Like the other reviewer, everything was great through the sales process. Go to their showroom, pick stuff out, they come out and measure, they are very professional and very responsive during the sales cycle. Delivery and installation is when the problems start. Just like the other reviewer, parts are missing, things are on backorder, 6 week delay to get the countertops done, even though we picked out the slab at the stone company so we know the slab was available. One of the cabinets was built at the wrong height - too tall. No problem, they can have the installer cut the cabinet to the right size but they'll need to order new doors from the manufacturer - another 4 week delay. The installer comes out with new doors but there was only one door when there should have been two. What happened to the other door? Nobody knows. They have to reorder the other door, another 4 week delay. The countertops finally get installed and we immediately notice that the seam is horribly large, 1/4" wide in some places where the granite chipped (see photos - and these are after the "repair"), there are major chips on the profile - 1" wide in some places (see photos - after the "repair"), that have been patched with epoxy where you can see someone's thumbprint in the epoxy and the color is horrible. There was a 3" gash cut in the stone that was obviously machine-cut and appears to be repaired by some patched-in piece of stone and epoxy (see photos). We called the salesman and he said, "oh, you need to talk to our countertop department " - basically acting as if it's not his problem anymore. We call the countertop department manager, he never responds. More calls and messages. Finally the countertop manager calls us back and tries to tell us that our counters were "industry standard" even though he hasn't even seen the problems yet! He finally sends a guy out to "repair" the seams and the gouges on the profile of the counter but there is nothing they can do to repair the 3" gash mark that they made in the slab. The repairs still look horrible. We took before and after photos and emailed the sales guy with pictures of the problems, he says, "I'll forward it on to our countertop department". Again, not really his problem any more - no effort to help get it ironed out. No response from the countertop folks - even though it's all the same company. We email pictures to the warranty department, no response from them. We started the sales process with Excel in mid-October. It is now almost February and we're still going around on the horrible countertops and still missing a door for the cabinets. BUYER BEWARE!!
Description of Work: We ordered kitchen cabinets and granite countertops through Excel - invoice totaled about $27K.

They have been an absolute nightmare to deal with!!!! We ordered our cabinets the beginning of November. We went to their showroom, sat down with a salesman picked everything out including granite and drawer and cabinet pulls. Salesman came out and measured, and marked out where all the cabinets were going to go. We discussed at length, a built in entertainment center and we were told that this is something they do. All of the cabinets were to be hickory, including the the shelves on the entertainment center. This was the beginning of November. We were not told at this time that the cabinets that were being ordered would be an inferior product, or that the company that they get them from would take an extra four weeks to ship them, or that the pulls that we selected would be back ordered until the beginning of March. We were told 6-8 weeks, period. At the beginning of January, eight weeks after our order was placed, I called to schedule installation. I was told at that time the cabinets weren't in, and they couldn't figure out when they would be. I was told they would keep me updated, they didn't at all. I had to call several time just to get status updates. Finally, I was given January 27 as an installation date. I was told it would take four days. We put them on the schedule for Jan. 27, and gave them five days. Jan. 27th rolls around. No one shows up that morning. I call Excel at 11:00 A.M and was told that no one was coming that day, but they would put their fastest guy on it the next day. I was irritated, but what can you do?! Next day, cabinet installer shows up late morning and got to work. Finally! He got kitchen cabinets installed (except for island, of coarse that wasn't ready yet) He installed bathrooms and the laundry room. He was fast and did a good job. I don't feel it was his fault that there were about one fourth of the drawer and cabinet pulls that were "backordered", or that a panel/door in the kitchen was measured incorrectly, or the entertainment center was...(keep reading). Then the entertainment center.......I noticed when the cabinets arrived, the uppers were just cabinets without the doors on them. I called our salesman to verify that they weren't going to install them like this, these are supposed to be shelves, that they are going to be the focal point of our living room. The interior of the shelves does not even closely resemble hickory. they are a veneer that looks pink when put next to hickory. He then told me that with the company that makes the cabinets, there are some things that we just have to live with, this was one of them. This was not acceptable to me. I was not told when we ordered the cabinets and planned for the entertainment center, that the visible shelves would not match the rest of the wood. It is ridiculous that we paid nearly $7000 for this entertainment center that would be an eyesore. I told him I was rejecting the order. Our salesman then agreed to have the interior of the shelves "skinned" with hickory. And they would get the glass ordered for the TV components (shouldn't that have been done originally?). We were scheduled for the entertainment center to be finished, pulls to be installed, and granite to be re-installed 3/3/14 (Monday). What a surprise, no one showed up! Finally, after four messages, someone returned our calls. We were told no one was coming, after we waited around until 11! Wasn't anyone going to let us know? We were re-scheduled for Friday. Then someone calls to say that they need to re-schedule for 3/21/14. THIS WAS IT!!!!! I lost me mind!!!! I called and let them have it! I was then told that they could come on Thursday (3/6/14). That brings us to today....The rest of the pulls were installed, the glass doors were put on the entertainment center and the inside of the shelves were supposed to be skinned today. The cabinet installer brought in the veneer, IT DIDN'T MATCH AT ALL!!!!! The saga continues! This company wasn't the cheapest out there, I wish I would have known that this company was so horrible!!!! I hope that this post will be read and save someone from the nightmare that we are going through! DO NOT EVER HIRE Excel Cabinets!!!!!
Description of Work: We hired this company to do all of the cabinets in our home. They have been an absolute nightmare to deal with!!!!
