Kevin came over on a Sunday afternoon to take a look at what needed done. He arrived on time, explained in detail what Discount Energy Services would do, and gave me an estimate on the spot. I called the office on Monday and they were able to schedule me that Friday. The guys showed up promptly on Friday, did exactly what Kevin said they would do (without damaging a freshly painted window sill - they pulled the cellulose spray hose through the window to get it into the porch attic) and cleaned up after themselves. Not a shred of insulation or other materials anywhere. It was a great experience, and I would definitely use them again and recommend them to anyone else who needed insulation.

Kevin came out to give the estimate, which was great. He was very nice and answered all of our questions, which we really appreciated. The job was scheduled for the first week of December, however, we were called the week before Thanksgiving and asked if they could do it that weekend, so we said sure. Two guys showed up and set up for the job, only to realize they did not have all of the equipment/materials. So after dragging tubes and plastic sheeting through our house, they removed it all and said they would come back later that day. They never came back or called to say they wouldn't be back. After a few hours, we just assumed they would come on the scheduled date in December. Instead, they came the next weekend (they called an hour before showing up). They finished in about 4 hours and cleaned up after themselves. It seemed like they did a good job with the insulation, since our heating bills were much less after the job was completed. Overall, we were happy with the service. The problem came when we needed an invoice for the work so we could get the Department of Energy tax credit. It took me three months to get the invoice. The last month (January), I called the office every single day until the woman finally e-mailed the invoice to me. It was ridiculous! When I finally received the invoice, it consisted of one line, which included the material used and the total. Something tells me that did not take three months! If it weren't for the incompetent office staff, and scheduling issues, I probably would have given this company a higher rating.

Went seamlessly. Their price was fair, they showed up two days after we agreed to the work (although with very little notice - 10 minutes) and were done promptly. The work was done well and efficiently. This is the 2nd time I have used Discount Energy and 2nd time I have been happy with them.

The estimate process was very straight forward, which I really appreciated after having sat through a couple estimates from salesmen types who tried to get me to purchase more than I needed. I gave a deposit and scheduled a date. They had an opening a week early and called to see if I wanted to have the work done sooner and I accepted. Everything went really well during the actual installation. The crew that did the work arrived on time, were friendly and worked very efficiently. I inspected the attic after they were finished and everything was completed per the agreement. They vacuumed and cleaned up nicely before leaving.

Received a free estimate of services to be performed; representative was very experienced and knowledgable. Work was completed as scheduled; was done very professionally, and has resulted in lower heating/air conditioning bills. This was money well spent.

I was recommended this company from an energy auditer. They were very responsive. Kevin came out and reviewed the energy audit and then thoroughly inspected my home with the audit in hand. He then wrote an explicitly detailed proposal that seemed very reasonable based on the socpe of work they were to perform. There was somewhat of a delay in the work being carried out as it was in December and other customers really wanted the tax credit. I didn't need it so I agreed to have the work done in January. This was my own doing. They were willing to come on Christmas or New Year's eve, but I refused. When the workers did come, they thoroughly reviewed the work they were to perform before starting. They were very professional and completed the job in a day. I was very satisfied with their work and would recommend their company to anyone.

good. very happy with work performed however getting receipt showing breakout of material vs. labor needed for tax receipt has been extremely difficult. still do not have detailed broken out receipt. work appears to be have done correctly - I haven't climbed over the 12" of added insulation to look at the eaves in the attic it's hard to actually see the work away from the attic opening. My Upstairs has been warmer in the winter and the a/c seemed to work a bit less during the summer. with a quiet winter this year, can't speak to the ice dam issue of previous years. would recommend.

The contractor came to the house and provided an estimate for adding insulation to the attic after reviewing the work that needed to be done. All the options they provide were explained. We scheduled a date in January but called on December and were able to do the insulation work and clean-up in 3-4 hours. The crew was professional and we were able to review the work prior to they left. Overall, I was very pleased with the work done.

