I have used Becker electric for three or four different homes over the last 13 years.. This was the most recent work and clearly the most significant. I stay with Becker because i am always happy and confident in the work. The office staff is responsive, particularly Linda and Peter. The field teams do a great job and are totally transparent in what needs to be done and why and what can wait. Marc headed up the work I had done on the new house. It amounted to about three days of work on site. He and his team did a great job and I appreciate all the time and extra effort he tool to carefully explain complex questions to someone unfamiliar with the technical aspects of what had to be done. He was a pleasure to work with. The bill was pretty big but that represents the sheer amount of work I had done; I definately feel I got good value for the money and have no hesitation in recommending them or using them again, as the need arises. They arrived a little before the appointment time. They were professional, courteous, and gave me a full explanation of everything they did. I will use them again, for sure.

This is the third time I've used Becker for electrical jobs and each time they've been great. They are a bit old school, but I've never been dissatisfied with price or the work. I will continue to use them for electrical jobs around the house.

Never responsed to my request for a proposal/estimate.

They were easy to book, very prompt and really professional. I didn't have a piece that was needed and he came back the next day. He worked with my schedule to come back to finish the project the next day. The electrician that came was very knowledgeable and he was really professional.

They were very good and did some work that was needed without charging extra. Very happy with the work they did for us. They did quality work. They were here when they said they would and they were quite professional in their work.

The job was completed as I had hoped.

We have used Becker Electric for a variety of jobs over the last several years, primarily to replace light fixtures but also to give an overall assessment of the wiring in a 1948 single-family house. The experience for the job reviewed here was typical of our encounters with Becker: the front office returned our call promptly and scheduled us for the first appointment of the day (the most convenient time for us) within a week. The team of two electricians showed up exactly on time, asked questions about our preferences where there were options, and then completed the work quickly and efficiently. They left the workspace clean and tidy, and were additionally considerate of the small children in the household. Becker's policy of sending teams of two on each job has relevance for their prices. However, we decided that their reliability, knowledge of the older houses in the Alexandria/Arlington area, and quality of work make the services worth the cost.

The Becker team arrived promptly and immediately got to work replacing outdated outlets in several rooms and performing extensive troubleshooting of our 16-year-old outdoor landscape low-voltage lighting system. One entire circuit of the outdoor lighting did not work and Scott did a great job of repairing loose connections, reconnecting cut wires, retrieving a lost transformer cover, and getting all the nonworking lights in both circuits operational. He even found a lost underwater light fixture in the mud, cleaned it up, and got it working again. We were delighted with the quality of the work and would definitely use them again.

They were excellent. They were highly skilled. They did very good work. They cleaned up well. They did not leave a big mess although they did not do anything that would create a big mess.

Work to be done: replace under cabinet lights in kitchen, install 3 GFIC outlets in kitchen and one in bathroom; Install 3-way switch for hall lights. Replace light fixtures in kitchen and dining room. Estimator came on time. Very nice gentleman. We had already received one estimate which had proposed LED lights for under the cabinet. Becker estimator explained what LED lights install would entail and I decided that wasn't what I wanted (in retrospect I think that was a mistake - the under-cabinet lights Becker installed are just as hot as the old fluorescent lights were. Not Becker's fault of course - my choice.) We wanted the overhead light fixtures in the kitchen and dining room changed to ones that would give more light and be easy to access to change the light bulbs. We were told to go to a light supply store and pick out the fixtures and Becker would install them @$45 per fixture. We explained that we knew nothing about light fixtures and asked if they could recommend fixtures and provide them and install. They said they didn't do that sort of thing. So we dropped that. Appointment was made for the work to be done. The gentlemen were on time. They worked quickly and efficiently. No problems, no complaints. After they left we realized we had no idea how to access the light bulbs or what kind of bulbs were used. I called the office and the gentleman quickly came back and showed us how to access the bulbs and left us an empty bulb box so we would know what to buy. that was nice but I think they should have showed us all of that before they left. But I'm thankful for small favors. Prior to moving back to this area we had owned a house in Philadelphia and had extensive electrical work done on it - in every case our electrician there would explain everything in detail, offer solutions and options including "decorative" elements. They provided the fixtures and installed them. We had expected the same kind of services in this area - we were wrong it seems. We need more work done on our condo and I do not have high hopes to find the level of personal service from skilled trades people here that we had in Philadelphia. Over all - the service from Becker was efficient, professional, the work done of good quality (as far as we can tell), all staff members are friendly and polite, pricing comparable to others in the area. So, yes I would recommend them.

Scott and Josh arrived at eactly the time promised, walked in and began working on my "to do" list. Each worked on a different task-install exhaust fan, install lighting fixtures, replace dryer receptical, add new dryer plug to old dryer,etc. The rate of $185 for the first hour for two men was a real bargain because each did a different task. There was no standing around and kibitzing. The work was completed in an hour and half with the total bill coming to one third what was quoted by another company. I would definitly recommend Becker Electric and will use them again when necessary.

Excellent, they exceeded my expectations in how efficient they were and their efforts to access difficult to access locations and clean-up their work space. They called and asked if they could show up early; the two staff were courteous and knowlegeable about what I wanted to accomplish when they arrived at the house. They provided a good explanation on options for installation for the outdoor GFCI outlets. They will be the first company I call for any future electrical needs.

