It is always difficult to gauge how much a job this massive is going to cost. That is why you have to call and ask for an estimate. I initiated contact with Absolute via Angie's email, but had second thoughts and decided to call them, too. Jill Davis answered the phone and was very nice, but couldn't give me a date that day. She said she would be in touch. A few days turned into a week and I was beginning to think we'd never connect. You might know, Ashley called me the one day I was not home. I called him back immediately and he was able to send Osmin to give me an estimate since he was in the area. We had a short conversation, he gave me a price and I agreed on the spot. The hard part was convincing Ashley how badly I needed the work done ASAP. You see the squirrels had already moved in and I had had the exterminating company come to patch the holes they had made, but that work doesn't do any good if the tree branches give them easy access again. We agreed on a date a week later, the earliest he could fit me in and I was thrilled and grateful. The 4 man crew showed up a little later than I was expecting them, but they got right to work. It was like a surgical team! The oak came down first, piece by piece with absolutely NO damage to any of my bushes or lawn below. Then they went to work cutting back branches and/or thinning about 7 trees. All areas were very close to my house and no damage was done AT ALL! Believe me, when they began dismantling the huge beech right next to my patio and porch, I was scared to death. But, again, they took it down piece by piece with no damage whatsoever. My neighbor had given them permission to use her driveway to thin out a beech tree between our lots that was out of control. Job done perfectly! Before they left, the crew made sure all areas were thoroughly cleaned up. I want to give special thanks to Rolando, Jacinto, Todora, and Jose for the work they did. I am a very happy homeowner right now and will never call any other tree company. When you have a mini forest in back of your house, you know you're always going to have more tree work down the road! Thanks to all of you!

I contacted this company requesting someone to come out and diagnose a dying tree in my front yard about 2 weeks ago. I called on a Monday and spoke to the lady that answered the phone. She took down my info and said she would have someone come out the next day. I thought that was fast, but was happy that they could do it so quick. She said she would get back with me once that was done. I contacted the company the following Friday (they were supposed to be out Tuesday) when I didn't get a call back or email and spoke to the same lady. As I began to tell her who I was and why I called, she stated that she remembered me and said the request was never put into the system. I never asked her why, but wasn't this part of her duties I wondered. The lady stated that she would put the request in and assured me that she would get back to me this time. I got back from a week long vacation and still have not received a response from the company or lady. I called the company yesterday for a follow up (hoping that someone else would pick up but the same lady answered the phone). As I began to tell her who I was, she hung up on me less than 10 seconds into the call! I don't know what is going on with this company or lady. I've never done business with them before and I don't have a history with them, so it's not like I was a bad customer. I live in an area that they service. Their website indicate that they treat for tree disease, which I think was afflicting my tree but if they think the job was too small; just say so. Don't keep me hanging for 2 weeks. Also, if you forget to schedule the appointment, just own up to me. Don't ignore or hang up on me when I call back to inquire. That's so unprofessional!

My first experience with Absolute Tree went great. It was a little bumpy in the beginning trying to get a hold of the estimator, but ultimately they were timely, more than responsive, and easy to work with. As a result of that experience, when a storm brought a tree limb through my roof on July 3rd, Absolute Tree was who I thought of first. I texted Ashley (the owner) and he got a crew to come out on July 4th to pull the limb down and his crew put up a tarp to cover the hole. The price for that was 1200 bucks. After all, it was a holiday and emergency service was required. That is when my experience went south. When it rained 4 days later, water came rushing through the hole into my bathroom. My wife texted Ashley telling him about the issue and long story short he told her that it was OUR fault for not getting the roof fixed (not sure how we would do that in one business day and before the insurance adjustor even came out), that it was not his responsibility, and that we should feel bad for his guys that came out on a holiday. There are two things are play here. One, we paid a hefty premium for the holiday service so his guys had incentive to come out. Two, it becomes Ashley's responsibility when he offers to put a tarp up. When we told him that the tarp should have gone under the shingles so the water would not go under the tarp, he told us that he has never done that in 14 years of service. When we had a restoration company come out to clean up the mess and re-tarp, that he exactly how they fixed it and it was up for over a month and not a drop of water made it through. The moral of the story is that if you need trees cut done this a good company, but don't have them tarp your roof and in my experience definitely do not tell Ashely he may have done something wrong because he will not have any sympathy for you.

