I couldn't be happier with how this project went. I would recommend Cottonwood Custom to anyone without any worry that is was a bad recommendation. Tim communicated with me throughout the project. He talked to me when I was home, he called me about any changes or decisions I needed to make, and just generally kept me informed about the progress of the project. Tim impressed with his honesty and trustworthiness and I am not easily impressed. I also liked all of his team. They were polite, professional, thoughtful and kind to me. I never felt uncomfortable having them around. They also worked very hard to get the job done on time. Step one of the project was to meet with Tim Normand and get an estimate. Not only did Tim give a reasonable estimate, he also helped me improve the design of my new decks. He seems to have a flare for design. Step Two was to remove the old decks and haul away the debris. I am happy to say that Tim's team worked hard to avoid destroying my yard during this process. They hauled everything away and cleaned up after themselves. :) Step three was to build my new decks. My old decks were definitely not up to the current codes, so when I watched Tim and his team set the foundation posts for the decks in cement and build the appropriate support beams I was impressed and very happy. Everything is obviously up to code! The redwood we used is beautiful. Step four was to stain the decks. Tim suggested his favorite transparent stain and it is gorgeous! I love the color. At the end of the project Tim checked with me to make sure everything was the way I wanted it to be and let me know I could call him if there were any problems. I give Cottonwood Custom five stars *****.

Im not an easy reviewer. I think folks should earn their merits because they provide a quality service. Ive recently moved back into our family home that my parents purchased in 1962. For the last 20 years, the general upkeep and maintainance had been lacking. Nowhere did this show more than on the large deck and stairs on the rear of the house. The wood was to chipped, cracked and paint chipping that it wasnt even comfortable to be out there. Also, I decided I wanted to add a new section to match the old decking so that it was more useable. The project involved sanding down to raw wood, securing loose boards, hand sanding the stairs and removing an existing iron railing and re-working it so that it could be used again once the new addition was added. I got several bids. Basically the pricing was about the same. I chose to work with Tim because of he responded to my requerst immediately and I had a bid within a few days . He seems very knowledgable. There were several ideas in my head of things I wanted to do during this refinishing process, many of them involving the choice of stain and color. Tim was amazingly patient and talked me through the pros and cons of each choice. He was not afraid to tell me if there was something I had in my head to do to the deck that was just wrong. His crew were friendly, efficient and CLEAN. There was sanding going on for a full day... 3 guys with different machines.. Tim's crew made sure the windows in the house were shut and did a great job of cleaning of the dust once they were finished. Each day I got a clear progress report and if there were any surprises or expected delays. They built the new addition, which involved ripping up a brick patio underneath for the support beams. Not only is the addition perfect but the old brick patio underneath was returned to its original state... perfectly. His guys are great. They were on time. They were courteous. They WORKED all day and they were just as informed about the process as Tim was. When they could see that I wasnt sure about what direction to go with the colors.. they jumped in and made up some samples. Without hesitation I recommend Cotton wood Custom, Tim Normand and his crew for any type of work that involves a deck.

Our original back patio included four different levels and three different materials. It was not usable! We had another company tear out all the different levels and replace it with stone and then we needed a small deck off the back door. When I first had Tim come out to do the estimate I explained what would be happening and that the deck portion would need to come later once the stone patio was completed. He was completely fine with that delay. Once he and his coworker finally arrived to begin the work they worked fast and efficiently! They were very organized. They had the majority of the deck completed in one day and came back the following days to complete the deck and railing. Tim always kept me up to date on any delays and when they would be around doing work. I was very impressed with the quality of their work and the materials they selected. They are very hard workers and they even worked on a snowy day! They were not able to complete the stain part of the job because of weather and needed to wait until spring to complete that part. But once again completed that part of the job in one day. Each time they left, they left the area cleaner than when they found it. I would definitely hire them again!!

Tim and his crew arrived on time and immediately went to work. On the front porch, they replaced the 2 old 1 x 6 posts that were hollow with no internal support structure. Two 4 x 4 x 12 posts were installed and then sleeved in 1 x 6 posts to provide a finished look. The two carport posts were replaced as well. The rear post on the carport was very near separation and collapse. On that post they mounted the 4x4 on the face of the headers as opposed to under the header like before. Doing it this way pulled the headers back to near plum. All posts were sanded smooth and then painted. with an Olympic stain. The entire job took about 5 hours to complete. I am very pleased with the work performed by Tim and his crew.

