After arriving home at 5:30, I realized my furnace was not working. I called several HVAC companies, one said they could come out in 2 days, one in six days, and one could come out around 9:00 that night for $220. Then I called Cosmos. Gus was the only one who asked me to check some basic issues that could be causing the problem. After walking me through the basics, Gus said he'd arrive in about two hours. He actually arrived around 6:45, diagnosed the problem and fixed the furnace. He cleaned the pilot by hand, reinstalled it in less than an hour for less than many of the other HVAC companies were going to charge for the diagnosis.

My apt was on a Wednesday. Unfortunately, there was confusion regarding the date. Once I contacted Gus he apologized and rescheduled the installation for the following Wednesday. The installation went well. They were very professional and timely.

We will definitely use this company again! Prompt, professional, and affordable. They had the best prices and were able to come to our home the soonest out of at least 8 other companies! (It's getting pretty cool out!) George and Samuel were very professional and polite. They advised us that our furnace was 30 years old and that we should keep an eye on it. This company will be the first we call when that time comes.

He switched out the fuse. Now the AC works. When I commented on the very high price, he said he also switched out my filter, with one of the ones I had sitting next to the AC b/c I always switch out my filters regularly. I think he switched out the filter merely to justify the price. The repairman was nice enough but $228 to replace a fuse is almost obscene. I do not recommend this contractor unless you are in a bind. They come on time and can get it fixed, but they are really expensive. You should call around and find someone who offers a fair price.

My brother and his family of 5 kids moved into a house after many years of property being vacant. I found Cosmos Heating and Cooling and they came out on a hot Saturday to evaluate. Although the unit should have been replaced years ago, Gus and George charged it up; cleaned it out and got it running!

I've waited 12 days to write this review to see how the new air conditioner performed in a variety of weather. It is running quietly and doing an excellent job keeping my home cool. The owner did not charge me for his two diagnosis visits at noon on Sept. 3, and on the morning of Sept. 4, and gave me a $300.00 discount for being on Angie's list. I think this new more efficient air conditioner cost less than my old one. The owner was exceptionally nice and very professional. He and his workers did not leave any messes behind them. I will be utilizing his services for my yearly heating and air conditioning checks.

Gus and his son, George, replaced a heat pump / AC unit in our rental property in June of 2012. They did an excellent job for a very fair price. This week, our renters called to say the AC wasn't working. Cosmos came out the following day and found the fan motor had burned out -- a problem they said they've been seeing on this particular Carrrier unit several times this summer. George called and found that his supplier had the part in stock, so he jumped in his van to picked it up. He was back within an hour, installed the new fan and cleaned up debris around the heat pump unit (which is housed in an outside closet). We have been extremely happy with Cosmos service and will continue to use them!

I called Cosmos on a Saturday and Gus was at my house within a few hours to diagnose the problem with my A/C. I had just bought the home and he figured out that the prior owner (contractor) never completed the installation of the A/C unit. Gus ordered a missing part and had someone back out in a few days to install the part, check the lines and turn the system on. I will call Cosmos for all future maintenance and repairs.

I didn't actually use the service because my heater started working again. The gentleman I spoke with was very polite, professional, and cooperative.

s and his Son George had been out last year to service our aging and modestly efficient AC unit. The unit finally expired this month, so it was time for a replacement. They came out to assess the situation and discuss replacement options. We requested estimates on two high efficiency Carrier units (one a 17 SEER and the other a 21 SEER). Long story short, this wasn't a typical new construction installation. We had a unique situation because we needed to move the outside compressor from the backyard up to the rooftop of our row house. We live on Capitol Hill where space is at a premium, and the newer high efficiency units are much larger than our existing unit, and as a result, the new unit(s) couldn't fit in the existing location. After reviewing replacement estimates and estimating monthly cooling costs, we ended up choosing the more costly and efficient unit. As our project moved forward, our choice of Cosmos Heating and Cooling was confirmed at every juncture. They staged the project in sequences, removing old equipment and duct work ahead of the arrival of the new equipment. They were careful to protect the standing seam roof of our row house during the craning and installation of the compressor on our rooftop. They replaced inferior flex duct that serviced the rear of our house with new rigid duct work. Lastly they had to run refrigerant lines within interior wall cavities from our basement up to the rooftop. Cosmos performed all of this work with the utmost professionalism. They even broom swept the job site on their final day. The new equipment has been up and running for only a week, yet we can confidently say that we have a noticeable improvement in humidity control, sound reduction and that the temperature throughout the house is much more even than before. In summary; you might get a lower bid for your project, but I doubt you will find a better overall value than you will get with Cosmos Heating and Cooling. It was truly a pleasure to work with them. Thank you Gus and George.

