Restart Tree Care & Landscape

We have a lot of mature trees in our yard and many of them needed some pruning. I was planning to find a tree service in the early spring so I was somewhat vulnerable when the owner of Restart Tree Service came to the door. He is a very smooth salesman and talked me into quite a bit of work. I made the mistake of signing the agreement before I had a chance to check him out. Even though it was late in the afternoon, he started on one tree immediately and then said he would return early the following morning to continue, which he did. He brought a helper and a truck with a chipper. He would cut the limbs and the helper dragged them to the chipper. He worked very quickly and had the job done before noon. He only cut limbs he could reach from the ground and with a pole saw. For that price I expected attention to the trees at a much more detailed level and with some thinning in the tops. He called himself an arborist but I doubt that he is. He called a Blue Spruce tree a pine tree. It is a common mistake most people make but I would not expect that from a true arborist and he didn't seem to be too sensitive about how much wood he was removing from each tree. His whole approach was geared towards making as much money as he could as quickly as he could and to getting me committed by starting the work before I had an opportunity to think about the price or check him out. I had enough doubts about his work that I decided it was better to pay my stupid tax (I should never have signed the agreement that quickly) than to press him to cut any more on my trees. I think he did an okay job of opening up the center of the trees but I felt that I paid way too much for the work he did.

contacted mr. toa on the 27th of aug. his was my third bid, though not the lowest, heseemed to have a much better understanding of my requirements since one of thetrees was directly on top of my back awning that would not support anyone walkingon it. we agreed on a price and he began work on it the next morning. took abouta day and a half to get it all done and the yard cleaned up. very good work.
