Elegant Hardwood Floors

Rob and Jen were very responsive and I felt they're very knowledgable about wood floor. Initially we just want to refinish the hardwood floors under the carpet. After removing the carpet, They found out the current floor was not good and too thin to be refinished. So, We agreed to install new hardwood floors on top of the current floors with the new pricing. They were able to adjust the schedule and do it right for us: including the time for getting the wood planks conditioned in the rooms before actually installing them. We're satisfied with the end results. The old floor squeaked and the new floor doesn't. It feels smooth and steady to walk on the new floors. The connection between the bedroom and the hall way is seamless. After the fall /winter, with the nature expansion and shrink, the floor stays smooth. If we need new floor work, we'll use Elegant Hard floors again.

They did everything they said they would. They were on time each and every time they came. They took care of every issue we had in a timely manner. I can't recommend them enough. If I have to have work on my floors I will call them again.

Jen came to measure, explain the process, and give us a price. It took 3 days in all. First, they sanded the floor to remove the old finish and color. There was very little dust; we were very surprised. Then they applied several color samples for us to chooses from. After the stain was applied, they let it dry overnight. The following 2 mornings, they applied the finish. That smelled really strong, so we had to open the windows during the day and sleep in the basement at night. We were very pleased with the results, we just wish we had chosen a stain that was a little darker. Jen was very professional and so was her team. Thanks!

If you want someone to work on hardwood floors for you this is the place to call. This company was excellent from the first phone call to the last minute they left our home. Jennifer responded quickly and came to our home to give us an estimate. She is very knowledgeable about hardwood flooring. Very professional person to work with. She gave us a detailed copy of what work her company would do and how much it would cost. The flooring refinishers were polite, prompt and knew what they were doing. It was amazing to watch the team at work, because they were very skilled. The floor looks amazing. I would delighted to recommend their services. Without a doubt this is the company to take care of your floors. I know you will be as satisfied as we were.

The company contacted me immediately, and set up an appointment to look at the job. They showed up spot on time and measured the job. They set a date, and the job was beautifully finished right on time. They gave me a finish that cost a little extra, but is exactly what I wanted--a super tough water based finish that will not immediately turn yellow like a polyurethane finish would. The floor is so beautiful I can hardly stop looking at it. A fabulous job, and I will definitely hire them again. Had I known how great the company was, I would have bought another of the coupons and had them do my upstairs bathroom. I am in love,

Unbelievably smooth! They showed up on time and worked really hard to finish on schedule. They stuck exactly to the bid and were quick to respond to any emails or phone calls. Very professional. The completed job was much more quality work than we experienced with the last company we used in our old house. The trim around fireplaces and entry tile is fantastic.

I had a problem with another vendor and called Elegant Hardwood. He advised me that his schedule was full and that he couldn't make it out for a few days. I explained that my problem was time sensitive and offered to pay him for the consultation. He managed to make it out the same day. His advice was clear and extraordinarily helpful. He was exceptionally knowledgeable and although I didn't end up needing to use him to fix the snafu, I will definitely call him the next time I need work done.

Our floor looks beautiful. We had water damage and some floor was replaced and the entire floor refinished.

Horrible! I explained that I have been dealing with an insurance claim for almost a year and needed my floors fixed. For this person to waste my time was poor customer service & ridiculous.

Robert was very quick to respond to my request for a bid - and then, unlike the other bidders, he actually followed up the next day to let me know how quickly his crew could come work on my floor. They came to my house in just a few days, and his main man, Archie, is a true artisan. The work he does is amazing, and he is very picky about the finished product. He isn't afraid to rework a spot on the floors if it's needed, and he wants to make sure the work is satisfactory to the client. Very personable, and he stayed with my project and completed the work in a very reasonable amount of time. My floor was pitted from a previous very bad refinish job by inexperienced people, and Archie and his son were able to sand it out and make it look like a brand new floor. It's amazing to just look at it, it's so beautiful. Robert has a good crew, and he and his men know what they are doing. I would use them again and again and will recommend them to any of my friends or clients who may have similar flooring needs.

Entire process took less than a week. He gave us sound advice on caring for the floor, future and current maintenance, along with best market products to use. New floor boards matched old exactly (red oak). There was some small separating in a spot from drying out. They promptly came back, filled and sanded, and no one can tell. They educated us on every little thing. I feel very well informed about my wood flooring. I would use them again.

