Another locksmith had told me without seeing the lock that it was too old to be repaired and wanted to charge me $89.00 just to come to my home and look at it and make a recommendation. He then tried to sell me an expensive new lock. When I called Area Safe and Lock Service, they said that a house call was no charge and if the lock could be repaired, the charge would be $ 126. Jim Hardy from Area Safe and Lock came and cheerfully repaired the lock in short order for the amount previously stated. While he was here, he surveyed the other locks in my house and pronounced them all adequate. He did not try to sell me anything! I recommended him to my neighbor for some work and my neighbor was also very pleased and impressed with Jim Hardy's efficiency and professionalism.

We found Area Safe & Lock from Angie's List. They are a friendly family run operation. They greeted us warmly and discussed our options using models they have in their shop. After some discussions, we established what meet our needs and they placed an order on our behalf. About three weeks later (we special ordered a few items), we got a call that our hardware was in and they would like to know how the locks should be keyed. Our requests were rather complicated, but they understood and keyed everything correctly the first time. We scheduled a time for installation. They arrived on time. It took several hours for installation (eight hours) most of the time with only one lock smith working. He was knowledgeable and the work did not have to be revisited. We were very happy with the outcome of their services and product choices. We highly recommend them.

I had just moved into a new apartment and wanted the locks re-keyed. When I called to schedule the service, the company also suggested getting the type of lock where the key can't be duplicated. I decided to go with that option-more expensive but it sounded worthwhile. The locksmith arrived on time, and the only tiny glitch was that he didn't have exactly the right tool that he needed because there was something unusual about my front door, so he had to leave for about 30 minutes to go get it. So the job took a little longer than expected.

Staff were very flexible. I had only been in the house a couple of times and didn't have a good bead on the colors I needed. During the service call, staff helped me get colors to match the decor for each room a lock was installed (I went to the store to pick up locks in the new colors). Locks were installed correctly and work well. Staff gave advice on caring for the new locks.

Robin was very knowledgeable about locks and was very helpful in explaining my options. We had just bought a new house and wanted the locks changed. Jim the locksmith was friendly. He did excellent work. He was careful in his work and took the time to make certain the each lock would work to its maximum potential by reinforcing the locking mechanisms on the door. I received a discount on the high security locks. The total price included parts,labor and a discounted travel fee.

I explained the situation to the receptionist, so she made sure that the person going out new the problem and had experience with cabinetry. He was very helpful and gentle with the hutch, and was able to fashion a makeshift key to get the cabinet open. He then went back to the shop to manufacture a replacement key. When he came back we tried the key in all of the locks and were able to clear up problems with some of the other locks as well. Jim was very helpful and solved a difficult problem.

Robin was very helpful on the phone when I called to make the appointment. They were very accommodating on setting a time to come to the house. The technician, Jim, arrived promptly. Jim did a quick job, and even filed a part of one the doors so that it would open without any obstructions. I would definitely use this company again.

Excellent work. The service representative taking the call was meticulous in explaining options in understanding what was being requested. The response time was within two hours of my call, even though I had said it was not an emergency. The technician who showed up immediately understood the problem and what needed to be done. Although he tried at first to fix the broken lock with parts he was carrying, that didn't work and he had to install a new lock, but rekeyed that lock so that I could use my existing key and did not have to buy a new one. He also explained that I didn't need to have a keyed lock on both sides of the door since it was not near a window, but could just use a key on the exterior side and have a switch on the inside, making it easier to open and lock that particular door. He was relaxed and patient, careful to explain everything that he was doing, including how much longer it would take. I will definitely use this company again when needed.

Robin was a pleasure to work with. She reviewed all the different options and prices on the phone and had someone out to our house to do the installation same day. The price was about the same as other places I called, but the service was far superior.
