I want to start by saying we were looking for this work because of my sons wedding in July and family gatherings related to the wedding, I wanted my yard to look nice and have a fence in place for my grandkids and others kids during our family events and afterwords. Terrible service. I don't know where to begin, there were so many things wrong: 1. Lack of communication and professionalism 2. Job was supposed to begin in June, but didn't start until well into July and never completely finished, since our tree stump is still there. The fence took approx. seven weeks to complete. Needless to say it was embarrassing when family came to town to see posts sticking out of my yard and a stump growing wild. 3. Jeff did unauthorized work, and then said he wouldn't charge me for that invoice ,as if he was doing me a favor by not billing me for it. 4. Original quote gave a total number but at payment he said that the we read it wrong and it was 278.00 more, even though there was only one total on the quote 5. When I told him I wanted out and would find someone else, he made promises for deadlines and none were kept and still thought billing me full price for a half completed job was the right thing to do.

The aeration was performed early April. I was contacted the weekend before Easter to say they'd be out to do the spring clean that week. No one showed. I figured they were likely very busy and they'd be by the next week. Then it got rainy for a week or so, so I figured that delayed them when we hadn't seen them in early May. Mid-may I contacted the office by phone and a young woman took my number and said she'd find out what was up and get right back to me. Nothing. I emailed the guy that did the original estimate and contract (by now I'm getting aggravated and my lawn is getting yellower) and he said he'd try to get the spring clean crew to my house by the weekend. They did show early the next week. I had signed up for the spring clean because I needed tree pruning and was told they provided that with the spring clean service. The crew of four that came out did not speak English (luckily, my son speaks excellent Spanish after living in South America for three years). I asked about the sprinklers being turned on but they said that a different crew did that. They also had no idea we needed tree pruning and though they said they could do it, they didn't seem to know much about it and did not have the tools with them to do it. Rather than have my trees pruned by an inexperienced crew, I told them not to worry about it. I called the office to clarify (while the crew was here) and no one answered and I was referred to a cell phone number. I called, left a detailed message, asking them to get back to me. No return call from him, either. Within two days, I was invoiced (by a contracted invoicing service) for the spring clean for four guys for 4.25 hours. The crew left for an hour right about noon, I assumed for lunch, and returned later and finished the cleanup. However, they invoiced me for the time they were not here. When I once again emailed the 'guy whose name is the name of the company' about the invoice problem and the frustration I had with no tree pruning and other services, he said twice, he'd talk to the crew and "get right back to me". A week later, I still had not heard back from him. So, I once again wrote and told them to cancel my contract. The upshot is, it's now the end of May, my sprinkling system is still not on, I've received none of the six weed-n-feed treatments that were contracted, and the tree pruning I specifically asked for will now require me hiring a tree service to accomplish. I received a spring cleaning and there is nothing wrong with the work that was provided by the crew (other than the erroneous billing) but I only contracted for the spring clean because I was told it included tree pruning which I did not receive. Now that it's a couple months into the lawn care season, I'm having a very difficult time trying to find another service to step in and get my sprinkler system on quickly. Most services are at least one to two weeks out in their scheduling. Very disappointed in the lack of communication and follow through with Grasteit. It's a shame because they were recommended to me by the previous owners and they were quickly responsive last fall when I needed the sprinklers flushed out and shut down for the winter.
Description of Work: We contracted for aeration, sprinkler system start up, spring clean, and six lawn weed-n-feed treatments.

No problem with yard clean up. Sprinkler repair left something to be desired. I found several broken sprinklers that they had missed. I don't think they looked at everything.

From the outset they were completely unreliable. They did not show up at the appointed day to fix the sprinkers. A call to the company resulted in an excuse about how the job was put down incorrectly on their calendar. A couple of days later a worker who speaks no english whatsovever showed up after 5pm with a younger person (son?) to translate. Neither seemed to know what they were doing. They replaced a few heads, dug a hole in my yard then left for the evening promising to return the following day to complete the repairs. They did not show up the next day and another call to the office resulted in the same story about it being incorrectly entered on the calendar. Two days (and a couple more unreturned calls to the office) later, they returned to complete the repairs. They suggested some further modifications to the system and asked if we wanted them to do them while they were there but were unable (or unwilling) to provide a cost estimate for the addtiional work so we of course declined. Meanwhile, no one ever showed up to quote the general yard work and maintenance at all. A couple of days later I notice the lawn getting dry so I went out and checked the system. The system box was not working at all. It would not cycle from station to station or even turn the system on. Please note this was not the problem that they were contracted to fix - they were working only on the lines/piping, not the control system. That was working fine until they worked on it. When I finally got someone to send them back out (3 days later) they again sent the man who doesn't speak English who immediately went to the box and switched it from the "off" to the "on" position (I had turned it off to stop the grinding of the gears when I realized it wasn't working). Once we got past that hurdle they just shrugged and said I needed to replace the control box which they of course couldn't quote a price on (not that I would have them do it on a bet at this point). I can't speak to the costs as I have not yet received a bill though I'm expecting it to be higher than originally discussed just based on my experience with them thus far. Regardless, I will be disputing the charge no matter what it is. This firm is unresponsive, inconsistent and frankly incompetent. I would strongly advise AGAINST hiring them at any costs.
Description of Work: I hired Grasteit's Yard Care to come do some general repairs to my sprinkler system. They were also supposed to give me quotes on some yard clean up and ongoing yard work/maintenance. We found them through some advertisements that came to and/or were left at our house.

I really had a lot of problems with Grasteit's Yard Care and I don’t want anybody else to use them. I saw their advertisements and their truck in my neighborhood. What stood out to me was how bad they were. They never showed up on time. Any week they were supposed to come; sometimes they would come and sometimes they wouldn’t. Everything they planted died. I had a whole line of trees they had planted all along, and they all died. They said they would replace them, but they never did. They would come by and blatantly cut the grass so fast that they wouldn’t pay any attention to what they were doing. They were cutting the tops of the sprinkler heads and they were just so bad. They ran over a valve casing for the in-ground sprinkling system; it was heavy plastic they cut it into shreds, and didn’t even stop. They just left the pieces all over my yard. I am actually suing them; they were just horrible. They were expensive too. I felt that because they were a little more expensive maybe they are really good. I would absolutely not use them again in the future.
Description of Work: I used Grasteit's Yard Care to plant trees. They also cut the grass, fertilizers, aeration, and such things.