My wife and I have been very impressed with Robert and his crew. He came out to see what he had. Our old floors were too thin to refinish. Robert gave me a great quote, compared to some of the others. They came when they said they would come. They did a high quality job. They were helpful in picking out stains and talking through all of the decisions on sealers, etc. We have dealt with a lot of contractors on our remodel project, if only all of them could be as good as Robert and his crew. We would definitely recommend him to anyone.

I called many places to compare prices and their's was the best. I felt like Robert didn't communicate with me very well, he was condescending at times, but my floor is beautiful and the guy that did all the labor was awesome.

Robert helped us find engineered hardwood that matched the discontinued wood floors in our adjacent rooms. He found the same species, size and color, but a higher quality. Robert met the distributor at our house when the floors were delivered a few days prior to make sure everything was in order and to open up the boxes so the material could acclimate to our home. Matt, the installer arrived the afternoon before installation to drop off all his equipment so that he could get started on time the next morning. Matt was right on time and all business; fast and efficient. He is highly skilled, but just wanted to get in and out. Because I work from home, this was very much appreciated. Matt installed plywood subfloor before laying down the hardwood. Because our new floors are higher than the old, he carefully cut the bottoms of our door trim so that the new floors could slide right under for a clean professional look without the need for shoe molding. Our new floors are lovely! We couldn't be more pleased. We have more flooring work to be done in other parts of our home. We will definitely contact Elegant Floors for that job too.

Robert and his team were terrific to work with. He has a lot of experience in different types of wood and finishes and spent time with us upfront making sure we understood how different wood would wear over the years. He also suggested hand scrapping which looks amazing. With small children it should hide scratches and wear and tear over the years. The actual demo of the tile and carpet turned our house into a disaster zone. Robert was very transparent about this part of the project and gave us suggestions on how to manage through this part of the process. He worked around our schedule as well. Each day his team would clean up the dust and old carpet/tile and made the rooms as livable as possible. The installation went very quickly and there was a lot of attention to detail. Toward the end, the project had to be put on hold a day or 2 as they did not like the look of some of the pieces of wood and wanted to get better ones. This was a sign of perfection to me. Once the floors were done, Robert helped us understand how best to care for the floors and explained the fading effect of the sun. Again his experience came through as he gave ideas on how to prolong the life of the floors to maximize our return on our investment. Overall we had a top notch experience and I would highly reccomend them to anyone, no matter how big or small the project.

Great experience. Robert was responsive and promt. Bid was great, lower than other companies we had looked at. We had the idea that we might want to stain or darken the natural color of the floors but Robert cautioned against is as birch is tricking when stained. In the end, the sanding and refinishing process did darken the floors slightly and they look great. I think if we would have stained them, we woudl have been disappointed. Work was performed over President's Day weekend when we were out-of-town. Crew was clean and thorough. Took precautions to protect the rest of the house from dust and chemicals. Arrived home to a clean house and beautiful floors. Great job!

Robert responded to my request for a bid within hours. I was very impressed. He came out a few days later and gave us a bid which was very competitive. I would have been worried about accepting the lower bid if I hadn't found his name on Angie's list. On the first day, he came out and introduced the sub-contractors who would be working on our job. They were very personable and punctual, making the four day process much easier than I expected. After they finished up, Robert inspected the job and received the final payment. At that time, I asked him to fill a couple of small gaps that were left after the refinish. I was very satisfied when he left but a few days later, I noticed that there were a few more gaps that I had not noticed before I gave him the final check. Even though he had already been paid and I was being a perfectionist by wanting them filled, he came out to my house and filled them. He also gave me a jar of putty that I can use when small gaps appear in the future.

Elegant hardwood floors refinished approximately 756 square feet of existing hardwood floors. The process included sanding, sealing, and then applying two layers of top coat. I had a father and son team that did the work and they did a great job. They were on time, did quality work, left the work site clean each night, and finished on time. The only negative comment I have is that the floors still squeak. I had three estimates and one of the companies (not Elegant) mentioned that he would try to get the squeaking stopped or reduced. I didn't think to ask if Elegant provided this same service but they obviously didn't as the floors still squeak.

