Diego and his team were exceptional to work with. Diego has a vast amount of experience, and his team is efficient and does high quality work. I found DGL through Angies list, and decided to use them because they had the best reviews and the best price. Diego lived up to all of his reviews, and went well beyond what we were hoping. Diego worked with us from the beginning to go over everything that we would be responsible for and what he would take care of. When construction started, our expectations were blown most days by how efficient, clean and qualified they were. They were especially great at solving any problem that came their way, and making up for any mistakes or extra problems that occurred because of construction. He did a great job of going above and beyond the initial contract's specifications, making the finished product something fantastic. He initially estimated the job would take 3 weeks, and it was finished in 2. His whole team did a fantastic job. I highly recommend using DGL.

This was not a small project, nor was it an easy project. After getting 6 estimates, we hired DGL Construction because their estimate was very competitive and we liked being able to pick out all our own fixtures. Additionally, Diego, the owner, was very responsive to my numerous questions. After having several conversations with Diego and Lorena, I got a very good feeling about the company. All in all, the project went very well. Diego was extremely reliable, trustworthy, and professional throughout the project. There were a few bumps, which I think is to be expected for a project of this size, which took approximately a month to complete and was completed on time. I was pleased that the final cost came in at about 10-15% more than the estimate, which I thought was really fair. We had requested several upgrades during the process, so there was added cost for those. Diego also told us up front that he would have to charge us for any major surprises encountered during the process, but he really tried very hard to keep that to a minimum. I did not feel like he was trying to gouge us with upcharges at all. Also, unlike some larger companies, he was very flexible with changes. Note that the total cost of approximately $20,000 included labor and building materials (drywall, most paint, electrical materials, grout, heated floors, etc.) but not the major materials (toilet, sink, vanity, tile, etc.). I would suggest it would help to have a list of what is considered building materials as sometimes it was a little confusing and the guidance wasn't always clear. It was nothing major, and 99% of the time "building materials" is self-explanatory, but a list might help customers for budgeting purposes. Diego has contacts for vanities, countertops, etc., and was able to get us great deals. But there was no pressure to use them at all. He also recommended shopping at Floor & Decor, which is a great store. I bought most things online -- had I had to go through a contractor's showroom, I think the price would have overall been 1.5 times what we ended up spending (about $30,000 total including all materials and labor). Diego picked up any heavy materials that were in local stores like Home Depot or Floor & Decor. Diego came to the house at least once a day to check the progress. There were about 6-8 different professionals who worked on the space depending on the job. There were plumbers, electricians, a tile installer, and demo/drywall/trim/painting people, as well as a foreman. They were all very nice and professional, and we totally trusted them in our house while we were at work. They arrived on time every day, six days a week. They would generally work a full day and sometimes well into the evening. I would definitely recommend communicating with Diego in advance if there are times they shouldn't be there at night due to having people over, etc. Otherwise, they do sometimes like to keep working to keep the job moving. They were as quiet as possible (I was often working at home, and they did not bother me at all) and cleaned up and vacuumed daily. They kept their tools in our garage -- I think it helped to have a dedicated place for them to keep things out of the way. We have a baby who is sleeping in our bedroom, so we did not want a lot of dust, which I realize is inevitable. They put plastic sheeting up to prevent dust from getting into our bedroom to the greatest extent possible and also put down drop cloths going up the stairs. Was there dust? Yes, but this was a construction zone. Considering the extent of the work done, I think they did a great job keeping things clean. The first few days of the project were spent gutting the existing space. I was surprised at how quiet and methodological Christian and Leo were at this! There was basically no noise and very little mess. They cut everything (lots of drywall and tile that had been on the walls, floor, shower, etc.) into little bits and carried it out in bags. It was NOT the loud, messy show you see on HGTV. Once they got the space prepped, they started work on reframing, roughing in the plumbing, and the electrical. The drywall and painting jobs were excellent. The workmanship is fantastic. Everything else was of great quality, too. The electrical works great and wasn't without bumps in the road due to our nearly overloaded electrical panel (not their fault). Diego was concerned that adding the heated floors might cause issues, so the electrician was creative in addressing this. Likewise, I had wanted a vanity with a center tower. However, unbeknownst to me, it was too tall for the room when adding for the height of the countertop. Diego was creative and suggested sawing off unneeded space from the bottom of the base vanity. No one would ever notice! There were a few hiccups like this, and he always figured out every problem. I would always be very alarmed when he told me about the problem -- maybe he should start with the solution first, as there were several times I panicked and then realized he had everything under control. Any time I pointed out something that didn't seem quite right in terms of quality, he was quick to acknowledge it and fix it. For example, there were a few places I asked to have retiled where the tile didn't match up and where a broken tile was installed, the vanity cabinets were initially installed backwards, etc. He fixed all these the next day. The tile installed was the sweetest person but perhaps the quality was not quite as good as some of the other work. There is definite pride in workmanship. In terms of communication, since it was a large project, my only suggestion would be to have an in-person meeting to go over everything before the project starts, and to have a rough project checklist. We definitely spoke by phone extensively and I texted Lorena daily (and she responds very quickly) -- Diego and everyone at DGL is very accommodating and giving of their time. But I think it would have helped to have been able to discuss all the little details in advance. For example, once we came home and the light in the bathroom wasn't centered in the ceiling. Come to find out that was not possible, but it would have been good to know that in advance. Lastly, we had them do some additional work -- they replaced our hot water heater and copper piping in the basement. Again, Diego did not try to upsell us and did not make a profit off the cost of the water heater -- he just charges the price he pays. When carrying out the old water heater, they knocked a picture off the wall. Honestly, I didn't even notice. But, Diego took the picture to a professional framer and had it professional reframed. This is the type of person he is and the type of business he runs. He prides himself on the quality of his work and is very honest. I hope to have the pleasure of working with Diego, Lorena, and everyone at DGL in the future.

