A+ Handyman West Valley

Not good. I don't blame a man whose had just lost his wife but was very disappointed by the response I got from Angie's List, which was that the money would not be reimbursed because my request (made immediately after I got the email from the handyman) was outside of the time frame for cancellation. Eventually I got an email from Angie's List saying that a refund would be given.

Unable to get any response after emails, phone calls (3), I don't think he exists

Alvin was very difficult to get a hold of. He did not return our emails within 3 days and it wasn't until I phoned him did he acknowledged that he even read them. Took 2 weeks to schedule and then he cancelled at 7:30 the morning he was to be there at 8:00. When I rescheduled, 2 weeks later, I requested afternoon and he came at 8:00 am. He told me to purchase the Items to be replaced (?) which I had no idea how to buy, and spent approx. 2 hours of my time. When he did arrive, none of what I had purchased was correct so my time had been wasted. He spent several hours driving around to find some of the items. The door sweeps I purchased were not usable, so he said he would pick up the right ones and schedule another time to come and install them. Today is Dec 8th and I have not heard from him yet. I'm so fed up with this situation, but will try to call him again to get this work completed. I was under the impression that for $99 for 4 hours of work, that I would only need to pay extra for the supplies. He quoted me $235.00 for the job of which I assume $99 will be deducted. This experience has left feeling that Angie's services are not prescreened. I'm very disappointed. today is Jan 02, 2015 and after further thought, I have decided to let this go. The services that were completed, I will chalk up to the $99 I paid for Angie's service

He’s a joke. I called him and we talked. He said he would come and I never heard from him again. I would have expected some kind of response as to why the delay but I didn't get any kind of response at all.

After not hearing from A+ Handyman West Valley, I called Angie's List and explained the situation learning that I cannot get my $299 refunded. I now have to find other "deals" and use my $299 in that manner. I'm very disappointed and once I use my credit for other services I will cancel my subscription to Angie's List and never return again.

Alvin is very competent and someone I trust. He started in July and finished in October. He is very busy so scheduling is difficult, but I definitely will use him again.

It took a while to set up a time but when we did, he arrived on time and went to work right away. He accomplished a number of things that needed to be done.He seemed to know what to do and how to do it.

Alvin and Kyle were friendly, responsive , knowledgeable and fast. Would hire them aqain without question. Alvin kept in touch with me proactively until we found a time that worked for both of us. He then let me know when he was on his way, got the work done and left with the same smile they showed up with!

I purchased the $99-for-3-hours-of-service deal from A+ Handyman. The business responded to the service request with the message that they would check their schedule and get back with me. Despite providing my email address and phone number, and calling the company myself several times, I was never able to get my service scheduled and am now requesting a refund from Angie's List.

Was a little slow to get out here but did a great job and was even able to match the tile. Is doing another shower for us next week.

Professional and competent handy man.

Alvin worked very fast and was able to get a lot more done than I thought could be done. I'm hiring him again for another job. He's excellent to work with.

Went very smoothly. I enjoyed working with him and having him explain what he was doing and why. He was very fair on his price. I was actually expecting to pay much more for the hours he was here over the coupon hours.

It went well. We were supposed to do it Friday, but on Thursday he asked by email if we could push it back to Monday which was fine. They were supposed to start at 1pm, but texted me at noon saying they were running a little late. They arrived at about 1:20 to start. I had paid for three hours and didn't want them to spend the time shopping so I had emailed them to figure out what to buy ahead of their visit (2 bags of Quikrete and a 4"x4"x8' cedar post). When he arrived he determined that he needed paint for the board for the dog door and four timberlock screws. I happened to have the paint, but ran to the hardware store to get the timberblocks. I felt they worked quickly and professionally. They got the two jobs done in the 3 hours, which didn't seem unreasonable to me. I discovered they had done some work for a friend of mine, so I called her to get an opinion. She said they had done high quality work and were honest, but she had had trouble scheduling with them for finishing details on a big project. Her schedule is very full so that is part of the problem. I need some electrical wiring done in the basement. He looked it over and gave me a reasonable bid for four hours of work. If I can get it scheduled I'll have him do it. All and all it was a pleasant experience and I am happy to have those two things done and off my plate.

Alvin did a great job with attention to detail. He phoned to let me know he was running twenty minutes late for our appointment, which I appreciated. I would use him again in the future.

Scheduled twice, failed to show twice -- both times without a courtesy call. Haven't heard from him since. Don't bother contacting us now.

Very responsive to my needs. He understood what I was trying to accomplish, and offered different solutions. On time, within budget, very professional and friendly.

Alvin had an appoimntment to begin working in my home at 1:00 pm. At 1:05 he sent a message that he was involved in an auto accident and would be just a bit late. After hearing the reason for the delay I was shocked to actually have him show up about 15-minutes later. He apologized again for being a bit late and then went right to work. He had all of the tools necessary to fix the sheetrock and was an expert in matching the paint. he also did a great job cleaning up after the project. While he was waiting for the ceiling to dry he also took the opportunity to repair an electrical outlet in that bathroom that wasn't working. This was a very nice surprise since it is my wife's outlet of choice to plug the vacuum in. I will hire Alvin again without hesitation.

It went really well. They were prompt. He did what he said he would do. The price was right.

He was punctual and called me to let me know where he was and what he was going to be doing because he was working on a rental property for me. He let me know exactly what the renters had done to cause the issue. And the renters have even called him on their own when they had a problem! He was very professional and explained clearly what the issue was. Very excited to have found him on Angie's List!!

I purchased an Angie's Deal for part of this service. This fairly extensive work required a couple of trips to complete. Alvin and his subs were punctual and worked hard while they were here. There was some difficulty completing the repair of the wall opening after the window removal, but Alvin personally worked on it until it met our satisfaction. Alvin was responsive, worked with us on scheduling and, was very pleasant throughout his time here. Thanks!
