DGL Construction & Renovation

I’ll begin this review with the most important information: DGL provides excellent service at a reasonable price. I hired them to install my Ikea kitchen after Ikea’s third-party contractors gave me so much runaround I looked for alternatives. Diego and his crew installed my kitchen in about half the time that Ikea’s contractors quoted me (three weeks instead of five). He’s very responsive – our first exchanges were within 15 minutes of posting my inquiry on Angie’s List - and there’s so much less bureaucracy going with a small family-run business. Bonus points for being dog-friendly. :) Diego limits the number of projects he takes on to be able to personally oversee each one. During my installation, he was here about half the time. Diego is gregarious and affable; he does a good job keeping the customer informed of progress and delays. He chooses his employees and subcontractors carefully: As a woman who is generally home alone during the day, I never felt uneasy or anxious about having the guys around. On my project, Cristián did the carpentry and took care of day-to-day affairs, and I think he’s one in a million. He does a good job keeping both the customer and Diego informed about any issues that arise and regularly requests the customer’s input about how to proceed. I found him to be very nose-to-the-grindstone, just-the-facts-ma’am, less loquacious than Diego (which is fine!), but also warm, respectful and extraordinarily kind. Leo is the young helper who does drywall patching and clean-up; he’s a sweet kid. Diego and Cristián did the plumbing, then there were subcontractors who handled each of the other specialized trades (tiling, painting, electrical - I found Jorge the electrician to be especially open and pleasant). Lorena handles the business aspects such as contracts and payments – I only texted or e-mailed with her a few times, but can say that she is responsive and cordial. Will definitely hire again.

I cannot be happier with the end result. My bathroom is beautiful. First, Mr. Lerner explained the project in detail before beginning the work, and provided excellent advice to me so that I could go out and obtain all of the little touches at competitive prices. Mr. Lerner and his crew of workers came on time and worked very efficiently. They stayed late, his crew politely asked questions regarding style elements, and i saw progress each day. The demo was completed quickly. The installation of the tub, new walls, and the tiles was next, and the work proceeded in a timely fashion. Even after discovering issues with the existing plumbing, Mr. Lerner was able to complete the shower and tile installation per his time estimate. There were a few times we had a minor hiccup in obtaining certain materials (the vanity) from a vendor, and Mr. Lerner kept me apprised of the situation, and even went to bat for me to obtain some additional relief due to the vendor's error. I also appreciated his attention to detail. Mr. Lerner would advise me in advance of additional materials that were needed, and he was available by telephone or text to answer questions regularly. His crew were also conscientious. They regularly cleaned up, so that my place was not dusty or dirty, even in the middle of the project, and they left the place on the final day completely immaculate. He even ensured the bathroom floor, which was not part of the project, was cleaned and stained so it looked brand new. The quality of the tub, the granite, the sinks, the exhaust fan, and other materials he selected were top notch. I strongly believe the quality of the materials he selected were even better than those I could've located on my own. His enthusiasm was very appreciated. I truly felt that Mr. Lerner desired to do a great job and wanted to know I was satisfied with the results. I am extremely impressed with the work performed and I will refer Mr. Lerner to my friends.. I intend to use his services again for other projects.

Vey well. Diego and his crew are most professional. He always does an advance visit to assess the work and provide an estimate. He then comes prepared to complete the job on the day of the work. They always perform quality work in an efficient manner. I have another job lined up with them next week and have recommended them to others.

Diego at DGL was great during the entire remodel! I would recommend him highly, and plan on asking him to redo our kitchen next year. They did all the legwork for us, which is good because we work full time. This project involved electrical, plumbing, drywall, painting, and tile; and EVERYTHING turned out beautifully!

The owner, Diego, is very professional and friendly . That's why I have been using this company for almost 3 years already.Diego Is very detailed with his work and very educated and patient when it comes to explaining project issues. We are more than happy with the result of his work. We will surely hire this company for the addition of a room in the summer house.

Things went very smoothly. The owner of the company took care of every detail and explained each and every step to follow. He helped us pick the accessories, tiles etc. and gave us a very good discount through his supplier tile company. Done in a timely and professional manner, we will definitely hire this company next month to build a bathroom in our basement.

Diego was great to work with. He installed a wall of marble mosaic tile that was difficult to install and required great attention to detail He spent significant time ensuring the tiles were lined up perfectly. Diego is very professional and will not leave a job until he is sure the customer is happy. He started and finished exactly when he promised.

