 + -1 morePurchasing: he came down a lot in price, but wanted to close in 3 weeks. Our inspectors & financing were ready, but he could not finish all the loose ends. He delayed closing 3 times and even defaulted (we signed but it took him another two weeks to finish). He whined about providing a microwave despite agreeing to it in the purchase contract. There were numerous liens on the property from companies and contractors that had not received payment for their work and our title company demanded receipts for payment of all new work done on the house in the past 30 days. After closing he was nowhere to be found for the keys (we were rekeying the place anyways). After moving in several other issues came up: no hot water to the kitchen faucet, plugged washer drain, leaking kitchen plumbing, no closet door guides, creaky floors, flaking tub grout & concrete driveway, gloss varnish on slippery decks, etc. All in less than a month! Never returns our calls for the "1 year warranty" he promised.
Description of Work: Home tear down and reconstruction. but this is a project they completed over a 2 year period and we ended up purchasing after the property sat on the market for a year. Neighbors report that the plan for the home was a remodel, but Don backed a back-hoe into the main floor causing a collapse and so a new home had to be built on the foundation. They did not use dumpsters during the tear down, necessitating neighbors to call city council. They allowed/forced subcontractors to live in the garage (the health department had to be called in). Despite being on the market for a year basic items were never done: gutters, shower door, paint touch ups, bathroom mirrors, exterior balcony finish, painting the laundry room, mail box, house numbers, final city inspection (all completed due to our fantastic real estate agent). The entire schedule was confused and aimless leading to a 2 year time frame and 1 year on the market.
