Area Safe & Lock Service

Considering the fact that the locksmith had to return to repair his own work, everything went extremely well. The receptionist was friendly and accomodating, and the work was fixed without additional cost.

The locksmith answered an email sent in the evening with a basic price quote. He arrived the next day at the start of his arrival window, and went over the existing door locks with the reasoning behind the initial choices made by the builder for each entry/exit, after explaining the security v.s. the emergency exit balance. He then proceeded to work around the air conditioner sales man who arrived a little early for his window. His truck is fully equipped with keys and lock pieces, so he was able to rekey all my locks even though I only had a key to one of them. Super attitude as far as educating the client as the work is being performed, and sincerely enjoying his work.

Entire experience was very smooth. Locksmith arrived on time. Reviewed doors, changed locks and was finished within 1 hour.

Amber was very knowledgeable when I called to schedule the appointment. She walked me through the different choices I had for locks and gave me prices for all. The technician who came was very efficient and provided excellent service.

The service was excellent. Amber was very patient with us on the phone and was able to get a locksmith out to us the morning we called. Daren was very professional and efficient, and did not try to sell us more than we needed.

Amber at Area Safe & Lock spent perhaps 20 minutes on the phone with me discussing options in hardware and lock type. Her comments were especially useful in narrowing the choices and focusing on what we needed. There was an early-morning time slot available the next day, and I grabbed it. The technician showed up on time, explained what he was doing, made some minor additional cuts in the door to ensure the new lock fitted properly, and was on his way in 45 minutes or so. An amusing side-note is that I discovered just as he arrived that I was locked out of the house. The tech made short work of the existing lock, and went on to install the new one.

I initially tried to fix our problem myself but did not know enough and was nervous about breaking the lock, so I called this company. JD -- the serviceman on call the evening that I contacted them -- was extremely courteous and helpful on the phone, and I got the sense that he wanted to try to help me fix it over the phone (which obviously would have saved us time and money). When we concluded that a service call was needed, he explained their procedures and costs to me (including mentioning that he could come out that night but it would require overtime pay, which we didn't need to do). I got a call from Amber the next morning -- she was very flexible in arranging for Jim to come out the morning after I first called. The time we set was 10:30 am, and he arrived at 10:00, which was awesome. He was very nice, diagnosed the problem within a few minutes, fixed it without having to order or install additional parts, and gave me additional information on security services and resources.

The person that was sent was very friendly and had an "investigator" quality to him. He asked what happened when it broke, and then unraveled what appears to have been a "do-it-yourself" installation of of the system -- finding all the right components (even the transformer in the crawl space. While the price was much more than I expected to get this fixed -- I felt that this guy's knowledge of systems was spot-on and he was only here as long as it took. Future repairs will not be as involved since I now know what controls what.

I called Area Safe & Lock to have my locks changed. I spoke to Robin on the phone and she was able to talk me through a number of different possibilities. They were able to send someone out the same day I called. The service was thoughtful and professional.

Robin was very helpful and explained the options. Daren the technician arrived a few hours later per appointment. He quickly explained my re-key options and went to work. Completed the whole job in just about an hour. Was very skilled and very professional. Didn't waste any time and did a fantastic job. I would not hesitate to use this vendor again or recommend them to friends.

I called to make an appointment for a locksmith to come open an older model fire safe. They worked with me to schedule the appointment (we both had several scheduling restrictions) but Robin suggested that I call the manufacturer's help line before the locksmith came out to the house. If they had a solution, it could save me some money. After talking with the manufacturer's help line, I realized the safe's electrical system may be ruined. The manufacturer is sending me a part, but I may have to use ASL to open it after all. I called ASL to reschedule, and we're holding off on the locksmith home appointment until I try the new part.

When I telephoned for information, Robin spent a lot of time educating me regarding multiple options and their pros and cons. She did not try to oversell, which impressed me. However, I made a choice to go for the 'ultimate' lock system. Based on my choices, she gave me an estimate and that was EXACTLY what the bill came to. Note that I requested same day service. Vendor requested a 2-hour service window for the appointment (between 12-2). Installer called to report he was on his way. Arrived exactly as promised at the start of the service window (12 noon). The installer was very knowledgeable, professional and friendly. There were only two glitches to the entire project as follows: 1. He drilled a metal door and there was minor paint damage to both the door and door frame. Both will have to be repainted. Also, even though he used a magnet to clean up the metal shavings, I had to go over the floor a couple of times to get them all. 2. I opted to purchase the patented Mul-T-Lock products, which Area Safe & Lock is licensed to sell. One of the benefits of this product is the physical CONTROL of keys. However, after installation of the Hercular cylinder, the installer took the product owner's card out of the box. To my surprise, the card had been signed by someone else suggesting the cylinder was used and that other keys existed for this cylinder. Note that the high price of these products is partly supportable by the idea/concept that key combinations are unique and no other keys exist. To his credit, the installer immediately called the office to report the security incident; re-keyed the cylinder (changed the pin combination); and provided new keys. Naturally, this extended the length of the service call and somewhat undermined my confidence in Area Safe & Lock. This is why I down graded the overall rating from an A to a B.

