Alexandria Carpet One Floor & Home

We used Carpet One to replace the wall-to-wall carpet on two floors and a stairway to a third floor. Carpeting now is available in an vast array of prices and choices that can be difficult to sort out. We felt that Carpet One had both a better selection than other places we shopped, and did a good job helping us select what we wanted. It was easy to schedule the installation and it was done on time. This might have been an A except except we thought the installation was satisfactory, and the cleanup both inside and outside (where they were working to cut pieces) was poor. We needed to do a fair amount of cleanup, something we have not seen for other contractors we have used recently.

They were very professional and very fair in price. They were incredible and worked non-stop. The floor looked completely different than previously.

They did a really good job. The salesman was very good. He came out to the house a couple of times. I was just surprised by how much carpet was needed, but he was really good about working with me in finding something within my budget. The people who installed it were really good too.

I thought it was nice and my wife was pleased with them. They came in; there were couple of spots that they worked on and got them out. They were neat and came in and out. They were courteous. I have no concerns at all. Their pricing was a little less than what the going prices were. Their response was quick. They were here when they said they would be here.

The job took a day plus a few hours the next day. They showed me the tiles to make sure they were the right ones. They explained exactly what would happen, and what might happen. They thoroughly cleaned up before leaving.

Great work, very professional moved all of the furniture and put it back. The installers took there time with the project made sure it was right and cleaned up behind themselves. I would definitely use them again.

I wanted to install a heated floor in my master bedroom, which was an addition to the house and was usually about 5 - 7 degrees colder than the rest of the house in winter. I contacted three flooring companies, but Carpet One was the only one who was able to provide and install a heating system under wood. They recommended the Warmly Yours Environ II product ( www.warmlyyours.com). The salesman, Dan Bevard, was not quite as responsive as I would have liked. I don't think he has done many of these heated floors, and it took many questions on my part and several calls to the manufacturer before I could specify what I wanted and get the price quote. Dan did not always call me back in a timely manner, but I was persistent, since they were the only firm I had found who could do the work. Once had signed the contract, though, they were very responsive and scheduled the job promptly. The electrician they usually use was not available, so I offered to contract for the electrician separately.The agreement had been that my electrician would install wiring beforehand according to their specifications, and be on hand at the beginning of the project to connect the heating mats. Two problems arose here - first, Warmly Yours had provided instructions on wiring for new construction, not for a retrofit installation. My electrician had to reinstall the correct electrical box. Second, the installers seemed to think my electrician was going to install the Warmly Yours mats, which was not what I had agreed to with Dan. A quick call to Carpet One and a supervisor was dispatched, who showed his installers what to do and stayed with them to ensure there were no more problems. Once the mats were installed, they began working on the floor. It quickly became apparent that the flooring provided was damaged and unusable. They said the boxes had been dropped by the freight company (not Carpet One delivery people) and the tongues for the tongue and groove had been crushed. They informed me they couldn't finish installing that day. Carpet one did locate additional flooring in Baltimore, dispatched a truck to pick it up, and arrived back at my house the next day to finish the job. Although there were many glitches in this job, most were due to their lack of experience with the Warmly Yours product. According to the Warmly Yours website, the only other recommended installer in DC is another Carpet One store in Gaithersburg, so if you want a heated hardwood floor, Carpet One is probably your best bet. I do give them high marks for addressing problems promptly - they do seem to care a great deal about keeping their customers happy and delivering a quality product. And how does the floor work? I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!! Looks good, works great, and for the first time, my bedroom is the same temperature as the rest of the house!!! And my walk-in closet doesn't feel like a walk-in refrigerator!

They were great. They compromised with my price. Overall, they were good. I would use them again in the future if need be.

Because we wanted to carpet living room, dining room, stairs, and several bedrooms AND we wanted to have a decent quality carpet i.e., one that lasted 10+ years, we knew we were in for some substantial costs. We started with visiting the showrooms of a couple recommended carpet sellers: Alexandria Carpet One being one of them. The saleswoman was very knowledgeable and let us know the different types of carpet we might consider including the "waterfall" vs. "New York" style of carpeting stairs (the latter being more tightly fitted). She also lent us some free samples we could check out at the home. In the end, the other store was able to provide carpet at a price that, while not enormously different, was significant (and, I shuld mention, were also informative and customer friendly as well). As if to cap off the excellent customer service we got at Carpet One, the saleswoman was very understanding. Therefore, although we didn't use them this time, I definitely think Carpet One should be one of the places one visits when looking for new carpeting.

I visited the store for info. Beau helped me and gave me info on carpeting. He seemed very knowledgeable and professional. My choices were limited because we have two cats who would go gangbusters on the loop pile. Cameron came the next day (great responsiveness by Carpet One) and took measurements. Very professional and personable (he also had a cat. :) Unfortunately Carpet One was losing him soon. He was terrific. I stopped by several days later for a quote. It seemed as reasonable as that sort of thing can be. I don't have much experience buying carpeting. Beau also ordered some samples for me. We had to call after a week to see where they were. They arrived soon afterwards. Ultimately I decided not to buy carpeting at this time because of the limited selection brought about by the kitties. We're going to try bare floors, but I asked Carpet One to keep our record just in case I change my mind in the future. I would consult them again for flooring needs.

