In the end I was satisfied with the air conditioning 21 point inspection. Tim the technician was great. He explained the work and tasks he was doing and his findings with me as he worked the tasks. The only problem I have is that my scheduled appointment had to be rescheduled. I understand that the company was hit hard with calls from customers who were experiencing problems with their AC units during one of the hottest weeks so far this summer. I had scheduled time off from work to be home between my 2pm and 5pm time slot. At 4:55 pm I called the office to check to see when the tech would be arriving for my appointment. I was told that due to the high volume of support calls they had received my appointment was cancelled and needed to be rescheduled and that a voicemail was left for me. No phone call was ever made to me which means no voice mail was left.

Angies List promoted a deal for a ceiling fan installation through ESCO Services, Inc. The offer was advertised as $75 for $199 ceiling fan install. I paid the money, Angies list gave me a link to use to schedule the work. I chose the 3 times and days for getting the work done. I chose all Saturday times. No mention was made of that day requiring an additional fee for service. . The confirmation letter said that ESCO would reach out to me to confirm the appointment. They did not contact me. They did not show up on the appointed time. I called to see why. I spoke with a live person at ESCO to schedule another appointment. I was clear and specific that I was having a fan installed, I was using the Angies List offer. When the technician arrived, he took a look at the install job, (no assembly required, as the fan had already been "built") and told me that he would have to remove the current electrical box, and replace it with a "fan-rated" box. The additional fee would be an additional $175. No one mentioned any of this to me. I tried to have a conversation with Mark in the office to see if we could work out a deal to charge me less for the additional work that would need doing. He would not talk to me, would only speak to his employee. The reason I should have been able to work out a deal, is that the normal fan install service, includes asssembly of the fan, which in my case had already been done. My reasoning was that since most of the work that I would be charged for had already been completed, I should get a break on the additional install of the the electrical box. I was told that all the fees are determined in advance. Apparently there is no appeal process. They said I would have to pay the additional $175 for the 45 minutes that it would take to switch out the electrical boxes. Then the 5 minutes it would require to attach the fan to its mounting collar and connect two wires was what I had paid $75 for and they claimed to have been a $200 value. The bottom line is that if I had paid the additional $175, in additon to the $200 value that I had already purchased, ESCO would have been making $375 for 50 minutes of work, That equates to $7.50 a minute or $450 per hour. Thank you, but no. There is no home repair or maintenance work under the sun for which I would pay $450.00 an hour. ESCO offered to refund my money. I asked for that refund. I await the arrival of the refund. I am very disillusioned with Angies List. I have tried 4 times to get work done with Angies List contractors. I have not been able to get work completed at competitive rates, during a reasonable time frame, with good quality work. I wonder why I am a paying member here, I have gotten so little in return for my membership fees.

Scheduling: Scheduling with the provider was a breeze. After I purchased the coupon, I got a call from their office and scheduled immediately. However, I had to change at the last minute because of my unavailability and the provider was kind enough to help reschedule. The work: I think the work was over-priced for sure. It was basically replacing my existing fluorescent recess lighting with LED lamps. I had bought some from a whole sale store and the electrician advised that they were not of good quality. He showed me some he were carrying and I liked their design. The cost of putting in each of them was $80 - he said. The work involved was basically unscrewing the fluorescent lamps and putting in the LED lamps. Each LED lamp came with an adaptor that can be easily screwed into the existing assembly and clips that would hold them. I agreed to the price because this was something I wanted to be done for a while and anyways I had bought a Groupon. When researching on Amazon, I found that the same lights would not have cost more than $20.00. Even though the electrician seemed pretty knowledgeable, and he was professional and seemed qualified, I felt the pricing for their services were a lot more than what was delivered. For simple work like this, I would not recommend the company. However, I do not have experience with them for more complex electrical work. It would be worthy to get multiple quotes to compare.