They were very responsive, quick, and helpful. The customer service over the phone was helpful and gave an accurate price estimate. The technician performing the work was polite, professional and did quality work. I will definitely call them for any future lock needs.

He was willing to work well around conflicting schedules. He was very helpful. He helped me save money on the work I wanted performed. He was up-front and offered a cost effective solution to my problem. He was very accommodating and professional.

Upon calling AS&L I spoke with Amber (I think?!) who was extremely helpful. She gave me a very accurate price quote over the phone, and demonstrated such patience with me... having just moved into a new house it was difficult for me to remember just how many and what kind of locks we had. The serviceman was prompt and quite helpful. I was charged the amount I was quoted, and was very satisfied with the work.

Area Safe & Lock's strong reputation is well-earned. The company was incredibly responsive, both via email and via phone, scheduled a same-day appointment, and provided an estimate over the phone that was very close to the actual charges. The technician arrived promptly and was very professional. He made every effort to install locks that were not only secure, but esthetically a match with other materials in the house. He suggested keying the new locks so that they matched the keys we were already using. I wouldn't have thought to ask about that, but was delighted with the result. His other recommendations were logical, well-informed and practical. The company's 90-day warranty for all products and materials was a nice added surprise. I don't foresee having any problems with the work, but it's nice to know that the company stands behind it.

Daren arrived one time and got to work immediately. The job was completed within 1 hour. He was very efficient and pleasant. I would use the company again.

Over the phone quote was great, the woman described various options including high security locks, but I went with more standard deadbolts. When I originally called, they offered to install same day which was great but didn't work for my schedule. Locksmith showed up on time, was very nice, described everything he was doing and worked efficiently. He did a great job cleaning up all the sawdust and everything from drilling. We were very pleased and would use them again if we need a locksmith.

They were very responsive and helpful. I had locked myself out, they came right out in the morning. They were very professional, and they handled the job well. They were friendly and willing to work with me.

They were not able to fix the nursery door because they didn't have a part (understandable since we have an old house with unique doors). He is coming back next week. I wanted locks installed on outside of bathroom doors to keep my toddler out of bathrooms when unsupervised. Had been envisioning slide locks but he convinced me it would be less distributive to the nice old doors to just create custom keys for the nice old key holes. Great idea! He was amazing about being quiet while my baby slept. Very considerate. Only slight issue is that one of the doors he worked on seems to have a slightly loose handle now--but could've always been a problem. Hard to say. Am sure he will fix next week.

It went extremely well. The locksmith from Area Safe and Lock was smart, personable, and honest. He was meticulous in his work and eager to answer every question I had. I would absolutely recommend this company to anyone looking for a good locksmith.

They were very professional and prompt. However, on their website it says they do security bars and they do not. They referred me to someplace else. Also, I didn't read the fine print that there was a $72.00 trip charge, which had I known about, I probably would have gone with someone else because the trip charge wound up costing more than the actual work. I would recommend this company if you have a larger job and more locks to be done, because they were very prompt and explained each aspect of what they were doing, what my keys did, etc. I was also expecting the security walk through of my house and am not sure if I would have had to request this service separately. If you want this service, make sure you talk to them about it. It might have been nice if he explained about various options, including the Mul-T lock which they put on their website.

Great. Receptionists were very friendly and, though I wasn't at home, were able to diagnose what I needed simply by asking me questions about the letters and numbers on my keys. They gave an estimate of 300-400, depending on some things they couldn't guess from the keys. The final cost was 360, so they were right on. The guy showed up in the one hour arrival window they promised and quickly realized that I had some kwikset as well as schlage locks and he offered to either a) rekey all of them, leaving me with two keys, b) install a higher quality - and more expensive lock - he had in the truck, or c) go pick up the lock I needed from the warehouse. I chose (c), and he did it. The whole thing took about two and a half hours, he explained the bill thoroughly and was a nice guy. I'd use them again.
