Area Safe & Lock Service

Arrived on time, changed locks, provided "master set" and number of copies. Gave advice and recommendations on re-keying for security. Was complimentary about the property and very nice. Was kind and tolerant of my dog. If I were to do it again, I'd choose service providers closer to home and avoid travel fees. Not a negative for ASL. Just an FYI.

The overall experience was positive and stress-free.

We needed all the locks in our house re-keyed immediately, and they came out the same day and did the job. The person on the phone and the locksmith were both extremely polite and attentive. The service was also impeccable. Most importantly, they seemed very honest. Definitely not your stereotypical shady locksmith. Will absolutely use them again.

Jim Dunlap called about 30 minutes before arriving and then arrived on time to fix a front door handle/catch issue that had been a problem on and off since a handyman installed the new front door handle/dead bolt in July. He not only fixed the problem, he also took the time to explain to me exactly what had been going on with the mechanism, and other cases he had seen that were similar. (It was a manufacturer's design problem in a new handle set.) While working on the door handle, he also noticed that our deadbolt was sticking and proactively fixed that--even though that wasn't the reason I had originally called. At the end of the appointment, he advised me on our possible options for dealing with a garage door lock issue in the future. He was extremely professional, courteous, knowlegeable and helpful. It was a great experience to work with Jim and Area Safe and Lock and we will highly recommend them to others.

They arrived on time as scheduled and did not leave until the job was complete. All exterior door handsets and deadbolts were replaced. All new deadbolts were high security. The technician was polite, knowledgable, and cleaned up after completing the work. The technician explained all lock install options and demonstrated the operation of the locks. Very pleased with the work. Found one problem after the install was completed. Called customer service for a follow up service visit to correct the problem. They scheduled the return service visit immediately and the problem was quickly resolved. Very pleased with the service visit.

We unfortunately had an experience that forced us to find a locksmith that could change out our locks as soon as possible. I called Area Safe and Lock Service and was incredibly pleased by the responsiveness. I was given a total over the phone, and Darren was at our house changing locks within an hour. Darren was polite, knowledgeable, cognizant of our pets, and made quick work of the five lock sets. We were charged exactly what we were quoted. The total time from my phone call to job completion was less than two hours. I can't drive 2 miles during my morning commute in 2 hours. Highly recommended.

Customer service was excellent. They came out on short notice, were timely, quick and technician was excellent.

I got an estimate for changing the locks on 3 doors. Robin was a pleasure to deal with--she is very responsive, professional and nice--I had about 3 phone calls with her about scheduling/estimates. In the end the person installing our security doors was also a locksmith so we went with him instead.

Daren arrived on time and rekeyed the locks quickly and efficiently. Just before his arrival, the latch on the front door broke. He gladly handled that unexpected repair. Excellent service. I would highly recommend this firm.

From the initial call I was sold. The person answering the phone was professional and knowledgeable. She provided a guesstimate that was very close to the final price. I would definitely use them again. This was my first experience with Angie's List and I am thrilled.

Everything went great! I called them on a Thursday and they came out on Friday. The gentleman was right on time and did a great job. It was a complicated job because of the age of the house. He was there for almost four hours but was thorough and got the job done. Very happy to know that the locks have been changed. He was able to rekey all four doors with the same key. I would use them again without hesitation.

We called and left a message. Although the add said they were not open on the weekends, the customer service rep called on a Saturday and followed-up with additional calls until we were able to establish an appointment. The rep arrived on time and quickly performed the installation and was gone within 20 minutes.

Lock broke from interior last night and even though I figured out how to lock it from the outside, I decided to call this highly rated company to see if I could get on the schedule early next morning. JD was one of two technicians on call last night and he picked up on the second ring. He asked me to explain the problem in detail to get an idea of what happened to lock. At this point, a lesser company would insist to come out right away. See, I knew the lock would hold fine for the night. What JD did say was, "It is fine for the night, but i do want to ask you can you safely get out of your house if you cannot unlock it from the inside? If not, I should come and I know it's a premium but it's worth it. If you can, we will see you tomorrow when you are available." Um, wow. I didn't think of that. Indeed I could get out safely, but I am glad he asked. Great question. He took all my info and said I'd get a call from the office first thing in the morning. They did just that, gave me a window of 1 hour, between 9-10am. It was the same JD who arrived at 9:02am. Because I had an off-brand lock, he had to dremel some replacement pieces to fit and got it all working well. He also shaped up my other latch to greatly reduce the pressure and wear of the deadbolt thus reducing this type of damage from happening again. (Seems like my door was hung a little improperly three years ago.) He also checked out my french back doors to see if they were holding safely. They were but I did appreciate the check up and information on how to keep them safely locked. Work was completed within an hour and the Angie's List $10 coupon was applied to my bill. Great company, great prompt service and would definitely use again.

I contacted Area Safe and Lock to change the locks on our front door after our ground floor tenant moved out. I booked their first appointment . When I looked outside, I noticed that they were there before my 8am scheduled time. Daren was able to rekey the locks so that we have only one key for both the main lock and deadbolt. He also made us additional copies. Everyone I had contact with, from making the appointment to having the work done, was professional and friendly. I'd definitely contact them again.

I asked them to key the deadbolt to my existing key. Apparently, the key was unusual and required a non-standard deadbolt part which the technician didn't have with him, so they immediately sent another guy over with the part, and they both worked on it. The result: work completed in about the time I expected to begin with, at the quoted price. Very courteous and informative throughout.

It was quick, reasonably priced and solved my problem. The technician showed up in the window I was given, did the work quickly, I paid him and he was gone. Everything went very smoothly. Would definitely call them again if I need this type of service again.

I needed to get my door lock changed fast, and Area Safe and Lock Service was the perfect fit. They came the next day during the time they were supposed to, and brought the extra keys I requested. The gentleman who switched out the tumbler (or whatever it's called) did so quickly and even gave me an impromptu explanation of my door-locking mechanism, in case I wasn't familiar with the system, which is not intuitive. They're not cheap, (okay, I didn't compare, just used the first place I called), but I would defintely use them again.

Once the work was approved, they got us onto the schedule within a week and the installer did a fantastic, professional job. We are now having them do additional work for us. The respond promptly, communicate clearly, act professionally and offer a great service at a reasonable cost.

Jim was great. Instead of "changing" my locks, he "rekeyed." Jim was very informative with explaining to me the security of keying. While I never really payed attention to how my door locked, Jim also explained to me the different ways my door locked. I would definitely use again, and have already referred neighbors.

The service went very well. The locksmith was thorough and explained options for keying in great detail to promote greater understanding. The sliding door was problematic and my time was infringing on the next appointment so I needed to call in for a 2nd appointment, but was not charged a 2nd initial visit fee. The same technician returned to work on the slider which was helpful vs. explaining to another person again. I'm very satisfied with the work that was completed.
