Installation team didn't show. Salesmen very helpful in making a sale, but then it's up to the customer to follow up to ensure delivery and installation. Also customer blamed for no show. Jason was extremely rude over the phone, which closely mirrors the other yelp review. Go somewhere else. Save yourself!!!

We purchased a dish washer from Bray & Scarff on January 20, 2020. It was delivered and installed on February 13, 2020. We spent extra money to have a “TimeLight” that shines the amount of time remaining in the cycle right on the floor so you know exactly when your dishes will be done. This was working when the installers left, but as soon as we opened the DW door, it no longer worked. We called the store to report this – after several calls and no returns, we went to the store to report this. We were told that they would have this issue looked at by end of day. After again no calls back, we again called the Bray & Scarff manager to report this issue and have it corrected. Finally, they did agree to have their installation team come again and correct the TimeLight issue. Following two additional installation service calls, the Timelight issue had still not been resolved. Based on this total lack of satisfaction, on March 20, 2020, we called our Credit Card and reported this issue. They immediately contacted Bray & Scarff regarding the dispute. On May 8, 2020, we were notified by our Credit Card company that Bray & Scarff had reported that the installation had been completed satisfactorily and that this was now a warranty issue since it was 90 days out from purchase. At this point we called Bosch (the DW manufacturer) and they immediately came out and rectified the issue. The repairman said that it indeed had been installed improperly. The DW now works properly. The bottom line is – we purchase a wonderful DW, but should never had purchased it from Bray & Scarff

We paid Bray and Scarff $300 for an extended warranty on our JennAir dishwasher. This spring the dishwasher began failing to complete its cycle; it stayed in the wash part of the cycle indefinitely without ever stopping. Between May and September B&S sent repairmen out 7 times without ever solving the problem. Each time they told us a replacement part was needed we had to wait weeks for them to order and receive it. Most recently we waited 5 weeks for them to order and install a heater, but when he came to install it the repairman said the old heater worked fine. We are getting a new dishwasher and will never deal with B&S again.

Bruce was the service guy. He was fabulous. He poked around. We wasn't sure what was wrong with the dishwasher. He poked around. He ordered the part, and it took forever to get in. That was not Bruce's fault. I am not sure if the part had not actually been order, or what was going on. It took six to seven week to come in. Bruce himself was wonderful. He explained everything. When he was poking around, trying to figure out what was wrong with the motor, once he installed the motor, he discovered the control panel was faulty. The motor wasn't under warranty, but the control panel was. So, he ordered a new control panel, and came out for a third time to fix that as well. He was very good. Repairs did not take that long at all. He knew exactly what he was doing. The part should have been there. I was told ten days. It kept being ten more days, ten more days, until it was over a month. One of the things, the quality of the dishwasher was worth repairing, but it was a very expensive repair. Bruce was fabulous. Scheduling an appointment wasn't a problem, but it was the delay that was the problem.

I like the fact that Bray and Scarf has a lot of appliances on displayed. That I could go see, what they looked. How they looked. If they were organized the way I wanted the dishwasher organized. Not bad. I am one of those people who want to look at all those things, and then want to talk to the salesperson explained that stuff. They were nice. They did it in that order, instead of salesman first, then go look at it. Great. That took no time in all.

Ordered a microwave from the Fairfax store. They sent it to the Alexandria store for pick up. We never received a call saying it was in. When I called to ask the salesman was short and said she called to see if it was here on Friday. I am not a female and no one else from our house called them because the salesman in Fairfax said the Alexandria store would call us when they had the microwave. When I went to pick it up the 2 salesmen told me different things. Then one sales man told me to hurry up because I was moving too slow for him. At the time I was the only customer in the store. They had the best price on the microwave but I hate having to deal with them. The microwave was dented on one side when we unpacked it. It is really, really unpleasant dealing with the people in the Alexandria store.

I recommend Sam. He is very professional and went beyond expectations to make sure that everything arrived on time. He helped me with the warranties and he was just very helpful all around. He is now the manager at the Arlington location. He was very helpful with the selection of products. I did a lot of research and I'm very happy with my selections. There were some extra things he did at the end that he really exceeded expectations to satisfy our needs.

