My perception of the owner of Alpine Electronics is that he is not a stable person. I'm so thankful that he was only part of my life for 17 days. That said, they do in home repairs which is convenient because the TV in question is old and huge. But it's a high end Sony rear projection TV that has a fantastic picture and has run flawlessly every day for over 12 years. It's actually our parrot's TV we just watch it when we're home! The technician was courteous and removed his shoes on arrival. He quickly diagnosed the problem and it was a correct diagnosis. He pointed out that the part, a bounce-back splitter is difficult to obtain and we would need to be patient while the part was ordered from overseas. We were patient, the part came in three weeks later. In the meantime the power board had been taken to their shop to correct an issue Sony had notified field techs of back in 2000, no charge for this which was a nice touch. When the bounce-back splitter arrived they came the next day and installed it. I was a bit taken back when the technician twist connected the power lead from the TV's power board to the wire on the bounce-back splitter leaving it loose with bare wires twisted together and left exposed. As a power lead with considerable amperage this connection should have been silver soldered and sealed with durable heat shrink. About a week after the repair, horizontal blue and red lines started showing up in the top and bottom of the picture, a product of the flimsy connection noted above. They warranty their work for 30 days. I considered calling them back but the thought of dealing with the owner, who is NOT house broken, compelled me to open the cabinet and solder the power lead to the bounce-back splitter myself. The TV works beautifully but for $350.00 it sure would have been nice to have had them finish the job. Very few shops will do onsite repairs. Would I use them again? Not on an old rear projection TV. If we had it to do over again we would have shot the TV with a large caliber revolver and ordered a 60 inch LED flat panel that uses 1/3 of the power. This way we could entertain our bird energy efficiently in 3D 1080p HD! We love the 20th century TV but it is 91 years old in "computer years." Lesson learned. I think Alpine Electronics is probably a fine shop as long as you keep your expectations low, your bank account high, and like to be verbally badgered and have your time abused. They demonstrated consistent disdain for intelligent humans at this store, no joke! If all this sits well with you, you'll be fine using them. I however prefer quality service at an affordable price from people that respect me, my money, and most importantly my time.