The owner came out promptly after I called for an estimate to trim our trees. When he sent the proposal, he included a copy of his business license and insurance information. We agreed on August 19 for the work to be done. Because of an e-mail problem with the foreman's phone, he hadn't gotten instructions from the owner as to the scope of the work when they arrived at my house. He asked me what I needed to be done. Since I'm never comfortable in a situation like this, because I want to be sure that the owner and I have the exact same understanding as to the scope of the work, I called their office once before the crew started and another time before they left. The people who answered the phone were polite, and quick to address my questions and concerns. All the work was done to my satisfaction on the first visit, and even though trimming the dead branches wasn't specifically spelled out in the proposal (which I neglected to catch), they did that work at no additional charge from the quote. I know this is dangerous work, so every time I heard a loud noise, I checked out of the window to be sure everything was OK with the workers, our roof, and our deck. Everything was fine, as the workers were safely harnessed to the tree, and they tied the dead branches carefully so that they could control their fall and didn't damage anything when they came down. They removed all branches they cut and chipped them into their machine in our driveway, where I had given them permission to park their equipment. They cleaned off the deck and put the deck furniture and gas grill back before they left. I gave this review an "A" for price, although I didn't get competing estimates. I've dealt with this firm before, and want to be sure that whoever works on our trees is going to do it properly and safely. I feel like I got my money's worth.

Ashley first came out and walked the property with me, listening while I showed him what I thought needed to be done. He made suggestions that ended up saving me some money -- for example, rather than remove a very large oak that threatened the property, he suggested trimming/pruning the lower "sucker" limbs and branches, and thinning the upper ones, so as to stabilize the tree and make it less prone to toppling in heavy winds. The 10-man crew arrived around 8 AM on the work date, and Abraham, the crew boss, once again walked the property with me to verify the work to be done. They got to work immediately, and it was a delight to watch them. Each man knew his job and seemed to do it without prodding from Abraham. The designated high cutters (there were at least 3 that I saw) first checked all their equipment, sometimes checking each other's for added safety, then studied the tree to be climbed, attached ropes and pulleys at critical positions, climbed high up with chain saws dangling from their belts, and removed branches and limbs. What professionals -- dangling from ropes high up in a tree, efficiently sawing away. The ground crew passed ropes and other gear to them as required, picked up the cut limbs and hauled them to the giant mulching machine. A second pass by the ground crew included picking up smaller debris and blowing the smallest pieces off the lawn and into the woods. At one point, while trimming branches on a beech near our deck, one of the crew relocated all the railing flower boxes just in case (no worries, the limbs were expertly and gently lowered without touching the deck), then put them back in the exact same spots. They brought all the equipment with them they needed, including a small scoop-loader type log carrier for removing large sections of trunk. Although I am sure the crew would not be pleased with this comparison, their expert teamwork resembled a complex and perfectly executed ballet. They were completely done by noon. We can now see all the way down our driveway again and tree branches won't scratch windshields when people drive in, the huge dead oak no longer threatens to fall on our neighbor's property, and most importantly I will feel far more secure the next time we have a bad storm. When Ashley provides his estimate, he also provides a copy of the company business license, insurance, and workman's compensation. When I initially called to set up an estimate, Jill, the office manager, explained that they don't do business in our area, but she offered to ask Ashley for sure. It turned out that we do live in the area he services, but the postal area name made it seem like it might not be. Jill taking that one extra little step is just another example of the high quality of customer service they provide. The company is not the cheapest one you can hire -- the estimates seem to come in somewhere in the upper middle in my experience -- but they are completely reliable and efficient. The cleanup in particular is excellent. If you have any kind of large or complex tree problem, I highly recommend Absolute Tree. This is the third time they have done work for us, over the course of about 10 years, and I can say that their service and work quality has remained consistently outstanding for that entire period.

The service I received from start to finish was great. The quote was fairly priced and explained. The guys doing the work did a very good job of being careful of surrounding trees, property, etc. Upon completion they left the yard clean and spotless.

The crew was very efficient in performing the trimming task as originally planned. The trees looked even better that I anticipated. These guys also did a very thorough job in cleaning up, and left only minor cosmetic damage to the surrounding ground cover.

I am extremely pleased at how this project was accomplished. Absolute Tree was timely, professional and clean. They also quoted me the best price! They took down this huge tree without incident and removed all debris from my yard. I will sleep better now knowing that tree will not come crashing down on my house in the middle of a storm.

