+ -1 moreYou have to budget more time if you are going to hire Cliff to do work for you. I know that if I had hired a regular painting contractor to do what Cliff is doing for me now, they would have been done in about 2 weeks tops. It will take Cliff about 6 weeks, but you get what you pay for. Actually his price is not so much higher. I am sure that if you figure it by the hour, You would pay the guy who does the fast sloppy job more per hour by a long shot that you pay Cliff. He figured a bid up before the job starts. This time he is finishing a wood floor for me, a cement floor (staining it) adn the interior walls, trim ceiling in my new studio in a remodled pioneer barn. He is refinsihing the old recycled doors. When the weather warms up, he will stain the exterior wood to match the old logs and seal the entire building (wood surfaces) as well as paint the trim. We are ot done yet, but I expect to be working in my studio in a few more weeks.
Description of Work: Cliff is a consumate craftsman. He is so much more than just a painting contractor. He spends weeks doing prep on the wood trim (I used him for exterior and interior work on this project) so that when the paint goes on it looks fanatstic and it will stay looking that way for many more years than the average paint job. I had him do some exterior paint on the facia and soffit on my historic log cabin 6 years ago. I looked carefully at it several month ago and there is not one place where the paint is carcked or coming up or joints have opened up. He uses high qaulity materials and has good ideas and is pleasant to work with. He will travel too. My mother lives abut 65 miles away (Provo, UT) and he repainted her entire interior over a month about 5 yeasr ago. He loves working on old and historic homes, which not many contractors want to touch. He really cares how it looks inthe end and has a lot of pride in his work. He mostly works alone, but sometimems hires some one to work beside him filling with putty. He nevr turns a job over to inexperienced crew.