Worst experience I have ever had. I don't know if my needs were insignificant to Diego since he received many A's in his reviews. I was communicating with his wife all week she said each day I will give you a two hour window when he will arrive and the two hour window never came. She finally texted me with a commitment for the next day a week later. I told her that I had an appointment at 4 pm that evening she said he will come before 3 pm I texted her back and repeated I would have to leave my house by 4 pm to take in consideration that the job would have to be completed by then if he choose to come. The next day at 3 pm I received a text from her that said he was on his way and would be here in 45 minutes. I immediately called her to ask if she got my text that I would be leaving at 4 pm, she said she did but I should not worry that I could leave Diego alone at my house and go about my business. I told her I couldn't leave him alone at my house and his wife said if you don't trust him I will have to call him and tell him not to come. I told her it was not a matter of trust I did not know him and would not be comfortable leaving a stranger alone in my home. This was very unprofessional and disrespectable to me I felt it was set up to fail.

It went extremely well. DGL can do beautiful and very satisfying work from small projects to ones that are large and sometimes complicated. Diego and Leo are patient, professional and if the need arises can think creatively and as we say "outside the box." They do terrific work and are so pleasant and easy to work with.

Diego is an outstanding professional. His craftsmanship and attention to detail are incredible. He can be counted on to carry out all jobs with great precision and faithfulness to what the client wants, but at the same time he offers very helpful and timely advice. He has an impressive track record and experience, and it shows. He helped me save a ton of money. In addition to this, his honesty and integrity are unparalleled. And he is very personable and pleasant man so having him around the house is a joy. I have seldom in my life encountered someone who works so happily, willingly and effectively. I have recommended him to colleagues and friends and they have called to thank me for this. I unreservedly recommend him. Diego = 5 star service!!

After the initial inspection, he brought all the necessary tools to get the job done in a timely manner. I'm very happy with the work done and highly recommended Diego.

I had an idea of what I wanted and conveyed that to Diego. He came up with many suggestions that I didn't think about. His past experience with this type of work gave him that kind of insight. The work he did was excellent! The finished job was better than what I had imagined. Diego and his crew worked well together. They were neat and cleaned up after themselves and left the place in the same condition it was before the job started. We are very pleased with the work. Friendly, professional and a work ethic to deliver.

DLG did a fantastic job all the way from contacting me to concluding the project. They were very responsive. Diego let me know his plan for each day, was mindful to understand how I envisioned the space, he sought my ideas, and shared his options with pros and cons to accomplish my vision. I had a set budget, so Diego worked me with me on figuring out which parts of the job were most cost effective for DLG to do, and I was able to buy a few materials in order to save time and money. DLG was very clear about all expenses and labor costs.

He did a nice job. He removed existing caulk lines and re-grouted. Would hire again. Thanks!

Very well. DSL worked diligently to carefully remove the old grout and caulk. Diego was prompt and east to talk with to discuss the job at hand. He explained the characteristics of the materials he was using and provided relevant information about maintenance and life cycle of the products.

Wow! Diego gave us great ideas on how to renovate our bathroom, not only he finish on time but every day he'll come to work with a such a great positive energy , it was a pleasure having him and his workers in our home for the time that the project last . Very clean, responsible and we could tell he's is very knowledge. Thank you very much again Diego. This is the second project that you done for us and we are definitely going to call you to do the remodeling of our basement.

We call DGL because my friend gave me great references about them. I'm glad that we hired them.The workman Diego ,was very polite and competent, when I met him I knew that we where in good hands . The job was done in time and the results excised my expectations. I will most certainly call them again in spring for some more renovations. The total cost for all the job was,as other people had said before, _ the lower price I found.

I did not hear from them until I contacted them three days after purchase. An unprofessional voice mail was left on my phone telling me they sent me a text and an email neither of which was received.

From the first phone contact to the end of the project things went exceptionally well. It was a pleasure dealing with people who are so pleasant, agreeable and excellent at what they do. I will call Diego and his crew again without any hesitation. I have already recommended them to friends and neithgbors.

They were professional and prompt. They did do the work in appropriate time but it was not as neat as I expected from a professional. The old caulking was not totally removed before put the new caulking in and there was caulking smeared on parts where it was not suppose to be.

The original agreement was for 2 hours of work. We chose a set of tasks that we thought could be completed in two hours They worked hard and the grout and caulk work was excellent It took a bit longer than two hours so I paid them extra.