Diego and team did an outstanding job on our bathroom. They were prompt, professional and polite. He also gave some great advice on what could be done to give the illusion that the space is larger After the project was completed, everything was cleaned and in good condition. You will not be disappointed with Diego and team.

Getting scheduled went ok, Gal in office forgot to call me to confirm how many were coming but I called and got the answer. They were 20 minutes late but called to inform me. These are picky complaints because overall I was happy that I got all those things done, I would use them again.

The bathroom came out great. Diego and his team made the experience easy. They were responsive from beginning to end, did high quality work, were accommodating of my special requests in materials/design (use of stain-proof grout, special order tiles, etc), offered good suggestions along the way, and cleaned up thoroughly each day. The price was very fair especially for the high quality of the work. The project added a lot of value to my home, both functionally and aesthetically. I solidly recommend this company.

DGL had done some other work for me, and had done an excellent job, so I asked them to help me again to install an 80" long solid walnut (heavy) light fixture that had been custom made by a local shop and install a small shelf. In spite of the fact I called at the last minute, Diego and Leo came out late in the evening on a Friday to do the work to help me meet a short deadline. Would have made it too, except the local shop had supplied bolts that were too short for safety. Diego is the one who noticed this (thank goodness!), and turned himself inside out to try to get the right replacements. Diego, Leo and Chris finished the installation, and did an excellent job. DGL is easy to work with, I've always had good communication with Lorena in the office regarding scheduling and billing, their work has been excellent and they are careful of my home. What's not to like? I will call on them again as the need arises.

He arrived promptly, got right to work, had all equipment and correct supplies to complete the jobs. He even came back to do some last minute electrical outlet work I suddenly found I needed the evening just before my house was to go on the market the next day.. He is extremely knowledgeable about many things, is very well spoken in both English and Spanish . The person who answers his phone line was very helpful and arranged the times and followed up very quickly. whenever I called. She also speaks excellent English and makes you know she and he really care and want to help solve your need.

Absolute pleasure working with DGL Construction. I was looking for a reputable person to install radiant heat flooring, but could not find anyone who would had the skills to do both the flooring installation and electrical work. Diego brought in a licensed electrician and they worked side-by-side to do a fantastic job. Very responsive and punctual. They completed the job in the contracted time and were fair in the pricing. Diego is very meticulous with detail work. The walls were repaired and repainted from the electrical work, and everything was done to perfection. No shortcuts, and he went above and beyond to make sure everything was installed perfectly. My floors are absolutely stunning. I am going to hire him again to do bathroom remodeling in the near future, and I look forward to working with him again and another beautiful upgrade to my home.

Diego arrived on time and did a neat job of repairing cracks on the edge of asphalt driveway.

My two very old bathrooms were remodelled in July by DGL Construction. They did a fantastic job at a reasonable price and I highly recommend them. You buy the materials and you tell them what you want and they do the work. They did demolition, re-build, paint, wainscoting, tiling-all excellent.

