Description of Work: They did an annual maintenance check up. They check heating unit, your air conditioning unit, your press. They make sure there's enough coolant in the system to cool your house. They do a maintenance check basically.

I went to Cyprus Air (also known as Indoor Comfort and www.gaslogs.com) for a gas insert for our fireplace. As soon as I walked in the door and told the salesperson I was interested in a gas insert, he said "no, i think what you want are gas logs." I decided to hear him out because the gas logs were $3,600 (about $2,000 less than the gas insert). I even remarked on never having a salesperson try to sell you something less expensive. He sold me on the "Cyprus Campfire" a gas log set that is designed exclusively for Cyprus Air. The salesperson wrote up a contract and scheduled an install date. All the while, I questioned that I still thought I wanted the gas insert. After returning home and thinking about it more, I thought, I DO want the gas insert and at this price, I want what I want. I tried to reach the salesperson but did not hear back. I then decided to cancel the order entirely, thinking the reason I was sold on the gas logs was that the profit margin must be much greater on this "exclusive" gas log. This was less than 24 hours after purchasing the item (on a Sunday afternoon). The process of canceling dragged on for almost a week. I was told "you have to talk to your salesperson." Finally did, and then he told me I had to talk to his manager. In the meantime, because of the runaround, I pre-emptively put the charge on my credit card into dispute. The general manager finally called me back, 5 days later. He said "it's no problem to cancel but we will charge you 20% -- almost $800! -- as a restocking fee." Though not surprised, I was outraged! This company provided no service, never came to my home, never pulled any items "from stock," and the only time that was lost on this sale has been my own in trying to cancel this purchase. I know they exist, but it is always surprising to find companies that practice such shady business that they would rather swindle customers for 20% instead of build their business on good customer service. In fact, I had inquired on the day of the sale about getting an estimate for a new HVAC system for our house. The company never even followed-up on that. As an aside: The company advertised on their web site a Columbus Day 50% off sale on everything in the store. I was told that I was indeed getting the sale price -- hard to believe gas logs (which retail online for about $500) would normally be priced at Cyrpus at $7000.

Two techs came out, got the AC unit going, and were gone within 30 minutes total. The unit tripped back off again within two hours. They charged close to $600 for the repair. No estimate first, no discussion, they just came up with a bill. But since it was WORKING (or seemed to be) we went with it. When we called them back after it failed, they immediately said, ?You need a new AC unit?? and that was the end of it. They would not come back out although their techs said at the time their work was good for 30 days. Called in two other companies to get estimates for a new system. Both said separately that the parts installed by Cyprus were for kicking on the unit *for testing only*. When it tripped off, they should have been removed. However Cyprus didn?t wait for that ? they installed and ran KNOWING a new system was needed. Both companies also said the installed parts were about $40, not $587. After much discussion back and forth with no resolution, we filed a dispute with our credit card company and won the case, we were refunded the total amount.

It went very well. I was sure that we were going to have to get a new furnace. My Insurance was not going to cover it because the water damage was not covered. I could not beleive that Cyprus tech was able to take apart the furnace and make all the necessary repairs. Great work. They saved me alot of money. The technician was very friendly and knowlegable. I have been using this company for many years and will use many, many times in the future as my house is very old. Great work!

Another company had told me it was impossible to run the gas line, so I was dubious when they said it would be easy. Apparently it was easy, the job was accomplished in less than a day. I have an oversize fireplace opening, so it did take longer to get the glass front for it, but it came in when they said it would, They were clean, polite, and I would recommend them highly.

We had been to Cyprus several times, and finally decided on a fireplace and gas log set. We informed the salesman that we had an old house, with very uneven floors. He assured us that the company had installed many fireplaces in such conditions and that it wouldn't be a problem. The installation for the firebox, logs and gas line went smoothly. The mantle was delayed, first because the stain we had chosen was no longer available, then the mantle had to be reordered because it was damaged. Once the mantle arrived, the installation went smoothly, until the marble surround installation. The first go round, someone had mis-measured. The second order had a cracked piece. The third order, due to the unevenness of the floor, had to have the top header piece re-cut. This resulted in a 1/4 to 1/2 inch gap between the left vertical piece and the header. When I called the company to ask that this be corrected, I was first told that a new marble vertical piece of the correct dimension would be ordered. I then got a call saying no, no new piece would be ordered, that someone would be out to remove the vertical piece, and reposition it so that the large gap would be at the bottom. It would then be up to me to disguise it somehow! When I told them that this was not acceptable, and that they either should correct it, or refund my money for the marble, I was told to take their offer or leave it. So I had the piece repositioned, but had to buy tiles, have them cut, and adhered to hide the gap. We love the fireplace, but I will never deal with Cyprus again.

The workmen were arguing with each other throughout the service. One was very unhappy to be working that day and expressed as much. I asked if they were going to clean out bathroom exhaust fans; they just stated they don't do that. I also expected they would clean the gas heater. I would have liked better explanation of what they were going to do. One of the workmen was a bit more helpful. They ended up taking paint off a ceiling moulding and off the railing of a staircase when using the vacuum tube; I think being less rough and more careful would have prevented this. They also left quite a bit of dirt, dust and paint chips for me to clean up.

