I was assigned this company by FAHW on 02 January 2021. They came to my house on 07 January 2021 to diagnose my dryer. The man came in for 2 minutes, only opened dryer and took a picture of the sticker to order part and said its probably drum bearing. Didn't diagnose nothing. I figured he knew what he was doing. They came back on 22 January 2021 with the part. It didn't fix the problem. I emailed them on 23 January 2021 to let him know it wasn't fixed and sent video of dryer still not working. They said they could come back on 02 February 2021. They never showed. I emailed again. They said they would come on 09 February 2021. They never showed again. I finally called FAHW back today and they assigned a new contractor. This company SUCKS. Don't let FAHW stick you with them

Refrigerator repair not finished 6 months later A-1 Solution to December 2017 problem: 1. Show up next day to disassemble freezer, secure contract and collect money 2. NEVER (not once) initiate communication with customer 3. Make Appointments with time windows and not show up 4. Make excuses instead of apologies 5. Show up, stand in kitchen, look at refrigerator, misdiagnose complete problem and order for a partial repair 6. No-show for another appointment Another missed appointment today. Another day of lost work. No phone call. My refrigerator is still not repaired. A-1 has been to my house 3 times, sometimes just standing in the kitchen and guessing at the problem. They missed another appointment today. I have taken off work 7 times over the last 6 months and still have a broken refrigerator.

The repairman was extremely polite and considerate of my schedule. He was able to obtain a part he needed to complete the repairs quickly so that I did not have to reschedule. I am very pleased with his service.

I use a warranty company, who referred the job to A-1, Alexandria, VA. A-1 sent a repairman on Wednesday, 8/14, who determined it was the control panel. He was on time and correctly diagnosed the problem. The warranty company ordered the part and it was sent directly to A-1, which is when the service deteriorated. A-1 promised to call as soon as the part was received. It was received by them on Wednesday, 8/21 at 9:30 a.m., according to the tracking system for packages. I knew they had received it, but politely waited for a call. No call by 1 p.m., so I contacted the office and had to tell them that the package had arrived. They hadn't a clue. If I hadn't had the tracking number, God knows when they would have called. I got an appointment for Thursday, 8/22 between 11 and I forget...maybe 3 p.m. I rearranged my schedule and appointments to Friday so I could be there. The technician called at 11 to say he wasn't coming because the part was in their other office (wherever that is). Apparently it was an hour's drive from the Alexandria office. I ask you: Why didn't the scheduling person have the part delivered to the technician's home office, or have the technician pick it up on Wednesday? They had all day Wednesday to be ready for my Thursday appointment. No other technician was available, so I had to reschedule for the next time I was free: Saturday the 24th. This is no way to run a business. I lost all the fresh food in my fridge, patiently waited 7 days for the part to arrive (meanwhile ate in restaurants), and then had to wait an additional 3 days because of their incompetence --10 days total. I asked the person who scheduled the appointment to have the owner give me a call. I wanted to explain what happened so he would know how his office was being run. No one called. The technician did a satisfactory job, but overall what counts is customer service and timeliness in these situations....TOTAL FAILURE.
Description of Work: The fresh food section of my refrigerator was freezing. They replaced the control panel. We have a $100 deductible with our warranty company, otherwise the cost would have been higher.

When I first called, my call was registered and I was told that a technician would come the following afternoon, calling between noon and 4pm. The next day, the technician called 4 minutes before noon, said he would be here in about 25 minutes, and appeared on schedule. He diagnosed the problems in 10-15 minutes, explained them to me in language I could understand, and gave me an estimate. I agreed and he set to work cleaning the coils thoroughly, then taking off the inside cladding to get to the drain. It took a while to melt the built-up ice and unstop the drain. Finally, he put everything back together (no parts left over) and advised me how to better care for the refrigerator in the future. The initial estimate was honored. I had a good impression of the company at the first call, but horror stories abound in the area of appliance repair, so I was apprehensive. When the technician called on time, I was even more impressed; and his competence and demeanor only added to my satisfaction. I was very pleased that the refrigerator could be repaired on the spot, and that I would not have to buy a new one. I hope I won't need refrigerator repair again anytime soon; but if I do, I will call A-1 and ask for the same technician again. Also, I will recommend them to anyone who asks.