I had to do a claim with Angie's List to get him to write a letter for me. They would not cooperate at all. He told me that he would get a certified arborist to sign off the letter. It took a month but, I finally got it. I was pleasantly surprised that he valued you guys that much. He apologized to me. He is on the recommended list with Angie's List. The work was fine, his responsiveness was a failure. He would not return my call.

I definitely recommend Absolute Tree, Inc. It was a small job so I was worked in, and the guys did a great job. They were very nice and accommodating. The Angie's List discount was honored. A little lag time due to voice mail: the first time I called it was full, and every other time I received a timely call back, but phone tag is difficult for someone who works in a classroom.

Only miniscule complaint is that when I signed the contract I was not immediately (within a couple days) contacted to set up an appointment. I waited 4 business days and then called Absolute. We eventually set up a time and service was performed flawlessly and exactly as promised. Thank you.

We contacted this company for 3 projects and they came out and gave us a very detailed estimate. We followed-up and scheduled the work on the first tree that needed to be trimmed for about $850. We scheduled a date and were given a window for the crew to come in the morning of June 24th. they never showed up and never called.

Work was performed while I was away. Everything was just fine. The cost of the job was equal to the value of the voucher I bought via Angies List

Upon contact, Ashley Davis, the owner came over several days later and reviewed our trees. He was very knowledgeable and clearly gave his crew good direction. The original date had to be postponed because of weather. They called and quickly rescheduled for a Saturday. The crew was great and worked with me on the extent of the trimming and the results are excellent. They thoroughly cleaned up, including my neighbor's deck where several branches had to be dropped. The crew was very efficient as well. I highly recommend this company. Their price was very fair compared to others we contacted. Thanks Ashley and crew!

This is the 2nd time we have used Absolute Tree. The first time, back in 2009, they did a massive cleanup of our trees shortly after we bought our house. They advised this should be done every 5 years or so as maintenance, and at the time, they estimated it had been 8 or 9 years since it had been done. The oaks are at least 70 years old, and large branches hang over every part of our roof and driveway. In all the DC area storms of the last few years, we have never had any major branches come down - only little ones. There is such a feeling of relief every time a major storm comes through, to know that our roof is safe. At this time, we are renting out our house, so I contacted Absolute via email, arranged for them to pass by and review for an estimate, and then after I had accepted the estimate, they scheduled the work, and I paid with credit card over email - easy. I informed the tenants, and that was it. I requested any usable wood to be left for use in the fireplace, which they did. All in all, a job well done.

They cut down the tree very quickly and ground the stump, then cleaned it all up. My neighbor wanted some of the wood for firewood so we asked them to just toss some aside, and they stacked it in a neat pile for him. They were all very courteous. They also did a fantastic job cleaning everything up. I would definitely use them again. Overall positive experience.

This was the second time we used Absolute Tree Service, Inc. for stump removal, and we were once again thrilled with their service. The communication with the office and owner are excellent; we did not have to wait too long for an appointment; and the technicians are punctual and skilled at what they do. We really appreciated the owner's willingness to give an estimate based on e-mailed photographs, so that we didn't need to additional time off of work. The entire service is very efficient, and we believe good value for money. On the previous job in May 2013, they were the only company that would even attempt to get their stump grinder to the sloped and grassy back of our row of townhouses, through our gate, and into the backyard of our townhouse. On that occasion they took out a massive and unsightly 6 foot x 4 foot stump in a matter of minutes and even helped with the clean up. That service was $360, and also worth every penny in our opinion. I would recommend this company to everyone.

ATI took down a large tree that was overhanging my house, my driveway, and the power lines in front of my house. The estimate and final cost were substantially lower than what I was quoted by other tree services. The quality of the work was good, and I will definitely look to ATI for future tree work. One thing I wish I had known/researched/asked about was removal of the mulch resulting from grinding the tree's stump below grade. It is not included in the basic service. Not a big deal as I just bagged the mulch myself, to the tune of about 25 39-gallon bags worth of mulch and sawdust, that the recycling collector hauled away. It was just work I wasn't expecting.

The team was great. They arrived on time, and talked us through how much we wanted trimmed (we had originally preferred a more "natural" look, but opted for removing some additional limbs to open / clean up one of the oaks). They checked in with us and advised us throughout the process. They were extremely professional and thorough - they even cleaned off our neighbors roof of the tree debris and completely cleared our driveway (including the leaves / old mulch that we had racked that morning!). We would absolutely use them again, and have recommended them to others in the neighborhood.