Friendly helpful staff at the showroom store. Excellent assistance with questions, concerns, and especially selection of the right product that would enhance the appearance of the kitchen. The installers arrived on time and were some of the best installation people we have ever had in our home. I cannot say enough as to the wonderful quality and professionalism that they showed. The job was completed beautifully – very happy. I would highly recommend them.

Their great service started in the showroom. Courtney was very helpful in helping us find a durable carpet to meet our needs. The store also has many carpet partial rolls from previous jobs. Since our job was small, she helped us find a great carpet at a excellent price. The normal store policy is to measure carpet during the work week, and our visit was on a Saturday. But not wanting to wait, a salesman came over to our house that afternoon so we could confirm the carpet reminant we liked would work. Then back at the store Courtney worked her magic and maximized our deal. On installation day, they showed up exactly on time and worked very professionally and quickly finishing up before lunch. The installer was an employee of the company vice a subcontractor. It was nice to have a work done by someone who is dedicated, enjoys his job and take pride in a job well done. The carpet looks great and we are very satisfied. From sales to installation, this store has a very good team.

I liked their selection of carpets. Their price and quality was good. It was also guaranteed. The staff was very knowledgeable. The store was very nice and clean. I would rate them high overall. I would use them again in the future.

It was a while ago, but they did the work and did a good job.

People in the showroom were helpful when we went in to pick out which carpet we wanted. Carpet arrived in estimated time. Installers were prompt, polite, and speedy. We're very happy with our carpet.

The sales interaction was not very pleasant. I would not recommend them to other members. I was not happy with them. We changed our mind and purchased additional rugs with them and I had to go back and forth to get my rugs taken care of. I think they were very focused on the sales and on how much money they could make. The salesman was really focused on him profit. It was not terribly cheap nor expensive.

Visited the showroom approximately 5 weeks prior to installation. The service staff was very nice and informative regarding the differences in quality and durability of the various carpets available. Particular attention to the padding was provided and welcomed. We asked for a sample of the carpet we liked and had to have is shipped to our home as there were no samples in the store. More than a week passed and no sample. We called the sales person and learned it had been "forgotten" and the sample order had to be placed again. The sample arrived in the mail several days later. We set up a meeting for the weekend to have a professional measurement of the room taken. Led to believe the person taking measurements would provide us an estimate on the spot, we learned the measurements would be taken back to the store and the sales staff would provide the information. 5 days later we had to call the sales person for the quote. Once we received the quote we ordered the carpet and set up and install date one week from the date of the order. Later in the week the sales person indicated the carpet would have to be back-ordered and installation would need to be pushed out one week. This happened again making it two weeks from the order to the installation With the carpet finally at the store the installation person arrived and performed and very professional installation. Not to confuse the punctuality grade provided regarding the sales/store, the installation was on the mark, took only a few hours and was clean. Overall we are happy with the carpet and installation, not as impressed with the turn-around time on behalf of the sales staff. Seems we had to keep calling them to get answers. Prices are comparable to big box stores. We have not had carpet installed by a big box store so there is no grounds for comparison on service.

The representative (Jim) that came was punctual and answered all our questions and provided us with a rough estimate. We were very pleased with the visit, informed him that we are comparing estimates, but that we looked forward to receiving the official estimate from Carpet One. We never received it. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and called and followed up, but once again, we never received a real estimate. Needless to say, they didn't get our business and they won't be getting the business of my co-worker in the future, either.

Frank arrived on time and took the time to discuss the various ways to perform the work. He suggested that he try and stretch/tackup to the cabinet without having to use moulding. This was a little problematic in that when the cabinet installers cut the carpet back they cut it further than needed. There was also a seem very close to the cabinets. Frank worked patiently to stretch the carpet and tack it to new tack strips he installed in the concrete sub-floor. When all was done it looked terrific, just like it was intended to be that way all along. Terrific customer service from the first phone call, easy and flexible scheduling, and most importantly they arrived on time and did what they said for the price quoted. It is easy to see why this company recieves such positive reviews.

Alexandria Carpet One Floor & Home had a really expensive quote. They had a nice selection and were very pleasant. They were just a bit more expensive.

They did a good job. The area is probably 15 by 24 in size. What we liked about them was their professionalism, the ability to negotiate, and the cost. The workers were friendly and professional. I give this company top rating, which I rarely do, because they did well above what I thought a normal company would do.

The estimate was fine, they were pleasant, the estimate was reasonable but we got an estimate a little bit lower from someone else.

Overall, everything went very well. They were friendly and professional. They were very prompt as well. Now it is just a matter of finding the product we want at the right price.

Dan, the salesman, was extremely helpful and punctual coming to measure for the new carpet. The carpet is wonderful so far. The installation didn't go quite as smoothly, as they were supposed to show up at 8 am and came at 1 pm on 12/31. They were there until 7 pm and had to come back the next day for several hours to finish the job. (This caused me to miss a day trip with out of town friends.) Because it was a holiday/weekend, I couldn't get in touch with anyone to see when the installers were coming, when they didn't show up at 8:00. But, the installation is very good and the carpet is wonderful.