Overall, it went well. The only issue that I had was getting the service time scheduled. The company called me at 9:30 PM the night before the job was supposed to be done to tell me that they had to reschedule. I understand that this is a mom/pop operation, however a bit more notice would have been appreciated. Only due to flexibility at work was I able to reschedule for the day after it was originally supposed to be done. It was a bit of a pain to rearrange my meetings however it all worked out in the end. However, once scheduled, the crew did arrive on time, and did a very good job. They worked efficiently, and completed the job much earlier than I expected. There was no major damage to the interior of my house. Only a few nail pops from them moving around in attic, however I have read that those are very common anyway. I would also like to note this has to be one of the most honest companies I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I was given an initial estimate of 1428 to complete the job. After leaving, the owner called me and said that he made a math mistake and that it would be 100 less than what the estimate cost. A few days later my wife and I signed the estimate showing a 1428 price. When the crew arrived they were surprised to find that the estimate was 100 more than they showed the price to be. A call to the owner sorted it out and the company was happy to honor the lower price, even though they could have said that we signed the estimate with the higher price. I was very surprised and impressed with the honesty and integrity that the owner showed. I would definitely use this company again.

I thought that this company was kind of shady. They were punctual, and responsive but something seemed off about them so I did not use them.

They were quite late when giving me the estimate. Where suppose to be here at 3:30-4. Called at 3:30 would arrive in about 30 minutes due to traffic. Not a good way to start but was very professional and helpful one they arrived. They did arrive on time the day of the job. Fast, efficient and a good price. I request 5% discount for cash, not a problem.

My experience with them was really good. The price was good and they were definitely professional.

They showed up on time to do the work, and finished it within a few hours. I can feel a big "before" and "after" difference with the temperature of the home. The crawlspace was dark, short, and full of cobwebs, but they insulated it without any complaints. They cleaned up afterward pretty well, and even swept the driveway. The only hassle was that we had to reschedule the estimate twice because they were running late. Once I met with Kevin for the estimate, I had the insulation within a week. This was because they had a cancellation and offered me a much earlier date than we had initially set, which was really appreciated. The work and price were very good, so I would recommend this company.

This boosted the R value to R49. We scheduled the work and one of my neighbors was getting an estimate at the same time. They sent out a two person crew and I believe that did both of our houses at the same time. They were very clean about it and it took maybe half a day to do the job, at the most.

It went great. The price was very reasonable and both the estimator and installation crew showed up on time. We had it installed the same day TS Hanna came through. With all that rain, the crew still did not make a mess inside even going upstairs, down the hall, and into a child's bedroom. I would highly recommend them.

They are one of 2-3 companies in the DC area that install residential blown-in cellulose fiber insulation, a "green" material we were interested in using vs. fiberglass. They were the lowest bid, offered to beat other written estimates, and when asked, offered an additional 5% off for cash payment. To help with noise abatement between our condo and the upstairs condo, we wanted insulation installed in our ceiling and the side wall along the upper condo's staircase. Blown-in cellulose fiber insulation required them to run a hose through the house, bore 2 holes every few feet, blow insulation up one hole, stop when it blows out of the other hole, cork the holes, and patch them up. The job took a day longer than they expected as the ceiling had beams every 2-3 feet which required more holes at closer intervals. The workers showed up late both days but conducted themselves professionally and worked hard on site. Different workers showed up on the second day. The cleanup at the end of each day was not too good, but then again, cellulose fiber gets into everything. The hole patch ups could have been better, but knowing us, we would have redone it anyways.

Overall it went good but not great. The estimator was professional and the estimate was well put together and concise. They were timely ( 2 1/2 weeks from contract signing) in starting the work. They were late the first day which pushed the job into a second day. Luckily, I could work from home for the 2nd day, otherwise I would have rated the experience poorly. The quality was good and the price was right in line with published norms (per square foot) and also matched well the effort that I saw the workers put in to the job. The clean-up was ok and workers were nice. The spackling job was not very good but I was expecting to have to do additional work anyway.

They were delayed, showed up very late, left in the middle of work and did not come back the next day. Finally came back the 3rd day and got the work done. The workers had a very grumpy attitude. I found out they left a mess around my shed.
