He came promptly to look at the job and make a bid, however that was the last time he arrived on the correct day or time. I was getting very irratated that he continued to not show up day after day, but now I wish he hadn't shown up at all and I could have gotten someone who would do the job well. He tore out and started to lay tile the first day he actually showed. I had to ask him to make the seams in the tile on the floor and on the wall match when he did the second bath so he didn't mess it up like he did the first. Other than that he did an ok job on the tile, nothing to brag about. He broke the moulding around the door of the first bath, but didn't replace it. He just filled this huge hole with caulk (obviously his favorite tool because he used it to excess on everything). The vanity I bought was a hair too long and I needed to exchange it, which I said I would do, but he insisted on returning it to Home Depot so I let him. The vanity he chose to replace it was cheaper by at least $60 and he pocketed the difference. I also way over bought the tile for the floors and he loaded up the extra tile and took it home with him without asking if that was ok. I had to call him 4 times to get well over $100 dollars worth of tile back. I believe the only reason he actually returned it is because my brother called and used a threatening voice, if not threatening words, to get him to bring it back. But he kept the extra bag of mix for the adhesive even though I asked him to return it, as well. Since the medicine cabinets were larger than the previous cabinets I asked him to move the lighting fixture up on the wall in one bath. You would have thought he would have known to do that by himself, since you couldn't open the cabinet without smacking it into the lighting fixture. So he moved it up a couple of inches and tore a huge hole in the sheet rock. He thought an acceptable answer to the big hole was to cover it with 3 big hunks of sheet metal, after all, the frame on the mirror and the lighting fixture were both brushed nickle. It matched. He didn't bother to ask me first what I thought. As soon as he walked out of my house I was up on a stool tearing it off the wall before the appoxy set. I know I should have made him do it, but by then I just wanted him out of my house. So then I spent another $200 on an electrician to do the job correctly and I had to call a plumber because he did not install the new faucets correctly and they both leaked which warped the wood on my new vanities. He also installed the two very heavy medicine cabnets by driving screws right into the sheet rock. After I loosened the screws to take down his sheetmetal job the cabinet came loose and off the wall cracking my new sink. I knew he was gouging me on the price in the first place but he was my friend's brother and is pulling his life back together so being a sucker I thought I would help him out. Only off Angies list from now on.
Description of Work: Tore out old vanities, medicine cabinets, lighting fixtures, and flooring in two small (5 X 8) bathrooms. Layed tile in both baths. Reinstalled new vanities, medicine cabinets, lighting fixtures, and reset old toilets.
