Description of Work: Ongoing house-wide project to downsize, declutter, organize, and repurpose space. | |I've been using the services of Call 2 Sisters since fall 2012 when Annabel and her previous partner expertly and efficiently set up an elderly relative's apartment shortly after move-in. They later handled all the details of vacating it when he unexpectedly passed away, which occurred during the Christmas holidays and under a very tight time constraint. I absolutely could not have accomplished it without them. | |Since then, I've hired Annabel and her new partner Joy on numerous occasions, from organizing mountains of paperwork to clearing out a flooded basement in preparation for construction work and space repurposing. It went great!! Annabel and Joy arrive the first day and we sat and talked about what I wanted them to help with and my expectations. They were just so nice. We went to the basement and they took a look around and had a plan. Well, guess what? I always have a plan but my plans for being organized for the past 25 years hadn't worked. So I was more than happy to listen to them. They explained how they thought we should proceed and, like I said, my way hasn't worked so we moved out with the way the Pros do it. My basement looks like a different house. They moved, sorted, purged, swept, saved, wrapped and tossed. And I was there the whole time and was consulted every step of the way. Not a single item that I wanted to keep was tossed. We sorted by name so that when my grown children come to visit, they each have a bin that they can keep or not. But I don't have to store it forever. The ladies took a lunch break on the two days they worked here and thank goodness they did. I need the break more than anyone. I ate my own lunch and put my feet up for a bit and then we got back to work. Several very cool things that the ladies did was sorting trash, recyclables, donations etc. It made me feel very good to know that my reusable items would be put to good use. I did not feel judged or messy. Call2Sisters is wonderful. I will be calling them after the holidays to comeback and organize my upstairs rooms. They couldn't have been nicer, more professional, or fun to work with in getting the job done.

Loved working with Annabelle and Joy. They arrived on time and started with a sit-down discussion of my goals and aspirations for the work to be done. I had a lot of stuff from various work projects that had accumulated over 15 years, so it had gotten overwhelming. They were great in helping me tackle the job in an objective and organized fashion, while also being sensitive to my emotional stress in combing through old memorabilia and in letting things go that needed to move on. We made good progress on the first day, so I brought them back for an additional half day and that gave me enough forward momentum to finish on my own. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing help in getting organized.

My husband gave me their services as a gift since I was having trouble finding the time to get some organization projects done around the house. I have to say that I think he was pleased when they left (because all the Christmas decorations/wrap and some other clutter had all been put away), but I was overall very displeased. I will acknowledge that things were much better organized/put away when they left but the process was painful. They were very poor at hearing my requirements and adapting to my requests. For example, I told them that one of my main goals of the day was for them to share with me strategies for conquering clutter or conducting major organization projects. They never offered my any strategies at all. Also, they have a process (which is not rocket science at all) and they strictly adhere to that process regardless of your preferences. I voiced some concerns and they simply said "just trust the process." They did not concerned with my buy-in into the process or my satisfaction even. I was clearly displeased and they just kept pushing on. Part of their strict philosophy is "like with like." So, my eye drops or nail file that I liked to keep handy in the desk cabinets (which had plenty of room) they said " nope, that belongs in your bathroom." I don't want to go upstairs everytime I need a nail file so I prefer to keep it here and I don't think I should have to argue that. One of the first things they said when they looked around my house was that we needed to put all of our children's toys in the basement, not in the family room. I told them that I liked having them doing puzzles, games, etc. nearby while I cooked versus away in the basement where I couldn't hear them (and my kids wouldn't be happy) but that didn't matter to them. They also didn't even see how tidy our family room area was before making this recommendation. The advice might be necessary for some families, but it was inappropriate for us and just is another example of how they were forcing their ideas on me without learning about us. Another example that really frustrated me was that, unbeknownst to me, they put all of our batteries in a box in the storage space under the stairs in the basement. I had been keeping them in the desk in the kitchen which was of course readily accessible at all times which was important to me. I was quite miffed that they would move those to the dark recesses of my basement just based on their strict philosophy and not my requirements to have stuff accessible! One of the two ladies threw out a lot of stuff in the trash that could have been recycled. Well, yes, I know I can save time by not caring about separating the recycling but it's important to me so I expected it to be important to them. I will say that if you are the type who doesn't care how it gets done, you just want it done, then you might be very happy with this provider. Or, if you are a hoarder and need someone else to just drive the train while you sit there in horror, then they might work for you. But if you are like me and simply need extra help because you don't have the time, I would look elsewhere.
Description of Work: Organized a desk area in a kitchen which included some storage above the desk and several desk drawers. Also helped sort through some clutter on the surface of the desk and several other areas in the kitchen. They also helped put away tons of Christmas wrapping, decorations, etc. that I hadn't gotten around to yet and helped unpack a few boxes left over from a move 7 months ago.