This was a $50 big deal purchase. Technically they did not do the service. A young man came out and I showed him the drain that he was supposed to clean. A little later he had me come down and said he could not get the top off the drain because it was all rusted. Then he said they would have to come back and take out, sort of, a big piece of cement, replace some of the pipe and a new lid. They said that was the only way they would be able to clean it. He told me it would possibly be as much as a thousand dollars but if I purchased a deal with them which is when they come out during the year that would lower the price. Then they set up an appointment for a more experienced gentleman to come out and give me a bid on what it would be to take it out and replace the drain. At first I was going to go ahead and then I thought no, this is ridiculous. I was going to get a second opinion so I called in another drain cleaning company. The gentleman was here 20 minutes and told me it would cost me $100, which was more than the big deal, but he put on a new drain cap and did other thing the other company would not have done. I asked how often I needed to have it done and he said I did not need to have it done again. As a joke he said he would see me in 15 years so I have never had anything else to do with them. That was really a bad experience. I just was completely turned off. If they had done it, the price would have been wonderful. But they did not do anything. I guess, in a way, I feel like I paid $50 for somebody to come and give me misinformation. Their responsiveness and punctuality was not a problem.

Was suppose to do the tune-up and said because of the issue that it was better to replace the toilet. We asked how much to replace it with one we had, close to 300 dollars. (we shopped around and we could get it done for less and include a new toilet). He then did the inspection and said our water pressure was way to high and wanted to charge a arm and leg to fix it and put a new regular on. We paid the service fee for our home warranty to come out and fix it, only to find out that there was nothing wrong with it and yes the water pressure was going to be higher if you take it from the bottom of the hot water tank. The home warranty took the water pressure from multiple spots to show me.

ESCO Services scheduled for 10/24/15 which was a little wait after I purchased the service but that was fine. I was having them put in a mini chandelier at additional cost since the Angie's List deal was for ceiling fan installation. They were also going to replace another light fixture in another room and move a wall socket for window installers that were replacing windows and putting in a patio door. I had worked it out with ESCO Services to get all the work done in one day since I had other work that had to be done, I have a demanding job with long hours, and we were heading into one of our really busy times of the year at work. ESCO Services told me to make sure I had my lights purchased and ready to go when they came on 10/24, which I did. They called me last minute to cancel and reschedule the 10/24 appointment for 11/11/15. I had already worked it out to be off work on 10/24. At this point it was all still fine as anyone can have an emergency or something come up and need to reschedule. They then called last minute and cancelled the 11/11/15 appointment and wanted to reschedule 11/24/15. I had already told them I couldn't get off work on Tuesdays which the 24th was, was in the middle of a mtg. when they called I couldn't just walk out of to try again to work something out with them. They told me at that time it was possible that even if I made yet a 3rd appointment it too could be cancelled and rescheduled as well if they had an emergency or couldn't get to me. At this point I was really getting frustrated. In the meantime the window installers called and needed to get our replacement windows in as they had been sitting in a warehouse for about 4 weeks ready to go until the window installers could get to our job. The warehouse needed them out. I called ESCO Services and explained the situation. They then told me they couldn't get to me until Jan. 7th at the earliest which was too late for the window installers. I made a followup call and was told they couldn't get to me until the end of Jan. I ended up last minute having to call another electrical company from a list of companies that had A ratings that Angie's List send to me to try and help me. When I called the owner of one (Northern Electrical Services) and he found out all the problems I had with ESCO Services, he sent out an electrician on a day and a half's notice to get the wall socket moved while the window installers were there. I had to pay full price for their service. They were very responsive and great to work with, and coordinated with the window installers so they could get their work done and the installers could do the patio door a different day with some of the other windows. They also ran a line so an outlet could be put in on the outside of the house at a later date. They were very professional and nice to work with as was the owner. In the meantime Angie's List called ESCO regarding all the problems I was having with them. ESCO called me a day before the window installers were coming and at that point I had already had to find another electrician last minute to help me. I told them that and how frustrating it was trying to deal with them with one cancel/reschedule after another, and also being told it could be cancelled yet a 3rd time when I was busy as well and have to get time off work to be there. In the meantime I found out Angie's List only does a refund of purchase up to 30 days after purchase which I was not aware of. It was past the 30 days for me to get a refund of money I had paid Angie's List for Esco's Services by the time I went through the above problems with ESCO. That is still unresolved. I am hoping that Angie's List will honor that refund because of the problems I had with ESCO so I am not out that money on top of having to pay full price for another electrician last minute to do the work. I was also upset to find out from Angie's List that ESCO Services is still running deals on Angie's List when they can't even get to the people that have already purchased their services. I believe the problem is they are so busy running deals on Angie's List, KSL, and other places that they can't get to anyone in a very timely manner. It also creates problems with cancelling and rescheduling as well. I do not believe it is the fault of the ESCO Services electricians. They only have so many electricians to dl all that work. I think the problem is with the owner of ESCO Services running too many deals and ads so they can't effectively get to people in a timely manner. I also thought when they understood the problems their cancellations/ reschedules was creating for me with my work demands and with the window installers they would have made an extra effort to try and get to me. It got to the point the window installer who is a great guy was even willing to try and move the wall socket to help me. That is pretty sad. He is not an electrician so I felt more comfortable having an electrician do the wiring things. I would not use ESCO Services again but would gladly recommend Northern Electrical Services after working with them.

