A-1 Garage Door

I have been using this company for years for various repairs to my wooden 2-car garage door. They are just a delight to work with! I called yesterday that the outside weatherstripping needed to be replaced and I received an appointment for the next afternoon. Work was done efficiently and professionally. This company is a class act.

Came and fixed the garage door for a nominal cost. Others had said that the door would need to be replaced.

Called at 5pm and was able to have someone come by that night. Replaced springs and lubricated the hinges very quick and charged $300. Great service tech. Would absolutely recommend.

I was pleasantly shocked at how quickly someone came to my home, diagnosed the problem, provided a range of options, and then get everything working that same day. Sometimes when you're in a bad situation, it's really great having someone able to help you just as you need.

Abby and Charles are an amazing team, always friendly and courteous. They make you feel like family. We started using them years ago remotely from California for our rental house and now that we are back in DC, was able to meet Charles in person. Great guy and focuses immediately on the problem and doesn't leave until it's fixed. Even in cold weather, no complaints. No job is too small. Of course, that means that when we need to replace the gargle, we will go them first! Happy to recommend them!

Old garage door was removed and new door was installed quickly and efficiently. Works beautifully.

A-1 did a great job. Estimator was really polite and informative, no mansplaining! Installer did a great job replacing my old wooden door with a new steel door. Arrived on time and was very neat in clean-up. Great company.

They gave me a fair price, made an appointment right away, arrived on time, didn’t try to “up sell” me, and did a professional job.

I had my rear garage door replaced on May 21, 2019 and it went great so I didn't hesitate to call Abby at A1 garage door again. On Oct 21, 2019 I told her I need to have Charles come by to let me know how much it would be to replaced my broken springs. She told me right away how much it would be and how much of a discount she would give me off because I was a returning customer. It was a fair price so I asked her if Charles could come by today. She called back in a couple of minutes and told me Charles would be there between 4 & 6 pm. He was there at 4. By 5 the job was done. Charles is very good and he answered all my questions. He was there when they said he would be both times. Great job and I will spread the word. Hope they continue doing great job for customers. Thanks Abby and Charles.

Abby was absolutely amazing!! The customer service and care was impeccable! The install along with the options for purchase was explained and completed in a very professional manner. I cannot say enough about how grateful I am to this company for its outstanding service and exceptional quality of workmanship.

Everything went smoothly. I emailed my problem to them. We sat up an appointment, and Charles came on time and replaced the springs. I hired this company before to replaced the springs on my other door. They did a good job then at a fair price and the same this time.

They came a little early , fast and courteous.

Garage door broke on a Saturday night. I called Sunday morning and they had somebody out to assess the same day. The door was broken in 3 places, so could not be fixed. I have two doors and the opener was not working on the other door. I upgraded the doors and openers. They could have installed the next day, but my schedule didn't work. We scheduled for 3 days later. They were on time and very professional. I would definitely recommend

Abby and team were excellent! What I liked most is that she attempted to troubleshoot the issue by phone before sending a repairman. She also followed up with me to determine if I had success with her advice to open the door. When she learned I did not she scheduled a service for me within a few days. The guy who came out was professional, diagnosed the issue, a worn gear, and promptly repaired the door. The price was very reasonable considering another Angie’s List provider wanted ti charge me $75 to come out and possibly $350+ (of which the $75 would) applied for the repair without knowing the cause. I highly recommend A1.

I called at 1030 at night, expecting to leave a message and be contacted in the morning. Instead, Abi answered, took my information, asked if I needed immediate service - I didn't - and told me Charles would call me in the morning, at whatever time I chose. I said 11 am, and he called at 10:59, and we agreed on a time of 6pm for him to arrive at our house. He arrived right on time, went right to work and replaced my broken spring with a double spring for greater longevity and reliability. Then he lubricated my tracks, rollers and chain, and for good measure, did the same for my single garage door, so it's ready for the winter ahead. He came and went in less than an hour, and gave me a better price than other services would have. That's based on my last experience with A-1, at my previous house several years ago, when I called around before finding A-1. I didn't need to call anyone else this time around! This family-owned company is just fabulous - they're responsive, professional and personable - offering great service at a great price. I've recommended them to several friends, and get nothing but great reports back. Call them first!

I contacted 4 companies from Angie"s list. Abby from A 1 was the only one that followed up to find out if there was anything she could do to help get my business. She gave me a much bigger senior discount than anyone. She answered all my questions and gave me more quotes on other style doors. She was very fast responding to my emails. She wanted my business and she got it. Had to special order my door. Took about 2 weeks. Charles installed my door. He came to my house within the time that was set up. He installed the door and answered all my questions. I felt he was very honest in all his answers. I am very hard to please but Charles did it. I am very happy so far with the new door. I am sure that if I have any problems with the door A1 with take care of it. I received a better door at a cheaper price than any of the other companies. I would use again..

The installation went well. However, I was given used openers when I thought I was paying for a completely new system including openers. After I mentioned this to Charles, he promptly replaced one of them with a used one with less wear. Overall I'm satisfied with the installation, but I wasn't too thrilled with the used openers.

The front office was a pleasure to deal with -- very helpful and responsive. The technician was prompt and professional and did a good job with the installation. So far the garage door opener is working perfectly. We're pleased.

A-1 was responsive and made sure they solved the problem I was having. They didn't just have one solution, Charles continued to problem solve until he came up with the right answer.

I can't speak to price, because I didn't get multiple bids, but A-1 was the first to respond, was able to come provide an estimate quickly, and provided us helpful information on options. We're very happy, and would use again!
