The quality of work done with Brady Roofing was beyond expectations. Our roof had dead spots and rot and three layers of old. They cleared the old, changed out the wood, put in material that would take care of the dead spots and made sure everything was cleaned up. Their price was half of what my neighbors paid. They communicated every step with us and were super professional. You won’t get a better service than Brady Roofing!

Description of Work: Brady Roofing did a wonderful job on a roof repair that took all day and was in an absolutely painful place. They stripped off old shingles, replaced substrate, added ice and water shield and put in the proper flashing which caused the problem to begin with.

I was very disappointed that after the first 2 scheduled appointments Stewart from Brady Roofing never showed up nor did he contact me to say he was not coming. After I texted he indicated that he is too busy to come out (for an estimate). I had to contact him both times. After the second no-show, I called the office and spoke to Tyler. He indicated that they are very busy, there is no one else to come out to give an estimate and there was nothing else that he could do. Very strange experience. I assume that Brady is doing so well that they don't need any new business. I understand that they might be busy but to not show up twice and after I call telling me there is nothing that they can do is unacceptable business practice. Tyler was very courteous over the phone but that is the best I can say for Brady Roofing.

Thank you for your feedback. Every customer is very important to us, regardless of how busy we feel we might be at any given time. Even one lost customer through any level of negligence on our part is something that we do take very seriously. This feedback has helped us to identify how we can better take care of future customers during busy seasons. Thank you for sharing your experience, and we hope that you found a solution to your roofing problems.

We couldn't be more satisfied. Stewart Gates was so easy to work with during the bidding process and then throughout the project. We trust him, which is saying a lot - we are very cautious about contractors. His bid was straight forward and easy to understand. The crew foreman, Omar, was also a pleasure to work with. The job took two weeks instead of one week, due to a snow storm. But as soon as there was enough melting, they were back here to finish up. The roof looks great. Two problems occurred during installation. 1. The subcontractor that they used to install the soffit didn't install large-enough holes into the overhang, in our opinion. We told Brady Roofing about it, and they sent the subcontractor right back out to fix it and make it right. 2. As soon as they finished, we noticed that water was entering into our basement. This was due to cracks in the foundation, which is very likely not a new problem. But in a way, this was a new problem. The water was entering the cracks because of the new location of a new gutter downspout. We called Brady, and they came by that afternoon. They installed a drain pipe and copper catchment basin under the downspout. All in one day. Problem solved!
Description of Work: Tore off existing roof, installed new roof, installed new soffit, and installed new gutters. Also, installed a rain chain, catchment basin, and drain line.

The job was delayed a week due to inclement weather but was then moved up to the end of the originally scheduled week after a cancellation. The tear-off of the old tar and gravel went smoothly, however, the old tar, tar paper, and gravel was shoveled from the roof into a trailer located next to a fireplace wood pile. A lot of gravel ended up in the wood pile and was difficult to clean up without moving the wood so a lot of gravel was left. The one recommended change I have for a job like this is to cover the wood pile with a tarp to catch the gravel and keep it out of the wood pile. Once the tar and gravel was removed new roof decking was needed to replace some decking that was in poor condition. The contractor expected this and had the new roof decking ready to go at the site. New drip edge, TPO membrane, membrane underlayment, and snow fences were installed on the split level roof. The membrane installation is high quality, there are no bubbles or creases in the membrane, and all the seams are straight and well sealed. There have been several heavy rainstorms at the location and there have been no leaks. One vent fan rain cap was damaged during the job and it was replaced with no questions. Brady roofing did a quality job at a fair price. Stewart was the company rep and he was knowledgeable on the roof design and the common problems that would be found. He planned contingencies for the common problems and there were no delays to the job. It was a little difficult communicating with the people doing the work but I was able to get all questions I had answered. As mentioned before, we had a lot of gravel dropped in a wood pile. If you have a roof replaced, discuss with the contractor how they can minimize dropping old roof material on the ground between the structure and the demolition material trailer/truck.

The crew did a great job on the carport. Removed all debris. My call was for the carport only. During inspection of the carport Stewart also jumped up on the roof and took pictures of seams that were pulling apart. His quote included the carport, seam repair as well as roof replacement for the house. I appreciate the extra effort and honesty that the roof could be repaired instead of a full replacement.

