We are pleased with our purchase. Courtney assisted us at the Carpet One showroom. She helped us select flooring for the basement and cautioned us that they had to test the basement for humidity before installing the flooring. The engineered flooring installers came on time and were very efficient. The stair carpet was installed by a different person, and he was meticulous. Our only dissatisfaction came with the payment. Carpet One charged our credit card twice even though we paid half of it by check. It took two weeks of phone calls to get credit returned to our account. Courtney was very nice about it, but it's obvious that salespeople don't communicate frequently with the accounting department.

It took me about 10 minutes to pick out the carpet because I had a sample of the carpet we wanted to replace. The salesman worked quickly and I was out of there under 30 minutes with a scheduled measurement appointment for the future and the order complete. The measurement person came to our house within 1-2 weeks. I don't remember how long it took for the carpet installation to occur, but it was not too long. The installers did a very good job-neat, complete, no buckling. We have had the carpet installed for over one year and have had no problems with it.

My husband and I went to the store on Pickett Street in Alexandria. Salesman Thomas helped us. He was very knowledgeable and really worked to help us stay within our budget, assisting us with considering several cheaper options that we hadn't previously thought of. They were having a great sale on good quality Karastan carpet, so we went with that. The estimator was able to come to our house the next day and took about an hour making very detailed measurements of all the spaces to be carpeted. Although Thomas had told us that he would call us with an exact estimate within 48 hours of the measurement (which took place first thing Thursday morning), he didn't get back to us until the following Tuesday night, after my husband and I had each separately visited the store (he wasn't there either time) to inquire about our estimate, since we were on a schedule to get our carpet replaced. The installers came 1 1/2 weeks later (they could have come earlier, except that I was out of town). Thomas had told me that the installers would come between 9-10 am, and the installers' scheduler had told me they would be there between 8-9 am. (Also, the scheduler did not return my call within 24 hours as promised. I called him again when I didn't hear from him in a timely manner). They actually called at 7:25 and said they would be there in 5 minutes. It's good to be early, but that early could be a bit much since I had barely got out of the shower. There were two installers and they got right to work. I had to leave for work. When I got home that evening the carpet looked great. I am very pleased with the installation. My only quibbles with the installers are that they did not sweep my front entry clean, so that it was full of leaves and bits of debris when I got home. Also, they apparently forgot to put all my furniture back in its original spot. Most of it was where it belonged, but one heavy dresser that I could not move by myself was sitting in the middle of one bedroom, blocking my desk (my husband was out of town, so I had to wait a week for him to get back and move the dresser to gain access to my desk).

Good aspects - they came when they said they would and were polite and, importantly, did a good job of cleaning up each day over the week long project. Once the project started they kept with it till completion. Bad aspects - they did not understand the brief. I made it very clear the entire bathroom had to be stripped (except the tub), but they just *assumed* I meant to leave the existing vanity. I said on 4 separate occasions "strip everything out, except the tub" both on site and in their offices. I also made it clear I wanted floor to ceiling tiles, which you can't effectively install if you leave an item like a vanity on the old flooring, that's common sense. Once I identified their mistake, they said I had not asked for that and decided to gouge me on fixing the problem. They took no responsibility and said it was all my fault and charged me 25% of the entire job to fix a space the size of a vanity for a 2 bathroom job. They completely disgust me. I had already bought $8000 worth of carpet with them for a total job of $30K - you'd think some common sense and customer service might have taken place. Do NOT under any circumstances use this company. Update: They misunderstood the requirement in terms of what I wanted done and they blamed me for any misunderstanding. I both in writing and verbally 3 different times told 3 different people exactly what I wanted which was very simple and they still just ended up over charging me $5000. I am very unhappy with their services. They did not want to make things right and they were completely offensive about it. They actually called me to tell me off tell me off.

I found the salesman very helpful and patient and there was a good selection of products to chose from. The salesman then agreed to let me take home several samples of the carpet I had selected to get the color right. Later that same day he came by and measured the room and gave me the final cost. After he had already figured the price, I remembered my Angie's List membership and asked him if there was any discount. Even though he had already given me a discount for paying cash, and had written up the invoice, he gave me an additional discount. I was very surprised. We signed the contract that afternoon. The installers arrived on time and did an excellent job of the installation. The room is large and required several seams, which unless you know where to look can not be seen. The workers were also very clean and neat and took all of the old carpeting and scraps with them. They vacuumed the new carpet and left the room in better shape than they found it. I was very impressed and will use this company again in a few months when I replace my third floor carpeting.

Installer showed up almost 2 hours late from a previous job & did not anticipate possible bad traffic during the week, but was very apologetic & informative about direction carpet should be laid. Ivory Day (sales) followed up next day as promised with a quote & estimated installation based on carpet order delivery. I called back in 3 days asking Ivory to match my lowest estimate ($126 less) which they agreed to. Two days later I called Ivory back asking them to rush the order & install due to a furniture delivery deadline, which he did without hesitation or additional charge. Installers were to show 10-2pm on a Saturday but showed 2pm. Installers didn't know about the mortar part of the job & asked "who told you that". Only after I told them it was the estimator that they agreed to do it. Job was done by 4:30pm. The only long seam was excellent and we literally can't tell it's there (and we're very detail oriented). Absolutely no damage to floor boards! Excellent sales person!

Problems arose with measuring appointment when measurer failed to show up due to having incorrect address (street name was written down incorrectly). Despite fact that they had contact numbers we were not contacted when the measurer realized error and actually had to call company to reschedule. Also had to call for final quote despite fact we were told they would call with a day of measuring. Install went well and was quick and efficient. Workers took care as requested to protect just refinished hardwood floors in other parts of house. Despite communication problems we are happy with the carpet and price we paid.

They arrived to measure the carpet right on time, they actually came and installed the carpet right on time, and they were speedy and cleaned up after themselves. I was very pleased.

Excellent. The sales person, Sharon Betts, greeted us and was very low pressure about sales. Since it was a rec room and we have pets, we were interested in their low cost rugs. Sharon had no problem steering us to exactly what we wanted and did not try to push upgrades. The ultimate cost came very close to her initial estimate;no hidden costs showed up. The guy sent to measure was on time and the installers showed up right on time, were extremely neat (swept and cleaned thoroughly after removing the old carpet and took all the trash with them). The rug is beautiful, even the difficult stairs.

I had to call three times before I was given an appointment to get a free estimate on installing hardwood floors and cork flooring in my home. I was told the estimator would arrive between 8am-10am. At 8:45 I contacted the estimator to find out when he thought he would arrive. I was told within 30 minutes, I waited until 10 am no estimator, not even a courtesy call. I'm extremely disappointed in their customer service. I will go to another company.

Working with Arlene Katz, at Carpet One of Tysons, is a pleasure. This is the second time I have used Carpet One. My previous experience was in 2003. My most recent experience was late 2005 when I moved to my new home. We needed to re-carpet the entire top level and lower lower. We also wanted to add hardwood to the main level. Arlene and her team were able to identify a match to the existing hardwood for several rooms and create a unique and fabulous design for the family room to incorporate a different wood. My overall experience was fantastic. What really makes them stand out though is that they take the time to really understand your unique needs. We spent days and weeks discussing how to incorporate a different wood in to the family room. They took the time because they really care about the job they do.