Price for maintenance was on the high side (quotes I got ranged from $135-250). Receptionist was friendly and helpful and transferred me to one of the service staff for more specific questions. Person was friendly and helpful, but a red flag went up when he talked about how they would light the pilot light for me as if it were a rare profession skill (even a klutz like me knows how to turn a knob and press and button). So I double checked them on a rating site and found that they had very mixed reviews, some very positive, some extremely negative. I canceled the appointment, but inquired if they sold the replacement logs only (seems like when you say "gas logs," it refers to the entire unit with the burner assembly, but I just needed the logs only). Person on phone told me that it would cost $500-600 because anytime you change anything to a gas fireplace you have to have your local county come do an inspection. I don't know the rules, but this doesn't seem right -- I just wanted some new fake pieces of wood. I have since learned that there is some care involved in this -- you have to get the proper logs for the kind of burner that you already have, but it costs closer to $50-100.
Description of Work: Called for estimate for gas fireplace cleaning and maintenance ($230), and for price of replacement logs only without burner or other parts ($500).

The installers said that they didn't do digging and we should get a decking company in to lift the deck, dig a channel and then call them back. After a phone call to the office they installed the gas line completely above the deck and did a very poor job of finishing the brickwork etc. The gas logs did not work. After calls to the management, they came back and grudgingly lifted some of the deck to conceal part of the gas line. They fixed some of the shoddy finishing (damaging a piece of siding in the process) but the second fire was also defective so they returned on a third day with a third gas log set which did work. After more complaints they sent Ray (the installer they send to "situations") who said that he would have brought the pipe around they edge of the deck but given the current situation would now recommend that they box in the pipe above the deck and fix the siding. We were informed that the boxing would cost us $1000 and that they would not mend the siding they broke.
Description of Work: A vent-free gas logs system was installed. Gas pipe was fed from the meter outside the house and in through the chimney breast. We took photos of the outside of our house and deck to the showroom.

I had a good conversation with the gent who answered the phone and he was very responsive and helpful. He quoted a price of $98 and $75 for each additional half hour. They called the night before and again in the morning and arrived within the time frame specified. Francisco was courteous and professional and did a good job cleaning and inspecting the fireplace, and keeping things clean. Since we had recently moved into this home, he was happy to explain the mechanisms. Francisco and his helper were here for 55 minutes. The bill totaled $262.50. (including $12.50 tax on the service.) When questioned about the higher than expected bill, Francisco explained that the $98 was just to arrive at the home and then all additional half hours were at the $75 rate. Later, upon following up with the office, we discovered that the charge of tax on the service was incorrect. (we had inadvertently only written our check for $250 anyway so we did not require a refund.)

The installation was done in a professional manner. However, the dispatcher for Cyprus could not get anything right. Calls were not returned, appointments were not made according to instructions, and this resulted in lost time waiting for both the installers and myself. Also, the markup on the remote control was outrageous: three times what the cost is as available over the internet from the manufacturer.

Peter was very responsive to my requests and made it all happen on a Saturday. I called the day prior to verify the time I needed to be at home, but could not get an answer until after 4:30pm. After I called again to verify the time I received a call from Peter stating they could not get my fire logs to work properly in their system checks and would be upgrading my gas logs to ensure I was able to have my installation as planned. I was thrilled, however, when the technician came he informed me my unit was much smaller than expected and they would need to get a smaller log set. All in all, the job took 2.5 hours and they are working great.

They were very careless bringing the equipment into my home. I was lifting the large dirty hose through my home so it was not dragging on my rugs or the furniture. I checked after they had spent 2 hours here to see how long a job like this should last. I was told 2 weeks. It was a couple of months later we had turned our furnace on and all the black dirt completely covered every single item in our home. We called immediately to gain restitution. They refused to comply. Our home owners insurance is filing judgment against them.

Running the gas lines to the fireplaces entailed snaking gas lines approximately 80 feet through walls and ceiling. One company claimed it couldnt be done without major alterations and suggested I sink a propane tank in my back courtyard. Cyprus made very few holes and did a meticulous job of running the lines. The technicians were knowledgeable, courteous, clean. This is a family company whose president hails from old Europe (Greece) and who is a real craftsman that strives for perfection -- something that most workers today couldnt care less about. The price may seem high, but comparing Eiklor to others on the market is like comparing a Ferrari with a Yugo. Would highly recommend this company if you want the very best. NOTE: I have no analytical way of determining the fairness of the price since I didnt shop around. All I can say is that the results were so outstanding, to me it was worth every penny. To the less discriminating, I would suggest that you shop around.
Description of Work: Ran gas lines to three fireplaces on three different floors and hooked up the most realistic log sets (Eiklor Ultimate5) that I have seen, complete with five burners, glowing cinders, and crackling sound.