The job sent quickly, smoothly, and we are very happy with our new roof. What impressed me the most was that Brady solved our air intake problem by finding a new technology that would work for us. Our house has a flat roof with a pitched roof on top. Soffit vents were called out by our architect, but were problematic because the supporting boards for the two roofs were not aligned. This meant that if one drilled a hole in the soffit, there was no guarantee you'd be able to reach the attic area without drilling the long-way through the joists. Brady found vents that could be installed between the shingles, and worked with us to position them so we liked the way the roof worked. I think everyone getting a new roof is nervous about rain, and we were no exception. We had put blown-in insulation into large bags, and feared rain hitting them, getting it wet, and so all our hard work bagging it up would have been for naught. It was also (unintended) a test of Brady's crew. The day the roof was removed, it snowed. But none of our insulation got wet, it appeared that they sealed it as they went. We would hire them again.
Description of Work: Brady removed (and hauled away) a bar-tile roof, installed sheathing on the roof, a drip line, an ice shield, a new skylight, installed a new roof, and took care of ensuring adequate ventilation. This included installing a ridge vent, and vents for air intake. Also installed new facia and gutters.

They were great. They are very good getting the quote. I was impressed with the company. I ended up not using them primarily because I think the other company had more answers for the problems that I had and they seem to be much knowledgeable about the ice that build up that I have in my roof that they solve for me so that the only reason that I did not use them but their quote actually they were a little a bit higher than the other one than the one I use at about $500. I am very impressed. They were very nice and very helpful.

Thank you for your positive review. I am glad that you found a roofing contractor that you feel confident in, and I appreciate you taking the time to review our company's bidding process. I do regret that we were unable to convey our knowledge of ice build up prevention and treatment, as it is one of our strong points. However, it sounds like you made a great choice and we appreciate the feedback!

On October 8, 2013 I called to have someone give me a bid for soffit and facia. I was told they would get back to me. On October 11, 2013 I had not heard back so I called again and was told that they are no longer doing that service. I feel this is very poor customer service and would not recommend this company to anyone.

The first contact is Mike Brady, the sales man. He is a very friendly young man. After doing some measurements and discussing over the materials to be used and the estimate of the cost he left. He came back the next day to hand me the final estimate: work to be performed, time of service, materials, cost...The workers arrived on time on the scheduled date. They worked all day from 8 AM to finish at 6 PM. After cleaning and hauling away all the debris and remaining materials, they left my place as clean as before the work began. One worker came back the next day to fix a section of gutter. Overall, I am satisfied with the work. I definitely would recommend this company to whoever need a new roof.

Lou showed up on time after a phone call from the company to remind me of the appointment (thank you---I did remember but that was a good practice of theirs). Lou was chewing gum...he seemed very nonchalant, jokey. Lou was wearing religious garments which were visible from the hem of his shorts by 4-5 inches; he made known his affiliation to the church several times, his company doing charitable work within the faith's followers (nice); however....I'm catholic. Lou insisted those roofers (his competitors) were 'WRONG!' about Ridgevent, 'but we'll do it, if that's what you want.' He seemed to indicate how 'crazy' those roofers are to use that system, and I would be just as 'crazy'. (well, we went with a Ridgevent system). Lou scolded me when I told him we were going to go with another competitor and the Ridgevent system, "EVEN AFTER I TOLD YOU ALL ABOUT THAT?!?!?!' Yeah, Lou, even after you told me.....
Description of Work: Positives: on time; friendly, information left with me Negatives: pricey; chewing gum; referred to 'The Church' (LDS) several times, including apologizing for his 'garments' showing out from his shorts in a joking manner--as if I should be aware his company deals primarily with that group of people; negative about competitors and their knowledge.

Response from BRADY ROOFING/BRADY GUTTER
I want to apologize for our estimator, [member name removed], giving the impression that he was using his religious affiliation as a means of selling the roofing project. I spoke to [member name removed] about this and he said he feels bad about the interaction. He didn't notice the garment hem extending beyond his shorts until he was sitting down and realized the customer was looking at them. His recollection was they were extending about an inch but he regrets the occurrence just the same. The feedback is important to us so we can go out of our way to make sure we don't leave impressions such as this in the future. I am the owner of Brady Roofing and I have had experience on my house and my neighbors house were the best ridge vent available got clogged from dust particles, resulting in less than ideal exhaust ventilation. After researching this problem, we found that ridge vent has a significant decrease in effectiveness over the years. Therefore, we do subscribe to turtle vents as a great way to ventilate most attics. However, if ridge vent never gets clogged, it will be a great system as well. Tony we wish you the best. There are a lot of great roofing companies out there who can deliver a great roof installation. With your thoroughness in selecting a roofing company, I have no doubt you have such a roof.