I do not like to give negative feed back but I think others should be warned. To be fair, they did try and give us a small break on the cost but I would suggest you never use A-1 Repair. My dishwasher was leaking from the middle of the machine away from any hose connections. I called A-1. BIG, BIG MISTAKE. A technician came that afternoon after I pleaded a little. This was a good thing. He came in, stock his phone camera under the washer a took a picture. Said he would have to order part but he did not know what parts or the cost. Said he would get back to us. This took less then 5 minutes. No real investigation as to what was the real reason which I think was due to the technicians lack of knowledge. The next day I got a call with the price. They ordered the part. Got a call saying the parts were in and to set up an appointment. Appointment was four days after the initial visit. The Tech came in and started to work and despite his "8 years experience" he did not seem to really know this machine. He replaced he part and the leak was the same as ever. Nothing solved. He said he would have to check on a seal and left with no information as to anything. He also left the lower rack out which is no bid thing except it points out sloppy workmanship. The part he changed out was good and not the problem. If he had check the first time, he would have seen that. To inexperience and too much in a hurry to do things right. Just a stab in the dark. I called the owner of the company who was not there but would be in the morning and would call me. I called several time in the AM and finally got to speak to the owner and expressed my concerns. My frustration level was very high and so expressed. He did say that the Tech should have ordered and replaced the assembly but defended the actions, delays, incompetence and cost. Denied that anything was wrong. Basically saying that's the way it is, live with it. The next day I got a call from the Tech who said the part will be in and we scheduled an appointment. This is three days later. He never showed or called. I call the Tech, no answer. Called the office who said they would call him. Twenty minutes later he called. Said he was busy and could not answer and all the excuses you would expect as to what happened. The "part did not come in" they had to order a different assembly. We set the time for yet another visit. He came with a completely different assembly and replaced it. After the replacement, he started the washer and the original leak had stopped. Finally!! I paid hoping never to deal with this company again and he left. We then started to wash the stacked up dishes and I thought I should double check the leak and found yet another leak. Very slow and from a different location. I think it is a reassembly problem and not a part problem. I called the office and left a message to have to Tech come back. It is not over yet but my review can not get more negative. Hopefully, it will all be over soon.

Total waste of my time, see description detail.
Description of Work: On Friday evening, June 22nd, my A/C started to give out so I went online to find an emergency repair company. I called A-1 repairs because their website seemed professional. About an hour after I called, two repairmen came (one seemed more like a student). Not even 10 seconds had passed since I let them through the front door when the technician told me I needed to fix the A/C compressor. I asked him how he came to that determination since he had not even looked or touched anything yet, he keep saying that his experience told him so. I told him I would feel more comfortable with his diagnostics if he actually checked something, at which point he said he would but he was sure that it was the compressor, because his experience told him so. I asked him twice how much it would cost to repair and he never answered, he proceeded to go downstairs and get his ladder. On his way back up (our a/c's are on the condo roofs) I told him not to touch anything until he gave me a price, at which point he proceeded to call someone in his office (that's what he told me). After he hung up he told me it would cost $450 (keep in mind that at this point he still had not looked or touched anything). I felt very uncomfortable with them and I paid the required service fee and asked them to leave. I called my warranty company the following Monday and they sent someone over after a couple of days. This 2nd company told me that all the A/C needed was freeon and a good servicing (cleaning coils, etc.). Needless to say, I think the first company was just trying to take advantage that it was hot and it was the beginiing of the weekend. STAY AWAY FROM A-1 REPAIRS APPLIANCE SERVICES!