We contacted Tim about an estimate to restore our deck. Tim was prompt and returned a bid shortly after coming to our house. We started on the deck the following week. His team began by sanding the deck surface to remove all signs of any paint and removed all paint on our metal railings. After sanding the deck surface realized some of the boards needed replaced. Also there was a slight dip at one end of the deck so they jacked the deck up and replace two of the support beams in order to level the deck. One staircase was loose and unable to be repaired so they totaling rebuilt the staircase. Tim helped us to choose new colors to compliment our house colors. After all prep work and rebuilding/replacing was completed they started on the painting/staining. They sprayed multiple coats on all the railings and stained the deck surface. After all the work was completed the deck looked better than we had ever expected. The stain looks so much better than the previous paint and the color chosen for the railings is a great compliment. We did notice that one of the railings going up another staircase was a little loose. I called Tim and he came over the next day and tightened in down. We are completely satisfied with Cottonwood customs and would recommend them to anyone who needs in repairs or restoration on their decks. We will be using them in the future for any restaining or repairs.

After using Cottonwood Customs on two previous occasions for deck work, I learned that they also install holiday lights, so I hired them to setup lights on our prominent spruce tree at the front of our lot as well as a long string of lights along the front roof edge. Yeah, it's early, but living in the Park City area requires these tasks be completed before winter arrives in full force. As always, Tim and his crew arrived as scheduled. The service included all the light strings, running power to the tree in front and securing all the lights along the roof edge. They paid attention to details, like light spacing, while not damaging any of the new tree branch growth. They even taped off all connections between light strings. The end result looks great, and all the work was completed in less than a day. Another job well done by Cottonwood Customs!

This is the second time Tim and his crew has worked on our decks. The first time Cottonwood Custom came out to our place in Jeremy Ranch to completely restore two decks (ground level & 2nd story), our front porch railing and the back staircase that leads to our dog run. The 2nd floor deck was in bad shape. They had to replace a post and railing piece; install new railing support bolts; shored up the horizontal supports to keep the old structure from moving; re-surfaced the deck, stairs & railings; and apply stain on everything. Total job cost was $3,250, and well worth the expense. It would have taken me weeks to do what these guys did in 3 days. The most recent work done by Cottonwood Custom was reapplying stain on all the deck surfaces & railings. I liked that they rescuffed all the deck surfaces before applying the stain. The results are always stunning. I highly recommend these hard working, dependable guys.

they did well and the main objective of the project was successful, with the small exception of two flaws where their sanding left a streak of discoloration.

This is the third time we have used Cottonwood Custom, and we are at the point where we trust and rely on Tim and his great company. His crew is professional, always leaving the work area neat and clean, and they work pretty quietly (we work from home and barely knew they were outside). The great value is in the high quality of work they do. I think communication is one of the most important aspects of customer service, and Tim explains what work will be done, and responds promptly to any inquiries and requests.

Everything went as planed, the price quoted was what i paid in the end. The quality and workman ship that actually went into the deck is outstanding. I couldn't have asked for Tim at cottonwood customs to do a better job.

I responded to an add in our local Money Mailer for Deck Restoration. Tim Normand responded the next day to my inquiry for a bid for having two decks and two sets of stairs restored. He gave me a written bid on the spot after seeing the work that needed to be done (my deck was in poor shape and had previously been painted--it needed alot of help). I thought the bid was reasonable and scheduled the job right then for 1 week later. Tim called me a day later and moved my job up to only 3 days out. It really helped me decide to hire them when Tim brought his book of examples of their work. I like to see the actual examples of previous jobs. I always check out the work of a company before I hire them. Their pictures do not lie!! These guys do all their work by hand using electric sanders, of course! They showed up when they said they would and their work was impeccable. You could obviously tell they cared about making my deck look good as new. I was amazed after the first day. Every inch of my deck was attended to. They paint it all by hand. No messy sprayer. The workers were friendly and hard-working. It took three guys three days to complete the job (lots of deck surface) and it looks absolutely fantastic. I couldn't be happier with the results. Truly looks like my deck was recently built. You won't be sorry if you hire them! I will happily be their customer in the future and will refer all my friends and family to them. They were delightful to do business with. One never knows what you will get when you blindly hire someone from a mailed add but I am glad I did. Super guys, super company. You can't go wrong with this honest, hard-working company!