It turned out pretty well in general but I felt they kinda upsold me and weren't really accurate on the price. They did the job several months ago. They replaced an outside water faucet. So, what happened is, I bought a deal to replace it and they convinced me to go up to a better quality faucet, which was another deal that I could've got. The actual service was good.

The job was done as expected but the faucet still had problems and they have come back and fixed it. The faucet works better after they revisited it on November 12, 2015 (no charge) and the handle pulls out and goes back better. The furnace is running okay but is our oldest of two but only heats a small area. We will probably have to replace it. They have come before and done a good job. And they guarantee their work. We have had a one year contract to fix any plumbing problems on our house. The company did call several times to remind us they were coming and they call when plumber is on the way which is usually and hour or more ahead.
Description of Work: Installed a faucet in laundry room.. They guaranteed the work but it isn't done well.The two men checked the plumbing, flushed the water heater, checked outside faucets, and the furnaces for wear and function. Warned us to replace a furnace (we knew this one) and water heater that is less than 10 years old. Still wondering why two repairmen came to do the job.

Excellent job. When the electrician came out to review what needed to be done he provided detailed explanation of the work needed and estimated time frame. They were able to work me into their schedule within a couple of business days, which kept my home exterior remodel project on track. The electrician was very professional and respectful of my home. I would definitely use Esco again.

Most of the time we get it right, but once in a while, after a lot of work, we find someone who is not the right fit for our culture. The technician who had to your home last March is no longer with ESCO as he was not a good fit for what we hold dear to our hearts, providing an amazing experience for our customers. He then told me he could not film into the drain because of the slug and he was sorry to report that all my pipes needed to be replaced. He said he could not give me an accurate bid and his supervisor was out of town until next Friday. He said he would bring him up and give me a bid next Friday when he gets back. I told him I would have to get other bids and he said he realized that. I asked him what he thought a ballpark figure was. He said he thought about $10,000 to $14,000. I was shocked and questioned whether this was something that had to be done. He told me it was quite common with galvanized pipe in older homes. I told him my house was only 44 years old. He said he would only charge me $59 with my coupon, but wouldn't collect the money until he brought his supervisor up next Friday where he could give me a firm written bid. This young man said he had only been doing plumbing for a couple of years. On Monday I called another plumber that I have used before, Told him what I was told by Esco. He said he really doubted that was the case, but he would come up and look at it. Well, He cleaned out clogged drains and said I did not need to replace my pipes. He said if this one area gave me problems again, they might have to replace one small part of a pipe, but he didn't foresee that for awhile. He charged me $245.00. A far cry from $10,000. Esco replaced two furnaces for me about 9 years ago and I was pleased with their work. I was very disappointed with this experience and immediately cancelled my appointment for a bid and another appointment to get my furnace cleaned. I put in a complaint to their office and told them they had lost a customer.
Description of Work: brought camera to look at line. He tried to go down the toilet, but could not get very far, so he opened the bathroom cupboard and undid the goose neck pipe and there was a lot of slug coming out..

E.B., the technician, arrived promptly and provided a thorough tune-up of both of our toilets. He was personable and professional. He also tightened our kitchen faucet and adjusted our water pressure for no charge. Because of his excellent work, I would not hesitate to call ESCO Services in the future.
Description of Work: Replaced the flapper and fill valve in 2 toilets and conducted a general inspection of the plumbing.