It was truly a pleasure to work with Diego and Lorena , they were outstanding to work with and ensured all aspects of this project were taken care of and our questions answered. Workers were always right on time, extremely neat and very polite. Time frame: they finished right on time...even after I made last min additions/changes. They even fixed my water heater when they notice a slight leak at no extra charge to me!! I strongly recommend this company for their high quality, amazing customer service and great value!! Couldn't be happier with my new full bathroom and kitchenette in my basement : awesome renovated basement!!!

Overall, pretty well. Delays happened, but due to supplier issues with our the stone vendor for the sink and tile. Whatever was in his power to do, Diego accomplished quickly. I do wish there'd been a few more dropcloths laid out on the demo day, but other than that, it went very well. He was also quick to assist when something completely unrelated happened and needed a repair, which made life much easier on a hectic day when all our family had to be in other places.

The office was very polite and organized in scheduling the visit. The professionals came on time, immediately got to work, were not daunted by any technical difficulties of any kind and did a great job. They used a laser to make sure the light was centered. They also were extremely careful to avoid damaging something or making a mess; they took great care to clean up after themselves. I understand they work mainly on kitchen and bathroom renovations in the Virginia area. I would recommend them highly.

After several years of dealing with these doors sticking and not opening correctly, it is delightful to have normal operating doors.

They did an excellent and efficient job and stayed a few minutes over time to finish up. I recommend them!

thrilled with my new luxury bathroom with jacuzzi!. Diego Lerner was excellent and every single person who worked for him was professional, and always treated me with courtesy. Diego helped me put the finishing touches on my rough design and was my main point of contact throughout the project. Of the three companies I seriously considered, DGL and one other were competitive on price. Diego was one of the main reasons I went with DGL. DGL also stood out because of their willingness to go the extra mile. One of the three companies I considered was perhaps the most established and well known in the Alexandria area. However, they were not willing to be directly responsible for extras such as the flooring throughout the room on the basement,painting or the closet that I really wanted to remodel. I would have needed to hire other contractors for that work. DGL willingness to provide more than just the bathroom remodel made my live much easier by not having to coordinate with several different contractors. Beyond their willingness, DGL truly listened to me and demonstrated their interest in understanding the elements of my remodel that were most important to me,even if these were not as convenient for the crew. A great example of this was their willingness to completely replace the sub-floor when other contractors weren’t willing to consider this extra step. The actual construction went as smoothly as could it could have. Our neighbors commented on how nice the workers were. The neighbors were especially impressed by the fact that DGL put down plastic protective sheeting all the way up the hallways that runs the entire length of my house to protect the carpets. This is something that no one remembers any other contractor doing. It should go without saying that no remodeling job of this scope goes entirely as planned. Something unexpected will always come up. DGL was exceptional in handling any hiccups. I was pleasantly surprised when they finished on schedule. One other person that I would like to mention is Lorena , she was the first person I talked to on the phone. She was friendly, showed an interest in our project and worked with me to find a good time for the initial visit with Diego. Obviously, I recommend DGL without any reservations and would use them again in a heart beat.The crew was very friendly and expert at what they were doing. Every little issue was resolved right away with the designer/owner Diego Lerner. I had so many bad experiences in the past with different companies working on and in my house that I was delighted to have found such a great and serious company. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who needs a new kitchen , bathroom or flooring.

I got several estimates from several different contractors and when I met the owner, Diego, I knew right away he was the right person. Diego was honest, friendly, respectful and really took the time to understand what I wanted and then explain exactly what would need to be done. Diego was very involved in the project and came by every day to give direction and inspect the work. His workers were excellent and friendly. Diego made sure everything was done right and did not cut corners. They actually finished over a week ahead of schedule. The finished bathroom exceeded my expectations. Also, all of the estimates I got only included a small, prefabricated shower. DGL did it for the same price with a fully custom made tile shower. I plan to use DGL for all of my future home improvements.

Diego and his assistant did an excellent job. He was very friendly and open for any discussions and requests, communicated all issues related to the task very clearly and explained all pros and cons. He even went with me to see the paint (which in fact was beyond his work) and advised whether it would be suitable for the job. The work was done fast, with quality and without any stress on my part. His receptionist contacted me several times before the day of the actual work to schedule the day and time, and check whether everything is going according to the agreed plan. It saved me a lot of efforts. I was very happy with the work and would definitely use Diego's services in future.

DGL was punctual, professional, and honest - but I was not happy with the quality of work I received for interior painting. The person Diego used did not seem like he was a regular employee of DGL. They stated that they do not usually do interior painting and it showed, the edges were not clean and they dripped paint on the molding. While I think they would be better for other projects, I would not recommend them for interior painting.