We were sorry to hear of [member name removed]'s dissatisfaction. We care very much if any client is displeased with our services. Unfortunately, when a spouse hires an organizing service as a "gift" to their partner, this often leaves one person very happy with the results and the other very resentful of the implied criticism. The only "philosophy" we have is that each client's situation is unique and that we must respond to each person's needs differently (difficult when both partners are not on the same page themselves). We do recommend clearing out excess, including recycling, repurposing and donating, as a general principle. Our goal is to make the space functional, organized and as welcoming as possible, with the specific needs of the client as a guide.

Full day of organizing. We focused on the target areas that I selected (closets, laundry/storage room, etc). Purging is key, and she helped me arrive at smart decisions on what to keep and what to donate. I like that donation items go directly to her church group for women in need (its easier to let stuff go when you know it will help somebody). She had great tips on how to avoid accumulating too much stuff all over again. Very sensitive to how hard this process can be, and very easy to work with. Great service.

I felt the day went very well and resulted in me feeling less cluttered in my head as well as my house. When i can afford the time and the service, i plan to ask these sisters to come back and help me tackle additional areas of my house.
Description of Work: The 2 sisters helped me sort through numerous bins, making decisions about tossing or keeping, and putting items into distinct "piles". There aren't enough superlatives to describe my positive experience with Call2Sisters. I was faced with a closet that was jam-packed with boxes and materials, most of which had been stored there for the past 8 years, and with a home office that was perpetually so messy that it was difficult to walk around in there, let alone do work. My previous attempts at organization were fleeting and the task of setting things right in the closet and office seemed totally overwhelming. I researched several similar businesses, but chose Call2Sisters because of their personal approach and their membership in the National Association of Professional Organizers. I contacted them by e-mail and received an immediate response, and was able to secure an appointment quickly. On the appointed Saturday, Annabel and Terry arrived bright and early, armed with bags and other supplies. While we shared tea, we discussed my goals and needs, which were both immediate organization but also down-sizing in preparation for relocating sometime in the next year. This goal-setting phase is so important in determining the work focus. We then began work, with Annabel and Terry digging out items and presenting them to me to determine exactly what should be done with each thing. We worked steadily until a lunch break, when they instructed me to truly rest and relax since the psychic energy needed to part with many possessions at one time can take a toll. Throughout the process they asked specific questions that helped me clarify my decisions and they were always sensitive to my ambivalence or need to keep certain items, especially those with sentimental value. I can highly recommend this process to anyone who is down-sizing or especially to those who are helping parents down-size a lifetime of possessions. We continued work in the afternoon and even when my energy began to flag, they contiued to encourage me to move along to the finish. The transformation was simply amazing with mountains of items removed, recycled or readied for donation. I especially appreciated their taking items to charitable organizations and providing me a receipt later. I cannot tell you the great sense of relief and accomplishment when I looked around my newly reclaimed space. I would never have been able to achieve this result without the help of Call2Sisters. And, I plan to use their services again as I prepare to re-locate. They are absolutely wonderful!

Annabel and Terry are so upbeat and so supportive as they help you to clean out clutter and organize the things you want to keep. I picked their company because I had 15 years of clutter to deal with and I had just had surgery and needed help. I thought two people would be able to deal better with the mess. I am so glad I picked them. In addition to being very professional and clear minded about where to put things, they don't make any judgements about how you actually live in your house. It doesn't have to be picture perfect before they get to you, but they help you make it that way before they leave. The sisters also would not let me lift a thing, they brought things to me and made me comfortable, made sure I drank plenty of water, and made me feel like two friends had come over to help. They also take things away for donating, recycling or trash, so yo don't have to worry about loading up your car. That was a huge help. My rooms are now cleaner than they have ever been and every item has a home. The sisters help you think where is the best place to store an item and help you to put like items together. I was overwhelmed before the sisters came, but now I can use my basement and invite people over without embarrassment. I am so grateful to the sisters for helping me to have the kind of home I always wanted.