Two men from Cosmos came on time and were very professional. They inspected our extremely old A/C unit and after testing a few things figured out that our breaker was the problem (the breaker is extremely old as well). They replaced the breaker and the unit started working again. They did, however, say that we should get our unit replaced soon since it is extremely old and very inefficient. Interestingly, our A/C went out again a month and a half later, so I'm not sure if it's the breaker again or if the unit finally gave out, which is why I gave them a B for quality. They gave us a rough estimate for replacing the unit but did not pressure us to do it that day. Overall we were satisfied with Cosmos.

Very reliable. Showed up on time, assessed the issue, fixed the problem, and charged a reasonable price. very satisfied.

He came out and told me that the problem was in the caulking and he did not do that. He left without doing anything and did not resolve my issue. I had to stop using my bathroom because water leaked.

Lasted 1 week and then stopped again.

After determining that the ancient heat pump and aux heater were toast, George, Sam and Alex installed a new high efficiency heat pump and air handler/aux heater. They did a terrific job including rerouting the condensate from a convoluted pipe system that went under the floor boards to the outside with one that went directly into the floor drain next to the furnace unit. They left the furnace closet cleaner than they found it, laid down drop cloths to protect the carpet, and there was no evidence that they had been here except for the nice cool air now coming from the vents.

They came even when we called last minute first to assess the problem and made an additional trip and quickly completed the job.

Would rate them higher than A++++++. I called other companies and no one could handle it the same day. I called in the morning and we scheduled for the afternoon, they then called and asked if we could do it late morning. Fantastic company. They knew what the problem was right away and went to work fixing it. There was also a problem with the filters on our unit and they corrected that problem for us too. They were efficient and clean. The experience was so good that I purchased a maintenance contract from them to help avoid problems in the future. Highly recommned them.

George and Douglas were just fine. They got the job done. We earlier this month bought a new air conditioning unit from Cosmos. It was also a very good experience! That time we had Gus and Douglas. They are very nice people and their prices were low compared to other companies.

They were very prompt and very knowledgable. They were available and local so I didn't really compare prices.

On time on budget very responsive

If there was a rating for A+, I would give it to Cosmos. As everyone is aware, the temps outside have been in the upper 90's and I noticed my a/c unit wasn't cooling like it had in the past. I logged into Angie's list hoping to find someone in my area that could come out to inspect my unit. I took notice of the high ratings for Cosmos and gave them a call. Mr. Cosmos answered and before deciding to come out, he asked me if my filter was clean to save on a house call. I said it was recently changed and he said that he would be happy to come out for a service call and unbelievably, he said that he could be in 30 minutes. He was knowledgeable, friendly and most important, honest about what was going on with my unit. He found a leak and because of where the leak is located, it would be difficult to fix, plus the freon that my unit requires will no longer be available after next year. He put 3lbs of freon and told me that I will need to replace my unit within the next year. I told him that I really didn't have the money to replace the unit now, he understood and told me that the freon he put in would get me through this season and maybe winter. I appreciated his honesty and that he didn't try to push a sale on me. I will definitely call on his this fall when I'm ready to replace my unit.

When I called, they fumbled around with some schedule has if they didn't even know I scheduled a service call at 8:00 AM. No phone call, no apology -- nothing. I cancelled and made another appointment with a different provider.

They were on-time and quick. The routine maintenance was easy and they didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need.

George answered our emergency call personally at around 7PM on a Saturday evening. Before assuming he needed to come out himself, he talked us through some things we could check out and potentially fix ourselves. After determining that there was no "simple fix," he quoted us a completely reasonable emergency rate, and showed up within the hour to diagnose and fix the problem. We are *so* happy we found him, and will definitely call Cosmos in the future!