I almost ordered the dishwasher from Home Depot but found out they wouldn't handle a hard-wired appliance, only plug-ins (beware of this limitation when ordering from them!). So I called Bray and Scarff and handled the entire transaction on the phone with the salesman, Al, who was quite helpful. They delivered a dishwasher only to find that it did not fit in the available space! The handle protruded from the front and blocked a drawer from opening. Fortunately, the deliveryman checked first and so the DW was not brought inside or uncrated. Turns out a dimension on the Internet for this model was incorrect by 2 inches, and that turned out to be critical. i called Al again, and he helped me identify a similar model that did not have the protruding handle. The new model was a bit different but adequate for what I wanted. So they delivered the second DW, removed the old one and installed the new, hard-wiring the appliance. The deliveryman/installer did an efficient, clean job. I was surprised that the price at this small dealer (they design kitchens, etc) was competitive with Home Depot. Their installation charge was a bit higher, but it did require hard-wiring instead of just inserting a plug into a socket. A rebate will remove the delivery charge, $15 to take the old DW away is quite reasonable. I was extremely pleased with the knowledge and service provided by Al and the installer and I will likely deal with them again in the future when I need new appliances.

The first interaction with Bray and Scarf, was assisting the owner of a property who was out of town and the repair was scheduled during their trip. I offered to meet the repairman. A day was specified but no time. I needed 2 hours notice, the repairman gave an hour notice, he was at the house and could not wait. OK, so I tried to reschedule, and arranged so I could be at the property with 5 minutes notice. I received a call for payment in advance or they would not go to the property. This was not what was arranged with the owner, so I did not have the authority to negotiate payment. They said they wouldn't show up and since the repairman was on the way we'd have to reschedule AGAIN. I asked for a manager to call me. No call. It seemed like they weren't trying to make this work, but were perfectly happy to be rid of the service call. Maybe it was just me...except.. The second experience was at a home inspection that found no anti-tip bracket on a new stove that had been installed by Bray and Scarf. The seller (who is meticulous) told me they asked appliance installer directly if the anti-tip bracket was installed and told yes. Most people don't know what an anti-tip bracket even is, so for the seller to know what it was an tell me it was installed (ahead of time), was impressive. Weren't we all surprised when the home inspector found no anti-tip bracket and the seller had to pay someone else to install one.
Description of Work: 2 experiences with Bray and Scarf from the service end of the transaction, neither were satisfying. The first was a hard time getting a scheduling time with 2 hours notice so I could be there. The 2nd was for workmanship discovered years after installation that they said they did, but did not (install an anti-tip bracket on a stove).

Was ok in the beginning, but then they started not showing up and it took them way longer then the time we agreed upon when we signed the contract. Appliance people broke the stove twice while fixing the original problems and that took another couple of months to get fixed. I'm glad I owed them a few hundred dollars on the balance or else they never would have come back. I would run the other way as fast as you can....

The salesperson was very helpful in informing me of the various features and prices for Bosch dishwashers. He helped me with all of the paper work. The only glitch was that their computer system was not working at first, but finally started working before I left the store, so the purchase could be completed. Installation was scheduled promptly. The installer was very professional and helped us identify a nick in the stainless steel front. He called in the problem and ordered a replacement front panel. The panel was delivered and installed within 2 weeks. We are very satisfied with the appliance.

Description of Work: I had my Sub-zero refrigerator repaired. I described the problem: the refrigerator door seal had separated from the door however Bray and Scarf found it necessary to send a repairman to diagnose the problem. I was charged $99.00 for the "trip fee". The repairman (John) explained that they would have to order the part. A week later the repair department called me to inquire if I wanted to order the part and required a $50 deposit. During that call I scheduled an appointment for the repair on January 20, 2012 between 1 and 5:00 PM. The repairman didn't come so I called the repair office at 5:30pm. We saw a Bray and Scarf truck parked across the street from our house after 5:00 pm however he never came to the house. When he left, I immediately called the office, but they were closed. I followed up with a call on January 24, 2012 to find out why the repair man didn't come as scheduled on January 20, 2012. The repair office had no idea and indicated they would have to check with John. John called me back and said the part had not come in. I explained that I had received a call from Bray and Scarf on January 19 confirming our January 20th appointment. We rescheduled for January 24, 2012 between 3:00 and 6:00pm. The repairman did come on the 24th however the service I received was not that representing good customer service. For at least 2/3 of the time that he was there, he conducted personal business on his cell phone. Throughout his stay he knocked my personal belongs over. He replaced the refrigerator door seal and when I indicated the doors were not level he simply stated it would level with time. He also cleaned my condenser however I had to supply the vacuum cleaner. The upper part of the refrigerator was dirty and during the cleaning process dirt etc. fell on the floor and counter tops. The repairman did not clean up the dirt either on the kitchen floor or counter tops.

