of the details that make for frustration. Like hoping to come home to floors that are finished--without multiple calls--and furniture replaced and not left out on the covered porch for two weeks (something we paid for--though the fee was waived since I spoke to Joey and he obviously gets customer service)--and spot on shoe-molding mitres--and not finding a glob of poly in the entry way. Overall, the floors ended up looking really nice. I think that the Big Deal was worth it, but I know that my husband wouldn't be crazy about having Dominion Carpet back. Joey was kind enough to understand why I didn't pay for the furniture moving and he DID give me the results I wanted. I just wished that he or someone else would 1. check up on the technicians to ensure the floors look as amazing as the homeowner expects and 2. give feedback on the process to the homeowner. If I could rate on a plus or minus system, this would be a B+. Joey was very forthright and easy to talk to, though, and made the experience as painless as possible. He was what made this process more positive than it could have been.

He came out and measured the floor and measured it 20 sq ft more than I did. He also tried to charge 2.00 per sq ft extra when the big deal said $1.85 a sq ft extra over the 350 sq ft in the deal. I will not be using this provider for the work due to these changes.

I was preparing to sell my house and after 35 years with area carpets, the floors needed to be refinished. Joey (the sales manager) came to the house did the measurements and made some recommendations (including staying with the wood?s natural color which saved me the cost of staining) that I agreed to. The work was done on scheduled and the finished product looked great.

Great prices, great work, efficient and quick. Joey is the best!

I prefer to have a refund on this deal. This is a very good company, but I do not want to take advantage of this offer right now.

The assistant came to my home and assessed the area that I needed the work done. She was very polite, very polite and extremely professional. She assured me that if I had any problems, I could contact her personally. For the whole process, she made herself available so I could speak to her at any time and that’s what I like the most. I was unsure about using them because I had never used Angie’s List before but I am extremely pleased with my floors. The floors made the wombs pop. I love it. They told me how long it was going to take. They finished on time and they told me what they have to do. The floor looks so good. The owner gave me a date when he would have something available and he stuck on that. The person who had originally came out to assist me, he had left the job that’s why it took a little longer. They are all professional. The owner was very nice man and I have his personal number. I was really pleased with them. I can’t wait until them come to do something again. The only little experience that was uncomfortable for me and it really wasn’t that uncomfortable, the guys were Spanish speaking and I could not understand what they were saying. Thank God to the assistant because I could always communicate with her if I couldn’t understand them. The first guy who came out offered me a number of things that they didn’t offer.

We initially took advantage of a deal to refinish hardwoods and ended up also contracting Dominion to install slate in our kitchen and carpet in our basement. The quality and value of the carpet were adequate; no major complaints. Dominion subcontracted out the hardwood refinishing job which was not acceptable. The did eventually agree to return and fix some fairly serious problems, including they failed to fill the holes from the carpet tacks on our staircases, the sanding throughout was uneven, and there were many visible problems including missing moulding. Most of these problems were eventually addressed, but not to our complete satisfaction. Our biggest problem with Dominion was their installation of slate tiles in our kitchen. Instead of removing the old linoleum, they simply covered it up with backer board and laid the slate in over the top, raising the level of the kitchen floor at least an inch. They did not bother to remove and replace the baseboards. We specifically asked them if raising the floor would cause problems with removing and replacing our old dishwasher and trash compactor. We also asked whether we should install the tile underneath the dishwasher and trash compactor. Joey at Dominion assured us that it wouldn't be a problem and stated that the best way to go would be to just install the slate up to the fronts of the appliances. Unfortunately, we trusted him and were eager to get it done. Of course, now we had to spend several hundred dollars for someone to remove the compactor which had to be completely destroyed just to remove. We expect to have similar issues with the dishwasher. When we first learned of these issues, we repeatedly attempted to contact Dominion hoping that they could remove the tiles near the appliances so that we could replace them and then replace the tiles. We never heard back from them. Currently, the removed trash compactor has left a gaping hole in our kitchen and we will need to hire someone to install the slate where there which now has the original linoleum. As you can imagine, it looks horrible. Additionally, we will have to hire someone else to finally fix one of the thresholds between the higher kitchen floor and the lower floor in the hallway; Dominion left this important task incomplete. Overall, we are very dissatisfied and wish that we had never hired them.

Dominion did an excellent job installing carpet at my house in Arlington, VA. The installers were on time and did a great job. Highly recommended.

Each time I use Angie's List, I must remember that you get what you pay for and nothing more. They did a beautiful job sanding and staining my floors. (My house is over 65 years old and I don't know when the floors were last done. Most of the space had been covered with carpet for many years.) The cheap Angie's List price, however, did not include covering nails, tightening loose boards or three coats of polyurethane (or whatever was used for the protection and shine). My old floors look much better than when I purchased this old home, but really could have used a third protective coating (they said I have two coats). I ended up having to stay away from my home at a hotel for two extra days (originally told two days would be sufficient) that I had not planned because of a family member's health and inability to breath the fumes. Because the workers did not remember to take my business card with them, no one called to tell me to come secure my home for the evening. My alarm system went off and the fire department was called because the company failed to cover all of the alarms, etc. Really do not want to sound nasty. I believe I expected way more than what I received for the money spent.

Short story: They never responded to any of my messages to get an estimate scheduled based on the deal I purchased. That's it.