Newly-purchased washer was installed about 8:30 in the morning. Test cycle revealed no problems. After installer left, I started to run washer and noticed that all of my house lights were flickering during the agitation and spin cycles. Called appliance store. After a series of transfers and followup calls, a tech was sent to the house. Tech determined that appliance was not malfunctioning. However, he could not tell me if it was safe for me to operate the washer. He advised me that I needed to call an electrician.. At this point, I was getting frustrated. I had no idea who to contact I did not want to call the same electrician (from a large company) who had serviced a previous problem. I checked my most recent Angie's List edition and called Becker Electric. I explained the problem to the person who answered the phone, and she said she could send someone out at 7:30 the folowing morning. The next day, at 7:30, a team of two electricians came to the house. They listened to the problem desciption, ran a heavy-duty wash cycle and noted the flickering lights. To make a long story short, after examining the wires and outlets, they checked the house's central electrical panel. They tightened some contacts, and the flickering stopped. They waited through the wash cycle to make sure that everything was all right before they left, and told us to call immediately if there were any more problems. Throughout the whole procedure, they explained what they were doing and why they were doing it. Both team members were patient and pleasant, and they even made friends with our old dog.

We have been replacing appliances in our kitchen over the past 2 years. The appliances are original to our early 80's house. We replaced the the fridge first, and then the dishwasher. Finally, our electric single unit, double-oven range finished dying a very slow death. The tricky part with the oven is that manufacturers no longer make single-unit, double-oven electric ranges. An additional kink is that the builders did not anticipate the extinction of the ovens and install an outlet above the stove -- so we have to add a circuit in the upper cabinet before we can have the new stove and ventilation installed. Just before the holidays I contacted Becker Electric and received friendly and courteous service from the outset. I was able to have someone come out the same week to give an estimate -- Mike was awesome! When I asked him about a problem we'd had over the years with light bulbs in the kitchen spontaneously blowing after a few weeks, he assessed the problem (kids jumping up and down on the floor above the kitchen) and gave tips on how to remedy the problem. (We LOVE the LED bulbs...expensive, but less that it costs us to constantly replace traditional bulbs.) I received a written estimate by mail, and waited until after the holidays to set up the installation of the circuit. The install was smooth and without incident. Scott and his partner came on-time and prepared to work -- they were personable and pleasant. They explained the process and what our options were for having the work completed and worked quickly and efficiently. After finishing the installation, I was shown where to find the breaker for the new outlet on the circuit board and given tips on how to proceed with the stove and ventilation install. Rough drywall patches were completed as needed and work areas were left clean. With this one big step out of the way, we can continue with our stove and ventilation install -- baked goods soon!! Overall great experience -- Becker Electric will be my go-to company for electric work in the future.

We have recently purchased an older home and are in the middle of several repairs and several contractors. I was very pleased with Becker Electric from the start. The scheduler was professional and knowledgeable about the issue I wanted fixed; he was clear on what some of the issues may be. I was able to have someone come over to the house the next day. In converting the two-prong outlets to three-prong outlets, it could have either been a quick, easy fix (grounding to the box) or expensive (running new wiring). Luckily, the boxes were grounded and the electricians were able to quickly make the changes. Helpfully, they also suggested changing aging light switches, resulting in only a small increase in the price due to supplies. Very helpful and friendly; I'll hire them again when I need more electrical work done.

Called on 1/2/2013 to make appointment for 1/4/2013. Appointment was for between 10 am and 1 pm. Got a call about 9 am asking if they could come earlier because they had a cancellation. I said OK. They got here about 9:15 and were finished by 10:30. They needed two workers to hang heavy new chandelier, which I anticipated. They were polite, professional, quiet and clean. I had used this company twice before and would definitely use them again. They know what they're doing with old houses, are very business-like, and charge fair prices.

I appreciated that when I called during normal business hours to make an appointment, Becker Electric had staff who cover the phones and make appointments, so my call was answered immediately and I made an appointment right then. I had previously called another electrician during normal business hours, but he didn't have a receptionist and didn't return my call after 24 hours, so that's when I called Becker. Becker showed up on time and did the requested work efficiently and professionally. I'd use them again, and would recommend them based on my experience.

Very complicated and difficult installation done perfectly and beyond expectation. The picture spot light wiring was fed through from the attic eliminated need for plastering and repainting 12 feet up in living room. Also were able to cleverly tap an unused switch by the front door, thereby eliminating the need for an unsightly switch above the fireplace mantle. The grand piano's music desk was expertly located on the ceiling and perfectly aimed. The electricians' performance in these two complicated assignements was outstanding. I am planning to use them again for similar work as soon as I locate the appropriate lighting fixtures at Dulles Electric, where the sales manger knows his stock.

The electrician and his assistant were wonderful. They were always on time, worked quickly and efficiently, and completed everything as promised. They were super neat and tidy and incredibly professional in explaining what they did and the next steps. I have used Becker Electric for smaller projects, but this was the first big project I hired them for and they did not disappoint. I am 100% satisfied with their work and recommend them enthusiastically to anyone who asks for a good electrician.

I had been told that Mike would come out some time in the afternoon. He finished his morning jobs early and called me at 11:30 a.m. to see if he could come by early which was great. He quickly figured out that I had not reset the correct switch in the circuit breaker to get my lights back on (I have now clearly marked which switch controls these lights so I can reset it myself if it happens again). He also quickly figured out that the light bulb for my kitchen light needed to be twisted into the fixture to get it to work, not just put in. I felt kind of frustrated that I had been unable to figure out both fixes myself, but I was very happy to have them both fixed. And when I got the bill and it was under $100, I could not feel bad.

Wonderful. They arrived early. Did the work very quickly. And voluntarily gave me a senior discount.
