The individual that came out was rude and seemed to not have time for my work. Very unprofessional.

It's hard to "grade" our experience. The paint job is beautiful! However, we did have a few issues. We were told the job would be done before we had to go out of town. It wasn't. We were told by Alex, the lead painter, to go ahead and go and when we return our home would be "beautiful." It wasn't. Not only wasn't the job done, as he had reported to the owner, but our home was a mess with trash and paint chips and in need of clean up because painters tape wasn't used nor was our furniture/appliances covered. We spoke with Brandon, the owner, who came to our home the next day. He had the crew back at our home to finish the job, do touch ups, and clean the following day. We were very impressed with Brandon. Not only did he take the time to come to our home, his concern to make sure we were happy with the job was very apparent. Like previously stated, we're very happy with the final paint job. We would definitely use this company again, but we would also insist that different painters come to our home.

The painter (Alex) was on time and started right away. He started with covering my bed with a plastic cloth then protected everything else that wasn't to be painted. He started with the ceiling then the four walls, one of which was to be a accent wall. Alex was very professional and friendly. The whole job took about 7 hours. Keep up the great work.

Update: 2 August, 2015 12:47pm Submitting a review to Angie's list resulted in prompt contact from Chris, a representative for Five Star Painting. After much discussion, I have come to the conclusion that there was a lack of communication from all parties leading to frustration for all concerned. Five Star Painting worked quickly to resolve the situation to our satisfaction and we were able to pay for all services performed. Bottom line, as is true in so many situations, there was a lack of communication and expectations and realities were ill defined. Five Star Painting provided quality work, at an honest price. Original Review: 1 August 2015 After multiple attempts to reach Chris or "the owner" by phone we have decided to send the following letter by certified mail. 1 August 2015 Five Star Painting 1845 E Meadow Dr. Cottonwood Heights, UT 84121 RE: Quote 4953 To Whom It May Concern: We received a quote for the following: ? Pressure wash the exterior of our home ? Paint the ceiling in the master bathroom and provide the paint ? Paint the ceiling in a child?s bedroom and provide the paint ? Paint the ceiling in the family room and provide the paint ? Remove the crackle paint from a wall in the middle bathroom and repaint, with paint provided by the customer, to match the other painted walls. o The bathroom was quoted as being very labor intensive because so much sanding would need to be completed All services where completed by Wednesday 22 July 2015. The pressure wash and three ceilings were satisfactory, job well done. The bathroom however was not completed satisfactorily. Mark notified Chris, within 24 hours of the completion that the job was not performed correctly: 1. There are spots on the wall where you can still see crackling 2. The wall was not sanded smooth to match the other wall 3. The wall was textured and painted so now it doesn?t match the other painted walls in the bathroom Chris apologized that the work was done incorrectly and we were told he would get back to us, we reminded him, again, that we were under a time line, as our home was being prepared to be put on the market. We told him the real estate agent would be taking pictures of our home on Tuesday 28 July, 2015. We sent pictures to Chris of the paint that was still crackling, of the textured wall and of the smooth walls in the bathroom. We offered to have the painter come and texture the other very small area to match the area that had been done and we would provide the paint, we felt like this would be a quicker and less expensive option but none of those options were acceptable. We did not hear back from Chris until Saturday he stated that he had to contact the owner to discuss a plan to fix the issue. We were told that there was no way the error could be corrected prior to Wednesday 30 July 2015 as your company has more important things to attend to on Monday and Tuesday. Chris told Mark he would call him on Sunday with a firm time. Mark tried to call the Chris several times Monday and Tuesday but received the response that the mailbox was full. We did not hear from Chris again, Mark called again on Wednesday morning and was told the painter was on the way, but Mark told him never mind as our house was staged and we had a showing scheduled for 2pm Wednesday afternoon and 2 showings between 6-7pm Wednesday evening. Mark asked Chris to let the painter know not to come, the painter still came and left when Mark would not grant access to the house. Mark asked Chris to readjust the quote so we can pay for the work that had been completed. To that Chris responded he would have to get with the owner and hung up. It is now Saturday 1 August 2015 @12:45 in the afternoon, we have still not heard back from your company. I called your main office number and spoke with someone, on a recorded call, who told me she would escalate our concern to the owner and we should hear back within two business days. I do not think we are being unreasonable, we are simply asking for a fair price for the work that was performed and the labor for sanding and prepping the bathroom be removed. The bottom of our quote states something to the effect of payment is due within 15 days of service, and interest will be charged if not paid. If the matter is taken to court we would be responsible for court cost etc. We are trying to avoid any of this, but have been frustrated with the lack of communication between Chris, ?the owner?, the workers who have a language barrier and ourselves. The estimate appointment went great and the quote was reasonable, but everything went downhill from there. The person who showed up to paint our fascia came without a ladder, and had to borrow our ladder which he subsequently spilled paint on. His prep work was poor, he only scraped half of the old fascia off and didn't prime the raw wood, so the finished product is half one color, half another instead of a uniform white. He also left his garbage from his lunch break and all the scraped paint in my yard and driveway, I had to rake and sweep it all up myself and still find pieces of old paint in my flower beds months later. He also got paint on the side of the house and on our brand new driveway concrete since no tarps or protective coverings of any kind were used. He suggested that I get paint to match my stucco color and cover up the spots, but after I insisted it get cleaned up before he left he removed the paint from the stucco since it was still wet enough, but not from the driveway. We had communication problems throughout the day, but the painter admitted at the end that the job didn't look right and said he'd come the next day to put another coat of paint on to try to fix the two-toned result. He never returned. I called several times within the few weeks afterward to try to get someone out to address the problems with my job, was told someone would call me to schedule a re-paint, but wasn't called back. One time when I was told someone would be out to evaluate my job and repaint, but they did not show up on the appointed day. Finally, months later, I managed to get hold of a manager through email. They came to look at the paint job and scheduled someone to come out to repaint it. When this painter arrived, he did not seem to understand what he had been called to my house for, and I had to explain the problems again. Thankfully he was able to finally remove the paint from my driveway. However, he was not able to repaint the fascia because the original painter had taken the paint he had made with him (I guess they didn't have time to go get more paint?), and was no longer with the company. I understand that summer is probably a very busy time for them to have to schedule in another day for someone to fix the first person's poor work, but having to wait 4 months is ridiculous. I will not be doing business with Five Star again.