Wow! Annabel and Terry are such an amazing tag team. They showed up right on time at 9:30. They took off at lunch with a carload of donations, recycle and who knows (everything whirled past me so fast I hardly remember).Then after lunch they came back and we kept going until it started pouring outside (around 4:30pm) ... a full day! Their rates are very reasonable. They work hard and don't count dropping the stuff off in your time. They work fast too! In the end I got all of the back room of the basement, all the shelves and ALL of the contents of the previously packed workbench area COMPLETELY EMPTIED! EVEN under the STAIRS we managed to get cleared out! What an amazing feat in 4 1/2 hours. Having this workspace cleared and available will let me have a staging area for the next part .. cleaning the basement walkin clothing closet that is packed with stuff. This is the first encouraging event that I have experienced since I decided to put this house up for sale.
Description of Work: This was my first time trying the services of an organizer. Since I consider myself to be organized, I was unsure how much I would learn. But I desparately need help as I am getting ready to put the house up for sale after 25+ years I wanted to go over the whole house plan, then start in the basement to clear storage for home contents that I will be packing up while the house is up for sale. The ladies arrived on time and prepared. All interaction was professional and enjoyable. They took the time to understand my goals for the day, the degree of my attachment to my stuff (in this case, rather low) and my decision-making style (in this case, rapid). After about 10-15 minutes of talk, we dove into the work at hand. They started in one corner and worked they're way around the room, dividing things into keep, donate, or trash. This took nearly 4 hours, with all 3 of us working at it. They hauled away the donations and some shredding in their minivan. As we wrapped up, I picked their brains on how to better organize other areas of my home. Along the way, I learned a lot about how to keep a basement dry and organized. I fully intend to enlist their services again to tackle my shed and kitchen.
Description of Work: Service on 5/5/2012 included organizing the basement storage area of a townhouse. Prior to service, the storage area was a series of messy, mildewy piles of stuff. After the service, less than 1/3 of my belongings remain -- and they are dry and orderly!

Working with Call2Sisters was wonderful overall. They were very professional, a joy to work with, efficient, and, overall, great at what they do! They utilized the time with me very well and gave very sound advice. It was amazing what we got done in the time they were here, and allowed me to tackle the task with ease. They are flexible and experts in dealing with all types of organizing, whether your clutter is hidden (like mine) or visible, in need of organizing once in a while or needed on an ongoing basis. They were definitely worth their cost, and I would recommend them to anyone! They also have other skills, such as "paper" organizing, that I didn't utilize. THEY ARE GREAT!
Description of Work: Call2Sisters (2 sisters) came to my house and helped me organize closets, rooms, drawers, and even the garage! They worked with me to sort (keep, give away, throw away) items and return the items neatly back to their rightful place. For the items I chose to give away/donate, they meticulously documented the items, and after they left the house, for no extra cost per hour, they hauled away the items, donated the items, and brought back to me a receipt along with a typed list of items that I donated (I donated approximately 1,300 separate items). The two sisters came in and evaluated my "situation" (clutter) asked what I wanted to accomplish, then they laid out a plan to accomplish whatI wanted. They brought supplies they needed and we got right down to business. No wasted time with these two sisters! They are friendly and professional. It was wonderful. They came on time, they worked the whole time, they kept me focused on making decisions about what to keep or discard. They hauled away recycleables and clothing to be donated (and brought me a donation receipt). They are not judgemental like my family was and provide encouragement about what I'm able to get done myself.
Description of Work: I started with the ladies in March 2011 to get my life back under control. I had three goals: Organize my financial records so I could prepare and file three years worth of taxes. Get my kitchen so that I could use it to prepare food for my special diet. Organize my bedroom and clothing so that the room was more restfull and I could find outfits in the morning. The place was in very bad disarray and needed to be organized before I could get anyone in to do a real thorough cleaning -- that eventually took three days with a recommended cleaning service. We've met all my original goals and I now have them come one a month to help with sorting and deciding which things I no longer need.

Call 2 Sisters were wonderful! We had an in-depth first meeting at my folks' home, and shortly thereafter received their expert recommendations and estimate for tackling this somewhat painful and certainly overwhelming task of going through everything my parents had accumulated in their 35 plus years in their home. I was impressed by their experience and professionalism, and the speed in which everything was accomplished. We had about one month to sort through everything, and move my parents to their new home. It was all done in time, thanks to the superb knowledge, and organizational skills of Call 2 Sisters. I know I would not have been able to sort through the household items, move my parents, and get their house ready to sell if it had not been for them. After this experience, I plan to use this company to downsize my own home. If you are facing a similar situation with elderly parents, or would simply like to downsize your home, I strongly recommend using Call 2 Sisters.
