The Grout Doctor

Good. This was the only company who responded to my request for an estimate. One vendor on Angie's list called and said he would come over in a couple hours for an estimate. He never showed up or called.

Randy went the extra mile to assure we had customer satisfaction. He was professional and cared about the work he completed.

It did not go well, and I will never return. I expected to get a professional clean job that I never received even when they came out twice. I had a resurfaced bathtub that they did a few years ago, and the first guy tried to cover it up with caulking but I saw it and was identified as well by the 2nd guy. This is a worthless service that I could do myself without doing any damage. The second guy left blotches of caulking everywhere that I had to clean up and hopefully I wont disturber the fresh caulking for it needed to come off. Even though the caulk job is poor.

Overall I am satisfied. However, my shower has a plastic that seals the glass to the door frame. The technician asked me if I wanted to leave it or if I wanted him to remove, clean, and caulk with silicone. I told him I didn't know and left it up to his judgment. After he finished, I went up to assess before paying. The door looked terrible because he didn't do anything to it (in all fairness he thought he wouldn't seal water). The mold was still very evident and an eyesore. I asked him (since it technically was factored into my original bid) if he would go ahead and remove the plastic seal, clean it, and caulk with the silicone. He graciously did and came down when finished. My bad for not re-checking because it was no where near as nice as his other work in my shower. Basically, he half-assed it and didn't clean it before applying the caulk so the mold is showing through. He also did a poor job caulking. I know he can do better because he did do better on the rest of the shower before I asked him to go back. The other thing I would not recommend is doing the tile cleaning. While the tile grout looked great when he was done, it seriously took him 30 minutes to do 3 bathroom floors - they charged me $170 to do the floors and $150 to spend 2.5 hours re-caulking my shower. That's quite the variable hourly rate! Would I recommend these guys? Yes. I don't recommend for cleaning grout. Rip off. However, because caulking is generally a huge pain in the butt and has a big learning curve, I would hire them. I don't know if I will call them back to re-do. The tech lives in Logan and they basically have a $150 minimum to come out for a job to warrant the drive, which I understand. We'll see.

We went back to the bathroom to assess the situation and I asked him why at the time of the estimate he didn't identify this problem so that it wouldn't have been an issue. At this point he became hostile, aggressive and condescending in his conversation. Simultaneously chastising me and calling me sweetie. When I asked if I would have to wait another month for him to return he said at least that much time, honey! He was so rude and I felt like I was being bullied by a prima dona that I had to ask him to leave. I have never, ever, had this type of experience with anyone I have contracted with for service. I will not have this individual back in my home and I will never recommend them to anyone.

Everything he did exceeded my expectations. Nice work at a fair price.

My experience with them was excellent.

The work was excellent with much care given to cleaning the grout without damaging the tile. The bathroom looks like new although the tile is twenty years old. It is also a pleasure to work with a company that is stays on schedule, is punctual and does not leave a mess. I definitely will use the Grout Doctor for our second bathroom.

They were quick to respond and quick to get us into schedule. They came in, worked, cleaned up after themselves and left.

First let me say that this man was very nice. However, I am disappointed in the final product and I did not get what I thought I paid for. First, make sure that on the bid EVERY ITEM is listed individually. I got a bid for cleaning and sealing the kitchen and bathroom floors, cleaning and sealing the tub surround, and then a touch up repair on the tub surround. The kitchen floor was cleaned well. However, it does not seem to have been sealed. After the tub surround was cleaned (and NOT SEALED), he was ready to leave and I asked about the floor. He acted like that was not part of the bid, but said he would do it. The bathroom floor was then just wiped down - the grout was not cleaned or sealed. My bid stated and quot;clean seal 130 sq ftand quot; - that was my kitchen floor. Then and quot;hall bath clean seal touchupand quot; - that was supposed to cover the floor and tub surround. My mistake for not making it more detailed. Now I know. Second, he used a white grout for the repair, when the rest of the grout is a sand color. I understand that it is difficult to match grout exactly, but we were not even close. I asked him to come redo the repair. He came back and slapped some type of paint on it - looked horrible. I called and asked him to come back again to completely re-do it. He did...but still very very light compared to the original. Also, I am barely a month out and the grout is cracking in one place. At this point I have wasted so much time, I will not call again and will likely just do it myself. Lessons learned: 1 - make sure the bid is very specific. Make sure everything you are having done is itemized and detailed (i.e. what type of sealer will be used and what it will do). 2 - watch the contractor and make sure you see them perform each of the items on the bid. 3 - buy your own grout and have them install it.

Disappointed. The Grout Doctor should specify franchises and all should be rated if that's what they are doing--based on the reviews that are on the website it appears clients are reviewing the original owners.

Worked extremely hard and made it look like new again. Seems to be the only ones who provide this kind of service. Others wanted to paint the grout or retile the shower. Very fair price considering the numbers of hours required to do the work!

They were professional and quick and I was very pleased with the job. It was taking me a great deal of time to remove the old grout and they did it very quickly with the right tools. The end result was obviously done by experts, not amateurs.

Daniel and David were nice and patience to talk and explain the things for me. They tried their best to clean and seal the connection area where the tub and wall meet. I cannot complain about what they did for they charged. But it seems our bathroom is too clean to use Grout doctor to show their good job in cleaning. So, it didn't show any difference in terms of cleanness. ( I kind of want bathrooms sparkling. ) I guess that's my fault of not knowing whether their service will meet my needs. I won't use them because their service doesn't really fit our house. NOT because of they did anything wrong.

Came out gave a bid that was reasonable, scheduled a time for the work to be done, showed up on time, worked most of the day and left. OVERALL and AWESOME JOB. Would not hesitate to use again!

Wanted services from the company. Called and left a detailed message and no one ever called back.

I have used the Grout Doctor twice now to have them repair grout in a master shower that was installed poorly by the builder. To fix the real problem requires that I have the pan replaced. The Grout Doctor let me know the first time what the problem was and what would be required to fix the problem and the approximate cost. Danny also let me know what the temporary fix would be, a bandaid if you will, the would buy me time and prevent damage. | |I feel the quality of work and the price was competitive and I appreciated the honesty from my first visit. Danny did an excellent job and is a perfectionist. He was on time and left me with know mess. He also did a good job educating me on what he was doing and why. | | I will continue to use the Grout Doctor when I need grout and/or tile work repairs in my home. They are honest and professional.

I think they did a good job for me. Everything was fine. They weren't expensive, they seem reasonable and they were on time.

Contacted The Grout Doctor through their web site. Within a few hours was contacted by Juliana and set up an appointment for an estimate to replace missing grout in the shower, caulk around tub and general grout cleaning. The appointment was for two days later. Very impressed so far. David showed up for the estimate on time. So far so good. That is when it got strange. David was generally friendly but, at times, condescending. He split up the estimate into pieces so we could pick and choose what we'd like to get done which I appreciated. He then did a great job of giving us the impression that The Grout Doctor did not want our business. He asked if we were and quot;handyand quot; ourselves and recommended we do the caulking and grout replacement ourselves. I can appreciate someone trying to save us some money, but if I was looking to learn to grout and caulk myself, I wouldn't have called The Grout Doctor. We are looking to hire someone who knows what they are doing, knows what materials to use and will do a professional job. That wouldn't be me. During the estimate David also recommended we hire and quot;some chicksand quot; or get and quot;merry maidsand quot; to do the job. I didn't know they replaced grout and caulked around tubs. Overall I was disappointed in how unprofessional the estimate experience was. We will not be hiring The Grout Doctor nor recommending them to anyone.