Robert was fantastic. He came out to look at the floors and give me an estimate. Because of the shape that my floors were in (not good) he recommended a thorough sanding/refinishing four day project. However, I have a dog and a cat, and keeping them off almost the entire first floor of the house was not feasible, so Robert came up with a less in-depth 1-day solution. The floors look amazing, and my animals survived! Robert called the day before the confirm, and was highly professional and courteous.

Robert gave us a realistic and detailed explanation of what would be involved in the repair work, and the estimate was reasonable. We were so pleased with the entire process and have already recommended Elegant Hardwood to a friend. We love our floors cannot believe how beautiful they look.

Robert arrived on time for the initial visit and provided a written estimate before he left. When Elegant Flooring began work, their installer arrived on time each day, and was very professional in every way. Dust control was amazing; we had very little cleanup at the end of the project. We continued to live in the home while they worked until the staining and finish coats were applied. That required one night away from home. The project began on Monday and was finished on schedule by early afternoon on the following Monday.

We contacted Robert to see if he would even be willing to do our floors as we live quite far out of their service area. He was very willing to help us and we made arrangements for the appointment. Robert was very prompt, and very helpful in showing us our choices. We have maple hardwood, and we were not aware that it is difficult to change the color. But change it we did. Robert gave us a bid, and it was so affordable that we signed up on the spot. (Of course, Angie's list helped us be confident). The week they worked on our floors, they had to travel back and forth daily about 60 miles one way. They were always on time. Very neat and clean and after the floor was finished, Robert drove BAC K to our house on a Saturday morning to help us move our fridge back so we didn't damage the flooring. Our floors are exceptional. We could not be happier. They are more beautiful than we ever imagined they could be. The job was done promptly, professionally and went very smoothly. Our thanks to Robert at Elegant Hardwood floors and to Angie's List for helping us find them and give us the confidence to use them. We have a stack of Robert's business cards at the ready should anyone else need a referral!

The staff at Elegant is top notch. Robert met with us to review our options. He made recommendations and explained the pros and cons of various wood varieties. He was always punctual and professional. Jennifer helped us with our timeline. She was frank and accommodating as possible. She also installed our new baseboards and did a great job. The other employees, Matt and Will, were fantastic. Matt is a master at what he does. He had to lay wood around a difficult piece of irregular shaped stone and we are thrilled with his work. Our floors are beautiful. I can't say enough about Jennifer's excellent communication style. She always kept us informed and walked us through a difficult remodel. I knew exactly what days I would be without certain appliances, when I needed to keep the kids out of the house, when employees would be arriving and how long each project would take. She also gave us clear instructions on how to best care for our new wood floor. This company is a gem. I would use them again in a heartbeat.

They restained and then put 2 coats of polyurethane on top. My floor are stunning! They are even more beautiful than when they were new. They were so professional and trust-worthy.

We received a few different quotes from flooring specialist, and a few general contractors. The contractors had us running all over to Home Depot, Carpet One and Lumber Liquidators to find the right color. Unfortunately, we were having trouble finding a color in stock in oak that we liked. We called Elegant Floors for a quote and Robert showed up the same day to provide us with an estimate. Robert told us our best bet would be to lay the floors, and then they could stain it any color we wanted. We went with his company, and we were very glad that we did. The price quoted was in the middle of the range of the estimates we received, was it was definitely fair. The white oak was shipped a week early and allowed to acclimate. We had removed all of our baseboards in that time, as we wanted to remove the paint and get them put back up when the flooring was done. When Robert said his employee was going to be at our house at 8:30 a.m. to start, they were right on time (and everyday after that.) Robert's employee did an excellent job in laying the floors, and we will not even need 1/4 corner round to cover any gaps when we get our molding back on. It will fit right on top of the flooring against the wall... unbelievable craftsmanship and attention to detail. When it came time to choose the stain, they put approx. 6 different stains right on the floor for us to choose from. We went with a natural color, and it looks great with our trim. We did not remove the baseboards in the other rooms and we initially went with 1/2 corner round. We didn't like the way the corner round jutted into the smaller rooms, and Robert had his employee's come back in and change it out for 1/4 corner round. This was done for a resonable fee, which we gladly paid. Overall, we are very satisfied with their attention to detail, punctuality and level of work.