Brady had the lowest bid, and it also had great ratings from Angie's List. In addition, Brady installed the roof on a co-worker's home and they were pleased. The quality of the work was excellent, and the workers did a good job of keeping our yard clean from debris. Excellent communication along the way - for example we needed to have some flashing replaced around two chimneys and they called me immediately and explained the options - from no-cost to moderately priced. There were also some issues with the amount of shingles that were ordered (ours was a special order) and the completion of our roof was delayed for over a week. Yet the communicated all of this to me, accepted responsibility for an honest mistake, and completed the job the day the shingles arrived. Would certainly recommend them in the future for either gutters or a new roof.

I called Brady to get a quote on some minor roof repair after a tree branch fell on my house during a windstorm. I did not end up having repairs done, as I will most likely have the entire roof replaced this spring/summer. Brady was very prompt and professional in scheduling the visit for the estimate. They were honest with me and said it would be a waste of money to complete the minor repairs if I planned to re-roof so soon.

Neither my wife or I could be happier with our new Brady Roof. We knew we would most likely have to spend several thousands of dollars, and were we scared after several experiences in the past with various incompetant contractors in different trades!! Why did we go with Brady? They gave us addresses of some jobs they'd done in the recent past...houses with similar roofs near our neighborhood and we looked them over, even knocking on doors to ask the owner's opinion of Brady's work. Brady's bid for our house wasn't the most expensive or the least expensive and we knew virtually nothing about them before we started to check out his work. But with what his previous customers had to say about him and how their roofs looked, we decided to go with the Brady bid for our new roof. Then it was time for us to decide what design features we wanted and which type of roofing material. Brady Roofing couldn't have been more informative or helpful again, even opening up their closed warehouse on an off-season Saturday morning just for us to look at various colors of shingles. By the time we signed our contract we were totally confidant in our ability to make an intelligent and informed decision. Then came the scheduling of the actual job. Due to the pre-season date of our contract, and the fickle nature of Salt Lake City Spring weather at that time of the year, we were happy to have to wait through several tentative start dates until Brady Roofing felt confidant that the weather forecast would give them the time they needed to tear off our old roof and get the new job completed to at least the point where the house would be waterproof in the event the next rain storm came along before the job was totally done. I believe there are some contractors who wouldn't care if it rained in the middle of the job as long as they had a signed contract. But Brady Roofing took as much care to be certain of a thorough rain-free job as if it was their own house. Then came the actual job. The job never did get the slightest bit of rain on it and Omar and his crew of residential shingle roofers were excellent, polite company, as well as incredibly fast and careful workers. And I had a house with a beautiful new roof and gutter/ downspout system in only (if I remember correctly) 4 or 5 days! Yeah, yeah, I know that this review is so glowingly positive as to make anyone suspious, so I'll tell you that, in the weeks after the job was totally completed, I did find a couple or roofing nails lying in my lawn. But to my way of thinking, that's a small price to pay for the my confidance in a fairly priced job of excellent quality which I won't have to give a second thought to for years and years.

After reading reviews of some roofing companies in the Salt Lake area listed on the Angie's List, I called 3 companies for an estimate. I decided to use Brady Roofing, because from the very first meeting with the salesman, Michael Brady, I had a good impression of this company. Mike is a young friendly man who inspired trust and dependability. He grew up in the neighborhood and his grandmother lives a few blocks from my house. The cost is right (but not the lowest!), and I get a discount of 5% as an Angie's List member. The roofing crew is on time. They started at 8:00AM and completed at 8:00PM. They cleaned and hauled away all debris and remaining material before leaving. The next day, a worker came to fix the soffit and some final touches... There were some minor damages to the ceiling. Mike himself came to fix them. He came back everyday, in 3 days, until I told him that I can do the work myself. He said he could come everyday to fix any problems in a month! All in all, it was a satisfactory experience. Definitely, I would highly recommend Brady Roofing to those who need a new roof. Chuy Dieu Salt Lake City 12/19/2012