The job went exceptionally well. The gentlemen was very professional, competent, and very knowledgeable on all the work that I needed performed. They completed the work within a reasonable time span which made me very happy. I would highly recommend DGL Construction and Renovation for anyone looking for a company that take pride in giving you the best possible service.

Mr Diego Lerner inspected the mortise lock and door, told me he can do the job, charged me an extra $100 + credit card fee, for the extra time and I willingly agreed. He installed it incorrectly and it did not work at all. I was not satisfied, but he agreed to come back the next morning to fix it. that night I noticed that two of the ceiling fans that his worker had claimed to fix the remote frequencies, were still responding to the same frequency as before. When he came back in the morning I told him about the fans and he says that the neighbor must have additional fans, but I know that they do not (I've lived there for 7 years and I've been in the neighbor's house several times). He said that he would have to charge me to change the fan remote frequencies. I was not satisfied with that. He then proceed to work on the lock and he broke the key inside the lock mechanism. Now the lock was useless and I was very upset but he said that I should purchase a new lock, he would repay me for it and he would return to install that one instead. Surprisingly, I myself was able to push the broken key out of the lock. I then inspected his work and found that he did not make the hole in the door jamb deep enough. Something any carpenter would know to check. I literally pulled out my drill and an appropriate bit and fixed it myself. I offered a compromise that he should return when he could fit me into his schedule to fix the fans, but he refused and said that he would have to charge me $120 for something that I already paid for. My email to his office after I contacted him to come and fix the ceiling fans: I am dissatisfied with Mr. Diego's work and work ethic. Mr. Diego was paid 100% as agreed. I always pay my bills and stick to my word and responsibilities. I have an expectation of work being performed using industry methods and quality and the results to be as expected and as promised. Despite that, Mr. Diego did not perform as I requested. I tried to offer an equitable solution but he has rejected that. Mr Diego was paid to do a task, this is not a personal favor and he is responsible for any outcome. No one said it should be easy, he listened to my request, inspected the items and said that he and his workers could do the task - he is responsible for his workers' work product. Therefore he should be able to do it without me having to recommend a proper solution or go behind him to fix his work. Electrical: Anyone knows that when you have fan remote frequencies that need to be changed, you should change all of the fans in the house, not just some of them. Two were not changed because the exact same ones are still being controlled by the exact same outside fans, otherwise how could they still be the same frequency as the same outside fans? Only two fans, no more, were affecting mine. Carpentry: Mr Diego said that he could install the lock, which I provided. He inspected the door, notified me that it would take some carpentry to make it fit and agreed to do the task. I responsibly paid extra for the overtime to do the task that he had agreed to do. He then installed it incorrectly and subsequently broke the lock, which he is responsible for. I literally had to fix it myself and now I have to pay for a new key to be made. I then notified you, by calling his provided phone number, that I still want the ceiling fans resolved and that I had to go behind him and literally fix and repair his incorrect work with the door knob. Neither I nor anyone should have to do that when working with a paid professional. It is neither fair nor proper for me to have to pay and resolve these issues myself. I performed my responsibility. Based on what you have written and my above statements, I feel that I have been wronged. I'll notify Angie's List about my dissatisfaction and ask them to resolve this.

It wont very well. The team arrived on time, provided all of their own tools and cleaned up afterwards, which is a problem I have had with some previous contractors. They were very knowledgeable in what was required to hang the cabinets correctly, which was very helpful. I only know what I need done, not the best way to do it, so having a professional there to offer guidance was great. Will definitely use them again.

Excellent service and pain free process. Diego was able to get to the job weeks ahead of planning and it was completed in only a few days. My wife was home during the entire demolition/construction and said she had no idea they were even working. Diego walked us through the entire process and offered several different options. I was very, very happy with the process and the final work. Diego even walked my wife through the choices of paint, grouting color, etc.. so there wasn't a constant back and forth over the phone while I was at work. The bathroom turned out beautiful and the result was exactly what we agreed upon during our first meeting. DGL is a family business and it was always easy to get a hold of Diego or Lorena for whatever we needed. I highly recommend DGL, especially for the Kingstowne area townhouses that Diego most frequently works on (and lives in).

Excellent service and quality. Both gentlemen were very polite and professional. Offered to fix items even though I did not have it on my list. I appreciate the service and have already told them that I have more projects for them. Cleaned up the powder room after working and were very conscientious about respecting my house and belongings.