Very professional and prompt. Painters were all pleasant, cleaned up well, and were respectful and responsive. Chris and Adam really took responsibility for every element of the work. On the 2nd day of painting, there was a miscommunication about the colors in the rooms. I let the painters and Chris know, and they got it fixed right away, including re-painting the areas that needed it, right away and stayed on schedule. Very professional.

Total flake I cancelled and need my money back

The gables were a mess, with a lot of peeling paint. They showed up on time for the bid, and showed up on time the day they got started on the job. The job was finished on schedule, for about half the cost that I expected. It looks great and they cleaned up well after themselves. I worked with Chris and Adam, and they were both friendly and professional. I would recommend them, and definitely use them again for future painting needs.

Brandon and his crew were prompt and did a great job with painting our house. This was a very complex home with wood trusses, 25 foot ceilings in some areas and tight spaces. We were impressed with the quality of work and care taken to ensure wood wasn't painted, etc. Brandon kept in contact with us and wanted to be sure we were happy with the work. I would highly recommend them for your painting needs.

We couldn't have been happier with every aspect of the work. Five Star Painting scheduled our small job quickly, showed up on time. The owner was friendly, accommodating, and professional. The quality of the work was extremely good. They've given us a reasonable bid for painting the rest of our house, and we'll be using them for this as well. Highly recommended!

Went above and beyond! Came on time and worked very efficiently

The painters arrived right on time and the job was done well.

William the painter is excellent when it comes to quality and detail. While my coupon was for one coat of paint only, it did not adequately cover the original color which was very dark, but he gave me a second coat anyway. The fine edges and professional workmanship are readily apparent.

It was fine though not exceptional.

Five Star offered competitive pricing and the owner was professional and responsive. At times we were a frustrated with the people who actually did the work. The lead painter often showed up late and sometimes not at all. We heard excuses like the paint wasn't ready, car trouble and sick kids. But I suspected they were just busy working other jobs. So when he did come there were times when it seemed like our job was being rushed. Having said that, overall we were happy considering the price. I'd recommend Five Star and use them again, but with the advice of making sure the workers show up when they say and take their time with the job. The owner was very attentive and can straighten that out if it starts to happen to you.

