I used Cutting Edge because they had good recommendations and serviced my area. I even referred neighbors and friends to them. I had some two bad experiences that led me to discontinue service: 1. Mowing was infrequent - once I had to call after my lawn had not been mowed for many weeks. They claimed have come out but clearly that wasn't the case by the looks of my lawn. They thought they may have accidentally mowed one of my neighbor's lawn instead of mine and removed the charge for that visit. 2. On a day I was working from home and they came out for a leaf clean up. I had already done much of leaf clean up so they were there for less than 30 minutes. When I got the bill, they noted they were at the property for 2 hours. I alerted them of this and they agreed to revise the bill to their minimum leaf clean-up fee (I think it was an hour). After that they lost my trust and I stopped using them.

I originally got an estimate from Cutting Edge last year when I had a tree come down in my backyard, which wrecked the little landscaping that was there. Kevin came by, listened to what I wanted, and provided a good estimate. I ended up not having the work done then, but came back to it this year. After getting a few other estimates, I ended up going with Cutting Edge due to their responsiveness and estimate cost. It wasn't a huge job, a small patio with some landscaping, but the difference it's made to the house is huge. They started work during the torrential rains and worked to keep me updated with when they could come by. They also offered to put together a shed for me (I bought it at Lowes) and even though it took them a little longer, only charged me an hour. The work is great and I'm hugely pleased with the result. The only minor quibble I have is that it took some prompting to figure out where I would be on the schedule, but apart from that, would definitely recommend them to others.

We contacted them in May and Kevin Schmauder came out and talked to us about our plan. He made several helpful suggestions and we told him we wanted to do a lot of the plantings ourselves but needed help clearing the hill of the sod, amending the soil and preparing it for future plantings. We asked Cutting Edge to give us a quote for the work as well as the two large trees we wanted, a magnolia and a river burch. Kevin arrived on time for our appointment, and the quote was prepared within 2 days. We told them we wanted to wait until early August to do the work and he was fine with that. Overall, they are very professional, helpful and have lots of good suggestions. We would use them in the future.

Cutting Edge Lawn and Landscaping, LLC is very professional and does an excellent job. They clean up afterwards and the only clue that they were there is a well manicured landscape. The only negative I have is that they appear to be very busy and it takes a long time to get on their schedule. When I was on the schedule, the showed up exactly when they said they would.

We contacted this company for an estimate on weekly lawn care. I received a very professional estimate which included the spring clean-up with an option for fall leaf removal. I explained to the owner that we really only wanted the weekly service and was informed it was a package deal. The proposal was in line with other estimates we received and came back first. You know the saying, "the early bird gets the worm." I asked when they could start to know when to let the other lawn service know when to stop. I was told have them finish May and this company would start the first week of June. It was a plan. In the meantime, life happened and we couldn't afford the spring clean up at this time. I emailed the owner to let him know and asked if he was still interested in the weekly service or if he preferred to not just do the weekly. He responded that sure he would still do the weekly but let him know asap when I was ready for spring clean-up and that they wouldn't be responsible for bed upkeep. Fair enough. The problem arose when the first week of June came and went. By Wednesday of the second week I called the owner and asked where I was on the schedule to be told that the schedule just went out and he didn't know where I was on it, but that they would get to my job. Friday comes and still not a peep from the owner, not a crew one and my grass was getting longer and longer. I tried emailing the owner and called the office number several times to only get voicemail. I just wanted to know if I was on the schedule for that day or should I try to borrow a neighbor's lawn mower before they left for the weekend. Buy the time I caught up with the owner it was late in the day and was told that my area had been done before the schedule went out and that they couldn't come back to my area just for me. I get that, what I don't get is why didn't he just tell me that earlier instead of pretending he didn't do the schedule or know where his crews are working at any given time which is what he tried to tell me. That right there concerned me that a company manager/owner doesn't know where to find his crews or where they should be going? Who doesn't have a cell phone these days? My disappointment arose in the lack of honesty that he would go ahead and schedule me for weekly service without the seasonal, was he waiting to schedule me for when I called and said I could afford the spring cleanup? I was also disappointed in the lack of customer service in refusing to give me a date of service even if it was a 2-day window of when to expect them, and then the story changed with each email trying to get me to give them another chance. One email told me I was really on the schedule for the next week and that the crew may show up anyway because he couldn't stop them. WHAT?! I thought is this really the owner/manager? This was not a good foot to start a new relationship with, and I told them to not come at all, before he ever got around to scheduling me in.