The entire experience was one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a contractor. I cannot in good faith recommend this company to anyone.
Description of Work: Our GE profile refrigerator purchased in March of 2009 from Bray and Scarf stopped cooling on Saturday November 19, 2011. It is a long story but we are now 2 months and 4 service visits later and our refrigerator is still not repaired. Bascially I have come to determine that they have one refrigerator specialists who only works in Va on Tuesdays and Thursdays. They do not stock any parts. All parts take 7 to 10 days to order and only once the part is received do they call you to schedule the appointment. When they call to schedule the appointment they will not guarantee you a time (mornning or aftrernoon) that they will be there. You only find out the afternoon of the day before the visit whethet or not your appointment will be in the morning or the afternoon. IMy expereience seems to be consistent with other reports on the internet where people complain about the number of service calls , the untrained repair people and the rude customer service. The only reason we ever called them is because we purchased an extended warranty and we thought we were dealing with a local company who cared about their customers.

We didn’t have to pay anything because it was under warranty. We used them because we bought the freezer from them this summer. We had to wait a few days for the diagnosis and a week for the part which wasn't fantastic. We will probably use them again, but we are more interested in using them for buying instead of fixing.

We called the company because they installed the appliance; we had no prior experience with them. The diagnosis was a broken part. Ordering the part took 1 week and when it was installed it leaked badly, causing ceiling damage with water pouring from a hose and the part itself. After multiple visits from a repair person, the part was finally fixed. Our experience was one of unprofessionalism, poor scheduling, and poor customer service.

Description of Work: I tried to buy a $2500 cooktop and an $800 hood. The people from the service department came to my house and measured and pronounced that it would be "ugly" to have to patch a crack that would happen due to size issues. I canceled the sale. But I called my handyman who came and he said it was an easy matter to lower the cabinet 1/2 inch and it would look fine. It's my opinion that the service people who come to measure to facilitate a sale have no motivations therefore they are unpleasant and unresponsive and just don't try to make a difficult (or not) situation work. Too bad for the sales men - they lose sales. and to bad for the company too.

I will never use them again for anything. I went to get a new kitchen range with a microwave above it. They came separately and I had to take off work for two days for it. Then the guys that delivered them, didn't installed them. On top of that, they were damaged when they were arrived. So I had to send them back and order new ones. I was forced to take 6 days off of work just to deal with everything, when it should of taken hours. Then when I called to complain, they got very snobby on the phone. It was unprofessional, non responsive, and the quality was poor. The people that delivered them were incompetent because they brought damaged good and the people that installed it weren't even able to properly install it and it wasn't even a gas range, it was electric. I will never go to them again.

Called for repairs under extended warranty I purchased and was told that a repairman would call me the morning he was going to come out between 8am and 10am to tell me when in the day he would be there. This necessitated being home the whole day to wait for first the call and then the appearance of the man. Despite being told what needed replacement, the man came with no parts. He spent about 10 minutes at my house diagnosing the problem that I described on the phone and said Bray and Scarf would call when parts were in. I was called on a Monday to say parts were in and the repairman would call on Friday between 8am and 10am on Friday to tell me when he was coming. Another whole day to wait for the call and then the repairman. He called at 10:25 and came at 1:30. He only had a new lint filter which could easily have been mailed. He said the washing machine parts were not in yet. I wondered why he would waste my whole day to deliver a part that was simply a cosmetic repair and not have the parts for the job that actually needed to be done. He said I would need to talk to the home office. The home office apologized but now we will need to spend/waste another whole day waiting for this repairman. Three full days off work to get something simple repaired is unacceptable. Bray and Scarf needs to provide a window to wait for their repairman ahead of time so people can plan their work schedule without forfeiting days off work. They should never have you waste a whole day waiting for a part to be delivered that could be mailed.

They were prompt when they installed the appliances in my kitchen. They did all this in a day and a half, but came back the next day to put in the backslash. They were on time and had their plumber come over and do the plumbing work. They are basically a one-stop shop. They do everything, even redesign a kitchen completely. I would use them in the future. Some friends of ours have already gone and used them too.
Description of Work: The appliance and kitchen specialist installed new kitchen appliances that included a microwave, a stove, and a dishwasher, and also installed a granite counter top and a backslash.