It went well, the painter was very nice. They were on time.

Did a great job! painted all the walls, ceilings, baseboards, crown molding, and doors. Did all wall repairs, caulking etc. accent walls painted and chair rail installed. Looks like a new house. we don't even want to put pictures on the walls.

Quality was good other than painters painted over a garage window (yes, the panes of the window) and painted the hardware on two of the exterior doors. Both of those things were bizarre to say the least. Other than that, the paint job was good. I'd suggest that you be present the entire time painting is being done. Workers needed a lot of supervision (got confused as to what paint was to go where. Didn't seem that difficult to me since I wasn't changing the color of the house or the trim. If you can supervise, I think you'll be happy, but you have to point out even the obvious.

We have been DIY'ing our remodel and decided that we didn't have time to paint the ceilings. We needed to move in fast and they were wonderful with squeezing us in the schedule. Even with a two week wait they did whatever they had to in order to get us in within 3 days. The painters themselves were very polite and helpful. We had paint spots all over the ceiling from doing the walls and they did extra applications at no cost to achieve a perfect finish. I couldn't be more satisfied and am already planning on using them again in the future.

The did great work! I was very happy Got a whole small bedroom done walls, ceiling and trim in 3 hours. I would have them back in a second.

When the salesperson (Rhonda) came by to make a bid, I specifically requested that all 3 surfaces and trim be power-washed, that all three surfaces and trim be primer-coated, and all three surfaces and trim receive two coats of finish paint. I received a phone message from the salesperson that she had scheduled the painting to occur on the following Monday. While I was glad to get the job going I was never consulted about a specific day. When the two painters arrived, I gave them 3 cans of Sherwin-Williams paint (with color number and name) to match the rest of the house: a white for top trim, a tan for the underside of the roof overhang, and a brick red for the walls. They didn't use the paint I had given them (which was fine) but bought new paint of the matching colors. They spend several hours one day masking off the trim and edges and one worker did some hand scraping of the worst spots on two of the three wall surfaces while the other painted the top trim. It rained the next day but the two painters arrived again on Wednesday. They spent about three hours or so giving the three wall surfaces two spray coats of brick red, one after another, cleaned up and left. There was never a power-washing of the surfaces or trim. The surfaces were not prime-coated except the small spots on two of the three surfaces that had been hand scrapped. While two coats of finish paint were sprayed on the three wall surfaces, the unpainted wood around the door frame on the house south wall was only painted with one coat of primer or white but not finished. The wood grain still shows through. When I wrote the owner of the company (Brandon) with these concerns, he offered to reduce the bill by $350 for not power-washing, not finishing the door frame, but said they don't routinely prime surfaces so that was that, even though I had requested that when the bid was made. I paid them $1354.07 for less than I had contracted for and am left with an inferior paint job for the long term.

the painters did a good job. we needed some finishing touches which they did immediately. we would recommend this company.

The contractor that did the work was very professional. The first patch job did not match the existing texture and was not to the contractors or our liking. The contractor redid the patch so that the texture of the existing ceiling matched the patch. Once the patch work was perfect and dried, he repainted the entire ceiling. Very detailed oriented, responsive to our needs and professional. He covered all the carpeting and moved some furniture and covered the rest of the furniture. Once complete, he made sure all the furniture was placed back in its original location. Would use this company again for any of our future painting needs.

After a brief miscommunication Brandon and the crew bent over backwards to make sure everything went perfectly. They worked so hard and if it wasn't exactly how we wanted it they would do it again. Their bid was thousands of dollars cheaper than other bids we had obtained. I was also impressed at how responsive they were to changes we made. If you are looking for the best call Brandon and his crew. We have been very happy with the work they did. This is our fifth major remodel of a house and we have seen many painters. Call Five Star!

It went very well. They were on time and made sure they understood all that I wanted. The finished job looked exceptional, very polished. When I first contacted them online, they contacted me within 15 minutes! The estimator was very personable and professional. I know I got a great price because we had three estimates done. It was a very pleasant and enjoyable experience.
