Becker was highly recommended by close friends who had done a lot of research. The quote was reasonable, they were timely and handled everything efficiently -- except the switches they needed for the wall sconces weren't available, so they sent me out to buy them (what I got was too small and my husband had to replace them later). They were very good about adding an additional item to the scope of work and handling it that same visit. They left a bit of a grease smudge on our ceiling near one of the down lights, and later when my husband had to visit the attic he found that they had moved some insulation aside to install the ceiling fixtures and never put it back into place. Between the switch issue, the smudge and the insulation not being placed back properly I don't know if we would use them again.

Becker Electric provided a proposal in a timely fashion; however, they only provided one, lump sum (we had requested that the costs be listed by project). After a second request, we received the proposal with the grand total separated into four items. Although they had a good record on Angie's List, their quote seemed high, so we obtained another quote from a different contractor. We used the other contractor whose proposal was 25% lower (the work has been completed and it went very well). One additional issue regarding Becker Electric's proposal is worth mentioning. We expressed a desire to have recessed eyeball lights installed in an angled, vaulted ceiling over our fireplace/mantel. Becker included this in their proposal without any question or discussion. However, the other contractor told us during his initial visit that, given the angle of the ceiling, recessed eyeballs would not provide lighting on the fireplace mantel as we wanted. Alternatively, he said that track lighting would work in this area. We did not want track lighting, so we decided to forego lighting this area. Becker Electric did not advise us that our expressed desire for recessed eyeballs would not work well in this area--they would have just installed it without saying a word.

they were extremely professional. made clean cuts into the wall to bring a connection to a room that did not have one previously. team of 2 were very careful to clean up any mess made and filled any cuts made. they clearly let me know that we'd need to patch the walls (small patches / paint) once they were through, which was expected. i'd use this company again in a heartbeat. i've done this before, and it cost 3x as much for poor workmanship. Becker Electric deserves their great reputation.

Becker offered to have their people show up earlier (7:30 AM) than the earliest appointment time (8:00 AM), which helped minimize the amount of time I had to take off of work. When I awoke (7:00 AM), Becker was already parked outside but waited until 7:30 AM to ring the bell. Needless to say, this 30 min. was appreciated. Becker immediately set to work and identified that 2 of 6 of the under cabinet lights I had bought from Lowes were actually fluorescent, rather than xenon, even though the boxes claimed they were xenon lights just like the others. I lamented having to drive to the Lowes in Alexandria during rush hour to get the correct lights, but I'm glad I did. What a difference the lights made in the kitchen! When I returned from Lowes, it was only another hour and a half before all the work was done. What was remarkable was that they didn't have to make any additional holes in the kitchen to fix electrical mistakes made by a previous contractor. I was immensely grateful with the professionalism and speed in which Becker completed this work. It had been hanging around since before Thanksgiving, and it feels great to have it looking so good thanks to Becker.

Pleasant interaction when I called for an appointment. Given choices of times. Kindly given special consideration for my schedule. Pushed to top of the schedule when someone canceled and I was notified immediately. Was given a heads up call from the electrician in the morning to say he was on his way. He arrived within minutes of the call. Steve was professional, calm and put a drop cloth down to contain dry wall wires, etc. I had other questions about issues with lights and outlets. My questions were listened to and thoughtfully and clearly answered. I was completely satisfied and can not often say that (please refer above to shoddy work done over poor and dangerous work for which I paid twice!).

Everything went well. Original call answered quickly, setup an appointment within a week, came out and reviewed what I needed, they emailed a quote that was priced right for the work and performed the work on time and correctly. Easy to deal with and very professional.

Estimator "Michael S." came out two weeks prior and outlined everything that needed to be done. I thought the price a bit steep after searching for similar estimates on the Web but Angie's List reviews and BBB research convinced us to go with the estimate. Electrician "Scott" came out on day of with an assistant. Scott was none talkative and set to work. Opened panel and was clearly not prepared for the mess that was there. He settled in as the job was going to take longer than expected. He worked quickly, efficiently and steadily for 3-4 hours including going out for some more parts. The assistant kept cleaning and stripping wires and prepping as he called out. When they were finished I did not recognize the panel unit. It was extremely well done and we were more than pleased with the results. I guess we paid for skill and there is no substitute for that with home wiring.

