Area Safe & Lock Service

Both the receptionist and locksmith were extremely polite and professional. Our locksmith came first thing the following morning, as promised, after initially making the request. At the time we called, we underestimated how many doors we had, however, he was able to get everything finished in a timely manner (approx. 2 hours). He even took some time to look at a squeaky door that appeared to not swing open evenly. We were very pleased with the quality of work done and would use again if the need arose.

Called at 8:00 and thought I needed my front door locks replaced -- in a hurry !! The office couldnt have been more accommodating -- When I called and asked for 2 new locks the service manager asked me additional questions where she determined I just needed my locks rekeyed. Saving me $$$. My door was rekeyed by noon !! I know if I had called another day the service may not have been within 4 hours but I cant thank Area enough !! Service man was professional and when they left my newly keyed locks were mechanically smoother than the original -- with additional keys

He was very friendly, timely, did a good job, cleaned up well, I liked everything about the service.

They were very helpful and it was a good experience. It cost $30 for two keys.

I had my locks re-keyed after buying my new house. They came out and did all the work on site even fixed a door handle that wasn't part of the lock free-of-charge. Really nice and quick.

This is the kind of service we all hope for but (unfortunately) rarely get. I emailed a request for an estimate and Amber quickly responded and asked detailed questions to the ensure estimate was close as possible to the actual cost. I had to make a couple of changes and Amber's emails were always pleasant and friendly. The locksmith, Darren, arrived promptly on time, reviewed all locks, asked me my preferences and went to work. He even told me that if I needed him and didn't see him that he'd be in the back of the van making the keys. The time estimate was about an hour but Darren was finished in about 40 mins. He also gave me advice on how to handle the spare keys. Excellent job and I highly recommend them. I don't know if the price was competitive, but I was happy to pay the price.

The entire process for the locks took approximately 2 hours, which I suspect would have been less if not for the issue with the one door handle.

I didn't expect it to be that much but after doing some research, it seemed to be what the market price is. Price wise, they were pretty on par.

Worker showed up on time, walked thru the house with me. Gave me a few options (moving deadbolt I was replacing to the garage so all same brand so could all be keyed the same. He only had grey hole fillers so had to later replace with a brass one but that is the only thing that was left for me to do. He even made me keys - one color for all the deadbolts and one for all the doors. Very nice and professional, and $10 for Angie's list customers.

We called for service and within a day the locksmith was there. He worked quickly and efficiently, made sure everything worked right, and did a quick repair of a door handle that broke unexpectedly. This was a good experience.

Fantastic service and professionalism. I couldn't be more pleased! The locksmith Jim was patient, kind and pleasant. Jim confidently repaired an antique Von Morris entry lock that had completely stumped another company. My baby son sat up for the very first time in order to watch Jim work - I'd like to think that's the ultimate compliment to Area Safe and Lock! I've already recommended them to several friends and added their phone number to my contacts in case I need them again.

I thought it to be quite expensive, however, it was significantly less expensive than I was expecting. They were right on time.

The salespeople were very friendly when I set up the appointment. They were very knowledgeable. They did a good job. I will definitely be calling them again.

I called several locksmiths on Angie's list to discuss what we wanted done and although we decided to go with another locksmith, I wanted to let Angie's List clients know that Amber D., the young lady who was my point of contact, was unfailingly courteous, efficient and quite knowledgeable about their products. She answered my emails promptly and always had a smile in her voice. Excellent customer service, something that seems to be sorely lacking nowadays. I'm sure their technicians are just as courteous and efficient. All in all, a very pleasant experience and for their customer service alone, I'm giving them an "A".

Locksmith was prompt, knowledgeable, skillful and informative. We didn't have a key to one of the locks so it took some patience and skill for him to do that one, but he was very efficient. Great service from the helpful dispatcher to the locksmith. Highly recommend!

