Good quality shoe repair and completed within the time promised. While the cost is a bit higher then other shops the quality of the work is worth it. A pair of leather boots repaired last year have held up well through are very cold and snowy winter. Will go back.

Outstanding, no glitches. will definitely use them again.

Took shoes in to be repaired. She reviewed the damage. Was given an estimate. Requested to prepay. Shoes were ready when promised. Shoes looked like new when I picked them up.

The owner is there to greet me at this quaint shop in the heart of downtown Alexandria each time I visit. History: I dropped off a leather jacket that had been torn just a week after recieving it as a gift. The tear in the sleeve made me sick to my stomach. However, I felt even worse after an 'expert' repair job at a local shop in SWVA left a baseball style stitch, and a hole in my wallet. I discovered Alexandria Shoe Repair on Angie's List, and after running three pairs of shoes thru as a test, decided to see what she could do with my jacket. I dropped it off in Jan/Feb 2011, and would stop in each time I returned to the area on business travel. She would smile and patiently explain that she was still working on it, but that I would be satisfied when I saw it again. I picked up my jacket on a beautiful day in May. With my wife with me, we were shocked to see that the only visible signs of the 'scar' left by the tear and subsequent ill repair, was the small puncture holes left by the tight machine stitching. I am ecstatic!! As I don't believe in magic, it can only be true skill and craftsmanship by over 100 years of experience. Mrs. Steube is amazing, and truly an honorable person. I can say that I did not pay nearly enough for her finished product (or the stated price above). I was willing (in Jan) to pay up to $100 to make my jacket look even marginally better. She graciously explained that she felt I had paid plenty already (in pain and agony, as well as to less skilled leather-smiths), and was just happy that she was able to help restore my leather to nearly new. I fully expect to be bringing our families shoes to Mrs. Steube and her family for many years to come!

It went very well. I'm new to Angie's List, and I feel like I'm writing quite a few positive reviews, but these people were absolutely wonderful. They have a cute little shop only a few blocks from my house, and they're always in there working away. I brought them a pair of shoes that were looking pretty rough. A few days later they looked like new and are still in circulation 6 months later. Since then, I take everything I can to their shop, from a polish to a new heel. I would recommend them to anyone, whether you live in the neighborhood or not.

Alexandria Shoe Repair was recommended to me by My Glass Slipper, a wedding shoe store in Old Town. I had always used another shoe repair place in Alexandria. I tried Alexandria Shoe Repair for dying my wedding shoes. I was very impressed. The lady asked if it was an indoor or outdoor wedding because the dye color needed to be darker if it was outdoor. When I got the shoes, I did not think the color was perfect, but I took them to my fitting to see. In fact they were perfect and looked beautiful on my wedding day. I have since used them for some shoe repairs, and they have done a great job.