The estimate given over the phone was accurate, the electrician, Steve, was great. Very professional, patient with our pets (our dog really likes him), went through my lengthy checklist with me, answered all questions, arrived on time and was very pleasant to work with. We used Becker Electric before at our old house and will continue to use them here in this house. We have recommended them to one of our neighbors.

Company was prompt and professional providing estimate. We worked out more details through email over time and finally ageed to scope of work and cost. Mark came out for the install and really impressed us with his attitude and professionalism. One thing we really appreciated was him pointing out that there was a hole in the attic wall where sunlight was clearly shining through. Mark is fast. Mark also accommodated an adhoc request to swap out some the switches, outlets and covers as he was finishing up our initial job. As he did this, he used what he had in supply on short notice and we've noticed that a few of the covers not match. The color matches, but they may have slightly different designs (e.g. some have ridges, some don't). We had a couple of issues that we don't think were the work. Our flood light was flickering (seems it was the bulbs), and the timer was not initially programmed properly. Our estimator was a little slow in responding to some of these issues initially, we ended up figuring them out satisfactorily on our own though. The work site was left pretty clean. And we were VERY pleasantly surprised with how few holes were made to install all the new lights, 0 spots to patch the drywall and only a few spots to repaint. Overall, the job was done as expected and under the time they initially estimated.

Michael Summa came to our house, I showed him the work site as well as the blue prints and gave him a verbal and a written description of the work I wanted Becker to do. After the work was defined, Becker promptly responded with a written estimate. I believe Becker's price is competitive but cannot confirm that because I did not get alternate estimates. Why didn't I get competitive bids? In the past Becker has done electrical work for me, I have always been pleased with their work and even if another company came in with a lower bid I wanted Becker to do the work. An unusual feature of this contract is that I supplied all the lighting fixtures, smoke alarms, instant hot water heaters and dimmer switches. As expected Sy and Joshua efficiently and expertly wired the house. Sy suggested mounting one of the lights on the fan, his suggestion was accepted and improved the lighting design. Two light fixtures had to be moved because the doors of a medicine cabinet hit the light fixtures when they were opened. Sy and Joshua moved the light fixtures without additional charges. The Becker staff was polite and efficient. Becker team --- thank you for a job well done.

Great! I was able to get an appointment for the week following my call--on a holiday, no less--and the electrician arrived on time (actually, early) and was really fantastic. Very courteous, despite having to work in the rain to replace the outdoor light and dealing with my dog being very interested in his workmanship. I would absolutely call them again.

We ended up having to replace the whole unit but that wasn't their fault. They were able to get it up and running again but other problems came up.

Becker had done previous work for me and it was a no-brainer to have them back to do more. Mike came out and did an estimate and he was on time and quick. Work was scheduled for the next week and the two man team showed up on time and worked with impressive efficiency. It was a pleasure to watch this highly competent crew work.

Both the estimator and workes showed up on time and finished promptly. No problems with the work, the electricians were friendly and obviously knew what they were doing.

This was our first time calling an electrician since moving into our house and selected Becker through Angie's list. The employee answering the phone were professional and courteous and were able to schedule the work the same week although I chose a later date due to my schedule. The electrician called to let me know that he was on his way and arrived exactly on time. The work was performed within the time frame initially estimated. The electrician was professional, friendly, cleaned up afterwards and didn't mind me asking questions. I would not hesitate to call them again for any other electrical work.

My experience with Becker Electric was top-notch. They sent an estimator out to our house to look at the work being done (as it was a fairly significant amount). They produced a detailed line-item estimate for each piece of the job so we could decide what portions were worth doing or not to stay within our budget. Retrofit electrical work is usually messy and invasive, and I was really surprised at how few holes had to be cut to fish wire through our walls. The lead electrician on our job was clever and quick. They finished all of our work in about 2 and a half days, then came back after our painters were done to install the fixtures and recessed lighting trim.