He is listed on Angie's List. I am very satisfied. I would give him the highest score across the board. I called them after hours. They call me the next day and they came the same day. They were very nice, knowledgeable, and reasonable. I had a locksmith come out to try to fix the key and it got stuck. He charged me more. He didn't do really anything, which was really irritating. He recommended something and he actually had it on the truck, so I was happy with that. They were right on time and right within the window.

First of all, the service technician Jim was very professional and did a good job., although the deadbolt hardware was actually $71.00 when it he initially quoted it at $50.00. The cost of duplicate keys was $5.56. The labor to replace the deadbolt was $147. The cost to rekey two locks was $57.00. The initial verbal quote was not applicable because as the job scope changed when the technician arrived on site. Several of the locks I requested to be rekeyed could not be and the technician wanted to change the entire locks. No work was performed on 4 locks. As the scope changed, so did the cost. It appeared to me the scope was less, but the cost was more. The technician was on the job about 45 minutes. Overall, the value of the service from ASL was unacceptable. I recommend getting a written quote from this vendor and make sure exactly what you want is spelled out, including all service fees, labor cost and parts. Also, remember to ask for your Angie's list discount. I was too mad to ask for it.

The first job, outlined above, went very well. The work was excellent, they came on time, and they were very pleasant to work with. And I thought their prices were reasonable. I was pleased to learn that this is a local family business that has been here for many years. The door looked beautiful with the new hardware, and everything was completely cleaned up. The technician also explained some features of the new lock that buyers would be interested in. I was so pleased with the whole experience that I called Area Safe & Lock again after we moved to do the second job described above. Again the technician did excellent work, came on time, and cleaned up completely. He also educated me about a new type of key that cannot be copied without my personal permission; I took his advice and purchased that more secure lock, with the special key. I really appreciated his help and explanations and believe he gave me excellent advice. I cannot say enough good things about this company. Everyone, from the people who answer the phones in the office and schedule appointments to the technicians who come and do the work, is delightful to work with. I will always call them for any lock work, and I will continue to recommend them to my friends and family. To Angie's List: Please note that we had work done at both addresses you listed below, but I could not select both. I also could list only the first service date, but there were actually two - and two different prices for two different jobs. Surely a recommendation based on two experiences is more valuable than a recommendation based on only one.

The Area Safe and Lock Co. has one of the best customer service representatives in the business. She was very friendly and knowledgeable about locks, doors and home security. She offered a number of solutions to my problem over the phone and was able to provide a number of estimates for each option quickly and efficiently. I called a number of other locksmiths after my initial discussion with Area's staff, and no other locksmith came close when explaining the work that I needed to get done or how they would proceed. After deciding on an option, I contacted Area to get the job done. They were prompt, professional, efficient and very knowledgeable. They gave me a complete explanation of all of the work to be done and answered all of my questions and anticipated some of the questions I probably could or should have asked. THey were on site ahead of schedule, and completed the job as they indicated. I would strongly recommend this company for their work and their customer service attitude. P.S. They were also very clean and left the work area in great shape!

This was our first experience with this company, and it went well from start to finish. The schedulers were pleasant and knowledgeable. The technician worked efficiently and explained everything that he was doing. We are very happy that we found Area Safe & Lock on Angie's List.

The person on the phone was as pleasant as could be, and the locksmith (Jim) was not only punctual and efficient, but also incredibly knowledgeable. I learned more about locks and keys than I ever knew existed. He was friendly, courteous, and clearly a master at his trade. We are very happy with the result. Well worth the price, and we would certainly hire them again. Recommend them very highly.

I called on a Thursday and was able to get someone out the next day (I wasn't in any rush otherwise they were going to see if they could do it the same day). The locksmith arrived on the late end of the timeframe provided, but not too late. He did a great job saving the handle and lock, getting the door opened and fixing the lock. I was prepared to have him just drill it out so I could replace the handleset when I was ready, but he actually salvaged the lock and it is working perfectly. He was very professional and did a quality job. Actual cost was exactly what was estimated to me over the phone when I called. I would definitely use Area Safe and Lock again.