My yard was a complete and utter disaster -- a lawn that was more weed than grass, overgrown plantings, weedy flower beds, etc. I have neither the time nor the expertise to deal with it effectively, so I finally decided to find a professional. Kevin replied very promptly to my inquiry on Angie's list. For our initial consultation, in order to minimize the time I had to be away from work, he kindly agreed to call me when he was en route so I could meet him at my home. He arrived a little before I did and was already at work assessing the mess and taking measurements. We surveyed the yard together talked at length about what could be done that would give me the most bang for the buck. Kevin provided excellent and much appreciated advice. A detailed estimate arrived promptly via email. I was also having a new roof put on the house, and Kevin suggested that it would make sense to put off the landscaping until the roof was installed, in order to avoid having the roofing project damage the plantings. He took my deposit, I contacted him when the roofers finished, and he got my project scheduled very quickly. I am thrilled with how well it came out. I have also contracted with this company to maintain the beautiful new landscape, and will have them come back and landscape the side and back yards as soon as my budget allows.

They were very professional. They do exactly what they say they are going to do. We have an issue with some of the plants that didn't survive and they are coming back to replace those for free. They were very good to work with. They turned up when they said they were going to turn up. They did the work with basic amenities. The billing was straight forward and easy. They provided statement of work. I would definitely recommend them. The price was a little bit more than I thought it would be.

I used Cutting Edge Lawn and Landscape after I purchased my house to come in and cleanup a overgrown backyard and do general mulching, remove some unwanted bushes, and yard maintenance. The owner came out and was extremely knowledgeable about plants and what and what not to do. He even told me about a plant I had that was quite expensive and rare. The Spring cleanup went fantastic and we were very pleased (even if it took 2-3 days and they left a pile of mulch in the driveway). However, problems came with the lawn and fall cleanup. The backyard sprouted spurge over the summer and was completely covered in it. Although, I really can't fault them, they didn't offer any real solutions. Fall cleanup was another matter. The contract was for two visits for leaf removal and trim between Oct and Dec. They did come and do the trim of the bushes, but no leaf removal (although the leaves had not started to fall when they did the trim). They never came a second time and I should not have had to call them to schedule (as I didn't have to call them to do the lawn fertilizing or irrigation as they just showed up). I wonder if the reason they never shpwed up was because I paid my bill on the date it was due and not before they due date(?). Now it's January and the leaves are still all over the place. Although the owner knows his stuff, I think they need to be a bit more responsive. UPDATE 2/13/11 A week or so after the above was posted, I came home to find my whole yard cleaned of from leaves and debris. This was done in between two major winter storms in the DC area. Recently I received and invoice from the company with a note of apology and a 0 balance for the cleanup. Because of this commitment to keeping customers happy and following up with what was written here, I am changing the review from a C back to an A and will write to the company to engage them again this season. I believe that Cutting Edge is serious about customer satisfaction and will work hard for customers.

Ultimately, very well. It took a little while to get a reply to my initial inquiry but otherwise they were responsive and performed the work as promised. The work entailed pulling out mostly volunteer shubbery, a tree and lots of ivy. Also removal of an overgrown timbered bench and sandbox area. The work was done in a half-day as promised and the grounds were left in good condition.

Arrived when scheduled to provide estimate (3 times now). Arrived when scheduled to do job (2 times now). All done very well and on time. Owners are genuinely good guys who care about doing a good job, and take pride in their professionalism, honesty, and quality of work. They're reasonably priced, and worth their fees. I'm totally happy with them.

They are currently under contract to do grass cutting and spring cleanup. I paid around $300 for tree removal and stump removal. I pay $35 per week for lawn maintenance. They were very busy. So, it took a while to get the initial quote. They apologized to me and told me that it would take them a while for them to get back to me. However, after that, they have been very responsive. They do very good work. They clean up after themselves. I will continue to use them in the future.

Our previous contractor did a very bad job. Then, we had Cutting Edge come in and do work for us. Their work is beautiful, and they are just everything that we ask for. They asked for our approval as the work progressed and explained to us exactly what they were doing before and after the contract work finished. They showed up on time and worked very hard everyday. They completed the job in good time with attention to every detail. It was done according to standard specifications for patios. They are probably more expensive than other people, but they do so much better quality work. The quality of the work was outstanding.

I am very pleased with this company's services. They are willing to answer any questions or take care of any problems we need taken care of. Their prices are very reasonable. I have always been satisfied with their services.
