Description of Work: Michael Ensign refinished two maple chairs to their original finish and had his upholsterer 'guy' make all new cushions for both chairs. I received a very good discount on the fabric and the craftsmanship from both was absolutely top notch. I will use Ensign Fine Finishing again...and again...

Description of Work: Ensign repaired and refinished two heirloom end tables my wife had received from her grandmother. I had fallen on one table and broken three of the legs off. I thought it there was no way it could be repaired. I found Michael here on Angie's List. I sent him pictures of the table and he reassured me that it could be fixed. After meeting with him and hearing of his experience and seeing his work I decided to have him also refinish the matching end table. Michael was sure to keep us updated on his progress. When the tables were done I was amazed at the quality of work. I was also amazed at the charge for the work, it was so affordable. Michael really appreciates pieces of furniture with a history! We are already thinking of other pieces that we can take to him.

Description of Work: In the process of moving, my childre (bless their hearts) had almost disposed of broken oak chairs that went with my kitchen oak table. I took them to Ensign Fine finishing and ended up with 6 oak chairs that looked like new. He even had to have some of the dowels replaced, cut to match the others. I could never have found chairs to match and feel I ended up with a 'new' kitchen set in awsome condition. One other project they are going to do in the future, my sister moved in and suffered severe deep scratchs on a black dining room set. We have received a quote and will be scheduling that project soon. Thanks again to an awesome company with great talent!

Description of Work: I purchased a floor model from a local furniture store. It is a beautiful dining room table,but was a bit 'shop worn". The salesperson assured me it could be polished by a vendor he suggested . When I spoke to this person, he was short & somewhat dismissivive but said he would get back to me to set a time for the work. I had to call him again,& then he actually said he wasn't that interested in doing the job based on my description. At that point I called Michael from Ensign's. He is the owner,& was prompt,polite,& did an amazing job for much less than the other vendor quoted me. Next time I go straight to Angie's List for vendors & service!

Description of Work: This is a second installment in the saga of a boxer pup who likes to chew on the posts of an antique bed footboard. During approx. Sept. 2008, Ensign refinished the footboard from our chewing pup. I submitted a report to Angies list during that time regarding the great work done. This is now a followup (and hopefully the last) report on our pups chewing activities which resulted in the same footboard, same damage and another trip to Ensign for repair. The work and service was again excellent. The only difference was the price as this time I was charged nothing for the work. Now that is truely service that will leave you with a smile on your face..

 + -1 moreI called Michael Ensign and described the project. He scheduled a time (entirely around my schedule) to come to my home and see the table. He examined the table and sent an estimate by mail and by e-mail. Michael's price was less than the other quotes I obtained from people on Angie's List, and he seemed the most qualified (he does not employ others to work on the project . . . he does the work himself); therefore, I hired him for the job. Michael set a date and time (around my schedule) to pick up the table. He had to work quickly to get the necessary parts ordered. He counseled me on color selection and invited me to be as involved as I wanted in the process. He is an artist. He repaired the wood and had to paint on the wood grain with a turkey feather. He finished the table and delivered it exactly as promised. Michael is perfectly punctual, completely courteous, and persistently professional. I find myself looking around the house to find other projects for this genius.
Description of Work: A table that has been in our family for nearly 100 years needed to be refinished and refurbished. The table is made of oak, but there was water damage and there were cuts and scratches in the table. One of the leafs and one of the legs were broken. The slides needed to be replaced entirely. The entire table had to be taken apart to its bare elements; then it needed to be stripped, sanded, refinished, and reassembled. Parts had to be ordered and the project had to be done for a birthday presentation; therefore, the timing was critical.

 + 0 moreThe job was perfect from start to finish, I can't believe there is a craftsman out there that does his quality of work. He showed up when he said he would (this is very important to me), communicated well, and got the job done on time. He had some challenges with the French doors as they had been in storage for quiet some time and had been water damaged. He was able to repair and refinish them to look beautiful again.
Description of Work: I had nine interior doors stripped, sanded, and refinished with a custom color for a restoration project in a building built in 1929. The goal was to restore the doors to their original mahogany color. Michael did a fabulous job, and the finish was so beautiful it felt like glass!