Description of Work: The gutter work performed was repair work due to the roofing work being done, and they had accidentally damaged the gutter slightly, but Brady roofing said they would repair it fully and repair it fully, they did. The repair work was done very nicely. The person took extra care to be sure the repair was done perfectly! I would recommend this company to anyone. They bent over backwards for me. They set up an appointment for the day after I called them to look at my tar & gravel roof that was in really bad shape. They were on time and explained several options. They said they would email the estimate the next day but actually sent it to me that same afternoon. I waited until I got estimates from 3 other companies before making my decision to use them. I called to set a date for the work as I wanted to get it done as soon as possible since I had a tarp on the roof. We set it up for 10/10/12 as I was out of town the weekend before and wouldn't be back until late Monday and needed Tuesday to get everything moved out from under the carport and the eves of the house. Due to a forecast of rain on Thursday they called and asked if they could move it up 1 day earlier which I couldn't do so they put a full crew on it on Wednesday and assured me that it would be watertight before it rained. Actually they stayed until 6:30 that night and got the old roof torn off and the new roof on both the house and carport in the one day. They came back on Thursday to pick up the excess material and make sure it was all cleaned up before the dumpster was hauled away that afternon. They came back on Friday and put up the new gutters and finished that in a light sprinkle. There were no surprises. The finished price was right what I had expected. I discovered a small problem with water running down the connection in the drip edge on the front of the carport (due to the carport being lower at that end) which made the rainwater run down the wooden beam. I hadn't wanted a gutter on the front of the carport because that was where my house number and flagpole mount were. I called and they came out and suggested a fix of a ridge of the membrane to divert the water away from that spot and did it at no charge. I found only a couple of pieces of stuff that they had missed in the cleanup. I am very pleased with the whole process and LOVE my new roof!!! I found out after I called for the estimate that my neighbor several houses down had used them for a membrane roof & were very happy with them.
Description of Work: Tear off old tar & gravel roof on both the house and carport. Tear off the decking on the carport which was bad. Replace any decking on the house that was bad. Put on new decking over the existing decking on the house. Replace any fascia board that was bad. Put on 1 1/2" thick rigid insulation on house. Installed TPO membrane on the house, carport, and shed attached to the carport. Extended the roof from the shed over to the house. Replaced gutters on front & back of the house and the side of the carport. Recommended snow fences along eaves to stop snow from sliding off. I declined but should have gotten it as we got 2 feet of snow a few weeks after the roof was installed and it slid off the roof in 2 ft. wide sheets the length of the house.

I called Brady roofing for an estimate to overlay my entire roof. Mike Brady showed up as scheduled to give me a bid. He along with a couple of other roofing contractors suggested that i remove the existing roofing in order to achieve the job i was looking for. Their bid was not the lowest nor was it the highest but the way they conducted themselves and the way i felt like their only customer i made the decision to use them for the job. Mike made a couple of trips to my home with shingle samples and was more than accommodating to all of my needs and concerns. After a little haggling we came to an agreement. As scheduled the dumpster showed up on a Friday afternoon and i removed the existing roofing over the weekend. At about 7:30 Monday morning the the shingles were being delivered to my roof. About the same time Dymon Brady was on the phone telling me the crew was on the way. They worked that evening until 7:00 or so and showed up the next morning and finished the job by late that afternoon. I had called Mike back for an estimate to replace some of my gutter and he schedule the gutter for Thurs. morning. Again they showed up as scheduled and after some communication problems they completed my gutter as promised. Their crews were very professional in every way. The clean up was as good as could be expected and the scheduling was great. I had a couple of small concerns and Mike Brady was right there to make it right. Overall the experience was very positive and good. Being in the construction business for 35 years i have seen a lot of roofing contractors and if i move back into contract procurement and or job management i will be calling Brady for my roofing needs and i would not hesitate to suggest Brady Roofing to all of my friends and relatives.
Description of Work: They placed a dumpster for me (the homeowner) to remove the existing roof and for a small cost finished the removal that i could not get to. They replaced my entire roof and most of the rain gutter.