I noticed that I a breaker one of the circuits in my home seemed to be functioning incorrectly. That circuit seemed to flicker a lot. I called Becker Electric on Monday, and they gave me an appointment time of the next Wednesday, between noon and 3p with Steve. Steve called at 12:10p to say he was on his way. He arrived shortly thereafter and performed the work as requested and described above. He was quick, thorough, and professional. By 1 o'clock, we was done and gone. My bill was $110 for 3/4 a hour of work, plus $5 for the circuit breaker. I will certainly call this company again when I'm in need of electrical work.

Two workers came on time. They worked together efficiently and quickly on each task starting with running wire in the basement for the dryer outlet. The lead guy Marc asked me where I wanted the outlets placed and walked me thru any difficulty that they might encounter. They were not able to access the crawl space above our kithen so Marc came up with another solution for extending the wiring further down on the wall. I was very +happy with the results. They charged by time and I really got alot for the money spent.

I had four working ceiling fans that had been poorly installed long ago. The previous owners must not have used them much, because once I started running them 24/7, they started to vibrate loose from the ceiling. I found Becker on Angie's List and called for a price quote. The people working the phones were very knowledgeable, helpful, and clear--they would not do a free estimate, since the fans and lots were replacements rather than original installations. Once I decided to make an appointment, they worked with me to get me in relatively quickly. The electricians were very punctual, arriving at 7:45 AM, and very professional. No small talk, all business. There were two men on the job, and they worked extremely fast. I had been told by another contractor (an all-around handyman, who is not a licensed electrician) that it would cost $300 per fan for the installation, and then additional charges for the exterior lights. I was initially shocked by Becker's hourly price ($140 for the first hour, then $35/15 minutes after that), but after reading other reports on Angie's list, I realized that speed and quality was the main asset. I am very pleased with the final price. I had wired the light kits on the fans myself and installed the globes & blades to save money, which I regret doing. These guys were so fast, it was much better to have them do the light kits, which they had to double-check anyway. The clean-up was a little sparse--I have plaster ceilings, so there is debris everywhere and a lot of dust. But I am happy to take care of that, since I feel like I just saved $700 today! I will definitely use them again.

Work was done promptly, professionally

We called Becker Electric on a Friday. The earliest they could come for the estimate was the following Wednesday (5 days). Michael came and did a thorough job of evaluating the situation. He told us an estimate would be mailed to us in a few days, which it was. We then immediately scheduled the work for the following Wednesday, the first day available. A crew of two arrived on time and did the work in a very professional manner. They ran an electrical cable from the house to the detached garage (about 60 ft) and installed new connections on each end, which involved drilling through the brick wall of the garage and tying into electric lines inside our house. They also replaced a short section of cable that ran into the basement. In addition, they replaced the dimmer switch in the kitchen.

Exceeded expectations. Unlike other companies who acted like they wanted to skip this small job, Mike came out to listen to me describe the project to ensure there was no miscommunication or unexpected costs at the end. Although their price was 40% lower than any other estimate, I tried to negotiate them down anyway. I was kind of miffed when Mike all but laughed at me for even asking...I guess he knew that their prices were competitive. I also didn't like having to follow such a deliberate process of getting on the schedule: have estimator come out, wait for formal estimate in the mail, mail in my deposit, wait for scheduler to contact me, then do the work. But, even with the snail mail procedures, they were lightning quick--and their system is probably the "right" way to do business (I guess we forget after having dealt with so many fly-by-night guys). The actual installers were very professional and courteous. They took no shortcuts. Originally, they were going to remove the unwanted fixture receptacles and rough patch the drywall ceiling so I could sand, paint, and make it look like new. When we discovered the existing receptacles were actually junction boxes that could not legally be permanently covered, they called Mike and gave me a $50 discount. I was extremely satisfied with how they handled this and am very happy with the final product.

Excellent. They waterproofed the box and labeled all curcits. In additon, we requested that they add two new electrical outlets and they did.

Mike S. came by to conduct an estimate. He was very helpful when I was trying to determine which electrical project to pursue. My husband was present for the actual work, but he noted that it was done satisfactorily and professionally, and the workers did a pretty good job cleaning up.

The electrician arrived in the timeframe promised. He reviewed the work to be done and began immediately. He took great care in putting my new chandelier together and completed all the work carefully and efficiently. This is the second time I have used this company and can highly recommend them.
